Guangzhou Transport Guide: Best Ways to Get Around the City

Author's Profile Picture
Guangzhou Transport

Guangzhou has a large transport system connecting Baiyun Airport, railway stations, shopping areas, the Canton Fair Complex, and popular attractions. For most Filipino travelers, the easiest way to explore Guangzhou is by metro, with DiDi or taxis for late-night trips, heavy luggage, and destinations far from a station.

❤️ Pro Tip: Book your Manila to Guangzhou flights and Guangzhou hotels early, especially during the Canton Fair and Chinese public holidays. Staying near a metro station makes sightseeing much easier.

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to the City

Guangzhou Airport to the City

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is around 28 kilometers from central Guangzhou. Your best transport option depends on whether your flight arrives at Terminal 2 or Terminal 3.

Important Airport Update for 2026

Terminal 1 temporarily closed for renovation on May 7, 2026. Airport South Metro Station is also temporarily closed, with trains currently passing through without stopping. Flights previously using Terminal 1 have moved to Terminal 3. Check the latest terminal information on your ticket before traveling. See the official airport update.

From Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is connected directly to Airport North Station on Metro Line 3. The journey to central Guangzhou usually takes around 40 to 60 minutes, depending on your destination and transfers.

This is the cheapest option for travelers staying around Tianhe, Zhujiang New Town, Yuexiu, or other central districts.

From Terminal 3

Terminal 3 does not currently have a direct Guangzhou Metro station. Travelers can use:

Metro and airport shuttle: Take the shuttle between Terminal 3 and Gaozeng Station, where you can connect to Metro Lines 3 and 9. The shuttle journey takes about 15 minutes.

Guangdong Intercity Railway: Baiyun Airport East Station is connected to Terminal 3. Trains connect the airport with areas such as Pazhou and Panyu, where passengers can transfer to other transport.

Taxi or DiDi: A ride to central Guangzhou usually costs around CNY 120 to 200, approximately ₱1,090 to ₱1,820. Traffic, tolls, and your hotel location can affect the final fare.

🎉 Pro Tip: Read our Guangzhou Airport to the City guide to compare metro, airport shuttle, intercity train, taxi, DiDi, and private transfer options, including estimated fares and travel times.

Guangzhou Metro Rush Hours

The metro can become very crowded on weekdays from around:

  • 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM
  • 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Line 3 and central interchange stations are usually among the busiest. Avoid these periods when carrying large luggage or traveling with children.

🎉 Pro Tip: Check our Guangzhou Metro Map before your trip to plan routes, transfers, station exits, and the nearest stops to popular attractions. You can also use Alipay or a Yang Cheng Tong card to pay for metro rides around Guangzhou.
🏨 Pro Tip: Don’t forget to look for Guangzhou hotels near major attractions to make your sightseeing more convenient!

Yang Cheng Tong Transport Card

Yang Cheng Tong Transport Card

Yang Cheng Tong is Guangzhou’s rechargeable transport card. It works on the metro, public buses, trams, and many water bus routes.

You can buy selected card types from metro service counters, Yang Cheng Tong service centers, and some convenience stores. A deposit card generally requires a CNY 20 deposit, plus the amount you want to add.

For a three to five-day visit, adding around CNY 50 to 100 is usually enough if you mainly use the metro and public buses.

Yang Cheng Tong is useful if you:

  • Do not want to set up mobile payment
  • Have limited mobile data
  • Plan to use buses and water buses
  • Are staying in Guangzhou for several days

Guangzhou Public Buses

Guangzhou Public Buses

Public buses are cheap and reach areas that are not directly beside a metro station. Most regular city bus rides start from around CNY 2.

You can pay with a Yang Cheng Tong card, a supported transport QR code, or exact RMB cash. Drivers normally do not provide change.

Bus routes can be difficult for first-time visitors because some information is mainly in Chinese. Use Amap or Baidu Maps to check the bus number, boarding stop, direction, and number of stops.

Tips for Taking Guangzhou Buses

  • Prepare exact cash when paying without a card.
  • Save your destination name and address in Chinese.
  • Follow your location using a map app.
  • Press the stop button before your destination when required.
  • Avoid public buses when carrying large luggage.
  • Allow extra time because road traffic can be heavy.

Guangzhou Sightseeing Buses

Guangzhou Sightseeing Buses

Guangzhou sightseeing buses connect several popular tourist areas, including Canton Tower, Beijing Road, Chen Clan Academy, Shamian Island, and Zhujiang New Town.

They cost more than regular public buses but can be convenient for families and first-time visitors. Routes, stops, and operating times may change, so confirm the latest schedule before buying a ticket.

Guangzhou Taxis

Guangzhou Airport to city: By taxi

Licensed taxis are available at airports, railway stations, hotels, shopping malls, and official taxi stands.

