Wonderful service - guard and porter at the front, efficient front desk, upgraded to a Nile room.
Pool side was great with a view of the Nile, plenty of chairs and fresh towels, although bar staff sometimes a little slow on drink and food refills this could be forgiven
Buffet breakfast had a good selection including eggs made to order, staff very attentive
Dinner selection was OK but again great service
I initially booked a guesthouse in Aswan, but the environment there was unbearable. So I immediately booked this hotel.
The hotel is located on high ground, right next to the Old Falls Hotel, with a great view.
It's an established hotel, popular with Europeans and Americans, but also quite popular with Chinese tourists. The room's decor is a bit dated, but it's clean, the air conditioning is powerful, and the space is ample. Traveling independently in Egypt isn't easy, so getting a good rest here is very important to me.
Very friendly staff, and especially the great guys at the aqua park who ensure fun, action, and safety on the slides. A large selection at breakfast, so there should be something for everyone.
We had a nice stay, the Housekeeping staff are excellent.
Towels in the bathroom need to get rid because it is old.
Back of the bathroom door is a bit old and not cleaned.
guest relation Christine was not helpful until I called reception and asked about her name.
Reception staff need to be welcoming and friendly.
Our TV didn’t have a signal since arrival, I had to call reception every day a few times to sort it out.
It worked sometimes but was frustrating loosing signal while watching TV and have to ask reception to help. When it happened in the morning, I had to wait until 3pm when maintenance arrive.
Also the screen was blurry.
We had very good service in the restaurant .
the boat service is very good.
This hotel is very good, why are there so many bad reviews? The hotel manager personally took me to check in, and the tipping was free when I took the boat to the island. The environment on the island was quiet, and the rooms were a little old but quite standard. The Mena Palace in Cairo was about the same level.
Overall it was very good, especially the Nile view room in the new building facing the east, where you can see the sunrise, which was beautiful!
Some people who booked basic rooms to save money were arranged to stay in the old building with those money-sucking study tour groups. They felt uncomfortable staying there, which was normal~
Facilities: Very new, a rare sight in Aswan. They even have Chinese outlets and hot water for breakfast – I suspect they've been customized for Chinese people. 😹
Cleanliness: Very clean
Ambient: A view of the Nile from a distance, but it's not very clear for photos; it's still far from the close-up view of the Old Falls in the picture.
Service: Excellent, excellent. The welcome snacks, fruit, and wine were plentiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly.
This is a very contradictory B&B hotel that I don't know if it is worth recommending. Its shortcomings and advantages are very prominent. It is suitable for Internet celebrities to make photos (the following photos are all original photos without retouching), but it is not suitable for anyone who has certain requirements for ”accommodation” itself. If you can find any cheap + clean + similar scenery alternative hotel, it is recommended to change it, but if it is just for taking pictures and scenery, it may be ranked at the top in Nubian Village.
First of all, you have to be able to tolerate:
1. The hotel price is not cost-effective in the peak season, and the B&B offers the price of a five-star hotel.
2. Poor room facilities, rough-style furniture and narrow rooms, worrying bed sheets, bathroom shower water overflowing and drainage is useless, no slippers, toothbrushes, hair dryers (phone front desk can provide).
3. The breakfast is self-service and extremely simple and unpalatable, unlike some people who commented on the set and inexplicably praised it.
4. Tolerate or pay more to continue to tolerate the complaints of the chartered driver to drive into Nubian Village, and then contact the hotel by yourself in the middle of the night to change to a three-wheeled motorcycle in the deserted and dark mountains for 15 minutes to doubt life and reach the mountaintop hotel.
5. Other prices are very unreasonable. We originally wanted to book dinner for the New Year's Eve party, but it cost 100 US dollars per person...
What did we get here?
1. The balcony of the room can see the unbeatable sunrise on the west bank of the Nile. We witnessed the first light of 2025 here at 6 am.
2. The various poses in the cultural buildings of the Nubian Village are very photogenic.
3. The desert next to the hotel is very photogenic.
4. A very special cultural experience of a group of tourists jumping up and down the mountain in a row of three-wheeled vehicles.
5. The hotel service staff is relatively friendly. Finally, it is explained that Egypt is not a country where tipping is allowed. Carrying luggage is a basic service of any hotel in their country. No one asked for tips during the entire stay.
