Guangzhou Transport Guide: Best Ways to Get Around the City

Author's Profile Picture
Guangzhou Transport

Guangzhou has a large transport system connecting Baiyun Airport, railway stations, shopping areas, the Canton Fair Complex, and popular attractions. For most Filipino travelers, the easiest way to explore Guangzhou is by metro, with DiDi or taxis for late-night trips, heavy luggage, and destinations far from a station.

❤️ Pro Tip: Book your Manila to Guangzhou flights and Guangzhou hotels early, especially during the Canton Fair and Chinese public holidays. Staying near a metro station makes sightseeing much easier.

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to the City

Guangzhou Airport to the City

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is around 28 kilometers from central Guangzhou. Your best transport option depends on whether your flight arrives at Terminal 2 or Terminal 3.

Important Airport Update for 2026

Terminal 1 temporarily closed for renovation on May 7, 2026. Airport South Metro Station is also temporarily closed, with trains currently passing through without stopping. Flights previously using Terminal 1 have moved to Terminal 3. Check the latest terminal information on your ticket before traveling. See the official airport update.

From Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is connected directly to Airport North Station on Metro Line 3. The journey to central Guangzhou usually takes around 40 to 60 minutes, depending on your destination and transfers.

This is the cheapest option for travelers staying around Tianhe, Zhujiang New Town, Yuexiu, or other central districts.

From Terminal 3

Terminal 3 does not currently have a direct Guangzhou Metro station. Travelers can use:

Metro and airport shuttle: Take the shuttle between Terminal 3 and Gaozeng Station, where you can connect to Metro Lines 3 and 9. The shuttle journey takes about 15 minutes.

Guangdong Intercity Railway: Baiyun Airport East Station is connected to Terminal 3. Trains connect the airport with areas such as Pazhou and Panyu, where passengers can transfer to other transport.

Taxi or DiDi: A ride to central Guangzhou usually costs around CNY 120 to 200, approximately ₱1,090 to ₱1,820. Traffic, tolls, and your hotel location can affect the final fare.

🎉 Pro Tip: Read our Guangzhou Airport to the City guide to compare metro, airport shuttle, intercity train, taxi, DiDi, and private transfer options, including estimated fares and travel times.

Yang Cheng Tong Transport Card

Yang Cheng Tong Transport Card

Yang Cheng Tong is Guangzhou’s rechargeable transport card. It works on the metro, public buses, trams, and many water bus routes.

You can buy selected card types from metro service counters, Yang Cheng Tong service centers, and some convenience stores. A deposit card generally requires a CNY 20 deposit, plus the amount you want to add.

For a three to five-day visit, adding around CNY 50 to 100 is usually enough if you mainly use the metro and public buses.

Yang Cheng Tong is useful if you:

  • Do not want to set up mobile payment
  • Have limited mobile data
  • Plan to use buses and water buses
  • Are staying in Guangzhou for several days

Guangzhou Public Buses

Guangzhou Public Buses

Public buses are cheap and reach areas that are not directly beside a metro station. Most regular city bus rides start from around CNY 2.

You can pay with a Yang Cheng Tong card, a supported transport QR code, or exact RMB cash. Drivers normally do not provide change.

Bus routes can be difficult for first-time visitors because some information is mainly in Chinese. Use Amap or Baidu Maps to check the bus number, boarding stop, direction, and number of stops.

Tips for Taking Guangzhou Buses

  • Prepare exact cash when paying without a card.
  • Save your destination name and address in Chinese.
  • Follow your location using a map app.
  • Press the stop button before your destination when required.
  • Avoid public buses when carrying large luggage.
  • Allow extra time because road traffic can be heavy.

Guangzhou Sightseeing Buses

Guangzhou Sightseeing Buses

Guangzhou sightseeing buses connect several popular tourist areas, including Canton Tower, Beijing Road, Chen Clan Academy, Shamian Island, and Zhujiang New Town.

They cost more than regular public buses but can be convenient for families and first-time visitors. Routes, stops, and operating times may change, so confirm the latest schedule before buying a ticket.

Guangzhou Taxis

Guangzhou Airport to city: By taxi

Licensed taxis are available at airports, railway stations, hotels, shopping malls, and official taxi stands.

