Hot Springs Hotels in Beppu

Celebrated 520 (May 20th) by booking a more upscale meal that day, and the experience was great ❤️. The location is fantastic! It's a 5-minute walk to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), so we went straight there after breakfast when it was less crowded. Regarding service, I have to say: it was the rainy season, and there were many staff members standing at the entrance, but they only bowed. It felt awkward watching adults and children run into the hotel in the rain to check in, and checking out involved carrying our own luggage in the rain too.

The rooms are clean and the hot spring water is excellent! Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and I loved that I could enjoy unlimited beer and drinks. The only downside is that the door is thin, so the soundproofing isn't great. Other than that, everything was perfect.

The hotel's location is a bit out of the way. The ocean view from the room was okay, I guess. You're required to take off your shoes when entering the hotel, but they don't even provide disposable slippers, so the service is pretty mediocre. The front desk staff also had a very unenthusiastic attitude during check-in. The hotel tries to project an image of being very clean and upscale, but honestly, the cleanliness of the guest rooms was just average; the toilet wasn't even wiped clean and had stains.

This stay was a pleasant surprise! It's my first time staying in a Japanese hotel with a small balcony that even has a clothes drying rack. The balcony gets plenty of sun, so all the clothes I washed at night were dry by morning 👍👍. The hotel breakfast was decent. The only issue was that the bed linen wasn't very clean; I found several hairs, and the sheets looked a bit wrinkled and pilled. This definitely needs improvement.

Gorgeous hotel on the bay in Beppu with stunning views of the sea and mountains. Hotel is modern and beautiful, influenced by traditional craftsmanship and architecture. Meals are delicious and draw on local delicacies. Service is so-so. Staff seem overwhelmed and distant. Lots of activities planned for guests, but noise doesn’t travel. Hot springs are relaxing, although there are only two baths inside and one, small one outside. Shop is not great. Would recommend the hotel consider selling some of the dish ware or toiletries in the bathroom or other crafts and or local products from Oita, etc.

The stay was decent overall, but there is definitely room for improvement. While the general experience was okay, the room cleanliness wasn't up to par—specifically, there was an unpleasant odor coming from the cups and the bathroom. Additionally, the door leading from the balcony to the hot spring room couldn't be securely locked, which was a bit concerning. With better housekeeping and maintenance, this would be a much better place to stay.

The hotel is very close to Beppu Station and has good facilities. The hot spring bath is in a separate building, but the environment is nice. You need to bring your room towels, and the hotel provides a basket for guests to carry them.

Every floor in the hotel has a self-service welcome tea machine, which is really refreshing after a hot spring bath. It's only a ten-minute walk from Beppu Station, so even with luggage, it's not a hassle. It's an old-style Japanese inn, and you can book a private hot spring bath for 700 yen (500 for usage, 200 for tax). It's a true hot spring, and a soak washes away all the fatigue. They offer free luggage storage, which is very convenient. There's also a large, affordable supermarket nearby.

The staff is friendly and speaks English well; the place is quiet and cozy, and the location is perfect. It’s almost a distance to Beppu tourist attractions, especially the Beppu tower and Beppu JR stations. The hostel is also located near the port area, where you can relax and take a break. The hostel also has a cafe, a spacious kitchen, and an artificial hot spring. Although some amenities are not included, you have to purchase them at the front desk, the accommodation cost is relatively cheap, so that’s okay. It's a good thing I have my own towels and other amenities. I will definitely be back here when I return.

Beppu Kaizan Accommodation Review If I were to summarize my experience staying at Beppu Kaizan, the most impressive thing was the private open-air bath in the room. When I soaked my body indoors and then went outside, I felt a sense of openness and was able to maximize the charm of the hot spring. Good points ✔ Private open-air bath structure – Hot spring naturally extending from the indoors to the outdoors, allowing for private healing ✔ Large pot provided – Convenient because you can boil water yourself ✔ Location – Approximately 2,350 yen by taxi from Beppu Station (Kaizan will call you a taxi directly) If you want to enjoy a private hot spring in a quiet environment, Beppu Kaizan is definitely a satisfactory choice.