The starting fare is around CNY 12 for the first 3 kilometers, approximately ₱109. Additional distance is generally charged at around CNY 2.60 per kilometer. Night surcharges, traffic, waiting time, and road tolls may apply.

Guangzhou Taxi Tips

  • Use the official taxi queue.
  • Check that the meter is running.
  • Show your destination in Chinese.
  • Keep a screenshot of your hotel address.
  • Ask for a receipt.
  • Carry small RMB notes as backup.
🎉 Pro Tip: Read our China Taxi guide to learn about taxi fares, payment methods, ride-hailing apps, and simple tips for getting around Guangzhou and other Chinese cities safely.

DiDi and Ride-Hailing Apps

DiDi in China

DiDi is China’s main ride-hailing app and is the closest alternative to Grab. The English version supports foreign mobile numbers and international credit cards. You can also book rides through Alipay.

DiDi displays the pickup point, estimated fare, car type, driver information, and destination before the journey. This makes communication easier when the driver does not speak English.

DiDi is recommended for:

  • Late-night trips
  • Families with children
  • Travelers carrying luggage
  • Destinations far from a metro station
  • Airport and railway station transfers
🎉 Pro Tip: Read our DiDi App guide to learn how to book rides in Guangzhou, compare car options, link an international card, pay cashless, and find the correct pickup point.

Guangzhou Water Bus

Guangzhou Water Bus

Guangzhou’s public water buses cross different parts of the Pearl River. They are mainly used by locals, but tourists can also enjoy an inexpensive river ride.

Fares usually range from CNY 1 to 5, depending on the route and seating area. One useful route is the short crossing between Huangsha and Fangcun.

Operating times vary by route. Check the latest schedule before going to the pier because some services only run during selected hours.

Pearl River Night Cruise

Pearl River Night Cruise (Dashatou Wharf)

A Pearl River night cruise is a sightseeing activity rather than regular public transport. Cruises usually last around 60 to 90 minutes and provide views of Canton Tower, Haixinsha, Liede Bridge, and the city’s illuminated riverfront.

Boats depart from different piers, including Tianzi Wharf. Ticket prices depend on the departure pier, boat, seat type, and included services.

Haizhu Tram

Haizhu Tram

The Haizhu Tram is a scenic transport option along the Pearl River. It connects Canton Tower with Wanshengwei and passes areas near Party Pier, Pazhou, and the Canton Fair Complex.

A regular ride costs around CNY 2. The full route generally takes around 25 to 40 minutes. It is slower than the metro but offers better river views.

The tram is best for travelers who want a relaxed sightseeing experience.

Shared Bikes

Shared Bikes

Shared bikes from Hello Bike and Meituan are commonly found near metro stations, parks, malls, and residential neighborhoods.

Scan the QR code using the correct app, unlock the bike, and end the ride after parking in an approved area. Registration and identity verification may be less convenient for short-term foreign visitors.

Avoid cycling during heavy rain, extreme heat, or busy traffic. Helmets may not be provided.

🥳 Pro Tip: Getting a China eSIM can help you stay connected while traveling in China.

Walking Around Guangzhou

Sha Mian

Shamian Island

Walking is a good option in areas where several attractions are close together.

Recommended areas for walking include:

  • Beijing Road and Dafo Temple
  • Shamian Island
  • Yongqingfang
  • Zhujiang New Town
  • Canton Tower and the Pearl River promenade
  • Yuexiu Park
  • Dongshankou

Guangzhou is often hot and humid. Wear comfortable shoes, bring drinking water, and carry a small umbrella during the rainy season.

High-Speed Trains from Guangzhou

High-Speed Trains from Guangzhou

Guangzhou is a major railway hub with high-speed trains to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shanghai, Beijing, and other Chinese cities.

Guangzhou South is the main high-speed railway station. It is outside the central tourist districts, so allow extra time for the metro journey, security check, and finding your boarding gate.

Other trains may depart from Guangzhou East, Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou Baiyun, or Panyu. Always check the exact station shown on your ticket because these stations are far apart.

Foreign travelers can book train tickets using a passport. Enter your name exactly as shown on the passport and bring the original document on your travel date.

Staying at the Guangzhou Jianguo Hotel, the location is excellent, making transportation very convenient. There are many dining options around the hotel, so finding food is a breeze. The hotel is an older star-rated property, so the room facilities are a bit dated, the indoor lighting is dim, and the mattress is quite soft. The bathroom is equipped with a smart toilet, which was a nice touch, but showering requires stepping into the bathtub, which isn't very convenient for getting in and out. On the plus side, the water pressure is good, and hot water supply is stable. The closet hangers are vertically oriented, making it a bit awkward to retrieve clothes. Both the Chinese and Western restaurants in the hotel offer good quality food with nice flavors. Considering the overall price, it offers excellent value for money among hotels of the same star rating. If you don't mind a slightly older feel to the facilities and prioritize location for your travels, this hotel is a good choice.

