Seoul Station Guide: KTX, AREX, Subway, GTX-A and Travel Tips

Author's Profile Picture
**Seoul Station**

Seoul Station is one of the main transport hubs in Seoul, connecting high-speed KTX trains, local rail services, Seoul Subway, AREX airport trains and GTX-A. Whether you are heading to Busan, travelling to Incheon Airport or exploring central Seoul, knowing the station layout can make transfers much easier.

❤️Pro Tip: When planning your visit, consider booking flights from Manila to Seoul and Seoul hotels in advance to secure the best rates.

Understanding the Seoul Station Map

Seoul Station Layout Map

Seoul Station is more than one train hall. Different train services use different parts and levels of the station, so check the signs carefully before heading to your platform.

KTX and Korail Area

The main Seoul Station building is where you can board KTX and other Korail trains.

Popular KTX routes from Seoul Station connect Seoul with major destinations including:

  • Busan
  • Daejeon
  • Daegu
  • Gyeongju
  • Pohang
  • Other cities served by Korail routes

Seoul Station is one of Korea's main railway hubs and the starting point of the Gyeongbu Line towards Busan.

🚆 Pro Tip: Reserve popular Korea train tickets early if you are travelling on weekends, Korean public holidays or during major festivals.

Seoul Subway Line 1

Line 1 connects Seoul Station with areas such as City Hall, Jongno, Dongdaemun and other parts of the Seoul metropolitan area.

Follow the dark blue Line 1 signs when transferring from the railway station.

Seoul Subway Line 4

Line 4 is useful for reaching popular areas including Myeongdong and Dongdaemun.

It is one of the easiest subway options if your hotel is around Myeongdong or central Seoul.

Gyeongui-Jungang Line

The Gyeongui-Jungang Line also serves Seoul Station, although its platforms are separate from some of the main subway areas.

Check the train destination carefully because not every Gyeongui-Jungang Line service follows the same operating pattern.

AREX Airport Railroad

AREX provides a direct rail connection between Seoul Station and Incheon International Airport.

There are two main types of AREX service:

AREX Service

Best For

Express Train

Faster airport transfer with no intermediate stops between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport

All-Stop Train

Cheaper travel and access to intermediate stations such as Hongik University and Gimpo Airport

The AREX Express takes about 43 minutes between Incheon Airport Terminal 1 and Seoul Station and around 51 minutes from Terminal 2.

✈️ Airport Tip: Leave extra time when transferring between AREX and KTX because the airport railway platforms are below the main station area.

GTX-A

GTX-A is now another rail option at Seoul Station. The northern section connects Seoul Station with the northwestern Seoul metropolitan area, including the direction of Unjeong Jungang.

The Unjeong Jungang to Seoul Station section opened in December 2024. Later GTX-A sections are being developed separately, so always check the latest operating route before travelling.

❤️ Pro Tip: If you are planning a Seoul trip, check flights to Seoul early, especially during weekends, holidays and popular travel seasons.

Seoul Station Exit Guide

Seoul Station Exit Guide

Seoul Station has several exit systems because the KTX, subway and AREX areas are connected but managed separately.

These are some of the most useful exits for travelers:

Exit

Useful For

Exit 1

Main Seoul Station building, KTX, Lotte Mart and Lotte Outlet

Exit 2

Culture Station Seoul 284

Exits 5–6

Seoullo 7017

Exits 7–8

Namdaemun Market direction

Exit 9 / 9-1 area

Seoul Square and bus connections

Exit 15 area

AREX side of Seoul Station

Exit numbers can belong to different parts of the station complex, so follow the current station signs rather than relying only on an exit number.

How to Get to Seoul Station

From Incheon International Airport

The easiest rail option is AREX.

AREX Express Train

Take the non-stop AREX Express Train directly to Seoul Station.

  • Terminal 1 to Seoul Station: about 43 minutes
  • Terminal 2 to Seoul Station: about 51 minutes
  • No transfer required

The Express Train is useful if Seoul Station is your final destination or if you are connecting to a KTX train.

AREX All-Stop Train

The All-Stop Train also travels to Seoul Station but stops at intermediate stations.

