The location is excellent with close proximity to a lot of the tourist places and city bus stations. There is free coffee, a microwave and a laundry machine in the basement. The rooms are clean and the staff is very nice.

Very friendly and attentive staff, should have used their service to avoid unnecessary mistakes and potential tramps, everyone should know how frustrating Japanese transport system can be! Reasonable close to subway station, literally right next to Nijo Castle!

This hotel is very good location, near Omiya station (Hankyu line), Exit#5 has elevator 🛗 from platform to ground floor). If take Kyoto City bus, take bus number 206, 207 to Omiya matsubara station and walk just 150meters. This hotel is very clean, has all amenities, and facilities in the room (refrigerator and hair dryer). This hotel also have coin laundry machine and ice maker machine at 1st floor. I'm very happy with this hotel and its reasonable price, so I extend to stay here total 5 days.

The hotel is a 5-10 minutes walk away from Nijo station and a 20 minutes walk away from Nijo Castle. My room was small but clean and the staff was friendly. There is a kitchen in the lobby if you want to prepare your own food but there are plenty of restaurants at the station and the streets nearby.
In my personal experience of two meals in one hotel, the dinner was the richest. Although it was crab-themed, each person had a whole crab, other fish, and a lot of pot dishes. In the end, we couldn't finish it all, so the enthusiastic shopkeeper helped us take out the crab meat that we couldn't eat and shape it into 8 rice balls to serve as snacks for the next day.
The hot springs are very good and the pool area is large. Both men's and women's hot springs have indoor and outdoor parts. It happens to be snowing in January, and there is nothing more wonderful in the world than soaking in the hot springs while enjoying the cold wind of Wakasa Bay.
Most of the tourists are locals, so it's a very authentic experience. Thank you to the store

This place was so great.
In a small space, there are two bunk beds that can accommodate a family of four very comfortably!! There is also a large sofa bed and table.
All the elements were perfect for our family.
The location was also good, so we could enjoy Kyoto's major tourist attractions on foot.
There is no parking lot, but there are many paid parking lots around. If you look around a little, you can find a relatively cheap parking lot.
Considering the price of the hotel, the parking fee is not bad.
From Sunday to Tuesday, 2 nights and 3 days - 4,600 yen. (We kept the car parked because there was no change of mind.)
I was surprised that there was a Korean staff member at check-in, and the check-in process was also easy.
There is even a sofa bed, so I highly recommend it for a family trip of 4-5 people.

The house is consistent with the pictures on the website, very quiet and comfortable. Although it is decorated and run by Chinese people, it still has a strong Japanese-style lifestyle. My travel plan is to travel slowly in Japan, staying in one place for a few days, half a day to play and half a day to rest, and going to the big supermarket to buy food by myself. It is both a tour and an in-depth experience of local life. This kind of house is very suitable. The current operator is Chinese, so it is easy to contact and communicate, especially for those who are traveling independently in Japan for the first time. If you don’t understand something, you can always communicate with the owner. The house is very close to the Shichijo subway. When I went there, I got off at Kyoto Station and walked a long way. On the way back, I got on the Shichijo subway and transferred to Osaka. It was very convenient.

We have stayed in the Gion area before, so we wanted to try a different area. This is very near the Kyoto station, just take bus 9 or 50. From the stop, the guest house is a few steps away. Agree with the other review, this room is big for 3 vs. Japanese standard. They provide the basic amenities, and having a common kitchen is a plus. There are grocery stores at the bus stop.
On our first night, we were asked to stay in a different room, and we had to transfer to the one that we booked the next day. Bringing down and leaving our luggage at the reception was a bit of an invonvenience, but overall, we had a pleasant stay, and we'd recommend this place to friends.

It is a cost-effective hotel in Kyoto during the peak season. It has complete indoor facilities, large space, and the front desk staff is enthusiastic and multilingual. I was very satisfied after staying for a few days. Although there is a certain walking distance from the subway station/convenience store, there is a bus stop right outside the door. The location is convenient for a city like Kyoto where buses go directly to tourist attractions, and it is close to the Kawaramachi business district. The only drawback is that the glass is not very soundproof (probably a common problem in Japanese accommodation). If you live on the second floor, there will be a lot of noise when people drive by at night. Overall, highly recommended!

The best part: The room type given by Ctrip is the largest, with 44 square meters, which is the largest hotel we stayed in during our trip to Japan.
Other than that, everything is not good.
1️⃣ The check-in time is ridiculous. Check-in at 16:00 and check-out at 10:00. What is the difference with the hourly room... It's my fault that I didn't pay attention to the time before. If I knew it was like this, I wouldn't stay in this hotel.
2️⃣ No cleaning. Only free cleaning is available if you stay for 4 nights or more.
And the hygiene is super bad! On the first day of our stay, there was a piece of paper in the toilet.
In the morning, a sign of [Change towels/collect garbage] was hung, but the garbage was not collected when I came back in the evening.
3️⃣ There is only one washing machine downstairs, and it is impossible to get a line. The washing machine near the hotel costs 3 times as much as the hotel for the same time.