The hotel's location is excellent, making it super convenient to get around. The room itself has a kitchen, a fridge, and even a washing machine. Plus, the gym is open 24/7, which is perfect for anyone who's disciplined about their workouts! The front desk staff were really quick with check-in, and when I asked about the surrounding area, they patiently answered all my questions. The overall service was meticulous and thoughtful. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Guangzhou!

We booked this hotel specifically for the 40th-floor kids' club, but it turned out to be a bit of a letdown. We came to Guangzhou with our child, and after seeing many reviews praising the Westin's indoor kids' club on the 40th floor, we decided to stay here. Unfortunately, the kids' club was quite disappointing – there was a strong, pungent smell inside. I'm not sure if it's been recently renovated, but even as an adult, I felt a bit dizzy after a few minutes, let alone letting my child play in there. On top of that, it only opens at 12 PM daily, and there wasn't a single staff member in sight, which honestly made me a bit uneasy. However, putting the kids' club aside, the rest of the hotel was excellent. Our stay on the executive floor was very satisfying, with attentive service. The breakfast selection was rich and varied, with plenty of options for both adults and children. The location is also very convenient, close to shopping and dining. While the heated pool isn't huge, the water temperature was comfortable and perfectly adequate for children to splash around in. Overall, if you're booking this hotel solely for the kids' club, like we did, you might want to reconsider. I hope the hotel addresses the indoor air quality issue, as health and safety are paramount when traveling with children. However, if you're here for a business trip or prioritize the executive benefits, this hotel is definitely worth staying at.

Pros: The hotel has an excellent location, close to many well-known restaurants and shopping malls, making it very convenient to get almost anything you need. The staff were polite and always greeted us warmly. They also tried their best to fulfil my requests noted in the booking remarks. As I was travelling with elderly parents, they kindly arranged anti-slip mats for every bathroom. Many tables were also fitted with protective coverings to help reduce the risk of injury. Cons: The bathroom floor towel had a lipstick stain. I also requested a bolster, but instead received two pillows tied together, which was a bit disappointing. The lift can be quite slow. Overall: My parents and I enjoyed our stay at Fraser and would consider staying again!

The hotel was as good as expected. After checking in, we had about an hour of free time, so we went to the hotel lobby lounge for a coffee. Both the ambiance and the drinks were great. The breakfast selection was also rich. The room was large and quiet, and the shower pressure was strong enough. A special mention goes to the incredibly helpful and friendly staff at the front desk and the housekeeping team. I highly recommend this hotel.

The location is an absolute winner! The hotel has direct access to TeeMall, and it's within walking distance to Parc Central and Grandview Mall. The Sports West Road subway station is also very close, so you can shop and find food without enduring the elements – super convenient for getting around. Check-in was very efficient, and the front desk staff were pleasant and easy to communicate with. The room was spacious with large windows offering expansive views. The mattress was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a great night's rest after a day of exploring. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, the hot water was stable, and the cleaning was meticulous, leaving it spotless and odor-free. Amenities are comprehensive; the heated pool and gym were both fully operational. What's more, you can store your luggage for free after check-out, which is a thoughtful touch, allowing us to pick it up after we'd finished exploring the shopping districts. This established five-star hotel truly delivers on reliability. It's suitable for both business trips and leisure travel/food adventures. The front desk service was warm and efficient for check-in and check-out, and they responded promptly to any requests. The overall environment was quiet, allowing for good rest. The price offers great value for money, making it suitable for both business trips and short getaways. The room was excellent, with a good amount of space. The front desk upgraded us to a high-floor smart room, which was spotlessly clean. The disposable amenities were a bit basic but covered the essentials, and the toiletries for washing and showering were of good quality. The service was also great; perhaps because of the high temperatures during the day, the hotel even provided herbal tea to every guest, which was very much appreciated! Although this hotel is rated 4-star, I felt it was better than some 5-star hotels in Guangzhou. The breakfast and lunch offerings were both very good, and there's even morning tea available on the top floor. We didn't even need to go out for food during this trip to Guangzhou, as we could enjoy authentic local cuisine right in the hotel. Facilities: Well-equipped, American-style decor, everything is online and timeless. Hygiene: Established cleanliness, but details like table corners could use more attention. Environment: You can shop, eat, drink, play, and visit a museum all within the hotel. Service: Everyone is on point, and the switchboard processes calls immediately. As the only national brand among China's three platinum five-star hotels, it boasts unique historical and cultural elements, and is a symbol of China's reform and opening-up. Its history and ethos are evident. My first impression during check-in was that everyone was very busy; while check-in was slow, the staff were very pleasant. As a Lingkehui Gold Card member, in addition to a room upgrade, I also received complimentary breakfast and executive lounge access. If room availability allows, late checkout until 2 PM is possible. The hotel has a very high occupancy rate, with many foreign guests and airline crew. There might be some communication gaps between departments like housekeeping and restaurants. This time, my Deluxe King room was upgraded to a Red Kapok King Suite. The room, being older, combined with ongoing government construction nearby, meant the soundproofing was a bit lacking. The extra bed was too soft and a bit uncomfortable, and some other hardware in the room was a bit dated, but it didn't detract too much from the stay. On the first floor, there's an outdoor back garden with a small waterfall, both popular photo spots. I saw many people taking pictures, it was lively. The ornamental fish in the pond were huge. On the 4th floor, there's a free, public Garden Hotel Museum (closed Mondays), which is well worth a visit, explaining the development history of various hotels and just how amazing Garden Hotel is. You really must spend some time exploring it. The gym (well-equipped) and outdoor swimming pool (not heated) are on the other side of the 4th floor, with two squash courts (reservation required). All hotel signage is in Chinese, English, and Japanese. There's currently construction outside the hotel (the typical 'dong dong dong' sound of Guangzhou)... You really should experience our Garden Hotel with its Lingnan characteristics.