It can be more convenient if you are coming from:

  • Gimpo International Airport
  • Hongik University
  • Digital Media City
  • Gongdeok

From Myeongdong

Take Seoul Subway Line 4 directly to Seoul Station.

This is one of the easiest connections for travelers staying around Myeongdong.

From Hongik University

Take the AREX All-Stop Train directly from Hongik University Station to Seoul Station.

From Other Korean Cities

KTX and other Korail services connect Seoul Station with many cities across South Korea.

Popular connections include Busan, Daejeon, Daegu and several other major destinations.

🏨 Pro Tip: Check Seoul hotels near Seoul Station if you want easy access to KTX, AREX and the subway during your trip.

How to Transfer at Seoul Station

Subway to KTX

After getting off Line 1 or Line 4, follow signs marked:

KTX / Korail / Seoul Station

Allow at least 10 to 15 minutes if you are unfamiliar with the station. Give yourself more time if you need to collect tickets or have large luggage.

KTX to AREX

Follow signs marked:

Airport Railroad / AREX / 공항철도

The AREX platforms are on lower levels of the station complex, so allow extra walking time.

AREX to Subway

After leaving the AREX area, follow the signs for:

  • Line 1
  • Line 4

Do not follow only the Seoul Station name because several rail services use the same station complex.

GTX-A Transfers

Follow the GTX-A signs inside the station. Because GTX-A uses its own station area, leave additional transfer time when connecting from KTX, AREX or the subway.

🚆 Transfer Tip: If you have a reserved KTX train, arriving at Seoul Station around 20 to 30 minutes before departure gives you more time to find your platform, buy food and manage your luggage.

Seoul Station City Airport Terminal

Seoul Station City Airport Terminal

One of Seoul Station's most useful services for international travelers is the City Airport Terminal.

Eligible AREX Express Train passengers travelling from Incheon International Airport may be able to complete selected airport procedures before taking the train to the airport, including:

  • Airline check-in
  • Checked baggage drop
  • Departure immigration procedures

AREX completed renovation work on the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal in 2026 to improve the check-in and waiting areas.

Only participating airlines and eligible flights can use the service. Airline participation, check-in deadlines and baggage conditions can change, so check the latest AREX information before your flight.

✈️ Airport Tip: Do not assume your airline is eligible for city check-in. Confirm your flight and airline before arriving at Seoul Station.

How to Buy Tickets at Seoul Station

KTX Tickets

KTX requires a separate train ticket.

You can:

  • Reserve online before travelling
  • Buy from a station ticket counter
  • Use station ticket machines
  • Book through Trip.com Korea trains

Booking early is recommended for popular departure times.

Seoul Subway

For normal subway trips, you can use:

  • Tmoney card
  • Compatible transportation cards
  • Single-journey tickets

Using a rechargeable transportation card is usually easier if you plan to take several subway or bus trips.

AREX

The AREX Express Train uses its own ticket system, while normal transportation cards can be used for the All-Stop Train.

Check the latest fare before travelling because ticket prices and promotions can change.

This stay was absolutely perfect! The hotel's decor is upscale, and the common areas are meticulously maintained. The guest rooms are spacious, and the furnishings feel high-quality. The mattress and pillows are incredibly comfortable; I slept soundly until morning. Housekeeping provided thorough cleaning daily, and the amenities were fully stocked. The butler service was prompt and responsive, and the breakfast offered a rich variety of delicious options. The location is convenient for getting around. It's suitable for both business trips and vacations. I've saved it to my favorites and will definitely be back!

This hotel is perfectly located! It's just south of Seoul City Hall Square and west of Myeongdong. The subway station is only a few dozen meters from the lobby entrance, and Sejong-daero is right to the west. It's also not far from the major palaces and Namsan, so the location couldn't be better. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. While the facilities might feel a bit more compact compared to newly built five-star hotels in China, they are well-maintained and perfectly adequate. Overall, it offers great value for money.

I've been to Seoul several times, and this trip I finally got to experience the Westin Josun. The airport bus goes directly to the hotel, and the service was impeccable from the moment I got off the bus until check-out. All the staff spoke excellent English and were proactive in helping with luggage, giving directions, and even making change. The location is also fantastic; I could walk to duty-free shops, Myeongdong, and other places. The nearby BBQ restaurants were also delicious. My only minor complaint is that you have to stand in the bathtub to shower.

