Kempinski The One Suites Hotel Shanghai Downtown Reviews

We stayed in the Art Deco room, which was nice. The bath looking out over the city is great. The breakfast was very disappointing. There’s no one there to check you in, explain the process/options or show you to a table. The food is very mediocre but the service is quite terrible. The restaurant staff talk very loudly to each other and don’t seem to understand paying guests are eating their breakfast. They are very unprofessional. I stayed 3 nights and had the same experience every morning. I had to wait 20 mins for a coffee too. If I stay here again I’ll skip the breakfast and instead head over to Starbucks a few mins walk away. I’d booked this hotel mainly for the terrace and restaurant options but all were closed apart from the lobby bistro. Overall, a lovely room with 3 star service.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights in this hotel. It was a pleasant and happy stay in Kempinski Shanghai Downtown. All crew members' service was extremely good. My daughter was sick and need assistance to the hospital in the midnight, the counter crews were very helpful by helping to search for appropriate hospital and well arrange transportation for us. The housekeeping aunty, Rose Zhu, was very good and caring. She let us feel like at home. She gave a lot of kind advice for our sick daughter and prepare extra 2 bottles of water for our sick daughter. The rooms were spacious, bed and pillow was comfortable. It was an enjoyable stay. Thumbs up to the crew members.

Very good area - close to metro, to resturant and shops (only 10 min walking from Nanijng shoping street) but still very quite. Very nice place, i highly recommend it ! They also made us free upragrde of the room!

A tad run down, just a tad. Location is alright. Room is clean and has all basic amenities. Bedroom could be brighter. Enjoyed my stay. Dryer not able to fully dry the clothes.

Love the size of the room. Nothing to complain except they should have provided some washing liquids, kitchen towel since there is a small “kitchen” provided. Bathroom is comfortable and roomy! One comment is, the security guards outside hotel are kind of not too polite… or is that how local Shanghainese speak?

Thankfully, I was able to find one pillow without the odor, which I used for the duration of my stay, but this issue really impacted my comfort. Lastly, for those sensitive to noise, I would not recommend this hotel. The cleaners were quite loud while working, and the room insulation is poor, allowing you to hear everything happening around you. For a hotel in this price range, I expected better soundproofing solutions. While the service and room quality are typically excellent, I believe these issues should be addressed to provide a better experience

First time staying in this foreign brand Kempinski. No disappointmebt at all. Their room is big and clean and nice. By walking around 5-10mins u can reach various shopping malls. They have restaurants all over downstairs nearby buildings too. Very recommended.

During our stay at the Shanghai Kempinski, the hotel staff May Xiong & Billy Du both went above and beyond expectation. They would always greet us and ensured that our experience felt just like home. From the moment we checked in, every member of the front desk was welcoming and responded really quickly to all our inquiry’s or requests. The housekeeping team did an amazing job of keeping our room clean and comfortable throughout our stay. We really appreciated their attention to detail and the extra care they put into making sure everything was perfect. Overall, I would definitely consider coming back to this hotel during my visit in Shanghai. Hotel is at a good location, close to metro and the bund. Walkable distance to food areas and shuttle to the airport. There’s also a kitchen where you can cook if you want some clean food at home. We cannot thank them enough for making our stay truly memorable. We will definitely bring our kids back again! Jennifer

This is a great hotel all around! Beautiful lobby and decor and room is large and clean. Location is right next to HKRI Taikoo Hui and is a great spot to walk to Nanjing West Road to see all the malls and shops. Dorian and his team delivered great service everywhere i see from check in, to breakfast, to getting a car, to check out. All around a wonderful experience and will recommend to friends for business trips for sure.

Extremely run down hotel. Do not be fooled by recent renovations. Bathroom covered in mould, tiles falling apart, cracked tiles, toilet seats not fitted properly, cupboard falling apart, extremely dirty, air conditioning vents smell. The worst Kempenski hotel experience. Only good experience is with staff who were very helpful and friendly.

Good location for restaurants and travel back and forth to airports, room is clean but could be better, customer service was excellent,
