We have stayed in the Gion area before, so we wanted to try a different area. This is very near the Kyoto station, just take bus 9 or 50. From the stop, the guest house is a few steps away. Agree with the other review, this room is big for 3 vs. Japanese standard. They provide the basic amenities, and having a common kitchen is a plus. There are grocery stores at the bus stop. On our first night, we were asked to stay in a different room, and we had to transfer to the one that we booked the next day. Bringing down and leaving our luggage at the reception was a bit of an invonvenience, but overall, we had a pleasant stay, and we'd recommend this place to friends.

The room was spotless, and the bathroom featured excellent wet/dry separation. On the downside, the window couldn't be opened and faced a construction site, plus the curtains were quite sheer. Location-wise, it's very convenient, just an 8-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station, with several yakitori and ramen spots right outside. The only minor inconvenience is that the hotel entrance is a bit small and easy to miss. They do offer complimentary umbrellas at the door, which is a nice touch. Google Maps rates this hotel as three stars.

The location of this hot spring hotel is very good, right at the entrance of Amanohashidate Park, and there are also some cafes, restaurants and supermarkets around. The hotel service is good. You need to take off your shoes when entering the hotel, and the hotel waiters will help guests take their shoes in and out. The only drawback is that the taste of breakfast and dinner is really average.

Not bad for the price. For a hotel in Japan, there is someone who speaks English well. The room is small and narrow, but it is okay for the price. The distance is good because Kyoto Station is just 10 minutes away.

Walking distance to Kyoto station & has a lot of family marts/ 7 Elevens near by, the hotel staff were also very nice and attentive. The bathrooms were a bit small but other than that a very nice stay! A lot of bus stops near by too. Bus 9 & 28 stop right by the hotel

A very satisfying stay at this B&B. The room was very clean. Although it was not big, it had all the necessary facilities. There were two beds and a sofa bed. There was a staff at the front desk on the first floor, so it was very convenient for us to check in.

A very good B&B, which completely changed my impression of B&Bs. It is not far from Kyoto Station. It is not too close, about 10 minutes walk. The first time I went there, I was advised to take the main road, which is the main road opposite Kyoto Station. Don't go into the alley, you will get dizzy. Take the main road!! There is a convenience store at the intersection, which is 1 minute away. This convenience store has some daily necessities, meat, and vegetables. You can also replenish your supplies here if you make breakfast in the B&B. The room is very large, and there is a kitchen. The bathroom and bath are separated. There is a large wardrobe for boxes and hangers. Hygiene: Very clean. I have stayed in 5 hotels + B&Bs in Japan, and this is the cleanest. Facilities: There are washing machines, refrigerators, pots and pans, and balconies for drying clothes. In Kyoto for 5 nights, I can wash clothes freely. The laundry detergent, disinfectant wipes, and dishwashing liquid prepared by the boss are all high-quality. Service: The boss is very considerate. Add WeChat one day in advance to inform the check-in method and password. There are 3 of us and we can't book a 3-bed room. In order to make us more comfortable, the boss also gave us an extra mattress, which is very good! Due to language barriers, we can't communicate too much, but it's highly recommended

Take the No. 50 bus from Kyoto Station and get off at Shangqixuan Station. Cross the road and follow the small road of the 7-11 convenience store. Then turn left for a total of three minutes. Because it is an overseas homestay, no breakfast is available. But the boss will prepare bread, butter, jam, etc. for free in the refrigerator, as well as free coffee, various teas, and Japanese snacks. There are three rooms in the hotel, and there are 3-4 people in larger rooms. The hotel owner is very welcoming, with very good sanitation and facilities to evaluate the five stars.

JJoeyNice neighbourhood, with familymart just steps away from the house. Great house with hotspring. Enjoyed the evening with families. Had a good breakfast provided by the hotel. If we have enough time, would like to explore the neighbourhood in the daytime next time. Great stay.

