St Margaret's Hotel
4.3/5118 Reviews
This small hotel in what once must have been a grand private semi-detached house is quietly located in leafy St Margaret’s Road opposite the entrance of St Hugh’s college. The stop for the Oxford city sightseeing bus is near and it is easy to get to the city centre by bus or on foot (15 minutes or so if walking). The nearby area of Jericho is interesting too and worth taking a walk along the canal. Can’t speak for the rest of the hotel of course but our room on the ground floor was large and comfortable with coffee/tea making facilities, biscuits and a mini fridge. There are five car parking spaces and two EV chargers which sadly don’t work (a member of staff said they have never worked). There is car parking in the street too. I don’t know what it is about bathrooms in hotels of this type but often, as in this case, the shower while extremely powerful was difficult to get to the right temperature and the water was very slow to drain away, while spots of black mould on the sealant should be dealt with; but that’s a relatively minor concern as it was otherwise spotlessly clean. The hotel, while very clean, could do with a spruce-up inside and I think that might be happening as there were swatches of carpet samples in reception. Breakfast is certainly adequate, served in the conservatory overlooking a large garden mainly laid to lawn - top marks for good coffee!. We dined at Gees, a very good restaurant about six minutes down the Banbury road towards Oxford (see separate review). Overall a happy stay, kind and pleasant staff very eager to help.
Marlborough House - Guest House

We received a very warm welcome, and were allowed to check in several hours early. Room was big, well furnished, and comfortable. We particularly liked having a small table and kitchenette for our breakfast! Lovely toiletries provided in the bathroom. There is a small car park, and also on road parking. Couldn't have asked for friendlier, more welcoming hosts. Would definitely stay again.
Old Bank Hotel
4.5/548 Reviews
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Bank Hotel, everything is first class. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city but surprisingly our room was peaceful and quiet. We had a stunning view and the room was clean and well equipped, lovely little extras like fresh fruit and cookies, tea and coffee. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the turn down service at night. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay here again .
Old Parsonage Hotel

The look of this hotel looks very low-key! Even very inconspicuous, I arrived at night. After passing through the cemetery, I felt a little cautious in my heart, but I completely forgot when I entered the door. The hotel reception was small, with the restaurant, the atmosphere was very good, there was a small fireplace and bar, the hotel The waiter was also very enthusiastic. There was a Chinese lady who was very nice. The room was relatively large. The first night was a high-class room. It was quite big. The next day, the standard room was OK. The mattress was very comfortable. ! Hot water is also great! awesome
Oxford Guest House

Lovely rooms, good sized bathroom, lovely and warm , radiators in room with variable heat to suit your needs, (the weather was cold as I stayed Oct/November) TV, hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo , mini fridge, kettle and hospitality tray, Fan in room for summer months too. The breakfast is very good , cereals, vast choice of teas, coffee, fruit, yoghurt, toast, cheese, croissants, full English or vegetarian option. Fruit juices too. The owners and staff are lovely, extremely helpful to me as my 3 day booking turned into several weeks as my husband had major surgery at the nearby JR Hospital, managed to extend my stay with a change of room, always making sure I was OK, and accommodating my daughter for 2 days as she stayed with me whilst hubby was in surgery for 12 hours. Just a few minutes walk to the nearby shopping area, with eateries, pubs, coffee shops , post office etc and a park too. Bus stop just outside the guest house with buses to Oxford City centre , and the JR Hospital, and other destinations. A parking space at the hotel is great too as parking around the area is mainly by permit or very expensive car parks. I would recommend this hotel to one and all, just one note, the towels are air dried so they're not soft & fluffy , but that's good for the environment and I'm surprised to say I quite enjoyed them feeling rougher. 😊 I will happily recommend this guest house to one & all
