The rooms are clean, warm, and cozy, with floor and bedroom heating—perfect for the cold weather. The toilet even has an auto bidet (very important for us Thais!). Though the hotel is on high ground and the stairs might make you a bit tired, the effort is totally worth it.
The owner is incredibly kind, offering unlimited drinking water and fresh fruit. The rooftop has the best view—beautiful scenery where you can relax and enjoy the moment.

We had an amazing stay at Shangri-La Banxia Time Homestay, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shangri-La, Yunnan. From the moment we booked, the host was extremely responsive, keeping in touch with us for three weeks before our trip. They provided useful tips, such as bringing heavy clothes due to the cold and snow, which helped us a lot in preparing for our visit.
One of the best things about this homestay was the hospitality. The host picked us up and dropped us off at the train station for free of charge, making our arrival and departure hassle-free. They also went the extra mile by lending us winter jackets at no cost, which was a thoughtful gesture. Additionally, they arranged a driver for us to visit the places we wanted to explore, making our trip smooth and enjoyable.
The homestay itself was fantastic—spacious, exactly as shown in the pictures, and equipped with complete amenities. It truly felt like a home away from home. The bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated the hot blankets and oxygen supply, which were essential due to Shangri-La’s high altitude. The homestay also had a modern design while being located in the heart of the ancient town, offering easy access to everything.
Beyond the comfortable stay, the host’s kindness and guidance made our experience even better. They recommended great places to visit and local restaurants to try, ensuring we had a memorable trip.

Very nice and hospitable owner. There are high mountain sickness tea available at lobby also some snacks. Nice room and nice with glass roof.
The homestay include pick up and drop off services from the train stations for our 2-night stay. They also provided day tours and a special ******* cuisine tour, complete with pick up services. On our last day, the lady owner woke up at 6:30 am to send us off. It was a lovely gesture and truly made our stay memorable.

Environment: The room is very large and the facilities are very complete. The oxygen concentrator, floor heating, humidifier and other basic needs can be met! The hotel is very close to the east gate of Dukezong, and it takes less than five minutes to walk to Guishan Park and the ancient city area.
Service: The boss is very enthusiastic. No matter how early the high-speed rail trip is, you can tell the boss in advance that you can pick up for free. We have a high-speed rail at 10 o'clock in the morning, and there are other guests who also want to go to the high-speed rail station. The car can't fit the boss, so he called a special car in advance to send other guests, and he was always worried about other guests' itineraries in the car! Thank you very much🙏
Hygiene: The hotel is also very clean and tidy. I looked at the hygiene of Shangri-La's B&Bs on the Internet before, but this B&B can't be found out of any hygiene problems!
It's a no-brainer rush. I will come to Shangri-La to climb Meili Snow Mountain next winter. I will definitely come to this B&B again!

We had an amazing stay. The owners were very helpful picking us up for free, giving us recommendations for things to do, restaurants and also upgrading our room for free and giving us free sweets and other treats.
She also came with us to the restaurant to explain to us what to order and how to eat the hot pot.
The hotel is renovated, maintaining a typical style but with all new amenities. Even if it was very cold, in the room the heating worked perfectly making it very comfortable.
We hope to come back to this beautiful part of the World and stay again at this hotel.

At first we contemplated to choose to stay here. But after much consideration, we decided to stay and forget about the price. As we decided that the experience here would be priceless! And we definitely grateful with the decision that we made. The whole place is so beautiful and charming. With animals running around, politeness of the staffs assisting our every needs, complimentary services provided by the hotel, this hotel is really cost- effective! We are greeted with warm tea, and then with complimentary afternoon coffee and cakes. Their coffee and cake are very delicious 🤤 We also get to experience wearing the ******* clothing and free photography session. As we are muslims, we need to pray for zuhur prayer. But the check out time is before zuhur time. The staff gave us a room to pray after we check out and we really appreciate their kind gesture. The staff also gave us free rides to halal restaurants and train station. We recommend people to stay here at least once, you will not regret it 🩷

The main part of the B & B is a steel-mixed-earth structure to avoid the sound insulation of the traditional wood structure. Design philosophy is open, innovative, humane and functional, with emphasis on the functioning and spatial organization of the various areas and on the formal beauty of the structure itself. The design is simple and generous, and the space is clean and transparent. The room heating facilities are all water-heating. It is most suitable during the dry season of Shangri-La. There are rest, tea and recreational facilities in the public areas.

Owner is very responsive with my questions. The owner will fetch you at the Shangrila high speed railway station if you stayed for at least 2 nights. Nice and simple breakfast was provided, great thumb up for the lady who prepared the breakfast in early morning. They will carry your luggage to your room as the room is located at level 2 (by stair). We have also washed our cloth in their hotel lobby (with soap provided). Owner is very caring where they provided the oxygen provider to us in our room. Overall good experience.

