118 Hotel,Dato Keramat - Self Check IN

I hope I will remind myself not to choose this hotel again. I immediately cancelled the booking just a few seconds after confirming it, as I realised I had selected the wrong location — I wasn’t travelling to Penang. However, despite repeatedly explaining the situation and urging the hotel to reopen the cancellation, they insisted they needed to verify it first. After several hours, they informed me that the booking could not be cancelled and that the full amount would be charged to my credit card. I understand it was my mistake for selecting the wrong location, but I took immediate action to cancel the booking. Unfortunately, the delay caused by their verification process resulted in a charge that I believe could have been avoided. There was no support or flexibility offered, even after I explained that I was not in Penang. It seems their only concern was to charge me for the booking rather than assist with a genuine mistake. I will definitely not choose this hotel again in the future. No photo to be share, as I was not in Penang during my stay in the hotel.

Very good location for food and sightseeing.

Very near to transport hub (KOMTAR) which made it very convenient to go everywhere. The only downside is that the checkin desk is at their sister property about a five minute walk. Also did not notice any elevator. The above two points were not an issue for me but may be a concern for people with mobility issues. The property is well maintained and very clean. Checkin and checkout was very smooth. I enjoyed my stay of four nights and would use them again if need be.

I have experience staying in self-check in hotels before this, but this one was terrible. Despite having to make 3 rounds in jammed traffic just to find a car park, I also been told to get my room key at the other 118 hotel right once I arrived at the reception counter. Although the uncle who worked at the counter wanted to help me riding his bike, that 118 hotel staff refused and still asked me to get it for myself. Finally I got my room key after having a debate to allow that uncle to ride his bike to do his job.