The starting fare is around CNY 12 for the first 3 kilometers, approximately ₱109. Additional distance is generally charged at around CNY 2.60 per kilometer. Night surcharges, traffic, waiting time, and road tolls may apply.

Guangzhou Taxi Tips

  • Use the official taxi queue.
  • Check that the meter is running.
  • Show your destination in Chinese.
  • Keep a screenshot of your hotel address.
  • Ask for a receipt.
  • Carry small RMB notes as backup.
🎉 Pro Tip: Read our China Taxi guide to learn about taxi fares, payment methods, ride-hailing apps, and simple tips for getting around Guangzhou and other Chinese cities safely.

DiDi and Ride-Hailing Apps

DiDi in China

DiDi is China’s main ride-hailing app and is the closest alternative to Grab. The English version supports foreign mobile numbers and international credit cards. You can also book rides through Alipay.

DiDi displays the pickup point, estimated fare, car type, driver information, and destination before the journey. This makes communication easier when the driver does not speak English.

DiDi is recommended for:

  • Late-night trips
  • Families with children
  • Travelers carrying luggage
  • Destinations far from a metro station
  • Airport and railway station transfers
🎉 Pro Tip: Read our DiDi App guide to learn how to book rides in Guangzhou, compare car options, link an international card, pay cashless, and find the correct pickup point.

Guangzhou Water Bus

Guangzhou Water Bus

Guangzhou’s public water buses cross different parts of the Pearl River. They are mainly used by locals, but tourists can also enjoy an inexpensive river ride.

Fares usually range from CNY 1 to 5, depending on the route and seating area. One useful route is the short crossing between Huangsha and Fangcun.

Operating times vary by route. Check the latest schedule before going to the pier because some services only run during selected hours.

Pearl River Night Cruise

Pearl River Night Cruise (Dashatou Wharf)

A Pearl River night cruise is a sightseeing activity rather than regular public transport. Cruises usually last around 60 to 90 minutes and provide views of Canton Tower, Haixinsha, Liede Bridge, and the city’s illuminated riverfront.

Boats depart from different piers, including Tianzi Wharf. Ticket prices depend on the departure pier, boat, seat type, and included services.

Haizhu Tram

Haizhu Tram

The Haizhu Tram is a scenic transport option along the Pearl River. It connects Canton Tower with Wanshengwei and passes areas near Party Pier, Pazhou, and the Canton Fair Complex.

A regular ride costs around CNY 2. The full route generally takes around 25 to 40 minutes. It is slower than the metro but offers better river views.

The tram is best for travelers who want a relaxed sightseeing experience.

Shared Bikes

Shared Bikes

Shared bikes from Hello Bike and Meituan are commonly found near metro stations, parks, malls, and residential neighborhoods.

Scan the QR code using the correct app, unlock the bike, and end the ride after parking in an approved area. Registration and identity verification may be less convenient for short-term foreign visitors.

Avoid cycling during heavy rain, extreme heat, or busy traffic. Helmets may not be provided.

🥳 Pro Tip: Getting a China eSIM can help you stay connected while traveling in China.

Walking Around Guangzhou

Sha Mian

Shamian Island

Walking is a good option in areas where several attractions are close together.

Recommended areas for walking include:

  • Beijing Road and Dafo Temple
  • Shamian Island
  • Yongqingfang
  • Zhujiang New Town
  • Canton Tower and the Pearl River promenade
  • Yuexiu Park
  • Dongshankou

Guangzhou is often hot and humid. Wear comfortable shoes, bring drinking water, and carry a small umbrella during the rainy season.

High-Speed Trains from Guangzhou

High-Speed Trains from Guangzhou

Guangzhou is a major railway hub with high-speed trains to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shanghai, Beijing, and other Chinese cities.

Guangzhou South is the main high-speed railway station. It is outside the central tourist districts, so allow extra time for the metro journey, security check, and finding your boarding gate.

Other trains may depart from Guangzhou East, Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou Baiyun, or Panyu. Always check the exact station shown on your ticket because these stations are far apart.

Foreign travelers can book train tickets using a passport. Enter your name exactly as shown on the passport and bring the original document on your travel date.

