Very attentive and welcoming host. The owner or the manager informed us all the details we needed for the stay from the beginning, including the time of the sunrise and sunset for us to view the Meili mountain, and supported us on all our requests. He introduced us to the next-door restaurant owner, who is his friend, when we asked for a restaurant recommendation, so the owner took very good care of us.
The hotel room is fully equipped with heated floor, air humidifier, oxygen machine, and even a projector.
You can view the mountain during sunrise on the rooftop of the hotel, or can also walk to the observation deck within 5 mins walk.

This hotel offers a great location to view the Meili Snow Mountains during the morning golden peak and also sunset (if you're lucky with the weather conditions). It is right next to the bus stop, which means it is very convenient if you are planning to catch an early morning bus (in our case). Rooms can be a bit pricey, but we know that we are essentially paying for the view. The food at the hotel is also tasty, I didn't need to go and look anywhere else for dinner and breakfast. I appreciated the great help that was provided by a staff named Xiao Wei. We arrived at the hotel when it was raining and wasn't expecting to see any mountain range in sight, but then the sky suddenly cleared up during the evening just shortly before sunset whilst we were having dinner and Xiao Wei came over to tell us to go and have a look at the snow mountain, which made our hearts rushed with joy. We also appreciated when Xiao Wei told us again during night time that the mountain range was visible so we quickly opened the curtain to treat ourselves with another fantastic view. The viewing platform on the top floor is a great location to see the sunrise and golden peak. I personally think it's even better viewing at the Feilai Temple platform that most tourists go to. On a final note, Xiao Wei again was very kind to help us by going to the bus platform at 8.30 AM in the morning to help us purchase the bus tickets from the driver (we couldn't do so as wechat pay didn't work for us).
We were very happy with our stay here and got very lucky with some of the best views during our entire Yunnan trip. Thank you very much to Xiao Wei and the staff at Once Upon A Time in Meili :)

Most of the guest who booked this hotel probably going for the sunrise on meili snow mountain. The location and view from this hotel is perfect for the sunrise (only when the skies is clear so checking the forecast in advance ). Hence, you will encounter noises as early as 5am where people will drive and stop along the road right infront of your hotel. At 6 in the morning, you can be sure that you are not alone by looking down the road and you can see there will be full of cars and people downstairs. Surrounding of the hotel have basically nothing. Be sure you prepared what you need before you check in. The staffs there are very friendly, helpful and approachable.

The view of Meili Snow Mountain is the main attraction of this hotel, it was possible to see the sunrise from the comfort of the room. However, the rest of the facilities and hospitality do not justify the price. We found this to be a below average room that would be less than half the price were it not for the mountain view. We recommend booking elsewhere and viewing the sunrise from the public viewing area.

Nice afternoon tea when we arrive. The front desk people are nice and friendly, guide us on the room equipment. There’s a nice view of snow mountain. Lucky us managed to catch 日照金山 with just 1 night stay. The breakfast has set meal + buffet style, food is nice. There’s also cute dogs around.

The room was upgraded to the highest floor, 5th floor, facing Meili Snow Mountain. The weather was sunny on the day we arrived, and we saw the golden mountain in the morning, but unfortunately the clouds were too thick the next day. It was a bit regrettable. The hotel is very close to the Feilai Temple Observation Deck. The 4th floor of the 107 Coffee Shop opposite the Feilai Temple offers a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains, and the view is great.

We got the panoramic room on the 4th floor, and the view is really nice, but FYI, the bottom half of the view is the building across the street, which isn't that pretty. During the time we went, in late March, it was really cold - they did turn on the heating, which was nice, and the bed did have heaters, and they gave extra blankets - but the floor was really cold, which is understandable. Unfortunately, when we went, we were unable to see the Snow Mountain Meili as it was cloudy in the evening and snowing really hard in the morning. They have a rooftop deck from which you can look out and see the mountain, which is nice so you don't have to go down to the observation platform down the street to see the sunrise.

There are 20 rooms in hotel, all facing the Meili mountain. The big glass windows make all the guests enjoy the spectacular Mountain View easily.
There is a restaurant and a coffee house in hotel. There is buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner are also supplied during 12:00-21:30. Guests can enjoy coffee, wine, and deserts etc. in coffee house during 10:00-22:00.
Outside the coffee house, there is a big platform on which guests can enjoy the first glory sunshine on the golden mountain Meili.

The overall stay exceeded my expectations.
After booking online, the hotel immediately contacted me to confirm all necessary details, provide the exact location, and reserve a parking space.
It was raining when we arrived at the hotel, and a dedicated person guided me to parking, held an umbrella for me, and helped me with my luggage.
Check-in was incredibly smooth, taking less than a minute, and I was immediately escorted to my room.
After escorting me to the room, the attendant fluently explained the amenities, including the foot bath tub, the already activated humidifier, and the oxygen concentrator, which he activated right in front of me.
The room was spacious, well-designed, and had high ceilings, making it very comfortable.
The toiletries and skincare products were also exquisitely designed.
The restaurant is on the first floor, and the coffee shop on the top floor offers a view of the Meili Snow Mountain from large windows. Guests receive two free drinks under 48 yuan per night.
The hotel's design is meticulously crafted.
The overall stay made me feel right at home and exceeded my expectations.

