"Beautiful boutique hotel adjacent to the ”old town”, filled with traditional buildings, fabulous restaurants and shops. My garden view room was beautifully furnished, large and with many amenities, as well as oriental art. The king bed was so comfortable, and the extras were appreciated. Jimmy greeted us with a tea presentation with fruit and rose petal cakes. He was attentive and knowledgeable, as were all the staff. The breakfast room was filled with art and musical instruments, and had a wonderful view. The name Zen Garden is totally apt for this tranquil hotel. Jimmy also drove us in a very comfortable SUV EV to the train station and gave us information about our other destinations. Thank you for a wonderful stay Zen Garden. I was sorry to leave."

"We loved our stay here, our only complaint was the long steep slope that you have to climb every time you return to the hotel from the city. Making guests pant and pespire to get to the hotel doesn't quite fit into the hotel's luxurious image."

Hotel near Ganden Sumtseling Monastery,Shangri-La
Songtsam Retreat at Shangri-La (Xianggelila Songzan Linka Meijingge Jiudian) is a Tibetan style hotel situated just north of the Womachuka Tibetan Culture Center, the Tibet Tianzhu Exhibition Hall and Longtan Park. A 5-minute drive will take you to the Songzanlin Temple, which is the most popular Tibetan Buddhism temple in Yunnan. This Shangri-La hotel is also just 8 km (5 mi)from the Diqing Shangri-La Airport.Built and decorated in a true Tibetan Buddhist style, complete with Tibetan antiques, carpets and mandalas, the hotel offers spacious, comfortable rooms with spectacular views of the surrounding temple. Rooms are equipped with cable and satellite television, broadband and wireless Internet connection, international and domestic direct-dial phones and an in-room safe.Guests can enjoy a Western breakfast, a variety of international cuisine that has been fused with local flavors, such as pizza with Tibetan cheese and authentic Tibetan cuisine as well. The rooftop is also available for cocktail parties and cook-outs. Tibetan style meeting rooms are also available along with a conference package, which includes group luncheons and tea breaks.

"What was good 1. We received excellent butler service from 边宗, who went above and beyond her responsibilities. She supported various departments such as housekeeping, laundry, and room coordination with great efficiency and responsiveness. 2. Overall service standards were good, and staff were generally courteous & helpful. However, there was some resistance during breakfast when we requested to take away a small portion of food, which could have been handled with more flexibility. Areas for Improvement 1. Unfortunately, our original room was located directly beside an active construction site, with tractors passing frequently throughout the day. This significantly affected our experience and reflects a lapse in room assignment planning. 2. The room quality and housekeeping standards did not meet expectations, especially considering the premium pricing. The bed was overly soft and sunken, the shower gel was nearly empty at checkout, and personal items were moved by housekeeping but not returned to their original positions. 3. The laundry service lacked proper handling of delicate materials—particularly wool items—and hygiene standards need improvement. For instance, clean socks were returned in a visibly reused plastic bag, which is concerning for a property of this caliber. 4. There was a lack of detailed information provided for day activities. We joined a cycling trip but did not receive sufficient pre-trip guidance regarding terrain, attire, or necessary items to bring. Improved coordination and communication between the hotel and vendors would greatly enhance guest preparedness and safety. 5. We were disappointed to learn that guests staying at Songtsam Linka were not allowed to participate in Songtsam Green Lodge activities, contrary to what we were informed prior to our arrival. This inconsistency in information was frustrating and impacted our overall experience."

"Very cozy, there must be an oxygen-supplied room on the plateau, very cozy and restful, really felt at home. The breakfast was also delicious, the restaurant was not big but very warm, I regretted not having dinner at LUX the day before, but went to the Indigo next door, the service was not there, the taste was also average, mainly because you can see the night view."