As a frequent business traveler to Guangzhou, the Jianguo Hotel is always my go-to. I genuinely recommend it to all business travelers – it's my absolute must-stay whenever I'm in Guangzhou! The location is unbeatable, right next to Guangzhou East Railway Station and a subway entrance, making commutes to Shenzhen and Hong Kong, or getting around the city's various business districts, incredibly convenient. There are plenty of malls and restaurants nearby, so all your dining and shopping needs are easily met. The hotel's service is meticulous and thoughtful; the front desk and dining staff are always responsive. The rooms are quiet and tidy, perfect for both working and resting, making for an excellent business trip experience. The biggest surprise, though, was the hotel breakfast. It used to be over a hundred RMB per person, but now it's only 58 RMB – incredible value for money! The variety of food is extensive, with a dedicated whole-grain section featuring corn, sweet potatoes, and various whole-grain pastries. They also offer a wide selection of freshly baked bread, Cantonese dim sum, made-to-order noodles, fresh fruits, and a range of teas and coffees. Whether you're looking for something light and healthy or a hearty meal, they've got you covered. A good breakfast before meeting clients really energizes you for the whole day. Considering the location, service, and dining, this hotel is my top choice for business trips. I'll definitely be staying at Jianguo Hotel on all my future visits to Guangzhou!

Oakwood Premier is extremely convenient - just one metro station ride on Line 1 from Guangzhou East rail station, and <10 mins walk from Exit A. The check in, restaurant and housekeeping staff members are courteous and responsive to our needs - extra towels, restaurant bookings etc. It is a welcoming change from other hotel chains in other countries which we experienced lately. The room is clean and spacious. There is however too many furniture (probably due to accommodating long term guests who need plenty of storage). Less furniture would be ideal with more walking space and effective opening of doors, eg bedroom door, if open, will block access to the wardrobe door. The breakfast buffet spread is sufficient - Chinese and western dishes. The dining room is huge, bright and spacious with large windows. The F&B knowledge could be improved though eg having available the appropriate condiments with the buffet items (calamari rings, delicious but no dips to go with), fresh waffle with no maple syrup (just 4 different fruit jams and 1 peanut butter options), crispy bacon (but not cripsy in reality), Chinese dim sum (with no chili oil/sauce, vinegar etc) at lukewarm temperature (the steaming switch was deliberately kept at OFF though I switched it to ON several times.) We will be back though. The value is in the location, clean and spacious room. Not the food.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Asia International Hotel. I was extremely satisfied with the overall experience. The breakfast was extensive and offered a wide variety of options, all while enjoying a beautiful panoramic view, which made the mornings even more special. The swimming pool was also a great addition—clean, relaxing, and perfect to unwind after a busy day. What stood out most was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful, and communication in English was excellent, which made everything easy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again.

We booked this hotel specifically for the 40th-floor kids' club, but it turned out to be a bit of a letdown. We came to Guangzhou with our child, and after seeing many reviews praising the Westin's indoor kids' club on the 40th floor, we decided to stay here. Unfortunately, the kids' club was quite disappointing – there was a strong, pungent smell inside. I'm not sure if it's been recently renovated, but even as an adult, I felt a bit dizzy after a few minutes, let alone letting my child play in there. On top of that, it only opens at 12 PM daily, and there wasn't a single staff member in sight, which honestly made me a bit uneasy. However, putting the kids' club aside, the rest of the hotel was excellent. Our stay on the executive floor was very satisfying, with attentive service. The breakfast selection was rich and varied, with plenty of options for both adults and children. The location is also very convenient, close to shopping and dining. While the heated pool isn't huge, the water temperature was comfortable and perfectly adequate for children to splash around in. Overall, if you're booking this hotel solely for the kids' club, like we did, you might want to reconsider. I hope the hotel addresses the indoor air quality issue, as health and safety are paramount when traveling with children. However, if you're here for a business trip or prioritize the executive benefits, this hotel is definitely worth staying at.

