1st night was very noisy as there’s a single wooden door between my room and the next family room, it was like I was sharing the room with them. Fortunately they moved out the following day. There was also a lot of noise from outside, I wasn’t street facing. I tried to close the window but it doesn’t shut, they were also cooking with charcoal so the room smelt like a bbq. I booked this hotel specifically because it had a swimming pool, as in the pictures, it doesn’t. That’s only if you book the villa which is two blocks away I was told. So a completely different hotel. The western breakfast doesn’t exist either, I was offered some kind of noodles or salad. I ate out each morning. Also the girl in reception booked a taxi for me to the airport, it was twice what I paid to get there, I thought fair enough, there where lots of other people in the minibus from the airport and this was my own taxi, only for it to stop at every hotel on the way picking people up.
The guy on reception was very nice and helpful but the hotel tainted the start to my trip in Luang Prabang.
The whole booking was very misleading.

Overall, it's pretty good. It's located down a small alley, so you drive to the alley entrance and then walk in. The alley is very quiet, and as you enter the hotel, there's a large pond with a small fountain, which is quite beautiful. It's about a 10-minute walk to Mount Phousi and the main street – not super close, but not far either, just a nice stroll. The room was clean and tidy. My only regret is that we were given a ground-floor room. The sliding door opened directly onto the pond and breakfast area, so guests were constantly walking past right in front of us. While I wasn't too worried about security, we had to keep the curtains drawn and the door closed the whole time, otherwise the room was completely exposed. The breakfast was decent; we ate it for three days and didn't get tired of it, and there were fresh squeezed juices available every day.

The deal is good. The only downside I found is the room smell. You can switch the air conditioner to ”Dry” mode and the smell will be non-existent after a day or two. Highly recommended.

Good plumbing and the linens were in decent condition. I really enjoyed the breakfasts; they were perfect for a couple of days, especially considering how expensive Laos has become and not having to spend extra on breakfast at a cafe. The only strange thing was that my room was cleaned the day after I arrived, but then it wasn't cleaned again, even though I left the 'please make up room' sign out.

The staff were exceptionally good, very enthusiastic in helping with issues, and super friendly. The female staff members were sweet, and the male staff members were gentle. What was unacceptable, though, is that for light sleepers, this place is an absolute nightmare. There's constant traffic noise from the road outside, and it's extremely loud. The walls offer no soundproofing whatsoever, and the windows don't seal properly. I initially stayed in room 101, but couldn't bear it in the middle of the night, so I was moved to 209. It was slightly better after midnight, but I was still woken up by vehicle noise around 6 AM. There's nothing that can be done about it, as it's due to the location. If you're not bothered by noise, this place is a good option; it's very convenient to get to the market and attractions. The room facilities are decent and quite new. Breakfast was also good.

There was an offer for this hotel in Luang Prabang. I was impressed with the size of the deluxe room which has a separate living area. There's an air filtering system in the living room which is powerful; ideal if you are in Luang Prabang during the hot months of March, April. This hotel caters mostly to tour groups from China, therefore the labels in the room are in Chinese. For the shower area, turning the tap to the right is for hot water; left, for cold water. You need to run the shower head first to start the hot water flowing. I also like the fly screens in the windows which allow me to let fresh air in. Just make sure that no one is smoking nearby. The mattress and pillows are top quality. The TV is super big and there are both free programmes and paid channels. However, these are all in Mandarin. I paid an extra $1 per night to include the breakfast. There is a wide selection of Chinese cuisine. There's no butter, jam or honey to accompany the toasted bread. It can get very busy during breakfast and it's advisable to come down early at 7 am, when they start the service. The front staff is fantastic. There's free pick-up and drop-off service at airports and train station. The manager is super-communicative. He answered all my enquiries. Although the location is out from the central area, it only takes 30 mins to walk to the city centre. At night, I would use Loca (like Grab) to return back to the hotel. It costs between 65k to 100k KIP.
We believe that the attentive service and top-notch amenities of the Banyan Resort will make your stay in Luang Prabang an unforgettable experience. Our hotel is located on the banks of the Mekong River. There are many attractions nearby, including Pusi Market, Wat Phra Battai and Kaysone Phomvihane Monument. And the hotel is very close to the ancient night market of Luang Prabang and conveniently located. The hotel has a free shuttle bus to the night market in Luang Prabang ancient city. The hotel is decorated in the rooms, each well-equipped room is equipped with an umbrella and LCD TV. For travelers who have a drinking water need, the hotel also provides you with an electric kettle and a coffee / tea maker. In addition to this, a bathroom equipped with slippers and 24 hour hot water is a great place to eliminate the fatigue of the day. Ordering a cup at a coffee shop to eliminate the fatigue of the day is a good relaxing option for travelers. If you prefer a quiet meal, the hotel can provide room delivery. If the hotel's dining doesn't satisfy your discerning taste buds, try the excellent recommended cuisine at nearby Le Tam Tam Garden, Un Petit Nid (Asian) or Satri House Restaurant (Southeast Asian). The hotel's wide range of leisure facilities can create a variety of leisure space for everyone staying here, including massage rooms and fitness rooms. The hotel's conference hall and business center provide excellent service, which is why many business travelers choose to stay here. Foreign travelers can learn about local customs and culture through the multi-lingual staff.