Having already had yak hotpot at Indigo the night before and experienced the rich, protein-rich flavor of yak beef, I was a little hesitant to try their yak hotpot set menu tonight. After all, it's human nature to want a change of pace. But the rain was so heavy that evening that we decided not to go out. As it turned out, we almost missed out on a delicious meal that would have been a standout anywhere in China. The restaurant is on the fourth floor of the hotel, with a terrace facing Songzanlin Temple. If I hadn't tried their food, I'd say this is its biggest draw. The beef hotpot isn't a hotpot; it's a ready-to-eat soup pot. The broth is a gray, unassuming mess, filled with just beef and radish. Stirring it with a spoon reveals a surprising amount of beef. The pot is heated directly over charcoal, creating a unique experience. The broth boils over the bowl, and once you sip it, it's incredibly delicious. It's impossible to achieve such a concentrated flavor with just beef. I asked the waitress if they added dried beef, and she checked with the kitchen staff, and they told me they added local bacon. No wonder! The table leader ordered matsutake mushrooms, and we hesitated to order one, considering the high price of seasonal wild matsutake. But when we asked, we found out it was 68 yuan per portion—an incredible price! Last night at the restaurant, a serving of wild matsutake sashimi was 400 yuan. The matsutake sashimi was sweet, crisp, and tender, filling the mouth with a strong mushroom flavor. It was delicious even without any seasoning, and even after being hot potted, it retained its flavor remarkably well. It made us, the Shanghainese, sigh that the matsutake we sell here is truly nothing... However, don't overcook matsutake for too long, as it will become tough and lose its flavor, so we don't recommend it. The rest of the dishes were neither good nor bad. The ******* noodles were certainly delicious on their own, but they pale in comparison to the beef hot pot. The barley pancakes, dipped in the local oil-soaked green pepper rings, complemented the pancake's dryness perfectly, without being as filling as the oily version. The butter tea seemed to have been modified, but I personally preferred the original flavor, with its distinct cheese rind. The portion size was enormous; the two-person set meal should have been enough for four people, and even the three Europeans sitting next to me couldn't help but leave quite a bit of leftovers. All in all, this newly opened hotel has very high-quality food, and the owner must have invested money in promotion during the opening phase. It is recommended to give it five stars and is worth checking out.

Tucked away in the remote paradise of Shangri-La, the Banyan Tree Ringha (Xianggelila Ren'an Yuerong Zhuang) is a collection of 15 charming Tibetan farmhouses, 11 apartments and 6 spa suites. Shangri-La Diqing airport is a 45 minute drive away. Each building is a bona fide Tibetan farmhouse, carefully relocated log by log. Outfitted with luxury fittings in keeping with the surrounding environment, the overall effect is an experience that is both meticulously comfortable yet authentically Tibetan. Both Western and Chinese cuisine are served in Llamo, where signature dishes include deep-fried yak tenderloin, Yunnan roasted duck salad and Tibetan style hot and spicy noodles. Those seeking more adventurous surroundings in which to dine can opt for a Highland Romance, saddling up on horseback and being led by staff through the plains to the banks of a river for an open air dinner with a soundtrack of gurgling waters and reed pipes. Tea lovers will love the Jakhang Lobby Lounge where hundreds of varieties of the humble leaf await.Like any Banyan Tree resort, the spa is the star here. The epitome of romantic serenity, unwind with a selection of spa treatments inspired by traditional Himalayan practices and the ancient Chinese Five Elements philosophy. Guests can also take a little piece of Shangri-La home from the Gallery, a boutique showroom featuring locally produced clothes, handicrafts and art.

"What can I say? It's Banyan Tree! The name alone guarantees the quality of the accommodations and everything else. Before I got there, the manager, Grace, told me that there's no pool or gym, so I was a bit disappointed. However, as soon as I got out of the taxi, everything turned out super satisfactory. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and a white sash for good luck, which made me feel so special. Then the staff offered me hot ginger tea (* trust me! this will instantly boost your immune system and keep you warm and hydrated, which is essential in Shangri-la) and cookies. I found the bed to be a little low, but the mattress, pillows and blankets were super comfy and fluffy. I loved them. The bathtub on the lower floor amazed me and made me immediately imagine myself lying there in the Qing Dynasty. Haha. I didn't want to waste water, so I didn't use it though. It was my birthday trip, so the staff offered me special services such as decorating the bed with a Happy Birthday message and a fruit cake. I went to the spa and had dinner at the hotel. Again, wonderful staff and services. Finally, communicating with the staff via Wechat was easy and fast. Thank you Banyan Tree for making my days so memorable. Whenever I have a good experience, I always think of my family. While staying at your resort, I did that A LOT."

