Instead of being built towards the sea, the very large majority of rooms have a ”view” on the side, that is a view on a wall (and builders on one side). Either they had a larger plot of land and consequently sold it to make profit, or they didn't take in consideration that one day it would be built. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and could see and hear builders shouting 3 meters away from our window. Additionally, sheet was stained. Luckily, staff is helpful but... they can only do what the management allows to do. We got an other room - 2 floors away from our second room, on the ground floor, still with a view on a wall, but at least on the other side. As it happened, in that room sheet was holed, probably because it had been used for too long. Bed itself is good - one of the very few decent things, together with most employees who do their best - reception is open 24/7. Shower is not too bad, but door does not close properly and there are fungus. On the ground floor, customers go through the corridor passing in front of all bedrooms to reach the elevator: the first night, we heard coming and going until 4 a.m. and we could even hear peeing or a tiny object falling on the floor above us. There is no noise-insulation at all. Swimming pool on the roof has a great view, but is maximum 1 meter deep and during the day, you bath under the eyes of the builders. As already said, staff do their best, but the hotel is so badly conceived - not even speaking of the permanent noise on weekdays, from 7 or 8 until 5 or 6 -that it is not sufficient. Regional breakfast on the first morning - a Saturday as is probably the case for most visitors - was very good, with decent options (not the largest buffet, but corresponding to the hotel size). On Sunday, it was not that good anymore as we started to receive cheese bread (paô de queijo) and other stuff like sweet bread which was (at least) 2 or 3 days old. To the contrary, you may order eggs or tapioca pancakes prepared on demand. Wi-fi is free, but network is overloaded and connection hardly reaches the 2nd floor. On the first night, I realized the bulb from the bedside lamp was burnt. I asked the reception, but they told me they had none at the reception, but would be fixed on the next morning. In the evening, it still did not work... until I realized there was a short-circuit... and could consequently only remove the plug and ”do without” night lamp - I had to read or watch television with the powerful, blank ceiling lamp (not very comfortable for my partner wishing to sleep earlier than me. Last but not least, Cabo Branco beach is quite extensive: this hotel is located (almost) at the very end, which means that you will walk about 2 km minimum to get to the beginning of the numerous restaurants available in Tambau and the closest/other end of Cabo Branco. O hotel é muito bom, muito bem localizado (ficando a poucos minutos da orla da praia de Tambaú, o que é bem tranquilo e seguro ir a pé em qualquer horário), quartos confortáveis e climatizados, café da manhã com diversas opções de alimentação e bebida, alem dos funcionários serem muito bem educados e receptivos.

This hotel opened relatively recently (a little more than 2 years ago). Price-wise, this is an upscale hotel for Joao Pessoa (the least expensive room is about R$750 or $150 USD—the most expensive room is R$3170 or $638 USD). The problem is that it just isn't worth it. Just to put it in perspective, you can find hotel rooms in this city for 1/3 of the price that have rooms of comparable size and quality. Let me say that almost all hotel staff are very friendly (but not all), but the level of service and attentiveness does not correlate with the level they purport to provide. The hotel has 185 rooms, so it's not a small place. I came here with my wife to celebrate a wedding anniversary (I won't tell you how many so as not to shock you). Upon entering the reception area, we were offered a glass of water in cheap disposable plastic cups; I suppose this is better than nothing at all, but not by much. Upon entering our room, we noted that the glass shower doors were not completely cleaned. I know it may be a pain in the ass for the chambermaid to get the soap scum off the glass, but for the price, I would expect at least that. In addition, the hotel has a sign in the lavatory that you cannot flush your toilet paper (!). Many hotels in the city have similar notices, but they do not charge as much as Oceana Atlantico Hotel charges. Since this hotel was recently built, you would think the hotel could have constructed a sanitary system that did not require you to keep your poopy paper in a trash can next to your toilet. The most annoying thing that happened was when we went to have our breakfast (which, like in most Brazilian hotels, was included). The buffet was decent, but not even close to the best we have experienced here in this city. You might even say it was modest. Certain breakfast items are prepared to order, and you must order with the waiter—I know this because I went to the open kitchen and the cook said I must ask the waiter (and there was only one waiter in the room). The waiter was busy chit-chatting with other staff as I tried to get his attention. Finally, my wife approached him to request the breakfast dish I wanted and it took forever to be prepared (which is OK if the kitchen was busy), but then I saw him walking around with the plate from table to table with my dish, when he finally remembered our table and then came and chucked the plate in front of me. Of course, the dish was not prepared the way I requested, so I did not even eat it. In summary, I cannot recommend this hotel and I do not think we will be returning, sad to say.

Everything was great, the room was good, the shower was good, the staff who worked there were very polite and attentive. Great location with lots of good things close to the hotel. Excellent breakfast with lots of options. The only thing I didn't like was the card that didn't open the room door and it was necessary to go to reception to exchange it all the time (it happened to me and I saw several other rooms with the same issue).

