Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is ideally situated right by the Bund. The hotel boasts first-rate facilities, and the bedding in the rooms is incredibly comfortable – I slept a solid eight hours straight on my first night! While the breakfast selection wasn't overly extensive, its exquisite quality and freshness truly stood out. On the second morning, I stepped out of the hotel and, with just a two to three-minute walk, embarked on a 10km morning run along the Bund. The scenery and the running surface here are simply perfect for a run! My two-day stay was absolutely superb! A special mention goes to Rookie Yulia and Mark from the concierge team – their service was incredibly thoughtful and attentive. When I checked in, I had quite a bit of luggage, and they proactively offered their assistance, thoughtfully asking if I had any other needs. This made my entire stay truly delightful.

Waldorf Astoria has always held a special place in my heart as one of my favorite luxury hotels. My admiration for it began during my first visit to the Grand Brasserie for Sunday Brunch. The moment I stepped into the hotel, I was utterly captivated and amazed by its unparalleled grandeur, opulent design, and magnificent decor and furnishings. Even as a Shanghainese local, I can't resist a weekend stay here. I always opt for a full river-view room. In the morning, as the curtains gently open, with nothing to obstruct the view, I look down through the floor-to-ceiling windows to see the most vibrant S-bend of the Huangpu River extending into the distance. Looking up, the majestic cluster of skyscrapers in Pudong, including the iconic "Four-Piece Set" (Lujiazui skyline), proudly stand tall. The landmark buildings of the Bund and prime river views are all laid out before you. At night, colorful sightseeing boats crisscross the river, and the buildings shimmer with vibrant, beautiful neon lights, creating a truly magnificent spectacle. The hotel's service is also exceptional. Coco, Eva, and Katrina, the wonderful staff from the exclusive concierge team, are incredibly warm and attentive. They proactively helped me with my luggage, personally escorted me to my room, and showed genuine care and concern. At the front desk, during check-in and check-out, even when busy with other guests, they would proactively engage with me, help me review my bill first, and minimize my waiting time. They truly go above and beyond to make guests feel completely at home, providing a wonderful and seamless experience.
