Hotels near Baan Lana, Kyoto

The hotel's location is excellent, right outside Kyoto Station. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options around Kyoto Station itself. It's also very convenient for getting to Shijo (just take a bus from Kyoto Station's central exit) and to places like Arashiyama and Kifune Shrine. The airport shuttle stop isn't far either. The hotel is a bit older, but it's very clean and quite spacious for a Japanese hotel. It's great value for money for families traveling together. Highly recommend!

For this price point, all I can say is it's an absolute steal! You can really trust big brands. I'm usually someone who goes from basic to luxurious when choosing hotels, and the day before arriving here, I picked a more budget-friendly option. But this 'budget' hotel was so good, I didn't want to leave! It felt small yet cozy. Plus, there's a bath, and coming back from a morning run to soak in the tub was just heavenly. They even have a bar on the ground floor! Every day before heading out, I'd grab a lollipop or ice cream to kick off my city walk. My family loved it. The location is a bit further out, so walking can be tiring on your feet. After a morning run, we relied on taxis for getting around during the day. I couldn't quite figure out the subway; it seemed like the JR pass wasn't valid. Next time I visit, I plan to stay for an extended period. There's really no need to spend thousands or tens of thousands to stay at those top-tier hotels. I haven't felt particularly pampered or that it was exceptionally good there. For instance, the Park Hyatt is so expensive, primarily for its location. Everything else was just so-so, and the restaurants were incredibly crowded with a strong greasy smell.

Saw the hotel right outside the subway exit and didn't want to drag my luggage around looking for another place. The location is super convenient, and the price was a great deal – the cheapest hotel I booked this week. Despite that, the hotel's cleanliness and facilities were absolutely top-notch, and they even have a public bath. The front desk staff only spoke English and Japanese, but their service was excellent, and using a translation app for check-in was perfectly fine. It's a straight 10-15 minute walk to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and probably just one stop away from Kyoto Station.

Entry is a bit hidden. 😆 staff is friendly. Room is really spacious. After open 3 big luggage plus 2 small luggage still have lots of space. Got umbrella for guest. Got facial marks etc personal items for guest. Really nice.

My four-night stay at Iwatoyama Hostel was truly fantastic, and it's definitely a place I'd love to visit again. From the moment I arrived, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lobby is spacious and bright, and the common areas are tastefully and simply decorated, making it easy to relax, chat, or organize luggage. It’s also a great spot for travelers to connect. The room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and fresh-smelling linens, ensuring a good night's sleep every night. The bathroom was kept very clean, well-stocked with amenities, and had stable hot water and good water pressure. Throughout my four-day stay, I could tell the hostel paid great attention to cleanliness; the common areas were always spotless, which made me feel very comfortable. The location is a major plus. It’s conveniently located near the station, making public transportation or walking to attractions very easy. There are also convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so finding something to eat in the evening was never an issue. It’s an ideal base for exploring Kyoto, saving a lot of travel time. The friendly and welcoming staff truly enhanced my stay. The front desk staff provided clear explanations and patiently assisted with any issues, making me feel right at home. Even brief conversations showed their genuine care. They offered detailed advice on travel information and transportation, which was incredibly helpful for an out-of-town guest. The facilities are excellent too. The communal kitchen is well-equipped, so it's easy to prepare simple meals. The laundry facilities are convenient, especially for guests staying multiple days. The overall environment is quiet and comfortable, with no noisy disturbances, allowing for a restful night. These four nights made my trip even smoother and more enjoyable. The cleanliness, location, service quality, and overall ambiance all met or exceeded my expectations. If I return to Kyoto in the future, I will definitely choose this hostel again and recommend it to my friends. A big thank you to the hostel team for such a wonderful experience!

The unit is conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from the train station and near a shopping area, with several good eateries nearby. The unit itself is compact — there are only two double beds, two chairs and a small table, which feels a bit cramped for four medium-sized adults. The balcony gets morning sunlight, which is great for drying clothes. However, the washing machine filter was dirty and required cleaning before we felt comfortable using it. The kitchen utensils provided were minimal — only 3 forks, 2 spoons, and 2 teaspoons, although there were 4 plates and bowls. It wasn’t quite enough for a group of four. There were also no extra garbage bags provided, so by the end of our few days stay, the bin was nearly overflowing. The beds were on the soft side — which my children enjoyed — but they made squeaky noises when lying down. Also, do note that there’s no front desk service, so luggage storage before check-in or after check-out is not available.

We checked in late, but the staff waited for us until we arrived before leaving, which we really appreciated. It was super convenient having Chinese-speaking staff. The hotel's location is quite convenient, a quiet spot amidst the hustle and bustle. The environment is clean and simple. Our room had a separate wet and dry area, so there's nothing to complain about. Plus, the soundproofing is pretty good, so we slept soundly. The price is also very reasonable for Kyoto. We drove there, and there's a 24-hour parking lot in the alley behind for 1600 yen.

I chose this hotel because it is close to the city center. After actually checking in, I found that the location is very convenient. It is only a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Shijo in the center of Kyoto. Moreover, there is a Lawson convenience store next door to the hotel, which is very convenient. There is also a Michelin ramen shop next door to the convenience store. Although the store was not open during renovations during our stay, we were not late. Come back next time if we have a chance. The room was very clean and the stay was very comfortable. It is also very convenient to use the password to operate the door lock if you don’t have a room card. You don’t have to worry about losing the room card. I lost my room card in other hotels before and I was compensated 5,000 yen😵💫. Because I don’t have a room card, it is very convenient to check out before the check-out time. That's it. Very convenient. Because the surrounding public transportation is very convenient to go everywhere, I left my luggage at the front desk on the day of check-out and continued sightseeing in Kyoto for a while before leaving. The only drawback is that the temple opposite will ring the bell every morning, but as long as it’s not like me who likes to sleep until 10 o’clock every day, it shouldn’t affect it😬

This hotel offers incredible value for money! I saw some reviews mentioning no windows, but I found that if you pull back the curtain behind the bed, there's a window that allows for ventilation! The location is excellent, with a bus stop right downstairs and the subway not far. It's very close to Sanjusangen-do Temple and convenient for visiting Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine! The hotel is also connected to a 7-Eleven, making it super easy to grab anything you need. In the common areas, there's hot water and a microwave available, and a simple breakfast is provided in the mornings. There were a lot of foreign guests, and the front desk staff spoke good English, giving it a vibe similar to the youth hostels I've stayed at in Europe. I went on a weekday and paid less than 200 for a single room. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised – the decor and details are adorable! Highly recommend! I'd definitely come back if I have the chance!
