I cancelled another hotel and booked this hotel the night before I stayed. I stayed in Hampton by Hilton in Kunming before and was sure it wouldn’t disappoint. However, contrary to what I read from the reviews, the hotel wasn’t as near to the metro as I thought. There was only one decent shopping mall Gda within walking distance. When I first entered the hotel room, I was greeted by a weird smell. Initially I couldn’t make out whether it was my socks that smelled or it was the room as I was sweating due to the extreme temperature in Hangzhou. As I went in and out a few more times, I was sure it was the carpet that had the stinky smell but after a while, my nose sort of got accustomed to the smell and felt nothing. As it was my last night in Hangzhou and I wouldn’t be in the room all the time, I didn’t make a fuss. Another point to note is: cars were not allowed to park in front of the hotel and if you were to book didi, you have to go to the bank beside the hotel to be picked up. I booked didi a few times and the car would usually stop by the roadside near the bank and one would have to react very fast, especially when you have a lot of luggage.

Hangzhou is the first destination of our week-long travel to Shanghai, and we are extremely happy that we made the right decision to stay at City XiYouLi Hotel as it set the highest benchmark for all the other hotels we stayed around Jiangnan area. From before we arrived, the hotel receiptionist was kind enough to assist with accepting my packages from Taobao and safekeep till we checked-in. That was already a plus point and even during the day when we check-in, everything was hassle-free. On to the room itself, all of us would unanimously agree that this in fact the best hotel that we stayed in during our trip, from the comfort of the beds where we comfortably sleeps two adults and two kids, the toilet that has in-built bidet, and also the common area that has board games and water refilling station (hot and cold)! Worth mentioning also that the room were so well upkept that would belittle a 5-star rated hotel. Oh ya, there is also at least 6 washing machines and 6 dryes across two floors if laundry is needed. Footnote: We booked the Monkey King Twin Room and stayed for 2 nights.