O Hotel Caiçara em João Pessoa tem uma recepção bonita , elegante, seus funcionários educados, em especial o Ramon. Na própria recepção tem sempre à disposição, um café/chá fresquinho. O café da manhã farto, sortido com comida traddicional de um café da manhã, além de comidinhas tipícas que agradam bastante. Um ponto negativo é a limpeza do quarto: o banheiro com limo dentro do box,as toalhas de banho pequenas e finas (talvez por desgaste pelo uso). o que deixei cair no chão (uma tampinha de alumínio que selava um potinho de creme), ficou no chão por 5 (CINCO) dias, ou seja, ninguém varreu o banheiro. No mais , tudo bem.

Primeira vez que tenho uma experiencia tao ruim em um hotel. Chegamos e já soubemos que não tinha ferro de passar roupa, subimos para o quarto lençol sujo de sangue e molhado. Fomos tomar banho água gelada, reclamamos principalmente da água, porque o mínimo que se pode oferecer é uma água quente. Avisaram que iam arrumar, olhamos outro quarto água gelada tbem. Entao o funcionário disse que em uma hora estaria ok a água, porém no outro dia de manhã nada ainda, água gelada novamente. A noite quando chegamos da praia água gelada novamente, falamos com a gerente pedimos uma solução e ela não conseguiu dar nenhuma solução e ainda disse que a água estava morna, chamamos outras pessoas para provar da água e todas concordaram que água estava gelada. Tivemos até que chamar policial para registrar b.o. E eles tbem afirmaram q a água estava fria. Queríamos o check out para irmos para outro lugar e a devolução do dinheiro das próximas diárias que não usaríamos, mas a gerente Patrícia disse que não tinha como devolver sendo que nosso pagamento foi feito no pix dois meses antes da estadia. Conclusão: 5 dias tomando banho na água gelada. E café da manhã que até pão de forma 7:30 não tinha mais.

I would like to start this review by stating that my wife and I loved Joao Pessoa - this hotel only does a diservice to the beautiful city in which it is located, by mistreating their guests and making them feel like they were ripped off, but the city and the beach itself are wonderful places to visit. We arrived to the resort, with reservations paid for online, only to be told at the front desk that we would have to pay 10% more because -they said- my wife made the reservation ”under the senior discount” and we are not senior citizens. My wife assured me that when she made the reservation using the English version of their online web site there was no such reference that the offered rate was for senior citizens. We didn't make a fuss out of this and simply paid (because we could) but right off the shoe, the magic was gone and the front desk people (none who can speak any decent English at all) were in my opinion shady and unprofessional, not a pleasant experience. That same day upon check-in we grabbed our dirty laundry, placed it in a bag, and proceeded to bring it downstairs to the main lobby to be washed, but the front desk person stated that they had no staff to take on these laundry orders (??!!!) and the order would not be ready until a day after we would have checked out. This is not 4-star service (not even 3-star service, mind you). We then decided to take a quick drive around the beautiful town of Joao Pessoa and, upon our return to the hotel later that day, we were met with a jammed-packed, chaotic parking lot scene where there was nowhere to park, even though we had specifically asked (before making our reservations) whether the hotel would guarantee a secure area to park our rental SUV. We had to wait some 10-15 minutes until another staff member came to the parking lot to move a vehicle so that we could park ours - again, not 4-star service, not even close. Back to our room on the top floor, we immediately noticed the air conditioning was not working properly - it was not cooling down to at least 24C and we knew this because we always bring a thermomether on every trip we do) and as much as we'd wanted to get the comfort temperature in the room that we paid for, at full fare, by then we were so disgusted with the staff and their very poor service that we decided to wing it - we were only planning a two-day stay at this resort anyway and we just didn't have any faith in the support that we would get from the hotel staff in the event we'd place a complaint about the faulty room AC unit. Again, not a 4-star experience. The next morning we went downstairs at barely after 9am and asked for two beach chairs and a beach umbrella only to be informed that they were out of beach umbrellas, which in itself makes it impossible to enjoy the beach under the scorching hot temperatures of 100F+ during carnival season. We went to the hotel next door and a very nice guy rented a very large umbrella and two beach chairs, $3 USD out of pocket. B

Apart from the main tourist points of João Pessoa, it is located in the city centre in a quite desert place during the night, making it very difficult for those who are not traveling by car. The hotel is well structured, but the lack of cleaning and hygiene in the rooms, corridors and other areas of the hotel has made a very bad experience of a simple night, without counting on the many mosquitoes in the dining room. For a less demanding guest with cleaning, you can even compensate the daily value. However, in my opinion, it is more worth paying a little more day in a hotel/houser near the beach and the main attractions of João Pessoa, with a more moved environment near lanchones, bars, restaurants, a pharmacy and clean in their dependences.
