Travelodge Sheffield Central

"Along with a group of 10-12 friends I stay at the Sheffield Central once or twice a year. We choose the Central because it has a friendly lounge/cafe where we can get together to meet or to eat and drink. This year there was only a building site and not even one chair to sit on whilst waiting for check in. We had no previous warning that this was happening, so could do nothing about it. I believe Travelodge should have sent everyone staying there a message explaining the lack of facilities. It is very disappointing and inconvenient. I would also like to mention the terrible toilet rolls! What is going on? The rolls were extremely poor quality and so large they could not fit on the toilet roll holder. It was difficult to handle the rolls when they were so heavy and situated behind the wc making if painful to twist round and pick up. Please Travelodge stop trying to save money this way - it is false economy! I will be staying at the St Mary's Gate Travelodge next year."

"The Psalter is a gem of an independent hotel. Very close to Eccleshall Rd and Endcliffe Park. Clean and comfortable room in great condition. Comfy beds, great shower, excellent use of space. Free secure car parking. Easy booking and check in. Great price for a triple room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Arranged a slightly later check out for us. No hassle."

"I wouldn't consider this a good stay, as I encountered several issues. First, the check-in process was a hassle since this hotel doesn't have a front desk. I spent hours calling the hotel, facing either "Line busy" or no response after a long wait. If it wasn’t for Trip.com's customer service finally connecting with the hotel, I wouldn’t have known what to do. Second, the wooden door in my room was difficult to close; it required a hard push and made a loud "bang." The glass sliding door of the shower room was also problematic, it fell out on my first pull, and I'm certainly not strong enough to break a door with just one pull. Lastly, and most frustratingly, was the toilet paper situation. It was my first time encountering a toilet without a single roll of paper. I can't imagine what I would be if I hadn't brought my own in my bag that day. On a positive note, the room was well-equipped with a fridge, oven, heater, toaster, and even an iron, which suggests the hotel might have been quite good when the things are all good a few years ago, but not now."

"We stayed overnight at Darcy Estate in Sheffield. It's a charming castle hotel, built in 1894, with wooden keyplates for access. Breakfast is à la carte. It's a bit far from the city center, but the 120 bus goes directly from the door."