Traveling with my little one during the summer, Japan was out, Thailand was a no-go, so Korea became our top choice. After a lot of searching, this hotel looked great and was close to the duty-free shop. Based on reviews, I chose the new building. Check-in was on the 15th floor, and the front desk staff even reminded me that I didn't need to pay a deposit for the fridge items if I took them out. They also upgraded us to a suite, which was absolutely amazing! The room was quiet and spacious; I almost wanted to stay there all day. Downstairs, there's a big supermarket with all sorts of delicious food, very similar to what you'd find in Japan, which was super convenient in this hot weather. Just a short walk through the underpass, and you're in Myeongdong, perfect for shopping, sightseeing, and food. There's also an airport shuttle (6701) at the very end of the old building. The only downside is that it's difficult to get a taxi in Korea right now; we had a car to go out, but had to take the subway back as ride-hailing apps like Didi and Gaode didn't work. On the bright side, the complimentary data package was more than enough.

I stayed here for a 2-day, 1-night trip to Seoul ☺️ It was my first time staying at Novotel Ambassador Suites, and I was really satisfied! It's directly connected to Yongsan Station and IPark Mall, making it super convenient to get around. I stayed in a Junior Suite, and the room condition was excellent, with a fantastic view from the room! The city view of the Han River and Seoul's downtown was truly impressive. With a swimming pool and sauna, it's an excellent place for a 'ho-cance' (hotel vacation) 👍

Seoul|2.32km from Seoul Station
Overall, I had a good stay, although I would recommend keeping expectations reasonable for a Novotel. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and bright with plenty of natural light. The bed had a good level of firmness, and both the pillows and duvet were very comfortable. However, I encountered two issues during my stay. First, there was a problem with the motion-sensor light near the entrance of the room. It was supposed to turn on when someone entered or walked by, but the sensor in my room seemed to malfunction. The light kept turning on by itself even when no one was moving nearby, and this happened dozens of times throughout the night. As someone sensitive to light while sleeping, this was quite disruptive. I contacted the front desk the next morning, and they quickly sent a technician who removed the sensor/light system. I really appreciated how efficiently the staff handled the issue, although unfortunately it had already affected my sleep for the entire night. Second, the bathroom floor and the area connecting the bathroom to the room were quite slippery when wet. Extra caution may be needed, especially for elderly guests or families with young children. Before check-in, I received an email informing me that the hotel swimming pool was under maintenance and that guests would need to use the pool at the neighboring Grand Mercure instead. However, during my actual stay, the swimming pool at the 4F Fitness Club was still available for use. The information was therefore somewhat inconsistent, although it did not negatively affect my stay. I also paid to use the sauna facilities. The area was clean and well maintained. The facilities consisted of one cold bath, one hot bath, and a dry sauna. There was no wet sauna or steam room, and I personally found the dry sauna temperature to be relatively mild. If the sauna is an important part of your stay, you may want to consider whether the facilities meet your expectations before paying the additional fee. Overall, the room itself was comfortable and spacious, and I was impressed by how quickly the staff responded when I reported the sensor issue. There were a few minor issues with the facilities and communication, but the stay was generally pleasant. A good hotel overall, just don't set your expectations too high.

I recently stayed at Grand Mercure Ambassador Hotel and Residences Seoul Yongsan and had a wonderful experience overall. The hotel offers spacious, well-appointed rooms, excellent facilities, and a convenient location connected to Yongsan Station, making it an ideal choice for visitors to Seoul. What truly made my stay memorable was the outstanding service provided by Amy from the Front Desk. As we were preparing to leave, we needed a vacuum cleaner to remove air from our airtight packing bags. Although this was an unusual request, Amy went above and beyond to assist us. She made an exceptional effort to locate a vacuum cleaner, checking with various departments until she was able to find one for us. Her dedication, resourcefulness, and willingness to help exceeded our expectations and reflected the hotel's strong commitment to guest satisfaction. The rest of the staff were also professional, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the hotel's facilities were well maintained. The only downside during our stay was the pillows, which we found to be a little too soft and flat for our preference. Some guests may enjoy them, but we would have appreciated firmer pillow options for better sleeping comfort. Overall, this was an excellent stay, made even more memorable by Amy's exceptional customer service. I highly recommend Grand Mercure Ambassador Hotel and Residences Seoul Yongsan and would be happy to stay here again on my next visit to Seoul.

