Had a great stay here. The environment was lovely, and I was even welcomed by a few birds when I checked in, which added a nice touch. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, with two pillow options provided, and the room felt cozy overall. The hotel is conveniently near the train station (~200m away), and the staff were very helpful in locating my parcels (Taobao) after a delivery was left in an unusual spot. They actually have a parcel delivery corner in this hotel :)
Breakfast was decent, though it became a little repetitive over a 5-night stay, but there are also a few breakfast options nearby if you prefer eating outside. I would say 3-day hotel breakfast is sufficient unless I am in a hurry. Although the hotel name includes “Xintiandi,” it is actually around 1.5 km from the main Xintiandi area. Still, it is a good option if you prefer staying somewhere quieter while remaining close to public transport. I also enjoyed the nearby Lu One mall, which is worth checking out if you have time.

This stay was absolutely perfect! 💯 The hotel's location is unbeatable, close to the subway and tourist attractions, making it super convenient for shopping and sightseeing. The room was spotless, and the bathroom with its separate wet and dry areas was clean and refreshing. The mattress was just right, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The air conditioning was quiet, the WiFi was fast, and all the facilities were well-maintained and easy to use. Check-in at the front desk was incredibly fast, and the staff were gentle and attentive, responding promptly to any requests. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Overall, the value for money was exceptional, making my trip comfortable and worry-free. Five stars, I'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel and I cancelled my return booking and will not be booking them again. It is unfortunate since the location is ideal and the rooms are clean and spacious, however the room was extremely hot, muggy, stuffy with no air circulation. I stayed from April 5-8, 2026 and they have their central cooling air conditioning “OFF” for the winter months. When asked why it was off when it’s over 80 degrees Fahrenheit outside, the staff could only tell me that yes, a lot of people have been complaining but that unfortunately they are not allowed to turn it on until leadership gives them the go ahead. The photo of the thermostat was taken at 3am when it was 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside but over 80 degrees in my room- unbearably hot to fall asleep. I literally watched it go up from 26 Celsius to 27 Celsius in the middle of the night when it was cold outside. Their solution was to offer me a fan (mind you, I already asked the day before and that was with the fan on already), or to change rooms at 3am (don’t know that it would make a difference since there is still no air conditioning in another room) and/or provide me breakfast- which I refused because I didn’t have the time to eat it in the morning. No other solution was given to address the temperature in the room. I asked to speak to a supervisor but was told the supervisor doesn’t start work until 10am- and when I inquired again at 1pm the next day they told me unfortunately the supervisor decided not to come to work that day. So even though air conditioning is mentioned as an amenity that is available, it is not useable because they turn it off completely for the whole hotel (except for the lobby- it’s on in the lobby). I don’t know that leaving the air conditioning off really saves them that much because I was instead having to take 3-5 showers a night, wasting lots of water to try and stay cool to keep my sanity. Also, a negative point that the building on the street side is under heavy construction/ completely wrapped, so it was extremely dusty and a bit noisy, dodging construction heading out and coming in from the street. I originally had another stay here in 5 days, but decided to cancel and book another hotel with air conditioning. Out of their control probably, but still not pleasant arriving unexpectedly to a construction zone. Heads up- the Hanting hotel next door said their air conditioning is on and you can adjust the temp in the room yourself, unlike Campanile. I will be avoiding this hotel chain in the future for this reason.
Location: 5 stars (next to line 13 on one side of the street, and line 1/10/12 on the end of the other block)
Service: 2 stars (only gave a 2 because the staff tried to be polite and I could tell it was out of their power to make any changes to turn on their air conditioning)
Air Conditioning: -5 stars ( there is no cooling option- though they said the air circulation mode is on- it wasn’t doing anything at all)
Overall: Avoid because temperature in a hotel really dictates huge part of your comfort level.
The hotel is located in the central area of Shanghai People's Square and Nanjing Road, adjacent to the Bund and Huaihai Middle Road Commercial Street. The hotel is located in the central area of Shanghai People's Square; adjacent to Shanghai Grand Theater and Shanghai Museum; about 10 minutes walk to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and Huaihai Road Business District; about 15 minutes walk to the Bund, Yu Garden, Yunnan Road Food Street, Xintiandi and other famous tourist attractions; about 10 minutes walk to Metro Line 1, 2, 8 People's Square Station. About 10 minutes walk to Changzheng Hospital.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in all aspects. Apart form excellent location, the service and quality of accommodation was all first class. Polite and helpful staff, clean and comfy room and quiet in the night, what else to wish for. We didn't take photos of the room but is exactly as displayed on website.