The scenery is beautiful. We checked in very late and took a boat to see the lights of the entire island. It was really beautiful. The room and surrounding facilities were not old. There are also many beautiful cats in the hotel restaurant. I felt relaxed as soon as I entered the island. The scenery was even more beautiful in the morning. The terrace of the room faced the Temple of Philae. I regretted that my stay was too short and I didn’t enjoy it properly. I highly recommend everyone to stay here. But please note that there is a construction site expansion nearby, so it may be noisy, but I believe the scenery will be more beautiful after the renovation.
After my luggage was lost, the staff at the Old Cataract Hotel went above and beyond to help me find it. On the first night, without my suitcase, they even provided many daily necessities (double sets of t-shirts, socks, spray, and other essentials). I was truly touched. The hotel manager who greeted us told us he loves Chinese people, and he didn't just say it; he proved it with his actions! ^_^
It truly lives up to its century-old reputation; it's so impressive. It's not just the beautiful scenery but also the hotel's culture. Every staff member's smiling service and simple Chinese greetings made me feel completely at home!
This trip to Egypt, I met many wonderful people, but also some terrible scammers. I also experienced EgyptAir's 100% flight delays and frequently lost passenger luggage... A fall into the pit, a gain in your wit. Next time, I'll know better what to look out for.
This small hotel is in a small village. I went in February. It was dry and cold. The air conditioner could be cooled. The wind in the door was very strong. The panoramic room had a balcony on one side and it was colder. Sara at the front desk is more professional and can ask her if she needs to ask, but she goes to work at 10 am. The one in charge of the bar was very unreliable. The pot of hot water for us was unwashed. The pot of milk was released. The water soaked was all paste. The food and hygiene were completely untrustworthy. And sold us two bottles of water. We didn't order it, he took it directly to us. So we thought it was breakfast, and finally showed us the price list and asked us for money. I said you didn't tell us, he said you didn't ask. Aswan's first stop impression is therefore very poor!

GGuest UserThe hotel is right by the Nile River. There is a large area full of his homes. It is a bit like a more distinctive homestay. It is in Nubian style, and there are many distinctive decorations in the room.
The hotel is located in the suburbs, and the surrounding area is deserted and remote, so it is also very quiet. The hotel we booked to pick us up from Cairo to Aswan was charged $55. It took about 40 minutes to drive. I felt cheated. In fact, you can call a taxi directly from the airport. It is not as chaotic as it is said on the Internet.
The breakfast in the hotel is not bad. The fried egg is very delicious. There is a waiter who is Nubian. He is very nice to me. He will take the initiative to help me carry things and remind me to pay attention to the steps. It is the most sincere and friendly service I feel in my trip to Egypt. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask his name. When I left, I wanted to find him to tip but couldn't find him.

MM31296****We booked two garden view rooms for our family trip. Hilariously, we checked in at 2:30 PM that day, then rushed to a scenic spot and dinner. When we returned to the hotel around 8:40 PM, our room key cards weren't even ready – incredibly inefficient. To make matters worse, there was no hot water in the rooms. The temperature had dropped significantly that day, and I was traveling with a 3-year-old and my 70-year-old mother. Both rooms had no hot water. I called the front desk, and they said they'd send someone, but we waited a good twenty minutes before a staff member finally arrived. It was clear the staff member wasn't trained; they couldn't speak English and immediately used their dirty hands to touch all the bath towels in the room. Then they just said ”five minutes” and left. We waited another ten-plus minutes with the child, and still no news. I had no choice but to call the front desk again and ask for a room change. I was told the hotel was fully booked. Desperate, I contacted Ctrip, and their overseas specialist spent a long time negotiating before the hotel finally agreed to a room change. However, by then it was past 10 PM, and our child couldn't stay up any longer. We had no choice but to give the child a quick wash and put them to bed. I've never encountered such a poorly managed hotel. I have no idea how it got a 4.9 rating. Also, the hotel's advertised free airport shuttle service is only available at 4 AM and 6 PM; all other times are chargeable. I'm writing this to save others from making the same mistake! We chose this hotel because it's part of the MGM brand, and the room decor and hardware are quite good, but the service (software) is absolutely terrible. So, our conclusion is: in Egypt, don't just look at the brand name of a hotel; as long as it's locally managed, it's a complete mess. ಢ🌚ಢ