Facilities: The hotel is well-equipped. Although it's located halfway up a hill, there's a shuttle bus for tourists to Myeongdong and Hannam-dong, and it's also very convenient to call an Uber or a taxi right outside. If you don't go out, you can easily spend half a day at the hotel's swimming pool and gym during the day, and the lobby bar in the evening has a great ambiance with live music. Ambiance: The hotel has a very old-money feel. The window views are beautiful, and the colors of the mountain forest change with the seasons, which I imagine would also change one's experience of the hotel. The rooms are very beautiful; I highly recommend a mountain-view room. Service: The service is exceptionally attentive, breaking away from traditional Korean service. There are staff members at every point, especially in the gym and dining areas, who guide you, so you won't feel lost or confused when you go by yourself.

This was a hotel I'd always wanted to stay at, and it didn't disappoint; it was a very fulfilling stay. Although access from the station is poor, Uber (or Kakao Taxi) solved the problem. The view of Seoul Tower nearby was beautiful. I ordered truffle French fries through in-room dining, but unfortunately, they had almost no truffle flavor. Breakfast offered a choice of three sets, and there was a juice bar and egg station, and one type of noodle dish was also available. It was elegant to be able to drink sparkling wine in the morning. There was a wide variety of food, and I was completely full. The staff were very helpful, and I would like to visit this hotel again if I have the opportunity.

My girlfriend and I chose Hotel Naru Seoul - MGallery Collection to end our trip to South Korea, and we couldn't have made a better choice. It's truly one of those hotels worth experiencing and enjoying, especially during the last days of a vacation when you just want to relax. The hotel boasts a splendid location, directly overlooking the Han River and the picturesque Mapo Bridge. Our room, situated on one of the higher floors, offered simply spectacular views; every time we looked out the window, we were mesmerized. It's probably one of the best views of the Han River you can get in Seoul. The room itself was elegant, spacious, and equipped with every comfort. The bathroom particularly impressed us, featuring a very large shower and a beautiful bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak. The hotel has two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor pool is truly the crown jewel of the property; swimming with views of the Han River is a unique experience. The gym is also well-equipped and quite large, with treadmills and exercise bikes facing expansive panoramic windows. We also had lunch at the hotel restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the dishes and the service. The location is also very convenient for exploring the city: with just one subway stop, you can reach Yeouido Hangang Park, one of the best places in Seoul for a stroll and to admire the sunset over the river. An elegant, modern, and relaxing hotel, perfect for treating yourself to a special stay. If we were to return to Seoul, it would definitely be one of our top choices.

This was by far the best service I experienced in Korea. The front desk staff were generally very welcoming, especially the cleaning lady who was incredibly meticulous and thorough. She not only cleaned the room perfectly but also tidied up my scattered belongings and even left some Korean milk candies as a treat! 👍🏻 The hotel's location is quite good, with a food street right behind it, making it easy to find meals. ## Location: Perfect Score Right across from Lotte Duty-Free and less than a 5-minute walk to Shinsegae Duty-Free, making it incredibly convenient for shopping. Its location is comparable to the Aloft nearby but significantly better than Voco (which requires a bit of a detour). If you're here for serious shopping, this location will definitely save you time and effort. ## Room & Facilities The room size is similar to Aloft's – both are on the 'compact' side. It's a bit smaller than Voco, so if you have a lot of luggage, you might want to reconsider. The hotel is located within a mixed-use building, so you'll need to go to the 9th-floor lobby for check-in. Waiting for elevators during peak hours can be a bit of a pain. There are free luggage lockers on the 9th floor lobby, which are very convenient to use. ## Service & Details The service was adequate, neither exceptionally good nor bad. However, there's a noticeable drawback: my Trip.com reservation explicitly requested a 'high floor,' but I was given the 11th floor (guest rooms are on floors 10-18). This compromised both the view and the quietness. I recommend calling ahead to confirm or actively requesting a higher floor upon arrival. The central air conditioning noise from the adjacent building runs 24/7, which somewhat affected my sleep. ## Alternatives Next door is Ibis. If you're not sensitive to floor level or room size, you could compare prices for the same location and pick whichever is cheaper. ## Summary: If you're looking for ultimate convenience and don't mind a smaller room or the occasional elevator wait, this place is worth considering. However, if a great view, spacious rooms, or a high-floor experience are important to you, I suggest lowering your expectations or looking elsewhere.