I chose this hotel because it was close to a client I was visiting. I know this area is very expensive, but I didn't expect the bathroom to be so small that I'd hit my arm just washing my face. However, I must commend the electric toilet seat! On the other hand, the room's cleanliness was very poor, especially the white bedsheets which were covered in black lint. Even worse, there were body hairs under the top sheet, visible through the fabric. I took photos, but I doubt they'd show up well. Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for Rujia (Home Inn) to begin with, as it's a budget chain. Perhaps it's because my last stay at a Rujia in Beijing, for 20 days while my home was being renovated, was so spacious and clean, that this one felt like a letdown!

A Charming Stay at a Tiny, Cozy Hotel
Tucked away from the busy streets, this small hotel feels like a hidden gem that instantly wraps you in warmth. Though compact in size, every corner is thoughtfully designed—soft lighting, tasteful decor, and little touches like fresh flowers or warm blankets make it feel far more intimate than a standard chain hotel.
The room itself is snug but perfectly laid out, with a comfortable bed, clean amenities, and just enough space to relax after a long day. There’s no wasted room, but everything you need is within easy reach, and the quiet atmosphere makes it easy to unwind.
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always greeting you with a smile and happy to help with recommendations or small requests. Even the common areas, though small, feel inviting—great for a quick coffee or a casual chat.
What this hotel lacks in size, it more than makes up for in charm and comfort. It’s quiet, clean, welcoming, and feels like a home away from home. If you prefer a cozy, personal stay over a large, impersonal hotel, this place is absolutely ideal. I left feeling rested and content, and I’d happily return on my next visit.

This is the best hostel I've ever stayed in!!
First, the location. It's right by the bar street, which is super convenient for going out and finding food, and you don't have to deal with the high prices of the city center. Great value for money.
Next, the service. The two ladies at the front desk had an amazing attitude. They greeted me with smiles, patiently answered my questions, and even helped me get my favorite room. On my last day, I wanted to rest a bit longer at noon, and one of them gave me a late check-out for free... I was so touched!
Then, and most importantly, the environment. Everywhere smelled lovely, and the facilities were comprehensive. The bedding was new and clean, and there were individual shower stalls fully stocked with various toiletries. They even thoughtfully provided hair ties for women, which really shows incredible attention to detail. It felt just like staying at home.
Everything about this place shows how much effort they put into running it. It's truly a rare gem. I never write reviews, but my experience was so good that I had to. This week in Shanghai was absolutely wonderful.
I actually had other plans to move to a different place, but it was so comfortable here that I couldn't bear to leave, so I extended my stay for two more nights, haha! Seriously, you have to stay at this hotel; it's one of the best in the entire country!
Located in the Huangpu District of central Shanghai, Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden is near the famous Yuyuan Garden. It is within 5 minutes walk to Metro Line 10 Yuyuan Station and Line 8 Laoximen station. The hotel is only 10 minutes away from Xintiandi, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and the Bund. It is also surrounded by shopping malls and entertainment outlets. The hotel features 223 stylish rooms, a Chinese and French buffet breakfast restaurant and gym, which will be the ideal choice for business and leisure travellers.

This Bund hotel stay was absolutely amazing! It's just a 5-minute walk to the riverside, and my room had floor-to-ceiling windows with a perfect view of the Lujiazui 'Three-Piece Suit' – I could watch the Oriental Pearl Tower light up at night right from my bed. The smart toilet and automatic curtains were super convenient, and soaking in the bathtub while enjoying the river view was just heavenly! The freshly baked croissants at breakfast were so good they were practically addictive. The rooftop bar had incredible night views, and the cocktails created a fantastic ambiance. The front desk even proactively upgraded my room and sent welcome fruits, and the robot delivering food was adorable. The soundproofing was excellent; I slept like a baby until I woke up naturally. Plus, free laundry and drying service was such a thoughtful touch! The location is unbeatable – Yu Garden and Nanjing Road are within walking distance, and the subway station is right outside. For around 400+ RMB per person, it felt like a thousand-yuan experience. As a detail-oriented person, I was completely won over. I'm definitely booking this place again on my next trip to Shanghai!