Cleanliness is honestly so-so. Found used/opened disposable shampoo packets in bathroom when arrived. The in-room hot water dispenser is a small-sized mobile unit that connects directly to a small mineral water bottle - not easy to use plus it discharges some greenish fluid while trying out. The multi-level building has no lift so large heavy luggage is challenging (credit to the staff who would help to carry it up for you), but climbing up/down not easy for old people. Getting the right temperature in the bathroom is challenging too, it's often too hot or too cold, and hard to adjust in between. The hotel allowed smoking in indoor public areas, resulting in the whole building soaked in second hand smoke. This is unfortunately the biggest put off that spoils everything else that could have made it a reasonable stay. Overall, I would say the stay had been below our expectations.

VVy Anh NguyenThis is by far the best hotel I stayed at during my trip to China. The hotel is equipped with all modern amenities, especially the toilet with an automatic bidet (something that’s not found anywhere else in China). The room was incredibly cozy with modern heating facilities, and the host even provided an oxygen machine (though I didn’t actually need to use it). I truly felt that it was worth every penny for the two nights I spent here.
One of the highlights was the adorable and friendly Ragdoll cat that lives here! The hotel owner even allowed us to bring the cat into our room to play, and it was just so sweet and playful.
Moreover, the host offered us a free pick-up and drop-off service at both the train station and the airport, even though it was 7 in the morning! I honestly have no complaints about this hotel. If you want to enjoy a fantastic stay in Shangrila, book this hotel now!

If you are a muslim, this hotel is very close to the halal food stall. The hotel provides pick-up and drop off at the railway station. The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. It also provides extra oxygen in the room. If you come to shangrila, book this hotel straightaway. You will not regret it. You can communicate with the hotel if you want to go to the balagezong.

OOlive GohThis is essentially an inn that is plush in some renovation details but severely lacks warmth. The entire reception and dining area is frigidly cold. Checking into the room, it was so icy we couldn't even take a rest in it. As we headed out to get a late lunch, we asked the lady if they had portable heaters for the night. She said she had just turned on the floor heating and the room should be warmer when we get back. When we returned about 3 hours later, it was still uncomfortably chilly as cold air was seeping through the gap under the door and gliding along the marble flooring into the timber floor where the underlay heating was. The whole design is just wrong and unsuitable for the climate.
The disposable towels are a joke! Imagine being in a cold room and having to dry off with a thin piece of paper towel the size of an A3 paper. Everything was damp and soggy including myself. Luckily we were given proper towels the next day after we asked.
The first day experience was so bad we were considering leaving the next day. However, we know the innkeeper and family are trying their best and it's not so bad once the room warmed up.
A few improvements would really help especially during the winter months:
1. Floor heating must be turned on at least 6 hours before guests check in.
2. Proper bath towels are essential.
3. A thick rug on the marble floor from the door to the timber floor.
4. Try to keep the common space warm (might be difficult given the huge double volume space).

NNaajihahThe hotel was so beautiful. The wood of building structure makes every angle of the hotel is unique. It reminds me of Istana Seri Menanti in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
We just stayed in the room and enjoy the view. The Sunset and sunrise.
The owner named Renqing Cimu Mei was so kind. She helped us in wearing traditional clothes - tibet. She also helped us in paying our dinner at the dukezong halal restaurant since that restaurant didn't receive Ali Pay. We're panicked at that time and so relieved when Renqing Cimu helped us. She also pickup and send us back to the railway station and give us some souvenirs.
We're so happy with the hospitality that given by her. For sure we will comeback with my big family of 12, with extra days of staying, riding the horse, and let my 2 years old niece play with the sheep.

Recommendation:
Maybe you can open a small shop at the lobby and sell white tshirts that printed your hotel name or napa hai lake view or any beautiful nature view in xianggelila. The guests can buy it and bring back to their hometown and will always remember the memories being in your hotel.

GGuest UserThis homestay is the best I've ever stayed in. The location is in a little village just 10 minutes walk from songzanlin temple. It is off the business of dukezong ancient city which is perfect for anyone seeking some tranquillity.
The property itself is amazingly clean. I booked the top floor room for the direct view to songzanlin temple and surrounding mountains. It has 2 beds which would have fitted a family. The property has 2 sections, one with traditional decoration and the other section with modern decoration (which mine was). The room had projector as a TV, smart toilet, and the shower comes with heater functionality. The room also has heated flooring. The balcony is spacious and perfect to drink tea and chill while enjoying the view.
The best part of the homestay thought was the host family. They were very warm and welcoming. The boss drove me to buy ticket to the songzanlin temple, to the bus station the next day and the train station the following morning. Traditional zang tribe breakfast was also provided and I got to taste authentic yak butter tea. They had a couple of options available for dinner (yak hotpot or chicken matsutake hotpot). Both of them were too big a portion for a solo traveller but I ordered the chicken matsutake hotpot which was the smaller one. Amazing tasting soup, one of the best I've ever had.