The service still lives up to the reputation of an established hotel. However, the cleanliness was truly appalling. I ended up having to clean the bathtub myself. The reason I didn't ask housekeeping was because I wouldn't have trusted it even if they had cleaned it. So, I took matters into my own hands with alcohol wipes. To my surprise, after wiping it down, the bathtub was incredibly dirty, leaving a black mark on my hand from the grime. This really doesn't meet the standards expected of an old-school five-star hotel.

I took my mom to Guangzhou, and it truly exceeded our expectations! My mom kept asking me how I found this hotel. The front desk ladies always greeted us with genuine smiles, and the bellmen on the first floor were always quick to open and close our car doors. This time, we celebrated our anniversary by staying in an Executive Room at the Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou, and the overall experience was excellent. As soon as we got out of the car, the bellboy promptly came over to help with our luggage, and then we checked in directly at the Executive Lounge. It was very efficient, and we didn't have to wait in line at the main lobby. The hotel had thoughtfully prepared a card and a cake to celebrate our anniversary, which was a very nice touch. What left the deepest impression was the service. No matter where we were in the hotel, every staff member we encountered greeted us kindly, making us feel right at home. I'd especially like to commend Nicolo from the Executive Lounge, Oriental Club. From the moment we checked in, he was incredibly welcoming. Every time we visited the Executive Lounge, he remembered our names and always chatted with us pleasantly, with a smile on his face. His service was professional and friendly, adding many wonderful memories to our trip. Additionally, Yamy and Silvia, who handled our check-out at the Executive Lounge, proactively asked if we wanted to pack some drinks and also gave us a refrigerator magnet. The only thing that needs improvement is the late check-out policy. The front desk initially told me that it depended on availability and was generally not possible, and in the end, they could only extend it until 2 PM. Considering that hotels of a similar caliber usually offer more flexible late check-out options, I hope the hotel will actively consider extending the late check-out time.

The variety of food options was extensive, allowing for free choice. It's suitable for both short business trips and extended stays. Overall, the value for money is outstanding, and I will definitely choose this place again on my next visit.

The hotel's location is excellent, especially since I was visiting Sanyuan Palace this trip. Booking this hotel made it incredibly convenient to get there. From my window, I had a great view of Baiyun Mountain and Yuexiu Mountain in the distance, a truly expansive vista. The room was clean and tidy. A pleasant surprise was receiving freshly baked oatmeal cookies from the front desk upon check-in!

The room was clean and the facilities were relatively new, with a nice view outside the window. Overall, it still had an old-money vibe, as the hotel's age is undeniable, and even renovations have their limitations. I particularly want to mention the faucet in the bathroom sink – it didn't have a filter, and the spout was quite high, so water splashed everywhere when turned on. The instant coffee in the room was terrible, though the coffee machine in the buffet restaurant was decent. For the buffet lunch, the desserts, ice cream, and fruit were good, but the main courses were mediocre. The sashimi always had a long line, and its presentation was a bit lacking. Regarding the ”Golden Ball Lychee Pastry”: it was advertised as one per day, but I didn't receive it on subsequent days of my stay.

The hotel is wow! They have free transportation from terminals. If you arrived at terminal 2, after passing passport control, go to the second floor to departure hall and find exit 46. The bus from the hotel will pick you up right there, outside the exit. Reception guys are very helpful, they helped with your luggage and anything you need. The room itself is very spacious. The floor in the room is so soft, like a cloud! The bed is very comfortable, pillows just amazing! The bath robe is so soft, double layered, I loved it. All you need you have in a room. Only one thing can be improved, could be nice if there would be face wash and face lotion at least. Overall, very pleasant stopover experience. Would book again for longer stopover to discover hotel’s spa and restaurant.