The location is fantastic, with plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options nearby. Ruijin Hospital is also conveniently close. The front desk kindly upgraded us to a family room for free, which was located on the side near residential buildings, so it was quiet and peaceful. The room was very clean, and we even received complimentary welcome fruit. While the breakfast selection wasn't huge, it was fresh, clean, and delicious, featuring many authentic local flavors – excellent!

CCiky2023Our romantic winter getaway began the moment we stepped into Dino Starry Resort, immediately feeling a warm welcome. Unlike a typical hotel's impersonal atmosphere, the staff here felt like old friends, making us feel right at home and completely relaxed.
Getting to Disneyland was a breeze with their Mercedes shuttle, which departed at our pre-arranged time. Breakfast was plentiful, and our room was spotless and tidy. The overall environment was lovely, and there were even small animals in the backyard that we could feed for free.
The biggest surprise, though, was experiencing authentic winter fun. We gathered around a traditional earthen pot stove, warming ourselves and chatting, or enjoyed a steaming hotpot cooked in a vintage hanging pot. On sunny days, we even had a lively outdoor BBQ with plenty of smoke and laughter. From the rustic charm of the earthen pot to the nostalgic feel of the hanging pot and the vibrant energy of the BBQ, this place had it all.
Dino Starry is more than just a place to stay; it's a wonderful space where you can unwind, leave your weariness behind, and relive cherished moments. Come and gather with your loved ones here, and collect a whole winter's worth of warmth amidst delicious food and laughter!
MMenglitanle. The facilities are great, and the room is spacious. Every time I come to Shanghai, I stay at this hotel. The front desk service is excellent, and the cleaning staff do a thorough and meticulous job. I highly recommend this place; they even have free popcorn at the front desk and complimentary whiskey. My girlfriend and I always stay here. The movies are also great, and there's a free membership that allows screen casting. Rooms with windows offer a view of the plane trees.
GGuest UserWe booked for airport transfer from the hotel via we chat. They response very quickly. However the shuttle got problem on the way and could not make it to the airport but they informed us quickly and try to help in every way. The service and their responsibility are impressive. During our stay, the front and the bell are very helpful. They try to help for every request we ask. They cannot speak English but that was not the problem, with translation equipment, the communication is no more the problem.
The facilities are superb. Shower with good water flow, easily adjusted. I really love their shampoo with Sandalwood fragrance, good quality. We stay in zootopia room. The room was designed with nice details. The mattress and blanket are good quality. They even have massage chair at the lobby, very thoughtful for the long day at Disneyland.
The food are mostly Chinese way, but they have some selection for kids and foreigner. The fried vegetables are tasty, freshly from the family garden in front of the hotel. Our family enjoy the breakfast.
The location is good for the ones who would like to have a touch with local not the city. Many local restaurants and supermarkets around the hotel. Easily access to Disneyland. Their Disney shuttle system via we chat is very effective. I picked this hotel because they provide many rounds of Disney transfers. And even we pick other time, taxi is just 18-20 yuan, 10 min away. The hotel is quite far away from Shanghai city 1+ hours by taxi. But it is in the middle between city and Shanghai astronomy museum, which suits us well.
Thanks all staffs for the hospitality.
IimnotminFrom the moment you step into the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, the elegant charm of Old Shanghai beautifully intertwines with the Bund's vibrant bustle. From your room, you can take in the Lujiazui skyline, with the Huangpu River's day and night flow just outside your window. The personalized concierge service from Aaron Echole was incredibly meticulous, and the entire staff, from concierge to the front desk, exuded the calm sophistication of a long-standing luxury hotel. Enjoying a 'Shanghai Club' cocktail at the Long Bar in the evening felt like stepping back in time to the social scene of a century ago. An absolutely impeccable stay.