There's not much in the way of service in Korea, so that's pretty normal. They can store luggage for you, and at least they don't give you a dirty look, which is a plus. However, this hotel doesn't clean rooms daily. I paid over 1000 and still didn't expect that; they only clean once every four days! The windows in this hotel are designed in a way that lets in a lot of light, so if you're sensitive to light while sleeping, bring an eye mask! Definitely avoid the lower floors, or be sure to bring earplugs! Ctrip's customer service was excellent and kept trying to resolve issues, but there's no negotiating with hotels abroad. So, for places like this, it's better to book through a major platform, otherwise, it can be a really frustrating experience! I found short hairs on the bed in another room, and they actually asked me how I could prove the hair was theirs. All of us have long hair... so, Koreans have a strange way of thinking. If you're a clean freak, you might want to bring your own bedding.

What's more, you need to swipe your card not only for the elevator but also for the hallway, and then again to enter your room, which made me feel much safer. The hotel is right outside Exit 10 of Sookmyung Women's University Station, not Seoul Station. I was a bit surprised to be given a 3rd-floor room when I requested a higher floor, but the Namsan Tower view was absolutely stunning. What's unique here is the bathtub in the middle of the room, which I found quite interesting. I didn't actually use the tub, but it would have been perfect for bathing while enjoying the view. However, there were no curtains for the bathroom door or windows, which was a bit inconvenient. Also, the slippers weren't disposable, which felt a bit unsanitary. From there, you can access Lotte Department Store through several entrances, or keep walking to exit 18 which leads directly to Myeongdong Shopping Street – perfect for avoiding the sun during the day. I highly recommend this hotel; the breakfast is excellent with a self-service ramen machine, and there were many Western guests. They provide disposable slippers and two bottles of mineral water. The room is cleaned, but they don't fold the duvet. Check-in was easy; even with a bit of gesturing and guessing, there were staff who spoke Chinese, though you might not always encounter them. I didn't experience any unfriendliness. This hotel is far superior to the Ibis I stayed at later near Myeongdong. If you're going to Seoul, this hotel is highly recommended for its convenience to attractions and shopping, plus direct airport bus service for your return. Lotte, Shinsegae, and Myeongdong Shopping Street are all within a 10-minute walk.

I stumbled upon this hotel by chance and had a really great experience. The room was spacious and clean, and even though it's near Myeongdong, it's not right on the main street so it was very quiet. The most unexpected surprise was finding an underground passage just a few hundred meters away that leads directly to the Myeongdong shopping area and Lotte Duty Free. This was a lifesaver for shopping on rainy days, avoiding getting wet. Everything else was excellent, except for the nearest subway exit not having an escalator, which was a bit inconvenient with luggage. I'd definitely choose this hotel again next time! 👍

Extremely clean and tidy, plus they even provide complimentary snacks! The front desk staff were very considerate, and check-in was a breeze. Highly recommend! Don't worry if you don't speak Korean, just make sure to double-check your navigation. Use Naver Map; definitely avoid Gaode Map, Kakao Map, and your phone's built-in map!

This is the ideal hotel to stay-in in Seoul because it is literally located right at the heart of Myeong-dong everywhere happening. There is a large 7-11 conveniently located just 10 metres away, the start of a night market just another 20 metres away. Cross over to the other side and there's all the luxury shopping (Lotte Deparment Stall) which in my opinion is better than Gangnam. another direction and you will hit Myeongdong shopping main street. Go underneath and there will be a huge underground shopping mall that leads all the way to City Hall main station. Rooms are very spacious, the gym was excellent and last but not least, the staffs were all very friendly and kind to allow us to check-in early due to available vacant rooms. My family and I will definitely be back here when we comes back to Seoul again.

