Amazing
AAisitawayeshihouA three- and two-story villa has two bedrooms, and the third will be locked. The room is OK for local consumption. Breakfast in the morning, it is white rice breakfast, not curry, fresh food, OK
The surrounding environment is very good, wake you up in the morning by wild peacocks
The disadvantage is that the hot water in the bath is very short, and the water is cold before one person finishes washing.
GGuest UserReally lovely guesthouse style hotel. Exceptionally clean and nestled at the top of the hills above Kandy so is really peaceful. It’s a 20 minute tuk tuk ride up the hill from the town centre, but well worth it if you want a peaceful and calm place to stay. The owner is also very helpful.
QQiaoannuoJJIf you are alone, it is still a bit scary to drive a tuk-tuk at night because the mountain road behind is a dirt road with no street lights.
The air in the mountains is very good and quiet. There is no air conditioning in the room, but there is a fan, but you can't open the door or windows because there are mountains outside, mosquitoes will come in, and you can also see squirrels. Only if you don't open the window without a fan, there will be no ventilation and it will be a bit stuffy.
The scenery is pretty good.
I stayed for three days and was only given a bottle of mineral water. I had to buy more if I wanted.
After three days, I was only given one piece of soap. After asking for it for a long time, the store insisted that one piece of soap was enough. Later, when they found out that I was doing laundry, they gave me an extra piece of soap.
I can't wash my hair because the hot water is too small. Oh, what a sin.
If you are alone, it is recommended not to go out at night, because you have to walk on mountain roads, and there are occasionally dogs on the mountain roads. Better find a companion.

Very Good
GGuest UserVery pretty and nice resort with mountain view. Friendly staffs and super super nice breakfast.
However, it is too fat away from Kandy city center, you have to pay 1500+ rp for each ride, and most tuk tuk drivers don't prefer to go to this place. The google map shows wrong way and the team knew about this, but informed us just on the day of arrival, making this journey even harder.
GGuest UserA Hidden Gem – Perfect Honeymoon or Quiet Getaway
This place is truly a hidden gem. It was the perfect spot for a honeymoon couple or anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway.
Travel tip: From Colombo, you can catch a direct bus to Nuwalapitiya. We didn’t know this and went via Kandy, which made the journey longer than necessary. If we had known, we would have taken the direct bus—it’s much easier.
Ps:The bus ride is phenomenal—very beautiful views along the way and very cheap.
The property is located on a hill and is naturally beautiful, surrounded by trees and birds whose songs make the atmosphere even more serene. It does get a bit cold at night, but it was the perfect kind of chilly—cozy and refreshing.
Our room had an amazing view, making it even more special. The stay itself was perfect for our honeymoon: very cozy, comfortable, and clean.
The staff were amazing, especially one gentleman at the restaurant (I didn’t catch his name, but I want to mention him). He went above and beyond to help us and was incredibly sweet and warm-hearted—it really made our stay special.
A small note: we noticed the pool looked a bit dirty, which some other reviews also mentioned. However, it was clarified in the pool area that they use natural spring water without chemicals, so this is expected and actually a great eco-friendly approach. But This hotel needs some love because this is a very nice place.
Another small note: there were some insects, like cockroaches, but that’s expected when staying on a hill in the middle of nature surrounded by trees.
Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!!
GGuest UserIt’s a four-room hotel transformed from governor house which has a unique historic colonial style. Room has no windows and no common hotel area. Located next to the Tooth Temple and central streets, convenient for visits and restaurants. Breakfast at the French bistro next door which has good lever of food provided but surprisingly slow service. Overall it’s a good stay for Kandy, but value for money is relatively low.
GGuest UserThe Good
The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture.
The Bad
The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient.
The Ugly
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort.
Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.
TToridesssThe room is large and clean with the strong air con. The staff are helpful and friendly. For the location, there are many restaurant nearby and there are many options that we can choose or ordering the food through Pickme.
GGuest Userhad pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable.
The team was incredibly helpful in arranging transportation and suggesting places to visit. They recommended we attend the Tooth Relic Procession and suggested us to visit a waterfall, which turned out to be the most breathtaking waterfall I've ever seen. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our experience.
When our cab dropped us off in the mid , the hotel staff immediately came to pick us up in tuk-tuk.
The staff was consistently polite and accommodating, making us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about making your stay special. Thank you for the experience!

MM622319****We arrived at the hotel quite late, and the doorman immediately opened the gate for us as soon as he heard our car pull up. The privacy here is excellent, and the environment is incredibly quiet. The faint sound of a bamboo flute subtly eased away the fatigue from our day of travel. Our room was very clean and tidy. In the evening, they even helped us order takeout for a delicious meal – very nice! The service was incredibly thoughtful. In the morning, breakfast was delivered to our room, and enjoying it on the terrace, immersed in the beautiful natural scenery, was a wonderful experience!