I have been to Feilai Temple several times. I have to say that this hotel is the best hotel I have stayed in Feilai Temple. Whether it is the environment or the sanitary service, it is super good. There is also free breakfast. You can lie on the bed and watch the sunrise on Jinshan Mountain. If you have the opportunity to come next time, you must stay here again. I strongly recommend it and wish the boss a prosperous business.

We had a very wonderful stay at this hotel. As soon as we arrived, the owner and his family welcomed us warmly with fruits and snacks. They were very friendly and welcoming.
When we first arrived, we did not have a car to get around, and the owner was very helpful and took us to some places in Benzilan Village, including a temple. He also recommended a local restaurant for dinner, which was very delicious.
The hotel room was very spacious, clean, well-equipped, comfortable and tastefully decorated. In the morning, the owner prepared a hearty and delicious breakfast for us.
The next day we wanted to visit Dongzhulin Temple, and the owner very kindly offered to take us there. He also took the initiative to take us to another very interesting viewpoint from which you can see a big bend in the Yangtze River.
All in all, it was a very good stay. The hotel is of high quality, and the owner and his family are very hospitable. We also had a beer with him in the evening with a delicious plate of fruit.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with fruits and pastries. The owner and his family were incredibly kind and warm-hearted.
After we arrived, we didn’t have a car to get around, and the owner helped us out by showing us a few places in the village of Benzilan, including a temple. He also recommended a restaurant for dinner, which turned out to be excellent.
The rooms are extremely spacious, clean, well-equipped, very comfortable, and tastefully renovated. In the morning, the owner served us generous and delicious breakfasts.
On the second day, we wanted to visit the Dongzhulin Monastery, and the owner kindly offered to take us there. He even took the initiative to bring us to another interesting viewpoint, where we could see the bend in the Yangtze River.
In short, it was a fantastic stay. The hotel is of excellent quality, and the owner and his family are truly welcoming. In the evening, we also got to enjoy a beer with him along with a small plate of delicious fruits.
All in all, a wonderful experience. Many thanks to them. I highly recommend this top-quality hotel.

SShuijuexiaoziI rarely write reviews, but I can't wait to give a good review this time. This is the most worthwhile day of this trip. It is the most textured hotel in Yubeng, and the decoration is very impressive. The Marshall speakers and Dyson toiletries in the room are also very nice. The service is very good. Basically, everything you need can be provided, such as moisturizing masks, fascia guns, oxygen, etc. Afternoon tea and breakfast are very rich and delicious, which is rare in Yubeng, a place with scarce supplies.
There is a bar in the public area, with many types of whiskey and wine. I ordered a glass of Yamazaki and the atmosphere was really good when sitting in the lobby.
I also want to thank the hotel for upgrading our room type. The view is great. I can completely relax here after a day of hiking.

There are many home stays nearby that offers the same Mountain View. We paid a premium to stay here, not only for the Mountain View, but also for the supposed services and daily activities that the hotel advertised on social media.
Unfortunately the service level is almost non existent, the breakfast area is easily overpacked. The staffs even asked me to share a four people table with a couple during breakfast. I am not paying USD500 per night so I can share a dining table with strangers with no privacy.
We joined the sound healing experience which was held at 9pm (on the contrary to most other sound healing experiences I had, which is usually in the morning). The sound healing experience was held in the meditation room, which is located right above the Bar. Naturally, during the sound healing experience I heard mostly loud speakers playing APT and other loud music, with some light bowl singing sound.
The dinner was the worst I have had during my 9 days trip in Yunnan. The afternoon tea on level 5 (Bar area) was strangely arranged with all guests cramped next to each other and hunched over the low table where snacks are placed.
The hotel claims to have the top hotel room design and provides top end appliances in all the rooms, including HERMES toiletries, a B&O speaker, and Dyson hairdryer. The staffs introduced the room with great enthusiasm and pride on the small design details.
Although, after 2nights in the hotel, I left feeling the hotel is nothing but an empty shell with no soul.
I will not come back to this hotel again

GGuest UserMy room was as described. Functional and nice and warm (with heating on) with an excellent hot shower and nice wooden wall beams.
The people who run the place are lovely and also offer nice breakfast options in the morning.
The only small note I have is that (despite best efforts and a very modern ventilation system in the bathroom) the bathroom is already moldy. I understand that it's a challenge to get under control given the climate.
I would stay again next time, and actually spend more than just one night here. There is so much you can explore here!