It's about a 10-minute walk from Seoul Station Exit 15. The soundproofing wasn't very good, and both the sheets and towels had some stains. It's acceptable if you're just looking for a place to sleep. They were quite generous with the complimentary amenities.

I chose this hotel again, and it felt like rooms were a bit tight during the summer. This time I booked a king-size room; the bed was quite large, but the room itself was a bit small. In hindsight, the first room I stayed in was the most spacious, even though it didn't have a view. Aside from the slightly smaller room, everything else was great. The view outside the window was nice too. I'm not sure if it's because I stay here often, but this time they even gave me complimentary chocolates, which was a lovely surprise. I was very satisfied with the softness of the bed; it was super comfortable to sleep on. The air conditioning in the room was also incredibly powerful; sleeping under the duvet was so refreshing. The room temperature was perfect, to the point where I always had the illusion that it wasn't hot outside, even though Seoul has been scorching recently. The room cleaning was also very timely and done very well. Overall, I still feel it's a great place, and given its excellent location, I'm thinking I'll probably choose to stay here again next time.

First off, I need to vent and complain! When I booked, there were options like 'basement room' and 'superior room.' To ensure my child was comfortable, I specifically booked a 'superior room with a window'! To my shock, the 'superior room' was on the basement level, had no window, and was in the farthest corner. I desperately wanted to pay more to switch, but they only had one other room left, and it was even worse. I had no choice but to make do. But the nightmare continued: all night long, there was the constant sound of an elevator, which scared my child to sleep, and I didn't get a wink of sleep myself! The main issue is that the hotel's advertisement *didn't mention it was in the basement* and specifically highlighted 'with a window.' This false advertising completely misled us. When my child and I booked on Trip.com, we requested a room with a good view, quiet, and not in the farthest corner! This room was in the basement, windowless, had elevator noise, and was in the very last corner—I was terrified! If there wasn't a suitable room, the hotel could have informed me in advance, but I received no notification or communication. The hotel's ad looked great, but it was truly dreadful! I wanted to mention some other good points, but I spent a lot of money only to end up in a basement room! I'm so upset! Oh, and even though the bathroom was large, the shower drain was clogged. The water went above my ankles when I showered, and it still hadn't dried completely by the next morning. It really shows you can't just trust the ads!

Very good hotel overall; the location is ideal. Staff are very nice. The room is spacious, therefore it would be nice to have a window not facing the other building (as someone might see you sleeping)… A bigger window with a real view would be better. Also breakfast is ok : do not expect fruits, hot chocolate… as there are none.

The location was fantastic, making it incredibly convenient to get around. It was also close to a popular bakery that always has a queue early in the morning. Even though I wasn't particularly interested, I figured 'when in Rome...' and it made for an easy breakfast. I wasn't sure about the reception staff's hours (other reviews mentioned they're often absent), but everything being self-service actually made things easier. They're quite quick to respond if you send a message through the app. I was a bit concerned about the luggage storage before check-in and after check-out, as it seemed to be in an accessible area. However, there was a small table with a large net, similar to what you'd find in standard hotels. I placed my luggage under the table, covered it with the net, and then used a tablecloth to hide it, which made me feel a bit more at ease (though I'm not sure how effective it actually was).

I have been upgraded for triple bed room. However, the room is quite smaller than the picture they posted. Moreover, the receptionist desk is at 10 floor, before you can get to elevator, you have to carry your heavy luggage to 2nd floor to get to elevator which is not convenience for the travelers with a lot of and heavy suitcase.

Excellent location. Breakfast is included, along with amenities such as towels and slippers. Overall cleanliness is good, though the bathrooms are somewhat dated and in need of renovation. The female dormitory is essentially a single large room packed with beds; while there are spacious lockers for belongings, there is very little space in the aisles.

