"Location and eatery are convenient. Room design is modern but toilet is inappropriate with the glass wall designed as a family room, except for some wear and tear and a cockroach to welcome us. Overall good stay experience and we even planned for next trip with Kyoto before we check out, until we met 10 Nov morning shift receptionist with attitude issue, and check out process is slow. Frontline service crew is important, what a ”good” start for my day while seeing the black face during check out."

"I recently stayed at this hotel for the first time. Overall, it offers good value for the price, even though breakfast is not included. The front desk staff were polite and friendly, making the check-in process smooth and hassle-free.
However, there are a few drawbacks to consider. The room did not have a fridge, but there was a water cooler outside and a shared public fridge for guests to use. My biggest concern was the soundproofing—staying in a ground-level room, I could hear conversations, footsteps, and door slams from the hallways and adjacent rooms, which made it difficult to rest peacefully.
If you're looking for an affordable stay and don’t mind some noise, this hotel could still be a decent option."

"If just want to sleep,it’s fine. Near to many eating places(cafes and restaurants) which is 1-2min walking distance. Have to bring own toiletries. Hand soap and towels provided though. Toilet door faulty, needs to exert force to open and close and loud noise when doing. No lift, have to climb up 3 floors but treat it as exercise. Overall, good if u want everybody to be in the same zone."

GGuest UserI had an excellent one-night stay at the JB Renaissance Hotel, and it was absolutely memorable. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The room was comfortable and well-maintained, and the breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options.
What stood out the most was the excellent service — every staff member I interacted with was courteous and attentive, making the stay even more enjoyable. This hotel is definitely family-friendly, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a pleasant and relaxing stay in Johor Bahru.

HHwee Aun SujaIt is located near Mid Valley mall. Probably a five min drive away. It was easy to locate as the signage to the homestay was easy to spot.
Apartment was clean and had filtered water.
The service staff was also prompt to providing the info needed. Queries were answered promptly and politely.
The apartment has
Bedroom 1 : 2 double beds (sleeps 4)
Bedroom 2 : 1 double bed (sleeps 2)
Living room : 2 thin mattresses, can be placed on the floor (sleeps 2)
The only inconveniences encountered were :
1) the access door to the lift lobby was not working that day and hence we had to walk around to other floors to try to access to the lift lobby.
2) We had to drive all the way to the 5th floor carpark when there are so many empty lots around and the car park lot assigned was far from the lobby.
3) the water temperature was inconsistent.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed the stay and would consider staying here again in future.

SshrhmznWe travel with a family of 6 (with 2 below 6 years old) & took the family room. The room was rather cram but it’s ok for just a 1 night stay.
We were greeted with a flight of stairs before reaching the reception. Check in process was smooth and fast.
I will list the Pros and Cons of the hotel below. Hope it helps!
Pros
- Good wifi signal
- Location: just beside bubble tea shop, along it are massage parlor (good ones!), hair salon and established bakeries. Easy to get to Mid Valley, KSL, Pelangi mall etc via grab. The location of the hotel is quite centralised.
- The staffs don’t look their part, but they seemed approachable.
- Water dispenser available
Cons
- No toilet paper
- Leaking bidet
- No water heater
- Experienced an hour of blackout (no aircon/lights) at midnight and hear commotion outside so it’s not “noise proof”
Come back? Maybe not.

The rooms are basic, minimal (as the name suggest) yet cozy, though the soundproofing could be improved, as some noise from the corridor was audible in certain rooms. While the hotel isn’t within walking distance to large malls, it’s quite conveniently located with a few coffee shops, convenience stores, and eateries just a 3-5 minute walk away. The hotel is also about a 30-minute taxi or Grab ride from City Square JB, making it accessible to major attractions. Overall, a solid option for those who value a good location and comfortable stay.

RroadtripperIt looks quite old and needs an upgrade. Wall stickers are peeling off. Scratches on the living room table.
The common room smells like cat pee, unless we on the aircon. Wardrobes were quite dusty. Couldnt open the windows in the room as it was directly facing the lift lobby.
We had an issue with cockroaches in the sink. We checked in quite late, ard 11pm. Couldn't deal with this as we were so tired. Texted them the next morning and they sent someone up immediately and rectified the issue. Really appreciate this gesture.
Mattress was quite hard and pillows were too soft. Woke up with stiff neck.
The unit is rather spacious.
Good location.
Check in was smooth.
A lot of hangers provided.
Maybe should repair or change the drying rack as one side of it was already broken.
One of the wooden shelves in the master bedroom is slightly slanted downwards. Couldn't place our items on it, as it will slid down and drop.

CCeeJayisMeCheck in was erratic at best, counter staff misread our booking and couldn’t even identify my passport nationality correctly and started raising his voice, only when i told him theres 2 persons in the booking did he realise his mistake. Corridor smelt strongly of cigarette smoke and walls were stained. Room looks like something from a 70s era movie. Aircon was noisy and the shower lacked a hose spray. Woke up to a cats mewing in the corridor! Yes, cats! Location is good and near to CIQ and JBCC but otherwise some other options could be better. This place needs a proper revamp.

PpirahnakohThe hotel was like normal budget hotels, standard layout etc. But the singing from the KTV in the night downstairs was noisy and they sing till after midnight.
Surrounding there were eateries and a 24hr Family Mart, that compensate for the noise.
