Daiwa Roynet Hotel KYOTO-SHIJYOKARASUMA (Reopening on March 14, 2026)

Really good! It's close to the subway station and convenience stores. The hotel staff are also very nice, and the room is quite spacious. There's a police station right across from the hotel, so it's a suitable and safe place for solo travelers.

Overall, it's newly renovated and offers a great experience. There's a laundry facility, and the breakfast is fantastic too.

This was one of my favorite hotels during my trip to Japan. Since it's newly renovated, everything looks very new and modern. The location is also great, very close to the main shopping street and just a 2-minute walk from the subway station. The room facilities are good too, and the front desk staff are friendly.

The room was quite spacious, bigger than other places I've stayed. However, the hallway always had a strange smell. It's very close to the subway station, and there's free matcha latte available on the first floor. There's also a convenience store just a left turn when you exit, which is pretty convenient.

The hotel has been recently renovated, and the facilities and space are quite good. For breakfast, you can choose between noodles and vermicelli with different soup bases; the taste was decent, neither good nor bad. The location is very close to the subway exit, although that particular exit is a bit far from the actual station entrance.

The hotel met my expectations; the facilities and services were good. The self-checkout was quick and easy. The only reason I'm not giving a full score is because I left a banana peel and hoped it would be taken out the next morning, so I put up the 'change towels' magnet. However, when I returned in the evening, there was a bag outside my door with fresh towels, but no one had actually entered the room, so the trash wasn't removed.

About a five-minute walk from the main street, which is actually quite close, but Kyoto in July is sweltering. There's a subway station just a block away from the hotel, making it very convenient to get to Kyoto JR. Overall, everything was pretty good – a lively area yet still peaceful. If the price is right, it's definitely worth considering.
