Grand Mercure Shenzhen Guangming

This was my first time booking the Grand Mercure (Guangming) through Ctrip, and the package deal was incredibly affordable – less than 1,000 RMB for a stay including breakfast and dinner for two. The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a stone's throw from Fenghuangcheng Metro Station. Simply take Exit D, and after a short walk and an escalator ride, you're there in minutes. This makes commuting within the city or exploring nearby areas incredibly convenient. There are also direct buses to the airport and Hong Kong right next to the hotel, making travel for tight schedules or leisurely trips completely hassle-free, with no need to worry about planning routes. Furthermore, Wanda Plaza and Blue Whale World are within easy reach, offering a one-stop solution for shopping, dining, and movies. Staying here truly is super convenient. These advantages were precisely why I chose this hotel for my visit. My only disappointment this time was being assigned room 110x. Despite specifically requesting a room away from the elevator in my booking, I was given a room right as you step out of the lift. This clearly indicates that the hotel does not prioritize guest requests, and I strongly advise them to address this customer service oversight for future improvement. On the day of check-in, there was a queue at the front desk due to many arrivals. However, the front desk staff were exceptionally efficient, clearing the line in under 5 minutes. Their speed and professionalism are truly commendable. The room facilities were also very good. The twin beds were comfortable, and the room itself was spacious. Comprehensive amenities such as a bath cap, amenity kit, shaver, body lotion, and conditioner were all provided. The room featured a large sofa, a writing desk, and offered stunning, unobstructed views from the window. The air conditioning was also pleasantly quiet. There was a slight hiccup regarding seating arrangements at the buffet. On that particular evening, the restaurant was exceptionally busy with many diners, including a large tour group from Hong Kong, leading to a shortage of available tables. As I had pre-booked my table through Ctrip customer service the day before, I expected no issues. After a brief delay, I contacted Ctrip to help resolve the situation. Fortunately, the on-duty Ctrip customer service representative swiftly intervened and contacted the restaurant's manager, Jiajia, who promptly assisted. The misunderstanding was smoothly resolved. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Ctrip staff and the restaurant manager, Jiajia, for their professional and fair handling of the situation, which led to a satisfactory resolution. In summary, the hotel's hardware and facilities are undeniably excellent. However, there are still some areas for improvement concerning certain staff members, whose customer service attitude sometimes appears inexperienced, self-important, and in need of further training and development.

The hotel was clean and well-maintained, with a spacious room and comfortable, well-equipped facilities. The only real drawback was that although the hotel advertised a swimming pool and a fitness room, these were actually outsourced and not part of the hotel's direct facilities. Consequently, they were extremely crowded, making it impossible to swim or work out. What was most embarrassing was the small gift received upon checkout: a hand cream and a phone holder. While the hand cream was new, the phone holder was surprisingly used, second-hand, and quite dirty... Honestly, it would have been better if they hadn't given it at all, haha.

The hotel lobby staff were very helpful and enthusiastic. When they saw we had children, they immediately and proactively provided extra slippers, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, which was a really nice gesture. They also took the initiative to inform us about dining discounts. However, the corridors and elevator lobbies on the guest floors were poorly ventilated and had a noticeable smell of smoke. Additionally, when we went for breakfast at 9 AM, it was extremely crowded and we had to wait for a table. While inconvenient, this is understandable and not the hotel's fault. The hotel's location is excellent, right next to a subway station and a large shopping mall, and it offers good views. Overall, the staff's service attitude was excellent.

The room was very clean and spacious. The hotel even upgraded us to a Deluxe Twin on a high floor with a great view! There's also an outdoor swimming pool, which gets quite busy in the evenings. Breakfast was incredibly varied – definitely give it a try! Wanda Plaza is right on its doorstep. Directly opposite is Blue Whale World, and you can take a connected walkway from there straight to the Art Center, which is really convenient. We also visited the Science Museum, which is very close – just two direct subway stops away.