The Songtsam Hotel (Xianggelila Songzan Lvgu Jiudian) is a Tibetan-style hotel with a good location in Shangri-La sitting next door to Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. The quiet environment of this Tibetan hotel offers beautiful vistas of lakes, mountains, temples and Tibetan village life. This hotel houses hardwood-floored guestrooms equipped with humidifiers and independent bathrooms.Tibetan specialties are available for guests to try in the hotel restaurant including yak yoghurt for breakfast, yak meat and highland barely wine. Room service is also available.Guests traveling on business will find a meeting room at their disposal.

"The entire hotel's building has a garden, which is unique in style and tastes great! The housekeepers and service staff are very professional and enthusiastic, and feel at home. The room I booked is quite large, the decoration is very tasteful, the wooden floor feels great, and the bedside faces the lake with a wide view. The cloth shoes are very comfortable, and I like the hot night sweet tea the most. The only drawback is that the bathroom lighting is too dim, there is no makeup mirror, it is not convenient to put on makeup, and there is no full-length mirror. The humidifier does not seem to be strong enough, and the nose is too dry. As for the restaurant, I like the Western restaurant Qunika very much. The music is great, and the afternoon tea and desserts are exquisite and delicious. The decoration of the Chinese restaurant is also great. I ordered a sour soup hot pot, which tastes similar to Tom Yum Goong. The soup is delicious, but there is a little less meat. There are too many yellow throats and I can't finish it. The dipping sauce tastes average. The hotel has tickets to Songzanlin Temple and explanation activities. You can enter from the back door of the scenic area without climbing the big steps of the main entrance, which is very convenient. You can also take a panoramic view of Songzanlin Temple by walking along the lake opposite the hotel gate, and the sea of flowers by the lake is also beautiful. There is a shuttle bus from Green Valley to Linka, where you can check in at a bird shop that is easy to take photos of and a delicious bakery."

HHuangbaoxiArro Khampa, as a brand-name B&B, offers a truly exceptional experience. The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming, helping us arrange a shuttle to the airport and carrying our luggage throughout the entire journey to the inn. They were incredibly helpful. We were welcomed with a ******* Hada and warm ginger tea! We even had Yunnan cross-bridge rice noodles made especially for us, which was so touching! We also had a delicious local chicken hot pot for dinner, which was absolutely delicious! A must-try! The hotel owner learned we were going on a hike and offered us a free shuttle to the Nanbao Ranch hiking trailhead. We were so grateful! This was my first trip to Yunnan, my first time in Shangri-La. I was not only amazed by the scenery, but also deeply moved by the local people's sincerity, kindness, and warmth! Tashi Delek! Goodbye Niru! Goodbye Arro Khampa!

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the Bala Gezong scenic area, below the snow-capped mountains and Zhuoma Lakang, and you can see the Bala Village in the distance. I personally think that the view from the opposite side is not as good (because you can see the temples and snow-capped mountains above our hotel), but it will be quieter and not disturbed by group tourists. The appearance and decoration of the hotel are ******* style. The staff are very enthusiastic and help plan the tour route. There are cars to pick up and drop off the whole way, which is very worry-free. We also booked a car from the hotel to pick up and drop off the whole way in Shangri-La city. The car and the driver are reassuring👏 The hotel has a restaurant, the food is delicious and delicious, and there are often monkeys outside the restaurant window watching the guests who are dining, which is very cute We went to the hotel to eat and rest directly the night before. The next morning, we followed the car to the self-funded in-depth tour project Shambhala Pagoda (the scenery along the way is also very good), the echo wall, and returned to Bala Village for dinner (recommended the terrace on the second floor of the restaurant with a higher position in the village), and also tasted the salty lemon seven in the village coffee shop, which is great! Looking forward to coming back to Bala Gezong for an in-depth hiking tour next time