Pros: The hotel has an excellent location, close to many well-known restaurants and shopping malls, making it very convenient to get almost anything you need. The staff were polite and always greeted us warmly. They also tried their best to fulfil my requests noted in the booking remarks. As I was travelling with elderly parents, they kindly arranged anti-slip mats for every bathroom. Many tables were also fitted with protective coverings to help reduce the risk of injury. Cons: The bathroom floor towel had a lipstick stain. I also requested a bolster, but instead received two pillows tied together, which was a bit disappointing. The lift can be quite slow. Overall: My parents and I enjoyed our stay at Fraser and would consider staying again!

I originally booked this hotel for the pool, but unfortunately, it was closed for cleaning, so I didn't get to use it. The location is super convenient, very close to Guangzhou East Station, which was one of the main reasons I chose it. The concierge on the first floor proactively helped with our luggage upon arrival. Check-in on the 5th-floor lobby was quick and smooth; Marriott's service awareness is quite good. Decided to stay at a 5* hotel as it was my birthday. Room was smaller than expected and the check in lady said room was upgraded which didn’t appear to be as room appeared to be basic. As it was my bday i asked the hotel if they had anything complimentary for someone celebrating their bday to which she said fruit platter then added some dim sum..acceptable but would be nice if they arranged without me asking. Hotel is a bit old and they were renovating so very noisy during day. The breakfast was very good as had good variety of food. Location is also convenient as 2 mins from metro. I've stayed at many hotels, and this Sofitel stay easily makes it into my top three. It's not about how luxurious it is, but rather how effortless and comfortable the stay felt. The room layout was well-designed, the light switches and outlets were conveniently placed, and the bathroom towels were thick and absorbent – getting these details right really makes a difference to the experience. For service, Dion and Mia💖🍥 truly stood out. When I checked in, I mentioned that I'm a light sleeper and sensitive to noise. They immediately checked room availability and switched me to an inner-facing room. As expected, I slept wonderfully those two nights, with absolutely no noise. Dion even messaged me after I checked out to say I'm welcome back anytime and to contact them in advance if I have any special requests. Their attentiveness in listening to guests' needs and then following through is truly rare and commendable. Five-star rating, well-deserved.

The room was excellent, with a good amount of space. The front desk upgraded us to a high-floor smart room, which was spotlessly clean. The disposable amenities were a bit basic but covered the essentials, and the toiletries for washing and showering were of good quality. The service was also great; perhaps because of the high temperatures during the day, the hotel even provided herbal tea to every guest, which was very much appreciated! Although this hotel is rated 4-star, I felt it was better than some 5-star hotels in Guangzhou. The breakfast and lunch offerings were both very good, and there's even morning tea available on the top floor. We didn't even need to go out for food during this trip to Guangzhou, as we could enjoy authentic local cuisine right in the hotel. It offered incredible value for money and was a really fantastic experience.

The W Hotel consistently maintains its high standards, and the facilities are excellent. The only minor issue is that the room lighting isn't dimmable, which makes it a bit too bright. The bathroom lighting, however, is perfect and can be adjusted. Coming back to the room in the evening, I found the bed already turned down, and my slippers neatly placed by the bedside with a towel underneath. There were also three late-night snacks on the table, which instantly warmed my heart. Thank you so much for your thoughtful service.

Facilities: Well-equipped, American-style decor, everything is online and timeless. Hygiene: Established cleanliness, but details like table corners could use more attention. Environment: You can shop, eat, drink, play, and visit a museum all within the hotel. Service: Everyone is on point, and the switchboard processes calls immediately. As the only national brand among China's three platinum five-star hotels, it boasts unique historical and cultural elements, and is a symbol of China's reform and opening-up. Its history and ethos are evident. My first impression during check-in was that everyone was very busy; while check-in was slow, the staff were very pleasant. As a Lingkehui Gold Card member, in addition to a room upgrade, I also received complimentary breakfast and executive lounge access. If room availability allows, late checkout until 2 PM is possible. The hotel has a very high occupancy rate, with many foreign guests and airline crew. There might be some communication gaps between departments like housekeeping and restaurants. This time, my Deluxe King room was upgraded to a Red Kapok King Suite. The room, being older, combined with ongoing government construction nearby, meant the soundproofing was a bit lacking. The extra bed was too soft and a bit uncomfortable, and some other hardware in the room was a bit dated, but it didn't detract too much from the stay. On the first floor, there's an outdoor back garden with a small waterfall, both popular photo spots. I saw many people taking pictures, it was lively. The ornamental fish in the pond were huge. On the 4th floor, there's a free, public Garden Hotel Museum (closed Mondays), which is well worth a visit, explaining the development history of various hotels and just how amazing Garden Hotel is. You really must spend some time exploring it. The gym (well-equipped) and outdoor swimming pool (not heated) are on the other side of the 4th floor, with two squash courts (reservation required). All hotel signage is in Chinese, English, and Japanese. There's currently construction outside the hotel (the typical 'dong dong dong' sound of Guangzhou)... You really should experience our Garden Hotel with its Lingnan characteristics.