GGlobetrotter & HikerWe highly recommend staying in Yolo Guesthouse if you are staying overnight at Upper Yubeng Village. The owner and staff of the guesthouse was very friendly, helpful and informative throughout our stay.
We connected through WeChat prior to arrival and liaised with the guesthouse for transport from Lower Yubeng to upper Yubeng. The transport was included in the reservation. On arrival in the afternoon, the staff introduced and escorted us to a nearby restaurant for lunch even though it was drizzling.
The guesthouse is strategically located to have views of the valley downstream and upstream. The building structure is sturdy and well designed compared to many other accommodations in the villages. The interior of the room and the rooftop coffee bar is beautifully designed and clean. They also have Dyson hairdryer and Smeg electric kettle. Coffee at the rooftop bar was decent but it was accompanied by amazing views of the valley. We were the only ones at the rooftop bar after check in and we also had their in-house hotpot at night which we enjoyed.
Prior to departing for our day hike (Glacier lake from Upper Yubeng Village) the next day, the guesthouse even provided hiking poles, crampons, bottled water, Red Bull canned drinks and a homely ham and egg sandwich. We were also allowed to leave our bags stored with them as we had to check out in the late afternoon after returning from the hike. After checkout, the guesthouse also helped to call a vehicle to transport us down to lower Yubeng village.
We wished we had stayed here longer throughout our trip to Yubeng. We felt very welcomed and had a memorable stay. Thank you so much!

BBellaThis was such a lovely hotel! The wooden carving was so beautiful and the rooms were lovely and cosy. We initially booked one of the rooms in the main lobby area and they were fantastic. The shower was hot and dependable and there was a nice view out the window. The price point is also great, as it definitely feels like one of Yubengs higher and hotels in a great location, but without a huge price tag. There are many cool restaurants surrounding the hotel, and in my opinion, lower Yubeng is the better village to stay at, especially if you are trekking in from ninong. For our final night we upgraded to the mountain view suite. Yes, you can see the mountain better but the room is actually worse than the downstairs rooms, as well as being more expensive. I think the downstairs rooms are far superior. The boss was also nice and helpful, as well as going out of her way to lend us hiking gear. Great hotel.

The hotel's housekeeper will contact us in advance on the day of check-in to inquire about the arrival time, and will pick us up at the bus station. In the morning, we will also be picked up to the observation deck to see the sunrise at Jinshan Mountain. The service during the stay is also very thoughtful. The boss will send a fruit plate when he sees that we like to eat fruit, and will send a message to remind us when it is breakfast time. The decoration style is also very beautiful!

GGuest UserYourland Hotel is run and operated by a very hard working lady who essentially does everything herself - from welcoming guests, cooking breakfast, cleaning the rooms and washing the bed sheets & laundry. The rooms are very clean and neatly organised, it has all the comforts that any hiker should need in such a remote location that is high up in the mountains (e.g. electric blankets, warm showers, etc.) Please do note that the warm water does need sometime to reheat especially if another guest takes a shower right away after the first guest. It will not be sufficient time for the water heating machine to heat the water. You should take note of the number that is displayed on the water heater. By default in our room, it showed the number of 44 and after the first guest took the shower, it went down to 19. If someone takes a shower right away at that moment, it will be cold so the next person should wait a bit until the number displayed moves up.
The views in the morning are amazing as you can see the mountain ranges on three different sides so you get a very good panoramic view from the terrace of the hotel. After a long day of hiking, our moods were lightened up when we were welcomed by the friendly and playful Labrador Retriever whose name is Dou Dou. Such a lovely dog ＜3. I would recommend you to stay here if you are looking for a place to stay in Upper Yubeng, it's good base for your planned hikes to the Glacier Lake and Nise Ranch. The place might be a bit difficult to locate if you arrive in Yubeng late at night (like we did since we walked all the way from Ninong, which was really tiring), but once you get the gist of it, it's very easy to remember and locate.

AArtur HurynJudging by the reviews, I expected worse conditions, but everything turned out to be in perfect order. There is hot water in the shower, comfortable beds, plenty of space (I was in a room for 12 people and did not feel it at all), there is a place to dry and try things, on the first floor there is a restaurant where you can order food, or just sit. There is also hot water and an electric kettle. There is an electric heating pad in the bed. There are also enough shelves to put things away.
The location is also excellent! It takes 30 minutes less to get to the lake than from Nizhny Yubeng (though it takes 30 minutes more to get to the waterfall). There are shops nearby, an excellent observation deck.
In the hostel itself, a guy named Ellie helped me a lot - he helped with food, with recommendations. Great guy!
As for hygiene and cleanliness, the toilets and rooms were cleaned every day, it's just that we are guests, we quickly made a mess (washing shoes, clothes, throwing garbage, etc.). There is liquid soap and shampoo (or something similar) in the toilet. Everything was always replenished.
