Kusatsu Onsen Boun
"One of the more superior ryokans we stayed in. Awesome onsen, both indoors and outdoors, with excellent service from all staff. Upon entering the car park, staff will come with umbrellas to help with luggage and it was a very very light drizzle. We had dinner in the room and breakfast in the common area but still segregated for privacy. The food was delicious- we had wagyu and enjoyed it very much. When we left, the owner’s daughter was sending us off at the entrance. 100% would return for another stay if we venture to Kusatsu onsen again."
Shima Yamaguchikan
"After I accidentally booked the wrong check-in date, the hotel was willing to change it unconditionally and the service attitude was very good."
Kayamoto – A Timeless Retreat in Shima Onsen
"Amazing utilities and service, it’s great choice for this time of my Japan travel . I will revisit this hotel in future. We enjoy perfect Kaiseki Ryori at night and next morning on private room with fully English commentary."
Tokinoniwa
"Amazing ryokan to stay for a night in Kusatsu Onsen. Staff were all friendly and welcoming, and were helpful in explaining the ryokan’s facilities in English. Both breakfast and dinners are must-have experiences with this ryokan’s stay. The spread was delightful, and the produce used was fresh and delicious. The 3 private baths available were each unique and relaxing in the cold spring weather."
SANU 2nd Home Kitakaruizawa2nd
"This was the first time I booked a cottage-like place like this, but it was such a wonderful place to stay that it made me want to visit more places in the SANU series!"
Sekizenkan
"Still standing tall with a charm that will simply WOW anyone. It's serenity is a great place for a good relaxation and to be pampered with great food by the chef. We booked a room that had tatami and normal beds with a private onsen. It was truly an experience which one must try to fully immerse in it to feel it. Great getaway from the hustle and bustle or a romantic getaway."
Palcall Tsumagoi Resort Hotel
"I can't find anything good here. The food is terrible I even gave up my free meal for my own sanity sake"
Urakusatsu Tou
"This was my fifth stay at this hotel, and I absolutely love this place. Every visit feels special, and I always leave with wonderful memories. Hope to be able to come back soon."
Yamakikan
"Very atmospheric and cozy ryokan. Traditional style room and majestic mountains view are breathtaking. The food is fantastic, you dine privately in peace and also provided with unlimited amount of drinks for 90 minutes. There are private and common (men/women) baths available. Water temperature is comfortable and magically washes away your fatigue. Personnel is kind and helpful, they used translator to explain everything to me. I was provided with shuttle bus on check-in and check-out to nearby station (kawaryo onsen station). This place is perfect if you want to detox from city bustle and cleanse your thoughts. Nearby konbini is 1h away on foot (or 15 min on car) so I advise you to stock up your supplies in advance if you need any."

Kusatsu Onsen Hotel Village
"Location was good, big place with a lot of things.Rooms seems old but very clean and have a balcony with nice view. The free hot spring was quiet ,not much people.I was almost using all the time. Very good experience, definitely recommend."
Hotel Sakurai
"The service was good and the location was decent, but the breakfast and dinner buffets were just average, with a limited variety of food. I stayed on the 4th floor and basically had no view from my room, and the public bath was also quite small."
Hotel Spax Kusatsu
"“I really liked this place. The hotel is conveniently located close to major attractions, and the service is excellent. I especially enjoyed the onsen, including the outdoor baths, which alternate between male and female use on different days.”"
Shima Tamura
"Although it is a traditional hotel, the overall hotel facilities are still old. The hot spring water quality is OK, but the sanitary environment is old and probably has not been renovated. The hotel needs to go up a big slope, and it is not very convenient to carry luggage. It is better to stay at the 40,000 grand hotel at the bottom of the slope. It is more cost-effective to buy a pass to come to this hotel."
Kusatsu Now Resort Hotel
"Perfect, must stay if coming to kusatsu."