Environment: The room environment was pretty good, but it got very cold at night. The window was drafty, and since the bed was right under it, it was quite chilly. Facilities: It wasn't very soundproof, which might have something to do with my room's location. Cleanliness: It was quite clean. There was a slight odor, but the bedding was acceptable. For the price, I'm satisfied with a room like this. Environment: The location is excellent. Taxis and navigation are very accurate. Overall, it's pretty good, and there's even a small courtyard and common areas for guests to relax, which I think is great. The convenient location makes it easy to get anywhere.🫰🏿🫰🏿🫰🏿🫰🏿

My first impression was that it was very clean, but a bit small! The bathroom had everything you needed. The location couldn't be better! It's just 100 meters in a straight line to the Shinsegae Duty-Free Shop and 450 meters to Lotte Duty-Free Shop! This place is a godsend for international shoppers, saving a lot of travel hassle. We booked late and didn't get a room with a window, which was a bit of a shame! If you care about your living environment, try to get a windowed room, though they are a bit more expensive. The downside is that the soundproofing isn't great, which isn't ideal for light sleepers. The upside: the breakfast is also very rich! Different kinds of porridge every day! Staple foods include bread, eggs, and cabbage and corn salad! You wash your own dishes. Disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste are provided! Just bring your own toothbrush cup and slippers!

I stayed here on April 9th and 11th for the BTS concert. I only managed to get tickets a week before the show, so by then, booking a hotel was really last-minute. All the decent hotels were completely booked, so I had no choice but to stay at a hostel. It was my first time in a hostel. It had its pros and cons, which I'll share for others' reference. Pros: 1. The location is excellent. Whether it's the airport bus or the concert shuttle bus, they both stop directly at Myeongdong Station right in front of the hostel. Arriving late in Myeongdong, it's only a two-minute walk straight to the hostel, and you don't even have to cross the street, which is a huge plus. 2. The front desk staff can speak Chinese, and the owner is also very nice and helpful when you encounter problems. 3. There are free lockers on the ground floor to store luggage, which you can reserve. This means you don't have to drag your bags upstairs to pack. Every day, after shopping, I'd organize my purchases downstairs and put them in my suitcase before heading back up to my second-floor room. Cons: 1. Because I booked so late, I was in an eight-person dorm. With so many people in one room and no windows for ventilation, the room had a stuffy, enclosed smell every day, which was really unpleasant. 2. You might encounter inconsiderate people. Someone was on the phone in the hallway late at night, from 10:50 PM to 11:20 PM. Everyone in the rooms could hear her. Even with earplugs in, I could still hear her laughing and talking. It was incredibly annoying, and at several points, I wanted to shout at her to shut up.

You really can't beat this location—being within walking distance of both City Hall and Euljiro 1-ga stations made getting around Seoul effortless. I was also really impressed by how attentive the management is; they clearly act on guest feedback to make continuous improvements, like keeping the common areas completely trash-free. The showers had strong water pressure and hot water ready instantly, which was so refreshing. A great choice for travelers!

Great location! It's super close to Exit 3 of Myeongdong Station (Subway Line 4), and Myeongdong itself is right across the street, making shopping incredibly convenient. Behind the hotel is Cartoon Street, and if you head up, you'll reach Namsan Tower. Downstairs, there are two supermarkets, 7-Eleven and GS25. Just a heads-up, the hotel doesn't provide disposable toiletries, so you'll need to bring your own. Rooms are cleaned daily, which is a plus. You also don't need a power adapter; your domestic plugs will work directly. I had a very comfortable stay and would definitely choose this place again next time!

Seoul Station Travel Tips

  • Check your train operator. KTX, subway, AREX and GTX-A use different platforms and ticket systems.
  • Arrive early for KTX. Give yourself extra time to find the correct platform.
  • Save your train number. KTX departure boards show the train number, destination, time and platform.
  • Use a Tmoney card. It is convenient for Seoul subway and bus trips.
  • Follow the colored signs. They are usually easier to follow than trying to remember platform numbers.
  • Allow more time with luggage. Some transfers involve long corridors, elevators and several station levels.
  • Check your exit before leaving. Choosing the wrong exit can add unnecessary walking.
  • Book popular KTX trains early. Weekend and holiday services can sell out.
  • Check AREX before your flight. Airport train schedules and City Airport Terminal eligibility can change.
  • Use the information counter if needed. Seoul Station is large, so ask station staff if you cannot find your platform.