This is a classic hotel in the heart of Guangzhou, and its location is really good. The exterior also looks quite grand. The rooms are spacious, and the views from them are very nice. You can also go up to the 63rd floor for an even better view. Breakfast was decent, but it was a shame that during my three-day stay, the noodle station only had a chef on the last morning. I found the front desk service quite subpar. I waited in line for ages, and several male receptionists kept ignoring me or shunting me to a different queue. They were busy chatting casually with the guests in front of them and didn't bother calling the next person. They spent half an hour on pointless conversation, and it felt like it would never end. I was so annoyed waiting that they finally called out a female receptionist from the back to help me with my room card. Also, in the lobby, we were dragging our luggage around, and no staff member came over to offer assistance. Overall, I felt there was hardly any service. There's no self-service laundry room, which I think is a significant drawback. Since there are no room service robots, I had to go up and down to collect my food orders every time, which was a real hassle. The room hygiene was good, but I find it incredibly stingy for a five-star hotel to charge for a tiny bit of coke and other items in the minibar. Many hotels now offer complimentary minibars. To sum it up: excellent location, outdated facilities, and a poor service experience.

Location & Surroundings: The hotel is situated in Huacheng Hui Central, surrounded by numerous shopping malls, making it convenient for shopping and dining. From the hotel lobby, you can see the Canton Tower and the East and West Towers. The only minor inconvenience is that the hotel lobby is on the 22nd floor, while guest rooms are on floors below the lobby. So, every time you return to your room, you have to take one elevator to the 22nd floor, and then another elevator down to your room floor. Service: Overall, the service was quite good, but food deliveries are not allowed to be brought to the room; only other types of deliveries are permitted. Room Layout & Facilities: I stayed in a twin room. The room's layout and flow weren't very practical. Upon entering, you have to navigate a narrow turn before reaching the bedroom area. The shower and bathtub are right next to each other, and there are very few flat surfaces in the room to place belongings, including by the bedside.

No frills, just beautiful scenery at every turn, adorned with pink or purple flowers. There's no revolving door, but someone always opens the door for you when you come and go. There are always staff guiding you to the elevator, and someone to help with your luggage, open car doors, and handle bags. The pool has three lifeguards, and drinks and water are complimentary. Towels are UV-sterilized and handed directly to you. In the evenings, turndown service is completed, and breakfast tags are neatly placed. You'll never see anyone walking around in slippers because the guest room notice prohibits it in public areas. Everything is service-oriented. Next time, I'll still choose The Ritz-Carlton. It's well worth the money. A good brand hotel should absolutely avoid becoming a family resort; it ruins everything! However, the soundproofing of the room door is lacking, and the noise from guests entering and exiting the adjacent room in the morning can be quite loud.

This is always my go-to choice every time I visit Guangzhou. It's an established brand with excellent service and spacious rooms. But what really stands out are the warm and wonderful Jasmine and Wendy. On the day I checked in, my flight arrived very late and I was feeling a bit hungry. I just mentioned it in passing, and Wendy kindly brought me a thoughtful fruit pack. I was truly touched by their kindness.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Surprise Suite Upgrade! Absolutely Perfect Experience! My stay at China Hotel Guangzhou this time was such a pleasant surprise! I originally booked a standard room, but to my delight, our customer manager Sandy thoughtfully upgraded us to a suite for free 🏠! The space was huge, offering plenty of room to move around, and having a separate living room and bedroom meant we didn't disturb each other's schedules – absolutely ideal for a family trip! The room had an expansive view, and the floor-to-ceiling windows provided excellent natural light ☀️. The food street on the first floor is also a must-visit; the bamboo pole noodles were perfectly springy, and the winter melon and fish porridge was delightfully fresh and sweet. It was both convenient and authentic dining. The hotel's location right by the subway entrance made getting around incredibly easy. Sandy's service was truly impeccable, attentive, and incredibly warm-hearted ❤️. Next time I'm in Guangzhou, I'm definitely staying here and asking for Sandy!