GGuandaoshiyuanmiaoIt was originally a parent-child trip during the National Day, but the child caught a cold, so we had to cancel it after much hesitation. However, we couldn't let go of Shangri-La, so we changed it to a staggered couple trip. But it was also because of this that we encountered a wonderful experience.
[Park environment] I don't want to say more. I am used to staying in homestays of various prices, but no matter how luxurious the room is, there is an upper limit. The real limit is the world. The environment of this park is a bit like a curtain on the sky. It is a completely beautiful park. The mist brought by the residual heat of the hot spring in the early morning, coupled with the autumn colors of the back mountain, is like a fairyland. After soaking in the hot spring at night, I saw the biggest moon in my life. I really don't know why it is so big. Is it a comparison or are we really closer to the sky?
[Facilities] This is my second time staying in a tent hotel. The first time was in Kenya. It was not that kind of short tent, but a semi-fixed tent room with two large beds, a bathroom and a shower. Although it is in a scenic area, it is comfortable. But I am not used to taking pictures of the room, so please read the hotel introduction.
Of course, we must mention the hot springs. The open-air hot springs are similar to Japanese style. They are real underground hot springs with high sulfur content. Since they are open, you will not feel stuffy. I highly recommend them.
[Food] This is definitely a highlight. We had two breakfasts, which were packed with breakfast. They were simple but tasted good. We had two dinners, and the taste was very good. Other local restaurants in Yunnan have heavier tastes, which we are not used to. The bosses here are from Hunan and Shanghai. We recommend stir-frying and hot pot.
There is milk for bedtime in the evening.
[Secret Adventure] It is a real adventure! Ask the boss for details. We customized it for us, including driver + photographer + off-road vehicle. We definitely went to places you can't go to by yourself, such as dense forests, pastures, and Shuoxi River. These are all exclusive routes that the boss led people to explore. There is no risk, but it is very exciting. The specific location is said to involve commercial secrets, so I won't disclose it.
In short, it is highly recommended. Especially for those who want to escape from the city like us, and want to get close to nature, but are not willing to discount the enjoyment.

EETHLWe stayed for 4 nights and it was a very enjoyable experience. We were upgraded to a starry night room and it was interesting to be able to view the night sky in the room.
There was night time drinks (ginger tea or warm milk) served nightly. During the day, they also offered coffee or fruits if we passed the reception area.
Room was cleaned well daily. It felt clean enough to walk about the room barefoot.
We booked this hotel as we were concerned about developing altitude sickness and noted that the hotel
had oxygen supply facilities. Thankfully, we did not require it.
We did not notice during booking that the room did not have AC and was shocked when the staff offered to bring us a standing fan as it was a hot day, after showing us our room. Luckily, it was much cooler in the night, and we could rest well by keeping the air ventilators ( so that the cool air from outside could be brought into the room) on throughout the night.
What we appreciate was that the owner was a no nonsense kind of person and was not salesy. He did not try to sell any tours nor drivers to us even when we enquired. He simply mentioned the cost and left it for us to decide.
Location was good. Hotel was accessible by car and just 5 steps from the old town. Lots of food options, convenience stalls and other amenities available.
We will definitely stay back at this hotel or the owner’s other hotel at our next visit.

GGuest UserThe best thing about this hotel is the view from the room. Unfortunately, that's as good as it gets! I really don't understand why it has such good reviews as I don't think it deserves them. Our room was really dirty - the first thing I saw when I walked in was dirt on the floor and clumps of hair in the corner by the furniture as well as hair on the floor. The most revolting thing was the bath mat on the floor - the parts of it that should have been white were a very dirty brown - it obviously hadn't been washed in many months. The ”fitted” sheets on the bed had bleach stains on them and they didn't fit the bed properly as they didn't tuck under the mattress which meant it came loose during the night. The mattress was very uncomfortable (hard and lumpy) - there was no mattress protector on the bed or protectors on the pillows. The walls are paper thin and, unfortunately, we had three very loud and excitable young women next door to us who talked and laughed very loudly until after midnight on all three nights we were there. The room wasn't serviced for the 3 nights we were there and we had to ask for extra toilet paper and water as they didn't put any in on the first day. We also had to empty our own bins and ask them to come and collect them from outside our door. The staff were friendly enough, but they seemed to spend all day on their phones lounging around in the rather untidy and dirty looking reception area. All the common areas were dirty too - the staircase hadn't been vacuumed any time recently as there was dirt on every stair. The place has a very neglected and uncared for feel about it which is a real pity as it could be lovely if some time and effort was put into making it clean and tidy and updating the furniture and bedding. It seems that the staff are very bored with their jobs and have no interest in keeping the place nice for customers.

SShuranji******* decoration style, the location is very good, close to Moonlight Square, Big Buddha Temple, and prayer wheels. The whole wooden ******* hotel has air conditioning, electric blankets, humidifiers, and oxygen machines. It is clean and hygienic, and the bedding is comfortable. It is the best for people who just arrived in Shangri-La and need to rest and adapt to the altitude. The hotel front desk is very enthusiastic, and they actively answer any questions and inquiries. They are efficient, conscientious and responsible. Thumbs up. Overall, it is a very pleasant stay.