An experience that exceeded our expectations! As soon as we arrived at the hotel entrance, a doorman greeted us, opened the car door, took our luggage, and escorted us all the way to the hotel elevator. When we checked in, the front desk lady was very kind. We originally booked a river view room, which doesn't have a view of Canton Tower, but she told us that since we were staying for three nights, she upgraded us to a tower view room. We were so pleasantly surprised! The next day was my child's birthday, and she said they would send a cake to our room. She also thoughtfully asked about our travel plans, mentioning that we could contact them anytime for any needs and that they could even provide travel tips. The staff's service attitude was truly heartwarming and considerate! 💖 Although the hotel has been open for over a decade, it's very well-maintained. The overall style is understated luxury, without excessive or gaudy decorations; it's simple and clean. I was particularly impressed by the dark green room doors with their smooth, rich finish and excellent texture. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the guest room offer expansive views, overlooking the entire Canton Tower. The marble bathroom and soft, skin-friendly bedding – you can tell from many small details that the materials used are exquisite and carefully selected. For the birthday, we booked the Prime Steakhouse on the 100th floor. The table was sprinkled with rose petals, and there was even a 'Happy Birthday' letter sign, making it feel very ceremonial. The restaurant also gave us a red velvet cake, and when we left, they gave us shell-shaped cakes. Back in our room, there was yet another red velvet cake from the hotel! Haha, they are truly thoughtful... A big thank you again to the hotel for their thoughtful and meticulous service, which gave us an unforgettable birthday trip! 💐

The location is excellent, with great food and attractions all within walking distance – truly superb. The service was exceptional and genuine; both the front desk staff and housekeeping were wonderful, and even the lobby concierge was very polite, unlike some issues mentioned in other reviews. However, despite such a fantastic location and excellent service, the room itself was a major letdown due to its age and a strong musty smell. You could tell the room was well-maintained and spotlessly clean, but the musty odor from the old carpet and the wobbly mattress, which didn't fit the bed frame, made for a very uncomfortable stay. The pungent smell triggered my allergic rhinitis, and I constantly felt nauseous. I'd feel fine as soon as I left the room, but my chest would tighten up the moment I re-entered. My partner developed an allergic cough overnight and couldn't sleep well, tossing and turning. Even worse, the mismatch between the mattress and the bed frame caused violent shaking with every turn, feeling like motion sickness. After one night, we had no choice but to abandon such a great location and excellent service and find another hotel.

As someone who rarely leaves reviews, Shangri-La truly deserves a special commendation from me! It's one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. First and foremost, the service was excellent. Not only did they meet reasonable guest requests – for instance, for my birthday they provided a thoughtful and delicious cake – but I also felt genuinely respected by their service-oriented approach. Special shout-out to Lucy, Beryl, and Chloe from Guest Relations! They upgraded me to a river view room this time, and the scenery outside the window was expansive. Stepping into the room immediately felt so refreshing. One major reason I chose Shangri-La was their swimming pool. The indoor pool was clean, tidy, and quite spacious. The outdoor pool looked stunning, though unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to experience it this time. How many hotels can boast two pools? The gym was also great, and there's a tennis court that I didn't get to see. From an exercise perspective, I think Shangri-La is truly excellent!

Decided to take a spontaneous trip during the May Day holiday and looked into nearby resorts. Mulian Zhuang came highly recommended for its overall value for money, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived on the afternoon of the 30th, which helped us avoid the peak rush. From the parking attendant to the front desk staff and the shuttle bus driver, everyone was incredibly friendly and professional. The front desk kindly upgraded our room to one by the lake, which was incredibly comfortable and offered a more peaceful environment. The first day was a bit chilly, but lying on the balcony deckchair, listening to the birds and the sound of the water, was incredibly relaxing. It really helped us achieve our vacation goals, haha! The hotel itself is designed like a garden, with rooms scattered across the hillside, connected by small paths. This layout ensures minimal disturbance between guests. Taking a leisurely stroll around is lovely, and if you don't feel like walking, you can always 'call' for the park shuttle, which is very convenient. If you're looking for peace and quiet, soaking in the hot springs or swimming here are excellent choices. I was so engrossed in the scenery that I barely took any photos!

I stumbled upon this hotel online, and it's not too far from Guangzhou. When I booked, I mentioned it was for a birthday, and they were thoughtful enough to arrange some birthday decorations. I think both the service and the room were quite good. The environment is also lovely, with a large green area and fresh air, a nice escape from the city bustle, which is very relaxing. My main critique is that the food needs improvement, and the hot spring pools too – there were too many leaves and no one seemed to be clearing them out. The experience wasn't great. I hope the hotel can improve these aspects to make it even more perfect.