The hotel is wow! They have free transportation from terminals. If you arrived at terminal 2, after passing passport control, go to the second floor to departure hall and find exit 46. The bus from the hotel will pick you up right there, outside the exit. Reception guys are very helpful, they helped with your luggage and anything you need. The room itself is very spacious. The floor in the room is so soft, like a cloud! The bed is very comfortable, pillows just amazing! The bath robe is so soft, double layered, I loved it. All you need you have in a room. Only one thing can be improved, could be nice if there would be face wash and face lotion at least. Overall, very pleasant stopover experience. Would book again for longer stopover to discover hotel’s spa and restaurant.

Decided to take a spontaneous trip during the May Day holiday and looked into nearby resorts. Mulian Zhuang came highly recommended for its overall value for money, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived on the afternoon of the 30th, which helped us avoid the peak rush. From the parking attendant to the front desk staff and the shuttle bus driver, everyone was incredibly friendly and professional. The front desk kindly upgraded our room to one by the lake, which was incredibly comfortable and offered a more peaceful environment. The first day was a bit chilly, but lying on the balcony deckchair, listening to the birds and the sound of the water, was incredibly relaxing. It really helped us achieve our vacation goals, haha! The hotel itself is designed like a garden, with rooms scattered across the hillside, connected by small paths. This layout ensures minimal disturbance between guests. Taking a leisurely stroll around is lovely, and if you don't feel like walking, you can always 'call' for the park shuttle, which is very convenient. If you're looking for peace and quiet, soaking in the hot springs or swimming here are excellent choices. I was so engrossed in the scenery that I barely took any photos!

I stumbled upon this hotel online, and it's not too far from Guangzhou. When I booked, I mentioned it was for a birthday, and they were thoughtful enough to arrange some birthday decorations. I think both the service and the room were quite good. The environment is also lovely, with a large green area and fresh air, a nice escape from the city bustle, which is very relaxing. My main critique is that the food needs improvement, and the hot spring pools too – there were too many leaves and no one seemed to be clearing them out. The experience wasn't great. I hope the hotel can improve these aspects to make it even more perfect.

This was my first time staying in the main building, and overall it was a good experience. The room service was very attentive and friendly. The only downside was that half of the sixth floor was under renovation. We were staying on the other side of the sixth floor, so there was a bit of noise, but we spent most of our time in the hot spring area, so it didn't bother us much. A special shout-out: it happened to be my birthday during this stay! The front desk staff noticed when I checked in and specially arranged for a birthday cake. When we went to eat at the German Beer Plaza, we were surprised with longevity noodles and a fruit platter. I also received gifts of mugwort, a mugwort hammer, and a steam eye mask. It was truly full of surprises and made me feel so special! I've been to Bishuiwan several times now, and I'm always drawn back by the hotel's warm service. The food at both restaurants is delicious, and every visit leaves me feeling completely relaxed. Basking in the Glory of the Past This is a very hard review to write because the Grand International Hotel feels like two completely different properties at the same time. The public areas are excellent—beautiful, grand, and clearly designed to impress—while the room I stayed in on the eighth floor was a very different experience, as shown in the photos. One major positive is the location. The hotel is only about 250 feet from the Metro entrance, and from there it’s an easy 11‑minute direct ride to the Canton Fair. For anyone attending the fair, the convenience is outstanding. The room, however, had several issues. There was a strong mildew or mold smell from the moment I entered. The hallway carpet and the room carpet both had visible water marks. In the shower, only the bottom faucet worked, and the water pressure was extremely high, making it difficult to use comfortably. There were also dark areas in the shower that looked like black mold. The odor in the room was noticeable throughout the stay. The lobby and shared spaces are genuinely stunning, and even the men’s restroom features an aquarium. Breakfast was also excellent, with one of the most Western‑friendly selections I’ve seen in China. The gym requires an additional 50 RMB per day to use. I did not try to change rooms as I arrived late at night and was only staying for two nights. As a result I’m not sure other floors are better. The public areas are truly impressive, but my rooms condition didn’t match the quality presented elsewhere in the property.