Great
GGuest UserNice house with average services
Front desk staff may arrive late so there are chances that you need to wait under the sun as all doors closed and you can only contact them by email during that time (not very responsive)
Thin wall so may hear people talking in midnight
Good experience overall despite the above
Beds and tatami are very comfortable and smell good
Taxi costs ard 1,000yen from kyoto station to the house

GGuest UserThe location was very convenient as it is located just one block from the main street and the train station. However the journey to get the key for the room was a puzzle, they sent the instructions in English but the touch screen was totally in Japanese with no eng option. It wasn't easy to correlate the symbols there with the instructions provided, especially as the key room didn't have air conditioner and the hot air became very soffocating (we suggest to put instructions in English on the side to make this experience bearable)
The room was fine, but it wasn't clean at all and the ceiling had mould on the corners due to poor ventilation. Since day one we found spiders inside the room, probably due to lack of cleanliness. Our daughters and I were bitten by several mosquitoes as well. The toilet space was very miniscule, yet it served its mission. There were not enough spoons and forks for our family even when we specified the amount of people staying in the room. Not to mention the beds were not very comfortable. On the last day, I was very surprised they sent an email requesting to leave before 10 am, mentioning they had a tight cleaning scheduled, we thought it was odd that the departure time was 10 am yet they wanted us to go before that. We had to leave early anyway but we still thought it was odd. But I think the rules just have to be followed and let people leave on the previous time agreed. It was a hotel that served its mission overall and with an excellent location yet the cleanliness and room overall has a lot to make it better for the comfort of its clients... But at this moment I would not recommend this hotel
GGuest UserVery comfortable beds & futon and enough room in the bedrooms, only negative was the luminous fire exit sign which was so bright when trying to sleep in the night and lots of dust under the beds. Location was lovely and convenient. It’s opposite Ippodo Tea shop which helps to locate the property on this quiet street. The norme hanging in front of the door says “Tsumugi” so we initially weren’t sure we were at the right place. I should’ve checked my emails to confirm we’d arrive directly at the property rather than pick up the key code from the desk at Kyoto station (for some reason I thought the reception was at the property! my mistake!) so we had to wait for someone to cycle over from the station, difficult waiting in the summer heat but also appreciated him peddling there in a hurry! There were only 3 sets of bowls and chopsticks and could have done with a toaster and tea towel for drying dishes as there is no draining rack but otherwise the kitchen was fine for a short stay. It would also be good to have some way of hanging laundry other than the few hangers which I could hook on to the door frames. Despite these little things I would probably stay here again as it was nice and quiet, comfortable, clean, convenient and nice design aesthetics.

GGuest UserWe booked a double room, which is close to the subway station, which is very convenient~
The boss is Chinese, and he added WeChat before we checked in. He was very considerate and polite to ask about the check-in time and confirm the itinerary. Because we arrived at night, we gave the door code. He also recommended some fun places in Kyoto~
Room: One bedroom, and one tatami room for dining (you can spread out the box). It's really very convenient~ and very clean.
Details:
The room has a flashlight, conversion plug, hair dryer, etc., which is very good~
The bed is relatively comfortable, and the tatami is also very comfortable to sit on~
Front desk: There is a microwave, and mineral water/coffee/tea are all free to take~
The boss is very considerate, and it is really a big praise!
The stay was so comfortable that I didn't take any photos hahaha~
I'll just post two pictures of the beautiful scenery of the Xia Ya River when I went out
EEsther PimentelIt is a little far from the center, but we had a nice stay, the owner is a kind person, and he even borrowed the umbrellas in the rainy days.
NNanjiazhoubuxiayuThe hotel was booked on the way from Osaka. I didn't expect the environment to be much better than expected. The staff was very friendly (and could speak Chinese!) and gave me a map of the surrounding restaurants and a tourist map of Arashiyama. And the luggage can be stored for free for 24 hours after check-out, which was really touching😭
It takes three minutes to get to the subway station, and it is also very close to Togetsukyo Bridge. It takes about five minutes to walk to the scenic area. There is also a Yusai Pavilion similar to Rurikoin. It will be more beautiful when the maple leaves are in season.
There are free coffee machines and microwaves in the public space of the hotel. You can sit and read comic books and TV. In addition, Halloween decorations have also appeared. There will be piano music in the public space. It is very comfortable to sit and drink tea and coffee.
Although I only stayed in three hotels during this trip to Kansai, this hotel is the most satisfactory one. I feel very warm when traveling alone. If I come to Arashiyama again, I will choose Mulan Hotel!
AAnonymous UserI was a bit skeptical at first seeing that this property only had one other review, but it turned out to be amazing! It was a true two bedroom appartment furnished with everything you would usually expect from a “AirBnB type rental”. We really enjoyed the stay, especially at this affordable price. We stayed on the second floor unit. Here are some pros and cons.
Pros:
- Very clean
- Big bedrooms
- Strong AC in all the rooms
- Fully functional kitchen and washroom
- The instruction binder was very well done and helpful
Cons:
- A bit loud since it is beside a passing street. If you are a light sleeper you may want to bring some earplugs.
- Wifi was a bit unreliable, but since we had data ourselves, we didn’t bother reaching out to the owners.
- No laundry machine.
All in all, for the price it is a clear five star. We would recommend.

Great
GGuest UserVery nice place with very thoughful owner.
There are some unusual things like closing the place from 12 to 17 and extra charges for luggage keeping, but it's ok for travelers, not for remote workers.
Owner keeps everything perfectly clean. He cooks amazing sandwiches for breakfast. They are enough for people who don't like to eat much for breakfast.
The place located in a living area with same small private houses nearby. No noise after 9pm. It's a renovated Japanese house. Great choise for those who want to live in Japanese house.