It was really cold in Shangri-La Haba Snow Mountain in November, but it was really great to sit in the camp and look at the Haba Snow Mountain opposite. It was really nice to feel the tranquility and beauty. The B&B is in American camping style. There are about 10 campsites. The furniture styles inside are designed and arranged by the owner himself. It is very warm. If there are many people coming together, you can sing by the bonfire at night. The foot of the snow mountain is so beautiful. The owner and the proprietress of the B&B are very nice. They also raised a very well-behaved and enthusiastic German Shepherd. They can guard the house at night and ask for food when eating. Hahaha, there is also a coffee shop at the foot of the mountain, which is also super good. If the weather is good, three or two people will get together in the coffee shop at night to chat about life and look at the starry sky. It is beautiful. It happened to rain when I came to Haba Snow Mountain this time, so I didn’t see Haba Snow Mountain, but camping on rainy days has a different flavor. I always have to leave some regrets and look forward to the next wonderful encounter.

GGuest UserThe room is large, neat and clean, with complete facilities and high-end. The room has oxygen supply and fruit. When we arrived at the manor yesterday evening, the ******* uncle gave us Hada, the highest courtesy, and helped with the luggage. The young lady warmly welcomed us. When checking in, she poured me a cup of roselle tea. Because it was so delicious, I couldn't help but ask the front desk to send me a pot of tea in the room after dinner. Dinner and breakfast this morning were both in the restaurant, which was great. It was the first time to eat yak beef hot pot. The portion was large and the taste was good. Two people couldn't finish it. The rice was delicious. It felt like I could eat two bowls without any dishes. The young lady's smile was so wonderful. She sent us to the car this morning and kept reminding us to drive safely.

MMei HoeWe had a very pleasant stay here. The hotel is conveniently located with a bus stop right in front. The reception staff were highly responsive and even helped carry our luggage. Check-in was quick and seamless. The hotel went above and beyond by arranging our entire itinerary during our stay, including providing private transportation. They even ensured we were taken back to the mountain base the next day. Their attention to detail and excellent service made our trip truly memorable.

UUnhappy guestsEasy reach by taxi from railway station. Service attitude was good : they changed our room immediately when it was requested. Room was large and comfortable. As with many hotels in China, somehow shower stall water splashes out of stall and wet the toilet area. Also, again a problem with many hotels in China, toilets could be kept cleaner, very often due to construction fault leading to water accumulation. Breakfast was typically a Chinese style one with many choices.

AAnonymous UserThe first time I came to Shangri-La, I didn’t choose a place near the ancient city, but next to the Napahai grassland. I choose hotels mainly based on the scenery. This hotel is really good with great scenery. Especially in the past two days, the weather in Shangri-La is good, with blue sky and white clouds, and a large grassland is very comfortable. The design of this hotel is quite interesting. The heights of the rooms are just right so that every room can enjoy the beautiful view without any obstruction. The room is well equipped, with several floors of heating. It can be seen that a lot of money was spent on installing it. Very suitable for vacation. The service provided by the housekeeper Xiao Tan was also very good. He was very considerate and polite from the moment we contacted him before our stay, and sent us the precautions. After checking in, we were given a room upgrade. We went to a restaurant he recommended that night and it was indeed very authentic. When we checked out, they also sent us to the high-speed rail station. Overall, it's a very cost-effective hotel. If you like beautiful scenery and tranquility, go there quickly. It is said that there are different scenery in each season.

AAnonymous UserWe had a great stay at the 5th Meteorite Light Year Hotel in Shangri-La and would definitely return. The hotel is in an excellent location, making it easy to explore the old town including the temples and the big prayer wheel, and offers the added convenience of free underground parking. Check-in was smooth and hassle-free using a translation app, with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are well-equipped with underfloor heating, ensuring a cozy atmosphere, and the air conditioning system includes oxygen regulation, which is particularly beneficial at high altitudes in case of AMS. However, there are a few minor downsides. The hotel does not offer a proper international breakfast, and the reception is somewhat difficult to find, especially for foreigners like us. Additionally, housekeeping did not replenish shower gel, amenities, or coffee in the room during our stay. Despite these small issues, the hotel provides outstanding value for money, and we would happily stay here again!