KusatsuOnsen AeruyadoTakamatsu
"A little bit far from the center Has additional paid for onsen"
Gensen Ichinoyu
"Very nice place to stay in, tho it might be a bit hard to communicate as a foreigner"
Kusatsu Onsen Yubatake Sensui
"Best place we have stayed in Gunma. Walking distance to tourist attractions and shuttle around Kusatsu going to the bus station. Restaurants, souvenir shops, and a 7-eleven around Kusatsu. Some restaurants might close early around 8PM. We love the experience of going around Kusatsu with the Yukata and slippers, just be mindful to have extra clothing underneath because it was cold during our stay and the Yukata might still be not enough. Vegetarian breakfast and welcome drinks available and included. They also have a restaurant wherein you can dip your feet while eating, if you like to experience. You also have a private hot tub. Room is spacious and feels elegant. Staffs are helpful and smiles always. Would definitely recommend for future stays."
Naraya
"Charming ryokan with excellent service! After renting a car near Karuizawa station, we arrived at Kusatsu onsen town to find the narrow roads packed with holidaymakers. It was quite harrowing finding our way to the ryokan after circling around. On arrival the front office people were very helpful and led me to a free parking area some distance away. Our experience was very much as described by past reviewers...a traditional ryokan right in heart of the hot spring attraction centre. The room was very spacious. Dinner and breakfast were good enough but no wow factor. What was most delightful for our stay was the very friendly and attentive Nepalese front-end staff named Khadka, who made it easy for us with his good English. He was almost always there to attend to our every need and we enjoyed our conversation with him when he served us at the bar. I would highly recommend having drinks at the bar with its cosy ambience and enjoying the front seats facing the window where we can see people walking by as well as a view of the pagoda. Our stay there was memorable!"
Konoha
"We absolutely loved the breakfast and dinner provided with a wide selection of free flow alcohol. The food, although a buffet, was freshly prepared in small batches by the chef, ensuring warm and quality food. Would be great if they could provide more kids friendly amenities and top up the yukata more regularly as it seems like there’s always a shortage of yukata and kids jacket. The staff were all very friendly and helpful!"
Manza Juraku All-Inclusive Hotel
"I travel to Manza Onsen every summer, but I came back last year to Juraku because I was so satisfied overall. It was unfortunate that it rained the entire time I stayed, but thanks to the various services they offer, I was able to relax. Currently, the eruption alert level for Mt. Shirane has increased, and the area can only be reached by toll road, but I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet summer resort."
Kusatsu Onsen Hotel Ichii
"Excellent onsen, location and food, there’s a big superstore at G/F and a 7-11 nearby. Just have to walk from the main building to the annex building for meal and onsen, a bit inconvenience for elderly people with leg pain problems. And the water distillers at the onsen floor are out of order, a coffee machine at the lounge is also not work, while my stay at the hotel."
Villa Kitakaruizawa L Wing
"We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit out of town since we travelled by car so it wasn't hard for us to get around. We can see Asama mountain from our room. The public bath I used in the morning and no one was there so I had all the big bathtub and enjoyed the view from Asama mountain all myself. It was such a nice experience. ❤️"
Tsumagoi Prince Hotel
"The hotel is v nice! The room is clean and spacious! The view of the hot spring is v good too. "本白根溫泉" is nice!"
Kusatsu Onsen-Kanemidori Ryokan
"Apart from the food, everything else was excellent, the privacy was very high, and the hot spring environment was first-class."
Kamenoi Hotel Kusatsu Yubatake
"The facilities were also quite good. The hotel offered everything I needed, and the common areas. Buff3t breakfast and dinner had a decent variety and tasted fresh."
Kamenoi Hotel Kusatsu Resort(Old:Kusatsu-Onsen Hotel Resort)
"highly recommend this hotel to everyone, the staff is friendly and helpful. the dinner and breakfast is good too. Onsen is great also. i am really enjoy the stay."
Daitokan
"Overall OK but the parking lot is far away from hotel (around 7 mins drive) and you need take their shuttle bus to car park with 20 mins-30 mins per bus. Think clearly to book this hotel if you get there by driving car"
Kusatsu Onsen-Kusatsu Hotel 1913
"New hotel with good Onsen which is hot enough with strong acidity. It relies the body’s tiredness n muscle painfulness."
