Dawu Xiaozhan Inn (Shanghai Lujiazui Area First Yaohan)

I enjoyed my stay a lot. The building is beautiful and everything looks brand new. The bed is super comfortable. People keep it to themselves. There's a small but cozy common area. It's a 10-min walk from the metro and it's cheap to take a cab if you have lots of luggage. Nearby the accomodation you'll find restaurants, convenience stores, coffee shops, and fruit stalls. It's really peaceful and more of a residential area, which is great if you want to experience a different side of Shanghai. You still can easily reach all of city attractions by metro. I would definitely stay again.

Average experience. The people in my room used hair dryer at 00:30 and smoked in the morning. Another guy decided to call someone in our room and was very loud. Moreover, the night where I arrived, someone opened my curtain when I was in my bed. He wanted to check if someone was here. Results : he sees me, in underwear, in my intimacy and leaves with no word. That is quite disturbing. I think the staff should remember the rules to clients when they arrive.

Had a great stay at this hostel! It’s new, nicely renovated, and in a perfect location to explore the city, just a 10minute walk to the metro. There are plenty of good restaurants and shops nearby for anything you might need. They provide you clean sheets (which you will put on the bed yourself), slippers, a toothbrush, and free coffee or tea. There is also a laundry area available at a very affordable price. At checkout, they allow you to leave your luggage there. The staff at the front desk were super friendly and always helpful, they took care of everything I asked for. The room was clean, it has air conditioning, a comfortable bed and pillow, with a good bathroom and shower. One thing I really liked: each bed comes with a locker you can open with your room card — which is actually rare in hostels in China! The only weird part is that the sink and hair dryer are inside the room, so it can get a bit noisy if someone uses them early in the morning or late at night. But honestly, that’s a small thing; overall I totally recommend this place!

Spend a little more but stay in No.1 Youth international hostel. The have no common washrooms but one for every 6 persons room which is very uncomfortable to use. The staff isn't helpful
