"The hotel staff are friendly. Note that the hotel does not accept cash for payments, including the tourist tax for your stay.
The hotel itself is nice, modern, and equipped with a lift. The hotel focuses on minimalism, so you won't find a closed-door wardrobe. Both the room and toilet are equipped with a heater. The bed and latex pillows are comfortable. They also provide branded Nuxe shampoo and handwash.
Complimentary bottled water and coffee drinks are provided only on the first day of your stay.
However, there are a few areas where the hotel fell below my expectations:
No free slippers or toiletries (e.g., toothbrush and toothpaste) are provided.
The water flow from the shower is weak, although still bearable.
No fridge in the room.
You need to request an electric kettle from the receptionist. (How much would it cost to place one in each room?)
The most disappointing factor is that the air conditioner did not allow me to select ”cold” mode during my stay in mid-April—it only had ”heat” mode. Seriously?
Also, if you plan to store your luggage overnight at the hotel, it won't be possible as they do not accept overnight storage.
Location note:
The hotel is located about 500 metres from Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid station. It can be quite scary walking from the train station to the hotel at night, as the surrounding area is occupied by African shops and residences. This may not be convenient for female travellers.
If your budget allows, I suggest staying at the Pullman, which is adjacent to the train station, especially if you need to catch an early train the next day. Otherwise, consider staying near Grand Place."
"The location is near the Brussels- Midi train station. Very convenient and walkable distance. The hotel is a typical 4 star standard hotel. So you don't need to worry about their service.
The room is clean and quite big in general. Breakfast buffet has enough variety but to be honest with the price of 23 euro is a bit high. The jacuzzi is well-known but I didn't have time to try it out. There's a gym room in the hotel. Hotel service person is friendly. You can store luggage safely in this hotel. They have a big storage room and double check properly the tags when you redeem your luggage. So that you won't be worrying about someone taking your luggage ."
"The location might be close to the train station, but I was not comfortable with the people in the street in front of the hotel. Great value and if you’re with friends and family, for the price, it’s worth it. I would say though some rooms have poorer noise cancelling than others but overall, clean and firm bed which I appreciate."
"I really liked everything about the hotel. It was clean, and the service was 10000% perfect! All the amenities were there too. It even reminded me of a competing chain hotel whose name starts with 'I' and ends with 'BIS'. But, as you know, the neighborhood plays a significant role. It's best not to stroll around there in the evening unless you're a 'marginal' type of person. If you are, though, you'll easily find company and maybe even best friends, as they're sleeping everywhere there. Since Brussels isn't a very big city, it's only a 15-minute walk from the hotel to the Manneken Pis. So, everything was great! I recommend it."
"So close but not so far from the old town or maybe the attractions which is good, if you’re staying inside around the grand palace, it may get noisy so this place is really in a good place so location is very strategic 😘 From the train station (Midi Station), 2 stops away and you can walk to the hotel easily 🫶🏻 This hotel is kinda old so it gives off the old vibes but you got what you need and breakfast is good 😄 everybody is so welcoming ~ if you’re in a budget and still want a good hotel to stay, here is the place 👍🏻 thank you 🫰🏻"
"It is a new hotel next to Brussels-Midi station. The decor is very modern. The staffs are super friendly. The room is clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed it. They have a small cafe in the lobby and there are many place to hang out. There is also a small gym in the basement which is quite nice. Overall, it was a good stay."
"Hotel location is next to transportation hub which is really good as we were travelling across with Eurostar. Bedroom was really spacious and comfortable to stay. air con was really powerful during the summer heat. Only would recommend to have brighter lightings in the toilet as its a lil dark."
"A very pleasant little hotel, well located and perfect for a short stay. The welcome was friendly. The room was simple but clean and comfortable. Good value for money. I recommend it!"
"I was in Brussels for a ten-day business trip, and this hotel is really close to Midi (South) Station, just a few minutes' walk across the road. The front desk staff were nice. Just a heads up, there's a city tax that needs to be paid upon arrival. There's a small restaurant on the ground floor where guests were having drinks and beer. Breakfast is served on the other side of the elevators, but we didn't opt for it as it was a bit pricey.
Luggage storage is self-service in the basement. The large lockers can fit two 24-inch suitcases plus a backpack or two. I think it was €10 for the day, and you can access your luggage multiple times. It has a dual password setup, with both numbers and a pattern.
Check-in is at 3 PM. You use your card to access the upper floors. Once in the room, the space was decent and had everything we needed. As is typical in Europe, you'll need to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and slippers. There's no complimentary bottled water, so I'd recommend buying some from the supermarket nearby. The Carrefour inside South Station has large SPA mineral water bottles for under €2. The overall accommodation environment is as shown in the pictures. The bed was quite large; two of us slept comfortably without feeling cramped. Oh, and the shower room comes with shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, which is a big plus!
They change the trash bags and tidy up the bedding daily. We left our suitcases in the room without any valuables inside. The lock I bought beforehand didn't really come in handy (I'd heard about safety concerns around South Station before coming, but our actual experience was quite good)."