The room was clean and tidy. What pleased me most was the hairdryer – they've upgraded it to a new model, and the power and temperature are just right. The temperature adjustment cools down quickly, which I really appreciated! We had dinner directly at the hotel's Chinese restaurant (Cantonese cuisine), and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The hot springs were very relaxing. Even though it's summer, the evenings here are cooler than in the city, making it perfect for a soak. We went after dinner, alternating between soaking and relaxing, and had plenty of time. My only minor gripe was with breakfast; the variety of dishes didn't seem as extensive as before. I think they could make some adjustments there. Also, I was quite unhappy that there was no one managing the queue at the noodle soup station. I was queuing properly, but then people without any queuing etiquette just crowded together, making it chaotic and easy for people to cut in line. Guests trying to maintain order themselves can easily lead to arguments. I really hope they can assign staff specifically for guidance during peak times, rather than having one person do multiple jobs, as the staff preparing food inside can't possibly manage this. The same applies to the hot spring lounge. Last night, I even saw someone using the cookie tongs to pick up fruit, and when I wanted fruit, all the tongs were gone. The lack of order was frustrating. While there were enough items for everyone, some inconsiderate guests can really ruin the experience. I believe the hotel has a responsibility to monitor and improve such situations.

The room was very spacious, and the courtyard environment was quite pleasant with almost no insects, making evenings quite comfortable. However, could the bed linen, living room pillowcases, and chair cushions be changed more frequently? They were a bit dirty; I didn't even dare to sit on them. The hot spring bath was very comfortable; the water could be refilled endlessly without extra charge, which was great. The pool was also quite clean. The restaurant food was just so-so, nothing special to mention. I'd recommend eating at a nearby farmhouse instead.

This time, I took a taxi from Guangzhou East, and the journey was about an hour. The last time I stayed at this hotel was in December 1995. I remember back then they advertised that even Premier Zhou Enlai had stayed here. This time, I was impressed by how much the hotel's scale has expanded. I checked in on the 25th to a double room with a private hot spring and garden view on the 5th floor in Cui Xi building. The room was great, with its own private pool. Additionally, there's a complimentary outdoor hot spring for guests to enjoy. The only minor drawback is that to reach the rooms on the 5th floor of Cui Xi building, you have to transfer elevators twice. My memory is still good, and I could remember the way, but I saw some elderly guests often getting lost, so it would be better if the signs were larger. Although the room has a private pool, it lacks a temperature display. It would be great if one could be added to prevent scalding. It was my friend's birthday on the day we checked in, and the front desk didn't notice immediately, which is a very basic oversight for hotel staff. We weren't asking for a cake or an upgrade, just a simple 'Happy Birthday.' Not noticing shows a lack of attention, and management should take note. Overall, the experience was excellent, and I hope it gets even better in the future.

First, the downsides: the room facilities are indeed a bit old, which is understandable given the age of the hotel. Many rooms could use an upgrade in terms of hardware. Now, for the positives: despite the slightly older hardware, the service and management are truly excellent, surpassing many so-called star-rated chain hotels. The butler service is comprehensive and attentive. It's clear that even with the challenging economic environment, the owner is willing to invest in service and soft amenities. You can also catch a glimpse of the fireworks show from the neighboring Forest Sea at 8 PM. And I even noticed a collaboration with my alma mater in the owner's publication – quite a coincidence!

Basking in the Glory of the Past This is a very hard review to write because the Grand International Hotel feels like two completely different properties at the same time. The public areas are excellent—beautiful, grand, and clearly designed to impress—while the room I stayed in on the eighth floor was a very different experience, as shown in the photos. One major positive is the location. The hotel is only about 250 feet from the Metro entrance, and from there it’s an easy 11‑minute direct ride to the Canton Fair. For anyone attending the fair, the convenience is outstanding. The room, however, had several issues. There was a strong mildew or mold smell from the moment I entered. The hallway carpet and the room carpet both had visible water marks. In the shower, only the bottom faucet worked, and the water pressure was extremely high, making it difficult to use comfortably. There were also dark areas in the shower that looked like black mold. The odor in the room was noticeable throughout the stay. The lobby and shared spaces are genuinely stunning, and even the men’s restroom features an aquarium. Breakfast was also excellent, with one of the most Western‑friendly selections I’ve seen in China. The gym requires an additional 50 RMB per day to use. I did not try to change rooms as I arrived late at night and was only staying for two nights. As a result I’m not sure other floors are better. The public areas are truly impressive, but my rooms condition didn’t match the quality presented elsewhere in the property.

I booked a standard room with a partial tower view. While the tower view was a bit skewed, the location was still excellent, offering a beautiful view of the tower from the window. The room itself was very old and dated, with the chair armrests and door frames showing signs of dampness and peeling. There was also a noticeable odor on our floor as soon as the elevator doors opened. My friend booked a 'Shengmei' tower view room, and their tower view was perfectly centered, with the Canton Tower right in the middle of their window. Their room was newly renovated, and their floor smelled pleasant as soon as the elevator opened, a stark contrast to ours. If the price difference isn't significant, I'd highly recommend booking a newly renovated room with 'Shengmei' in its name.