The hotel's large fan was right outside my room window, spinning non-stop day and night. During the day, it was just background noise, sometimes you wouldn't even notice it. But at night, trying to sleep, it was incredibly loud. What did it feel like? Guangzhou White Swan Hotel (Negative Review): I booked two nights at this hotel just for the dim sum breakfast. It took three phone calls to finally make a reservation at the restaurant, and the staff seemed impatient, offering no proactive information or explanations. When I asked if there was a difference between breakfast and dinner, I was told there wasn't. So, given my schedule, I booked dinner. However, upon arriving tonight, the restaurant informed me they don't serve dim sum breakfast items in the evening. When I raised this issue with the restaurant manager, I admit I said, 'That person's Mandarin wasn't good to begin with (and they were impatient).' Later, the front desk called my room, and the person, laughing, asked me to 'explain the specific situation at the time, are you complaining because you think our staff's Mandarin is poor?' This absolutely infuriated me. I had no intention of complaining or leaving a bad review; I repeatedly stated that I was merely providing feedback for them to self-correct and that no follow-up was needed. To receive such a retaliatory call made me completely rethink my perception of your company's service, far beyond what I expected. Check-in was smooth, and the room was satisfactory. Other staff members were also very attentive and polite. I do not require any compensation or apology, please do not call me again. I hope no one else has to experience such treatment and accusations.

We had a great stay at this hotel in Guangzhou and would definitely recommend it, especially for families. The rooms are spacious, with two double beds and a separate bedroom with a door for extra privacy. There’s also a separate kitchen, a washing machine, a large fridge with a freezer, and a microwave. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you’re lucky enough to get a room facing the Canton Tower, you’ll have an amazing view, especially at night when the tower lights up. The only small downside is that although the room has a kitchen, it doesn’t come with pots, pans, cutlery, or other cooking utensils. It wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s worth knowing if you plan to cook. A big plus is the 7-Eleven located right in the lobby. We also highly recommend the Thai restaurant on the ground floor. It’s an excellent choice for breakfast and for anyone who enjoys Thai food. The dishes are beautifully presented, high quality, and delicious. Their fresh coconuts, smoothies, and pineapple drinks are especially worth trying. The location is another highlight. The hotel is next to a metro station, making it easy to get around the city. Several attractions are within walking distance, and there are good transport connections to other metro lines. It’s around 20 minutes from Canton Tower and about 30 minutes from the wholesale markets, making it a great base for both sightseeing and shopping. The previous staff member had immediately dismissed my concerns, saying it was my own fault, so I hope consumers will be more vigilant than I was to avoid similar situations. To top it off, I left some clothes behind at the hotel, and Manager Wang even paid out of her own pocket to have them couriered back to Shanghai. Thank you so much! The hotel was great! The room price was excellent, and they even offered a shuttle service to the airport. The front desk lady working at night was incredibly diligent and responsible, I really appreciate her help. I'll definitely be staying here again next time.

The room was spacious, and the bathroom was large, complete with a bathtub and a sofa. The swimming pool was quite murky in the afternoon due to many children during the summer holiday. However, that evening, I saw a cleaning robot working in the pool from upstairs. The next morning at 8 AM, the water was crystal clear and very clean. It was my child's birthday that night, and the hotel sent us a birthday cake. It was delicious, thank you so much!

Zhujiang New Town/Guangdong Museum Guangzhou|1.77km from city center
The hotel's location is excellent, right by the Wuyangcun subway station in Zhujiang New Town, making it super convenient to get around. The overall environment is comfortable, and the room was cleaned thoroughly with great attention to hygiene details. A pleasant surprise was the free parking, which was a huge relief for us since we drove. For a location like Zhujiang New Town, the value for money is truly outstanding. It's perfect whether you're here for business or leisure. Overall, I had a very satisfying stay and highly recommend it!

