Romantic Hotels in Galle

Departed for Sri Lanka on September 28, 2023, and checked into the Amangalla Hotel in Galle Fort. It was the sixth Aman hotel to check in. It felt great. Amangalla was built in the 17th century. It was formerly a military command in the Netherlands. It later became the first hotel in Sri Lanka. It was acquired by the Aman Group in 1995. The hotel is not big, but it is well-equipped with swimming pools, massage pools, yoga rooms, etc. , you can experience local shaving services and foot massages. Amangalla is the smallest Aman I have ever stayed in. It is in the middle of the ancient city of Galle and a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse. The surrounding area is very convenient for eating, drinking and entertainment. There is the Tuna and the Crab restaurant, which is a brother restaurant of the one-Michelin-star restaurant in Colombo. If you have enough money, you can try it. Be sure to choose his tea plantation tour, which will also take you to see the sea turtle hatching base and stilt fishing. It was very interesting. Although I fell off and stepped on a rock while fishing on stilts and was injured, I gained interesting photos and a rare life experience. The ancient city of Galle is also worth visiting. Amangalla can arrange cars and tour guides. The hotel is right in the center of the ancient city. The location is good and it is very convenient to go everywhere. Although I fell into the sea while fishing on stilts and cut my feet. All in all, it was still a very interesting experience. The two Amans in Sri Lanka are different from the ones we stayed in before. They are far away from Colombo and do not provide free airport pick-up services. The airport pick-up fee for the five of us was about US$400 in a large amanganla. It should be noted that if two Aman activities are booked for consecutive days, they generally need to be booked from the official website, not Ctrip agents.

The hotel is very good. It is an all-inclusive hotel. After staying in the hotel, you don't need to worry about any food and drink.

Overall, it was an enjoyable stay although in some respects it was inferior to other hotels I stayed in on the holiday. The pools were great and so was the view from the room. The room itself was alright - quite basic but sufficient. We did have problems with a leak in the ceiling which was promptly addressed by staff but still a little annoying. In general the staff were lovely: in particular Chamindu in the restaurant, a security guard who called me and my partner over to show us turtles on the beach (sorry, can't remember his name) and the guy working the sunloungers at the lower pool. The weakest part was probably the food. It wasn't bad exactly, it was just worse than the food in all the other hotels I stayed in.

The hotel is still relatively beautiful, the service is very warm, the room is large, the bed is relatively high, the lady may be slightly troublesome, but the hotel as a whole is still very beautiful, it is recommended, the location is better, the location is good, the location is not in the ancient city, because the ancient city is not big

This hotel is the most impressive and satisfying one in the entire Sri Lankan itinerary. It completely exceeded expectations and surpassed the other two heritage hotels in my heart. The hotel has only 4 rooms with English-style butler service. It is very quiet and can provide better services. You can choose the breakfast you want according to your own taste (there are local style, Western European style and various options). You can tell the housekeeper the meal time and food the day before, and the next morning will be specially made for you and delivered to the room or in the room. The open-air dining bar at the entrance, anyway, the overall service is butler-style, plus the overall decoration style, this kind of style has only been seen in British dramas before, I really love this kind of place, if it is not for the next day, I really want to If you stay for a few more days, Galle itself is a bit similar to Gulangyu Island in China. It is very suitable for a leisurely vacation, and this kind of butler service is really relaxing.

The city of Galle was one of our major points of interest while making a road trip around Sri Lanka in December 2024. We made our reservation at Tavetti Hotel a few months before our trip. We were supposed to stay there on January 1st, a special day, the first of the year. The booking was confirmed by the hotel and guaranteed by our credit card. Imagine our shock, when on December 31st we received a message that our reservation was cancelled! We immediately called the hotel where we talked with the reception and finally the booking manager, where both of them, very impolitely at first, and shouting at us later, confirmed that they cancelled the room because they had not received any additional confirmation, that they never asked for. They didn't offer any solution, any alternative accommodation and just hanged up the phone twice! That is why, we strongly discourage you from making any bookings with this hotel. We are in possession of written proofs of the whole situation.

This is a fantastic exclusive hotel. Only 10 rooms with excellent service from all the staff who spoke good English but not intrusive. The rooms all have sea views and feel private as at slightly different angles. Ours had a 4 poster bed. The room had a huge bathroom. Also a selection of teas and a proper coffee machine with fresh milk in the fridge. The food is fantastic, starting with a 4 course breakfast, any manner of light snacks for lunch and a good evening selection. The chef came round personally most evenings to check everybody was happy. Outside there is a small lawned area and a lovely infinity pool overlooking the beach. Unfortunately when the tide is coming or going the sea is a bit dangerous to swim in because of the undercurrent, but relatively OK for a good swimmer and at other times. The beach has lovely white sand and there was nobody on it even at height of season, perfect for a morning or evening stroll when the temperature a bit lower. We really appreciated the 5-6 pm cocktail hour watching the sun set and all drinks free. Also afternoon tea is free if requested. There is a spa and the massage I had was excellent. The hotel is an hours drive from Galle which for us was a little far for more sightseeing. There is really no village or town to wander around so it is a bit isolated. The hotel does organise various trips if desired. We felt rested and pampered at this hotel at the end of our holiday.

The advantages of the hotel are a very good breakfast and dinner. Buffet. Very abundant. There are both seafood and local cuisine. Delicious. I would also like to note the traditional Marriott chain quality of bed. I slept great on it. The beach in this place is excellent. You can swim safely - the waves are not so strong. Everything is very picturesque if you go left and right. Now about the disadvantages. Unfortunately, there are more of them. The staff are very unpolite, you felt like you were not welcome here, they were doing you a favor. Fake smiles. On the day of check-out, a little after 12, for a few minutes the staff began knocking on the door and demanding to vacate the room. Is this worthy of such a hotel chain? When I tried to pay at the reception with a Union Pay card, the staff said that the terminal for Russian cards did not work. Although, in other places and hotels in Sri Lanka, everything worked without problems and it was possible to pay everywhere. I explain this behavior by lack of customer focus, which, again, is very strange for a hotel of such a chain as Marriott and for the service. I also want to note that this hotel did not have orthopedic pillows or any other pillows - when I tried to find out about this possibility, I was rudely told that there were no other pillows and that was all. In general, for the staff, service and their attitude - a big minus and a bad rating

We are group of 15 certified divers had an unforgettable experience at the Ariella Hotel in Sri Lanka. The accommodations were top-notch, and the diving sites were breathtaking. A special shoutout to Mr. Raj also Mr, Kumara and Mr. Mohamed the restaurant managers who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We can’t wait to return