GGuest UserThe location was very convenient as it is located just one block from the main street and the train station. However the journey to get the key for the room was a puzzle, they sent the instructions in English but the touch screen was totally in Japanese with no eng option. It wasn't easy to correlate the symbols there with the instructions provided, especially as the key room didn't have air conditioner and the hot air became very soffocating (we suggest to put instructions in English on the side to make this experience bearable) The room was fine, but it wasn't clean at all and the ceiling had mould on the corners due to poor ventilation. Since day one we found spiders inside the room, probably due to lack of cleanliness. Our daughters and I were bitten by several mosquitoes as well. The toilet space was very miniscule, yet it served its mission. There were not enough spoons and forks for our family even when we specified the amount of people staying in the room. Not to mention the beds were not very comfortable. On the last day, I was very surprised they sent an email requesting to leave before 10 am, mentioning they had a tight cleaning scheduled, we thought it was odd that the departure time was 10 am yet they wanted us to go before that. We had to leave early anyway but we still thought it was odd. But I think the rules just have to be followed and let people leave on the previous time agreed. It was a hotel that served its mission overall and with an excellent location yet the cleanliness and room overall has a lot to make it better for the comfort of its clients... But at this moment I would not recommend this hotel

GGuest UserThe hotel is a 5-10 minutes walk away from Nijo station and a 20 minutes walk away from Nijo Castle. My room was small but clean and the staff was friendly. There is a kitchen in the lobby if you want to prepare your own food but there are plenty of restaurants at the station and the streets nearby.

GGuest UserWe booked a double room, which is close to the subway station, which is very convenient~ The boss is Chinese, and he added WeChat before we checked in. He was very considerate and polite to ask about the check-in time and confirm the itinerary. Because we arrived at night, we gave the door code. He also recommended some fun places in Kyoto~ Room: One bedroom, and one tatami room for dining (you can spread out the box). It's really very convenient~ and very clean. Details: The room has a flashlight, conversion plug, hair dryer, etc., which is very good~ The bed is relatively comfortable, and the tatami is also very comfortable to sit on~ Front desk: There is a microwave, and mineral water/coffee/tea are all free to take~ The boss is very considerate, and it is really a big praise! The stay was so comfortable that I didn't take any photos hahaha~ I'll just post two pictures of the beautiful scenery of the Xia Ya River when I went out

NNanjiazhoubuxiayuThe hotel was booked on the way from Osaka. I didn't expect the environment to be much better than expected. The staff was very friendly (and could speak Chinese!) and gave me a map of the surrounding restaurants and a tourist map of Arashiyama. And the luggage can be stored for free for 24 hours after check-out, which was really touching😭 It takes three minutes to get to the subway station, and it is also very close to Togetsukyo Bridge. It takes about five minutes to walk to the scenic area. There is also a Yusai Pavilion similar to Rurikoin. It will be more beautiful when the maple leaves are in season. There are free coffee machines and microwaves in the public space of the hotel. You can sit and read comic books and TV. In addition, Halloween decorations have also appeared. There will be piano music in the public space. It is very comfortable to sit and drink tea and coffee. Although I only stayed in three hotels during this trip to Kansai, this hotel is the most satisfactory one. I feel very warm when traveling alone. If I come to Arashiyama again, I will choose Mulan Hotel!

GGuest UserTHIS PLACE IS THE BEST!! The man, Tommy, who runs it is so sweet, helpful, accommodating. I will miss his sandwiches in the morning- if he offers to make one for you, say Yes. They were sooo good. It was a great stay, I arrived after getting caught in a downpour and felt so bad about getting water everywhere but Tommy was so helpful and gave me a spare pair of shoes to wear since mine were soaked through. He gave restaurant recommendations, and I really appreciated his hospitality. The room was comfortable, it’s a quiet place, lights out was around 21:00 I think. It’s a good location, close to a station. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The only thing to be aware of is you cannot drop your luggage off early before the check-in time, and you have to be out of the hostel during the day from like 12-5 or something like that.

MMoggi77The room is very large and has tatami, which is very cost-effective. It is only a five-minute walk from Dongshan Station. The bathroom and toilet are separated, which is very private. The bathroom is also very clean! You can also take a bubble bath when you are tired at night.
