Cleanliness: Very clean and tidy. The room was elegantly and refreshingly decorated, with a grass stool for sitting, drinking tea, eating, and chatting – very pleasant. It was very quiet at night.
Environment: Not far from the old town, just a few minutes' walk away. You can also take a city shuttle bus to experience the old town. Parking is available nearby.
Service: The owner is a handsome young man who speaks gentle Mandarin. He was very polite, helped with luggage, and led us to the parking lot. He also introduced local restaurants and attractions. His service was first-class and professional.
Drawbacks: The washbasin was a bit small and easily got wet. A separate wet and dry area in the bathroom would be better. However, these didn't affect our mood at all; our family was very satisfied with our accommodation.

Amidst the fragrant tea, he brought out Yunnan ham pastries carefully selected from Dali—the flaky crust layered distinctly, the savory-sweet ham filling leaving a lingering aftertaste. Next, he brought out his homemade rose vinegar, the amber liquid floating with rose petals, perfectly balanced in sweet and sour, with a delicate floral fragrance. Most touching was his willingness to share fresh fruit he had just bought from the market; this unreserved hospitality instantly dispelled the fatigue of our journey.
Thoughtful Design, Two Types of Mattresses for Comfort
The room's decor reflected meticulous attention to detail. Two types of mattresses, one firm and one soft, were specially provided to cater to travelers with different sleeping habits. Our room had a tatami area, where we nestled to enjoy tea and read after being awakened by the morning sun. The morning light filtered through the window, casting dappled shadows on the tatami, making time seem to slow down.
Convenient transportation and hassle-free parking. There's a dedicated parking lot right next to the courtyard, and the road conditions from the main road are excellent, making it easy even for first-time drivers. This convenience made us feel very comfortable with our luggage.
As we left, the owner stood at the door waving goodbye, like seeing off a family member on a long journey. At Youguang Courtyard in Weishan, you gain more than just a peaceful night's sleep; you gain a memory illuminated by light. It turns out that the most precious thing on a journey is encountering a ”home” that makes you forget you're in a foreign land.

FFaiza LeithTo escape the frenzy of Kunming ancient town, we took a 2.5 hr train ride to Weishan - an authentic, uncommercialized old town with the splendid Yuan Chuang Yi Su hotel.
The bed is super comfortable, and the window seat great for relaxing after a truly hot shower. Sanitized towels are delivered daily in sealed bags and CGTN for foreign guests is available on a huge TV!
Yuan Chuang Yi Su's owner is a Mensch. His fluency in English and passion for his adopted town enriched our China trip. He sensed my vegetarian needs and whisked me off to the local market!
Yuan Chuang Yi Su is the smartest, but the least expensive of our 28 day trip in Guangdong - Yunnan.
We relished the smart set-up, the gleaming interior and delightful neighborhood of eateries.
The hotel is truly a train-rider's dream: just 25 minute walk away from Weishan Railway station and 5 minutes from the inexpensive tourist buses that take you as far as Weibaoshan and East Lotus Village.