The room was very clean, though there were some minor damp stains on the ceiling, walls, and in the bathroom. Overall, it was excellent. The front desk staff were also very helpful; any issues were promptly addressed and resolved. Food delivery was incredibly convenient, with a QR code on the desk for one-click ordering. The hotel's surroundings were lively, perfect for a stroll, and there was a 24-hour dim sum restaurant right outside with delicious food.

This hotel was perfect for attending Chen Chusheng's concert. It's just one subway stop from University Town, so getting back to the hotel quickly after the show was a breeze. A big shout-out to Guangzhou's excellent management; the order was fantastic! The hotel's location deserves full marks – it's right by subway exit A, super close! 😁 The higher floor offered great views, and the room was spacious. The breakfast had delicious bread and waffles 🧇, tasty freshly made rice noodles, and plenty of fruit. We enjoyed the views while we ate. Both the floor staff and the ground floor attendants were very friendly. If you have time, you can also walk along the greenway on the island. The only downside is the price, around 500 a night, but overall, it was a good experience.

The hotel is 3 minutes from Shiqiao station. There is a bus line in front of the hotel that takes you to Shawan old town and other sites. It is across from a local mall with a lot of eateries. My only complaint is the cloth drier is hard to use without WeChat pay. Anyway, it is a good stay at this property.

The hotel has a good environment and the staff are friendly. They even have robots that deliver food right to your room. It's also super close to Guangzhou East Station. You can just take the B1 exit from the subway, go through the mall, and you're there. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable to stay in.

It's true what they say: no comparison, no harm. My family always used to book Hilton for me, but this time they told me to try something new, so I only booked one core hotel, and it turned out to be a Wyndham. Hilton's quality is consistently good; the Hilton in this area even has more spacious rooms than others, and the service is quite good. However, Wyndham's quality really varies. The Wyndham I stayed at in Qingyuan, Lianzhu, was excellent, but the one in Panyu felt pretty average. Next time, I'll stick with Hilton. It offers great value for money, and while it might not be a high-star hotel, the quality is definitely up to a certain standard, and the breakfast is also quite standard.

Had a fantastic weekend stay at the Nansha Jinmao Marriott Hotel, staying for two nights. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and helped us with a room upgrade. The Marriott is in a great location, and the rooms are new and well-maintained. Downstairs is the beautiful Jiaomen River Park, offering lovely views. Breakfast had a wide variety of options, and it was convenient for lunch and dinner with the Lin Yuan Chinese Restaurant and Fisherman's Wharf Buffet Restaurant right downstairs. Overall, it was a very enjoyable family trip, and we'll definitely choose Marriott again next time.

This hotel truly embodies the meaning of ”home away from home.” From the moment I walked in, the warm smiles and greetings from the hospitality staff made me feel incredibly welcome. The comfortable sofa in the room was the perfect spot to relax, just like a cozy recliner. The hotel's laundry return service was a particularly pleasant surprise; my clothes were folded neatly – excellent attention to detail. The local specialty noodles I had for breakfast were a delicious way to start the day, putting a perfect end to my trip!

Must-Know Tips for Guangzhou Transport

  • Use the metro for most sightseeing trips because it is fast, affordable, and connected to major attractions.
  • Download Alipay, DiDi, and Amap before arriving. Google Maps and Grab may not work reliably in mainland China.
  • Save your hotel name, address, and destinations in Chinese to show taxi drivers.
  • Avoid metro rush hours from around 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
  • Check the correct metro exit because large stations may have many exits far apart.
  • Carry some RMB cash as backup in case mobile payment or international cards do not work.
  • Terminal 1 at Baiyun Airport is temporarily closed. Check whether your flight uses Terminal 2 or Terminal 3.
  • Terminal 2 connects directly to Metro Line 3, while Terminal 3 requires an airport shuttle or intercity train connection.
  • Use official taxi queues and make sure the driver turns on the meter.
  • Book DiDi through the English app or Alipay for clearer fares and pickup details.
  • Bring your original passport when taking high-speed trains.
  • Allow extra travel time during the Canton Fair and Chinese public holidays.