The hotel was clean and comfy, located away from main road and noisiness of street.
The breakfast was good. The staff were great, very helpful, kind and supportive. The free hotel’s shuttle service have been very convenient for getting to night market, to temples , etc.
And when you needed rest and relax, the hotel stand up for its name. It had a great view on Mekong river and having breakfast on balcony overlooking the river was great.
Getting relaxed by swimming pool was very much enjoyable. The water in pool was a bit cold but once you are in , it was nice. The staff kindly showed us how to make tea.

The owner is incredibly welcoming to guests, even offering free rides to the train station for elderly visitors and providing travel tips. The rooms are clean and tidy, and it's quiet at night. They offer a complimentary washing machine and a kitchen for self-catering. The lush greenery and the peaceful, elegant courtyard are delightful. The owner goes above and beyond to meet guests' needs. The hotel is centrally located, close to attractions. I found my stay here very peaceful and comfortable. A huge thumbs up! The gentleman is also very kind and warm-hearted.

All very good, except for the lack of disposable toothbrushes and hair dryer.

Close to the night market, a 7-8 minute walk. There are also reasonably priced restaurants nearby.
This room was larger and had its own balcony. I loved it.

Amazing
AAnonymous UserThis was my first time staying at this hotel (chosen because it is top-rated), but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience for me as a business traveller. Apart from the central location, the stay did not meet my expectations.
I booked a double-bed room and requested the second floor with a temple view. The staff informed me that the second floor was fully booked, and even the double-bed rooms were unavailable, so they gave me a twin room (no. 3) and pushed the beds together. The only good part was that the room still had a partial temple view from the window. The room itself was beautifully decorated, but there were no basic amenities such as slippers, toothbrush, razor, or comb unless requested at reception.
I returned to the hotel close to midnight after a long day, only to find the reception closed, no staff available, and no information on how to contact anyone. There was also no in-room phone. I had to walk barefoot on the cold hard floor, could not brush my teeth, and could not request an iron to prepare for my meeting the next morning.
In the morning, staff were still not present at 6:00 AM when I needed toiletries. When they finally arrived, I overheard the housekeeper saying they had run out of stock and that I should “go buy it outside,” which made me feel quite unwelcome as a guest paying a high room rate. The receptionist then repeated the same message without offering any guidance on where to buy items.
Additionally, while the hotel claims to reduce single-use amenities for environmental reasons, they still provide drinking water in plastic bottles instead of glass — something that should be improved.
I would like to compliment the staff member on duty on the morning of the 12th Nov 2025 at around 6:00 AM. I wanted to prepare food for almsgiving, and he kindly gave me helpful advice. He even went to ask a nearby vendor to bring the items I needed so that I could receive the service conveniently. I truly appreciate his assistance and excellent service.
Overall, the lack of essential amenities, poor service availability, and unprofessional attitude made my stay uncomfortable. This will be my first and last stay at this hotel.
CChou LeSatri House – A Living Museum You Can Sleep In
Staying here feels like stepping into a beautiful dream from another era. Every corner is a work of art. The furniture, the layout, the little details—they all whisper stories of old Indochine charm. It doesn’t feel like a hotel. It feels like you’re actually living in a graceful, historic home.
The architecture is stunning, and the garden and pool are simply gorgeous. Peaceful, timeless, and so beautifully kept.
The staff are warm and genuinely kind. We used the bikes from the resort to explore town, and it added so much joy to the experience.
Breakfast is à la carte, and each dish was delicious—thoughtfully prepared, never rushed. And somehow, every time we stepped out, we came back to a perfectly cleaned room. It’s the kind of care you don’t often see.
Satri House isn’t just a stay—it’s a feeling. One I won’t forget.
