Hotel Terrace the Garden Mito
4.5/568 Reviews
The absolute best thing about this hotel is the location. It's literally a 45 second walk from the Mito train station. The surrounding area has a ton of restaurants and convenience stores so food availability will never be a problem. The staff here is amazing and speak English very well to help out foreign travelers. I don't know why, but this is the dustiest hotel room I have ever stayed in on my 40 years of life on this planet. Please see the photos. I put my suitcase on the bed to unpack, and when I was I removed my suitcase and it was covered in dust. After the room cleaning was done, there is a layer of dust on many of the high touch areas. I just didn't understand how it could be so dusty. The ac in the room didn't work either. The thermostat shows it could cool the room down to 20C but it never got close. The coldest the room actually got was maybe 23 or 24C
Hotel Nikko Tsukuba

The room is very spacious, much larger than expected. Although it is in the annex, it is very convenient. After getting off the bus, you can take the elevator to the second floor of the main building at Tsukuba Center, and then take the elevator/stairs down to the first floor to check in. There is a reminder to recycle toothbrushes inside. It is worthy of being Japan, environmentally friendly♻️ The sunken square next to the door is also quite design-oriented. There are very few people.
HOTEL CRYSTAL PALACE
3.6/518 Reviews
Some parts of the interior feel old, but overall it is in a good condition. At check-in, there was a guide like a luxury hotel. There is no restaurant around, but I was able to rent a bicycle at the hotel and go to the station. There are meal options there. The hot springs in the hotel are small in circulation, but they are even saunas. Breakfast was buffet style at the hotel restaurant. It's a pity that there aren't many things on the ground, but it's safe. I was happy to have a night crying ramen at the same restaurant as a midnight snack. I think it is an inn with high cost performance overall.
Hotel the West Hills Mito
4.2/527 Reviews
Richmond Hotels are known for providing basic amenities such as fluffy bath towels and clean facilities everywhere. This time I stayed here to go to Kairakuen in Mito. The location is very good for sightseeing in Kairakuen. There are frequent buses from Mito Station to Daikumachi Station, which is right in front of the hotel, so it is much more convenient than a hotel that is only halfway from the station. The West Hills Mito has a completely separate bathroom and toilet (twin room), which was also highly rated for its convenience. The breakfast was also delicious.
Kappo Ryokan Shiroyama

The inn had an old feel to it, but it was clean. As we traveled at the beginning of March, the bath in the room and the washroom were cold. It would have been nice to have a blanket. There was only one large bath, so we had to think about when to enter and when to eat, and it was disappointing that we couldn't take our time. The food was delicious, even though it was a busy one. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful, and we were able to talk, which made the trip even more enjoyable♪ It was very useful to get information about shops, etc.
HOTEL GLOBAL VIEW TSUCHIURA

It is close to the station and has breakfast coffee and toast service. There are also juices and soups. The hotel is a little old building. There are many smoking floors, which may be nice for smokers, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who don't like the smell of cigarettes. This time I stayed in a room on the 2nd floor. Birds were singing loudly at night, maybe the tree near the room is where they sleep.
Kamenoi Hotel Itako

I stayed at a cheap price on a trip discount in Ibaraki Prefecture and got a shopping coupon. The staff was very nice. The facilities are not new, but the room was clean. The meal was made to be a middle grade, but the number of items was large and delicious. Especially the abalone was soft and boiled and delicious. Like other Kamenoi hotels, there was also a service of night soba noodles. The bath was a boiling water of a cold mineral spring, but it was comfortable to see Kitaura. I plan to visit again because the interchange is close and accessible.
Kamenoi Hotel Oarai
3.9/567 Reviews
Staying because the accommodation ticket that can be paid by the hometown of Oarai Cho was available. The price was reasonable, but it was more hospitality. The facilities are a bit old, but the toilet and toilet are new and beautiful. WiFi was also comfortable. The best thing was dinner. It was the cheapest course of ”a little bit”, but it was enough for one meal and one item was polite and delicious. There are some parts that you want a little more (there is no face washing form, shaving cream, towels to wash your body, breakfast is a little less than dinner), and the customer service is good and generally more than the price. I had a news of ”sale of Kanpo inn” just before I visited, but I want you to work hard in any form.
Hotel JAL City Tsukuba

My husband was attending a conference at the adjacent conference center. I wasn't sure what to expect of this hotel from reading reviews. Overall the hotel is ”no frills” but I truly enjoyed my stay. The weather was lovely, so I opened the window at times to enjoy the air. Since it was not very hot outside, I did not miss AC which some reviewers mentioned as an issue. The only breakfast offered was a Japanese style breakfast and it was delicious! Always a fish and rice. Always miso soup with various toppings and always some form of seaweed. there were pickled veggies of all sorts depending on the morning. And often another form of protein such as beef or chicken or eggs as a side dish. Tea and coffee was great and all the juices. I absolutely loved the breakfasts and it filled me up until dinner time. Choose one of the larger sized rooms. Ours was on the small side but due to the thoughtful layout, it worked quite well for the two of us. The water pressure of the shower was fantastic and bath salts are provided if one likes baths. The bed, carpet and furnishings are outdated but in perfect condition and we found the mattress quite comfortable. One of the pillows was a traditional Japanese style which I tried and slept extremely well using it! It was easy to walk to everything using the bicycle path and I enjoyed the tree lined walk to the train station. I would definitely stay again!
KAMENOI HOTEL TSUKUBASAN

The renewal room was clean and there were many tricks for children to enjoy. There was a game corner near the front desk, where I could enjoy nostalgic video games and bring board games to my room to play. The room was made into a family suite with bunk beds. There were also children's toys and toothbrushes. The children's clothes in the hall were in the elevator hall on the front floor. It was good with a separate type. There were many local foods and all were delicious. Personally, I liked the breakfast cherry blossoms and yams for the first time. The night noodles were also delicious.
