While the decor in the VIP Tower has a vintage charm, the facilities are not at all old; it's clear everything is very well-maintained. The wooden furniture gleams, complemented by stylish dark red fabrics. High-end amenities like Byredo toiletries and Lebon mouthwash are provided. The bedding is also excellent. The Executive Lounge has a sophisticated, artistic feel, and all the lounge staff were professional and friendly, with the strange exception of one staff member asking for a positive review on Dianping. The concierge staff, both in the Main Building and the VIP Tower, provided excellent service. The housekeeping staff we encountered in the VIP Tower were also friendly, proactively greeting us with smiles. Breakfast at Langlu Restaurant offered a wide variety of choices, with an especially extensive selection of breads and yogurts. The dining and serving areas are spacious. However, the poached eggs were pre-made, and the yolks were unfortunately already solidified. Upon check-in, the front desk informed us that all balcony rooms, regardless of size, would require a 1.5-hour wait, meaning we couldn't check in until after 3:30 PM. They also refused to arrange a room for us to wait in. While delays can be understood, there are serious issues with their room allocation management and communication strategy. Instead of offering solutions or showing empathy, the staff simply refused, which is not the standard practice in the service industry. They emphasized that check-in is strictly at 3 PM, which raises the question: are previous guests equally enforced to check out at the regulated 12 PM? When we asked if we could enter a cleaned room, they refused again, stating they couldn't issue a room key. It was only after my heavily pregnant wife expressed her frustration that we were immediately given a small balcony room – which, to our disappointment, faced the underground parking access. Regarding cleanliness, there was hair in the bathtub that hadn't been properly cleaned. When our taxi arrived, security staff simply told the driver he had taken the wrong route and to turn back, but offered no guidance or alternative directions. The swimming pool and gym facilities are outsourced, which negatively impacts the guest experience.

An InterContinental Hotel with a distinct Shanghai flair! 🏨 Facilities & Services: ➡️ The hotel is comprised of several independent buildings, some new, some older. ➡️ The hotel feels like a sprawling garden, with a shuttle bus service available to take guests to different buildings or the outer gates. ➡️ Guests check in at the main building upon arrival. The main building's atrium and crystal chandeliers are absolutely stunning! ➡️ All the staff were very pleasant, and the ones I interacted with – Martin Yang, Amy, and Liam – were exceptionally nice! 🛏️ Room Experience: ➡️ Was upgraded to an Executive King Room in the VIP Wing. The room exuded an "old money" style, with crystal chandeliers, green desk lamps, and brass fixtures throughout, all contributing to a strong sense of tradition and history. ➡️ The stationery and bath amenities were comprehensive, and the BYREDO toiletries were a lovely touch. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and they offered a choice of four different pillows.

The Ruijin InterContinental is a truly historic hotel, with all its buildings being historical structures. Facilities: The hotel as a whole is exceptionally well-maintained. I've had the pleasure of staying in both the main building and Building 3, and the room facilities are always in great condition. Its location is a crucial factor for me; I consistently choose this hotel whenever I visit Ruijin Hospital for medical appointments or attend performances at the Wenguang Arts Centre. Cleanliness: As a self-proclaimed neat freak traveling with children, hygiene is my absolute top priority. Every detail, from the room itself to the bedding and bathroom, is meticulously managed. I felt completely at ease and secure staying here with my child. Service: Whether it's the front desk, concierge, housekeeping, or the bustling restaurant, the service is consistently excellent across the board.

She proactively upgraded my room, inquired about my dining experiences at the Chinese restaurant, and promptly addressed every single one of my requests, truly making me feel at home. This stay at InterContinental Ruijin Shanghai provided not just a comfortable experience, but also an abundance of warmth and genuine heartfelt moments. **Location & Environment:** Situated in the city center, the hotel is conveniently located diagonally opposite Ruijin Hospital, with a subway station, shopping mall, and convenience store all within easy reach. The property itself is surrounded by lush greenery, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere. **Rooms:** Rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms feature a practical wet/dry separation. **Facilities & Dining:** The gym is well-equipped, and the Chinese restaurant offers a rich variety of fresh and delicious dishes. I eagerly anticipate my next visit. With its superb city-center location, the InterContinental Ruijin will undoubtedly remain my preferred choice.