I really love this classic State Guesthouse. The White Swan Hotel has a deep-rooted history, and the staff are all very professional and well-qualified. For dinner, we went to the Jade Garden restaurant on the third floor. We got a table right away without waiting, around 5:15 PM. There was a live guzheng performance for 45 minutes, and hotel guests get a 15% discount on food, plus a 15% service charge. Our meal for two cost 1075 yuan. We stayed in a river view room. The blackout curtains worked great, so no sunlight came through in the morning. The shower had excellent water pressure, making for a comfortable wash. What was unpleasant, however, was the service at the bakery on the first floor. A tall female staff member, upon hearing I wanted to buy a Napoleon cake to send home, immediately told me it couldn't be shipped. She claimed they'd had incidents where customers complained about expired food after shipping, blaming the delivery person. I told her that if I chose to ship it, I would accept the risk of spoilage and she needn't worry. She insisted I call SF Express to confirm if they would ship Napoleon cakes. I made the call, and the courier arrived quickly to pick up the package. Plus, SF Express offers next-day air delivery. It's not necessary for the bakery staff to play the role of a know-it-all when it comes to potential disputes with couriers later on. If I couldn't ship it, I'd just eat it myself. Why make a customer who has traveled so far so unhappy? Why create so many hurdles just to sell a cake? I really don't understand. Her well-intentioned advice, which crossed professional boundaries, was unnecessary. A simple reminder would have sufficed. If I couldn't ship it, would she have refused to sell it to me? It's such a simple process: the customer wants to buy bread, you scan the code and take payment. This was truly bizarre.

It's incredibly close to the Olympic Sports Center, making it super convenient for attending concerts. Stepping into the room instantly washed away the fatigue of travel. What was even more heartwarming was that the hotel knew we were Jolin Tsai concert fans and thoughtfully presented us with a welcome fruit basket. These small details showed so much sincerity and made us feel incredibly warm. I must give a special shout-out to the kind young man with glasses from the gift shop! He was very genuine and not at all perfunctory. The entire staff at the hotel provides excellent service. Every staff member is warm, polite, and friendly. Communicating with them about any issues is smooth and stress-free. Their service is just right – they don't intrude excessively but are always there to help when needed. The most surprising thing was the room's fantastic view! In the morning, when I drew back the curtains, I captured a breathtaking sunrise, and in the evening, I witnessed a romantic and healing sunset. The light and shadows were stunning, making every photo look like a masterpiece. The scenery was truly therapeutic. During the day, I immersed myself in the passionate and thrilling atmosphere of Jolin Tsai's concert at the Olympic Sports Center, enjoying the music carnival. At night, I returned to the quiet and comfortable hotel for a good rest. This balance of activity and relaxation made my trip incredibly fulfilling. Whether it's the environment, the hardware facilities, or the staff's attentive and thoughtful soft service, Vipers Hotel delivered a perfect score. The location is ideal for concert attendance, and the service is full of warmth, with constant small gestures that bring delightful surprises. If I ever come to the Guangzhou Olympic Sports Center for another show, I will undoubtedly choose to stay here again. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all fans, concert-goers, and friends visiting Guangzhou. It was a truly memorable and absolutely perfect stay!

Guangzhou East Railway Station/Wushan Guangzhou|0.95km from city center
I chose this hotel for a business trip, and its location is great – not far from the subway, with plenty of amenities nearby, so no worries about food or drinks! The main thing, perhaps because it's Guangzhou and the season is humid, is that the hotel is a bit older and has a unique musty smell. Fairies sensitive to smells should be cautious! Room facilities: The facilities are complete, with an older, four-star-plus decor style. Value for money: Good value for money. Bed: Tidy and clean. Hygiene: The cleaning staff (Ayi) are quite meticulous; they even clean and replace items during extended stays.

My stay was absolutely fantastic, easily a five-star experience. 1. **Service:** Check-in at the front desk was efficient, and the staff were incredibly patient. Luggage storage requests were handled promptly. Housekeeping did a thorough job cleaning, and the room was free of any odd smells or neglected corners. 2. **Facilities:** The room was spacious, and the mattress was just right – not too soft, not too firm – ensuring a great night's sleep after traveling. The air conditioning, lighting, and bathroom fixtures all worked perfectly. Hot water supply was stable, and the wet/dry separation in the bathroom made it very easy to keep tidy. 3. **Location:** The location is excellent. There was ample parking for self-drivers, and public transport access was convenient. There are plenty of options for shopping and dining right outside. The common areas were clean and quiet, providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere overall. The value for money is definitely there, making it suitable for both short trips and business travel. Highly recommended.