GGuest UserThe Peninsula Shanghai, nestled by the Waibaidu Bridge, the Monument to the People's Heroes, and the Bund, might not be described as 'convenient' in the traditional sense, but I found its location perfect for soaking in the unique Shanghainese vibe! The service here is wonderfully old-school and distinctively 'Shanghai' – unhurried yet efficient, demonstrating a clear and deep understanding of guest needs. The rooms are classic Peninsula style, with well-defined functional areas, superb soundproofing, and impeccable cleanliness and maintenance, putting my mind completely at ease. The dining experience was a genuine delight; both breakfast and the Cantonese restaurant in the evening were so memorable. I particularly loved the evening bath ritual – pressing the SPA button and immersing myself in the tranquil, ethereal music, it felt like I was back in a cozy island retreat! My two-day Peninsula experience was a solid 12 out of 10. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai who wants to truly experience its unique charm!
AAnonymous UserThe hotel has a minimalist Japanese style, with a clean and atmospheric environment. The staff are very friendly, warm, and thoughtful. They offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport on the hour, which is super convenient for catching flights – a big plus!
However, staying for four consecutive days, the breakfast selection was incredibly monotonous and never changed. It got really boring after a while. The late-night snack options were also very limited, with only noodles and congee available – far too few choices.
Furthermore, during my stay, I noticed that the indoor air felt stuffy and poorly ventilated, always with a stale odor. My room was close to the road, so opening the window meant car noise, but closing it made the room stuffy and smelly, which significantly reduced my comfort.
On a positive note, they thoughtfully gave me a small souvenir when I checked out, which was a lovely touch. Overall, the service and airport shuttle were good, but the stay would be much better if they could improve the breakfast variety, add more late-night snack options, enhance room ventilation and soundproofing, and eliminate the stale indoor smell.
EElianaCThis review is long overdue! I was in Shanghai for a business trip in early March, and it happened to be raining heavily then. The underfloor heating gave me the warmest, most comfortable night's sleep, and the duvet cover felt incredibly soft. It was my first time staying in a Shikumen building, and the courtyard was so unique and stylish. Both the courtyard and the room's interior design were absolutely beautiful. The unit I stayed in was located on West Yan'an Road, very close to Xintiandi and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. It was perfect – I could just stroll back after dinner in Bei Li. Check-in was also a breeze. I saw that the host manages several other unique B&Bs, so I'd love to try them out sometime!
GGuest UserOur stay was absolutely wonderful! The room was spotless, and the bedding was so soft and comfortable, we slept soundly. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The facilities were comprehensive and had everything we needed. Plus, the location was incredibly convenient – we could easily get to wherever we wanted to go, and it was still quiet, not noisy at all. Overall, we were extremely satisfied and highly recommend staying here!
JjaspenI've wanted to stay at the W Shanghai - The Bund for a long time, and finally got to during my recent trip to Shanghai. It wasn't as perfect as I'd imagined.
First, the good points: The environment is nice, and the cleanliness is decent. The staff are very friendly, and the breakfast offers a wide variety. The outdoor bar was the best experience.
Now, for the less satisfying aspects:
1. Previously, when staying at hotels, you could contact scalpers or certain individuals on platforms to use their membership tiers for room upgrades. Since I booked in advance, I contacted them early about a possible upgrade. I was told that if there was an available room type on the day, I could be upgraded. However, on the day of check-in, they claimed there were no rooms available and didn't upgrade me. At the time, I checked the Ctrip app and saw that rooms *were* available. I'm a platinum member with upgrade benefits, and I still didn't get one.
2. My Ctrip booking included two complimentary drinks, but the front desk didn't provide vouchers during check-in. I only found out at the bar that I needed to go back to the front desk to get them.
3. I had a lot of things and wanted to use the black bag in the closet. Unfortunately, it was broken, and the hotel hadn't replaced it in time.
GGuest UserI stayed here temporarily for a visa appointment. Although the room is small, it's reflected in the price, and it was perfectly fine for one person. The location is downtown, close to everything. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean and tidy. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I'm very satisfied! ✅