"Clean and spacious room, however the area where the hotel is located is very dirty"

Great
NNachtischThe hotel doesn't have its own parking, but there's a convenient underground parking garage right next door. The location is excellent, making it easy to get anywhere. There's a water dispenser in the hallway and a capsule coffee machine in the room. The room itself is spacious, but the cleaning wasn't quite up to par, as there were items left behind by the previous guest. The shower area in the bathroom becomes very slippery when wet, posing a fall risk, and the toilet door doesn't have a lock.
AAnonymous UserAbout 5 mins walk to closest public transport, close to main attractions! Environment was great, especially in lobby, restaurant and room. Highly recommended!
GGuest UserOne of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. Highly recommend this hotel to everyone; everything was amazing, from location and
the staff. You can truly feel the high-quality, star-level service here. They helped us with everything and made our stay very comfortable. Also, definitely try the room service: the smash burger here is absolutely delicious. Would 100% recommend this hotel!
AAidingbaoliulanghanService: I'm about to give the worst service review. On my first stay, your hotel's front desk had a Caucasian female employee who initially gave me half of a family suite. Only after I emphasized the room type I booked did she change it for me. The hotel wasn't so fully booked that she couldn't have assigned me the room I pre-booked. Why would you try to pass off a partitioned room as a full one, treating customers like fools? I was extremely angry about this. And it wasn't just the room assignment; the room card she gave me was just a plain power card. Couldn't she provide a proper, decent room card? It's hard for me not to suspect some malicious intent. I hope you can give me a satisfactory explanation.
Otherwise, my overall review of this hotel is very positive. The accommodation environment is good, the room facilities are sufficient, the location is great, and transportation is convenient. The room design is also beautiful, and I took many photos. I highly recommend staying here. If I come to Brussels again, I would indeed choose Cardo again. However, the subtle malice from your front desk and the unpleasant check-in experience disappointed me so much that it nearly ruined my entire stay, even though everything else was perfect.
CCansuqixingThis hotel is really old... Don't let the five-star rating fool you, it feels more like a three-star. The elevator is incredibly slow, from 1999! The furniture in the room is also very dated. The front desk sells bottled water in glass bottles for 8 euros a pop – ridiculous. As our Belgian client told us, the hotel's location is right between a safe area and an unsafe one. It's close to the light rail, but there's no elevator from the light rail station to the street level, which is quite annoying. Walking to the city center is fairly convenient though. For the price, it offers good value for money; other hotels in the same area are more expensive.
GGuest UserLovely boutique hotel in a perfect location steps away from Grand Place, clean, comfortable, nice staff. Quirky little decor details made it special. Great for a short break.
JJoe the world citizenThe hotel is very nice and modern. The staffs are helpful and friendly. The room is spacious and clean. The only problem is the location. It is not located in the touristy area. There is no easy public transportation to the grand place except by bus or taxi/uber. Walking to grand place takes around 30 mins passing through Brussels Park and Royal Palace. The positive point is that the area where the hotel is located is very quiet.
ZZhuyuxixiThe hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right near Brussels' Grand Place – literally a two-minute walk away. There are tons of restaurants and shops nearby, making it super convenient. The room itself was surprisingly spacious, which is a rare find in Europe, and the facilities were great. Having a kettle was a huge plus for us. We stayed for two nights, and the steak restaurant directly across from the hotel entrance was amazing – delicious and not expensive, so it was incredibly convenient to grab a meal right outside. Overall, this hotel offers excellent value for money and I highly recommend it!
GGuest UserThe hotel is very close to FlixBus bus stop! There is a police station and halal supermarket for Muslim community behind the hotel. The hotel should consider having 2 front desk workers at a time instead of just 1 person manning the front desk. When there are group of people talking and running around at the hotel room corridor, I couldn’t find the front desk person to solve the problem as there was no one at the front desk.
GGuest UserPlus:
The room is really big. So is the bed. It is so big that makes me think as if it is king size bed to house politicians or prime minister from the 80s, 90s.
There is heating both in the room and in the shower
There is air con set in the room( but I didn't try to see if it works)
This hotel is located less than 10 mins walk from Brussels north station
Minus
The room look really old. May be 90s, if not 80s.
There is no carpet on the floor. It is really clean but it is really cold to step on. Bring your own slippers.
The room is dim. And some lights were spoilt.
Even if was told it is a non smoking room, the room has lingering smoking smell. Someone smoked in this room before. I told the front desk, he said he will check but when I return from the city , the smell is there still.
The bathroom has some odd smell. May b smell of roaches, or roaches in the pipes.
The shower curtain smell of mould and damp cloth/ damp laundry.
The heating stop around 2am. May b there is max amount of heating one room could use. Make sure you time your heating usage carefully.
The wall is really thin. You can hear when someone is around the lift, going towards their room or what next door is up to.
I can hear everything happening outside, on the street, from police car n siren rushing up and down, to people wondering on the street, their conversation. I don't feel safe here. I can't relax and sleep.
I don't like the paper cup given together with coffee and the place to brush teeth. May be the hotel suffer too often from being stolen . But that make the hotel rating dropping from 1star hotel to guest house.
The toilet spoilt in the middle of the night and you can hear water flowing all night. Need to maneuver with the old school toilet pull button .
I appreciate the effort they maintain it but personally I don't like it. unless you have really early bus or train to catch, and is on a shoe string budget then it is your choice.