The stay experience at Rosewood Residences Guangzhou was outstanding. The apartment-style room offered a strong homely atmosphere, with one apartment per floor ensuring great privacy. The large floor-to-ceiling windows provided expansive city views of Zhujiang New Town, and the interior amenities were complete, making for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Special thanks to Skylar, who was professional and thoughtful, actively communicating before and after check-in, efficiently helping us coordinate room-related matters, and responding promptly with just the right touch of service. The overall environment was quiet and elegant, making it suitable for both short trips and extended city stays. I'm very satisfied with the overall experience and highly recommend it.

Had a very satisfying stay! It's close to the airport, about a 10-15 minute drive, and the airport pickup and drop-off services were excellent. The hotel facilities are very new, and as soon as you insert your key card, you get a pleasant greeting from the smart assistant (Xiao Du). It was very clean and included breakfast. Five-star recommendation!

The room was spacious, and the bathroom was large, complete with a bathtub and a sofa. The swimming pool was quite murky in the afternoon due to many children during the summer holiday. However, that evening, I saw a cleaning robot working in the pool from upstairs. The next morning at 8 AM, the water was crystal clear and very clean. It was my child's birthday that night, and the hotel sent us a birthday cake. It was delicious, thank you so much!

The room was very clean, though there were some minor damp stains on the ceiling, walls, and in the bathroom. Overall, it was excellent. The front desk staff were also very helpful; any issues were promptly addressed and resolved. Food delivery was incredibly convenient, with a QR code on the desk for one-click ordering. The hotel's surroundings were lively, perfect for a stroll, and there was a 24-hour dim sum restaurant right outside with delicious food.

This hotel was perfect for attending Chen Chusheng's concert. It's just one subway stop from University Town, so getting back to the hotel quickly after the show was a breeze. A big shout-out to Guangzhou's excellent management; the order was fantastic! The hotel's location deserves full marks – it's right by subway exit A, super close! 😁 The higher floor offered great views, and the room was spacious. The breakfast had delicious bread and waffles 🧇, tasty freshly made rice noodles, and plenty of fruit. We enjoyed the views while we ate. Both the floor staff and the ground floor attendants were very friendly. If you have time, you can also walk along the greenway on the island. The only downside is the price, around 500 a night, but overall, it was a good experience.

The hotel is 3 minutes from Shiqiao station. There is a bus line in front of the hotel that takes you to Shawan old town and other sites. It is across from a local mall with a lot of eateries. My only complaint is the cloth drier is hard to use without WeChat pay. Anyway, it is a good stay at this property.

Guangzhou Sunac Resort and Surroundings Guangzhou|31.92km from city center
It's true what they say: no comparison, no harm. My family always used to book Hilton for me, but this time they told me to try something new, so I only booked one core hotel, and it turned out to be a Wyndham. Hilton's quality is consistently good; the Hilton in this area even has more spacious rooms than others, and the service is quite good. However, Wyndham's quality really varies. The Wyndham I stayed at in Qingyuan, Lianzhu, was excellent, but the one in Panyu felt pretty average. Next time, I'll stick with Hilton. It offers great value for money, and while it might not be a high-star hotel, the quality is definitely up to a certain standard, and the breakfast is also quite standard.

True to its brand, the hotel is nestled within a park. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the bathrooms have separate wet and dry areas. The floor attendant was very diligent; they kindly helped me with my preference for a thinner pillow. The young men and women at the front desk were also patient in teaching me how to use the app to call an autonomous taxi (Pony.ai), which made getting to nearby malls and attractions very convenient. The breakfast selection was rich, the pool water was very clean, and the gym facilities were comprehensive. All in all, I had a very comfortable stay for these two nights. I will definitely choose Nansha Marriott Hotel again on my next visit to Nansha.

This hotel truly embodies the meaning of ”home away from home.” From the moment I walked in, the warm smiles and greetings from the hospitality staff made me feel incredibly welcome. The comfortable sofa in the room was the perfect spot to relax, just like a cozy recliner. The hotel's laundry return service was a particularly pleasant surprise; my clothes were folded neatly – excellent attention to detail. Must-Know Tips for Guangzhou Transport

  • Use the metro for most sightseeing trips because it is fast, affordable, and connected to major attractions.
  • Download Alipay, DiDi, and Amap before arriving. Google Maps and Grab may not work reliably in mainland China.
  • Save your hotel name, address, and destinations in Chinese to show taxi drivers.
  • Avoid metro rush hours from around 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
  • Check the correct metro exit because large stations may have many exits far apart.
  • Carry some RMB cash as backup in case mobile payment or international cards do not work.
  • Terminal 1 at Baiyun Airport is temporarily closed. Check whether your flight uses Terminal 2 or Terminal 3.
  • Terminal 2 connects directly to Metro Line 3, while Terminal 3 requires an airport shuttle or intercity train connection.
  • Use official taxi queues and make sure the driver turns on the meter.
  • Book DiDi through the English app or Alipay for clearer fares and pickup details.
  • Bring your original passport when taking high-speed trains.
  • Allow extra travel time during the Canton Fair and Chinese public holidays.