SShenhuiThis hotel is nestled in a valley, with several acres of rice paddies at its heart, creating a very natural and ecological environment. You'll often see cows, chickens, and cats roaming around. The breakfast selection is quite extensive, and the Chinese food is incredibly authentic. There are two Chinese staff members at the front desk, so communication was seamless for me. Although it's a bit far from the city center, there's a shuttle bus every hour, which makes getting around very convenient. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserSofitel is unique in Luang Prabang. Just as Tao Yuanming described in Peach Blossom Spring: At first it was very narrow, but only then could people pass through. After walking a few dozen steps, it suddenly became open. After checking in, walking through the corridor, you will immediately feel like you are in a paradise. The 26 rooms are arranged in a square circle, with a tree-lined courtyard in the middle, a 25-meter lotus pond on one side, and a swimming pool of the same size on the other side. All rooms are suites with courtyards and outdoor baths. The rooms are simply furnished, clean and beautiful, and the service is very thoughtful. The only drawback is that there is only one restaurant. However, 3 Naga is a sister hotel, and the hotel provides free shuttle bus to the hotel, which also increases the restaurant selection. I love the hotel because I love the city.
GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay at the 3 star Mekong Charm Hotel, so we decided to stay two night longer than planned. The location is wonderful. The breakfast Terrace is directly above the Mekong river.
The hotel manager lives for her work and is very helpful and friendly. We had nothing to care for. She organized a motorcycle and our train trip to Vientiane. If we come back to Luang Prabang this hotel will be our first choice.
MM432069****The hotel's exterior has a strong local flavor; every photo taken there is beautiful. The front desk has Chinese-speaking staff who are very friendly. While the room furnishings are a bit dated, the cleanliness is quite good. Because some rooms are under renovation, there's some dust during the day, but it doesn't affect occupancy.
The only downside was that our room was on the second floor facing the street, and the noise from passing motorcycles at night was quite loud and slightly affected our sleep. Those who mind this should consider carefully before choosing this hotel.
GGuest UserThe hotel was lovely, conveniently located near the night market and restaurants, yet tucked away from the main road. The rooms were spacious, clean, and boasted comfortable beds. Breakfast offered a good selection of high-quality items. A welcome drink and fruit were provided upon arrival. The staff were very helpful, providing us with information about local attractions, and we easily rented a moped from the hotel for 180k. The pool area was pleasant, though mostly shaded. Some noise from the main garden area was audible through gaps in the doors, but the hotel was generally quiet, so it wasn't a significant issue.
GGuest UserIt's okay for the price~ I liked the balcony.
The bathroom and toilet are separate.
It's not completely clean, and you have to take that into account because it's an old building. The location is a bit far from the night market, but you can walk there, and I rented a scooter, so it wasn't difficult to get around.
GGuest UserDisappointing given this was trip.com recommended and had such a high rating. Receptionist barely spoke a word of English, didn't know we had a reservation, didn't know it was pre paid, had to call his boss on then phone to speak English to me to check us in. Room has coffee cups but no kettle, no coffee or tea. Under the cups was mould and dust. Old soap bar and toothbrush at the back of the sink. Asked for toilet paper and got told it was being ordered and would arrive the next day, next day we got nothing. Had to constantly ask for toilet paper and tissues. When we asked to change the towels we were handed a bundle of towels from the floor that were not even folded. The courtyard was messy with open Garbage bags around. The room was generally ok and the beds ok. The shower was good with plenty of very hot water. The lady receptionist and the man were both friendly and tried to help but basically had to call their boss on the phone to do absolutely anything and they were not really able to help with things. We asked about a possible late check out and were advised if we tipped the housekeeper we could stay until about 1:30 as the housekeeper goes home at 2pm and has about 12 rooms to clean that day. We checked out at the checl out time of 11:30 and the house keepers went straight to our room to clean it. Surely if the other 12 rooms all checked out at check out time they woul be cleaning those rooms? And how much do you tip? It was very ambiguous and they said they didn't want to end up charging us if we checked out late. It really seemed like - if you want to check out late then you need to pay our staff for staying longer, we would have been happy to pay an agreed amount but to leave a tip and not suggest an amount was not very clear.
It amazes me how this place gets such a good score. The location is good, there are nice restaurants nearby but the service is poor.
