Shangri-La Hotels with Pools

I can only repeat what the other reviews are mentioning: it’s clean, got good amenities, but everything seems a bit old. We had some WiFi issues but when it was working it was good. In general, the service wasn’t that great. We arrived tired after a long drive, no help with parking the car or the luggage. Check in was the most rigorous we had, even checking all the flight and train numbers we took. Also didn’t allow us to take a rest first. We went on a hike and wanted to take some Baozi from the breakfast - forbidden (I found that in China this is usually no problem). However, I think for the price it’s fine and while it doesn’t look like it, it’s quite clean. Also the dinner was quite good, breakfast not so much.

The hotel is located 1 km from the ancient town and is a 10-15 minute drive to the train station. The room was comfortable, and the water pressure and heater worked perfectly. The Wi-Fi was very stable as well. (For foreigners, do bear in mind, if you connect to hotel wifi, you would need to connect to VPN in order to use WhatsApp, IG or Youtube) This is a 9-year-old property, so there are some flaws that can be improved, but that is understandable. My only feedback is about the F&B restaurant; they only have one all-day dining option. Breakfast was alright, with more of a local selection. I stayed for two nights. On the first day, there was staff available to help me and serve my cafe latte order. However, on the second day, I did not see any staff on standby, so I had to make my own cafe latte (I had to froth the milk), which I found awkward. I wish the staff were more well trained, but I understand it is low season and the hotel probably hired part-timers for service. The best highlight of my stay was meeting a lady named Rose He, who is part of the guest services team (i think). She made recommendations on where to go and even found us a local driver to take us around. She was extremely kind and polite. We exchanged WeChat information, and she texted me when the weather turned cold or rainy. She also helped us to arrange complimentary transportation to the train station. It felt personalized. Shangri-La, if you are reading this, I believe she deserves a token of appreciation. She is the true star and a great example of “hospitality.” Overall, we were happy with our stay. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay at this place. The view is amazing all around. Our room was beautifully designed, bathroom window facing the snow mountain. The floor heating and fire place makes the whole room warm and cozy. Their property located on a route to the big hike, makes it convenient to check out the mountains and water fall. Super friendly staff, they go above and beyond to meet our needs. Also really loved the breakfast and dinner experience. Home style cooking, eventuating was yummy on the menu. We’ll definitely come back next time we visit Yunnan. This hotel itself is an whole experience to enjoy.

It was really great. It was my first time to experience camping. It was really cold in Shangri-La Haba Snow Mountain in November, but it was really great to sit in the camp and look at the Haba Snow Mountain opposite. It was really nice to feel the tranquility and beauty. The B&B is in American camping style. There are about 10 campsites. The furniture styles inside are designed and arranged by the owner himself. It is very warm. If there are many people coming together, you can sing by the bonfire at night. The foot of the snow mountain is so beautiful. The owner and the proprietress of the B&B are very nice. They also raised a very well-behaved and enthusiastic German Shepherd. They can guard the house at night and ask for food when eating. Hahaha, there is also a coffee shop at the foot of the mountain, which is also super good. If the weather is good, three or two people will get together in the coffee shop at night to chat about life and look at the starry sky. It is beautiful. It happened to rain when I came to Haba Snow Mountain this time, so I didn’t see Haba Snow Mountain, but camping on rainy days has a different flavor. I always have to leave some regrets and look forward to the next wonderful encounter.

The hotel was beautiful in an excellent location in ShangriLa. The rooms were well appointed and had good heating. Breakfast was good, but note there is only one option available. Unfortunately, perhaps, because it was during the off season, it felt like we were staying in a closed hotel. The hotel had a beautiful bar with nobody working, a nice outdoor area with heat lamps that were never on, and the staff, while friendly, seemed a bit unprepared and surprised at our arrival. We requested help cleaning our laundry and ended up paying an extremely high 288 CNY after being quoted 100 CNY which felt dishonest. All of these problems would have been ok if we paid half of the $160 a night we paid, but at that price point in Yunnan, our expectations for service were high. Perhaps other guests will have better experiences when the property is properly staffed during the main season.

Laoyao Mountain is the most anticipated place for this trip. I like this homestay in the mountains very much. I originally booked a wooden house, but I upgraded it to a tent house with my parents and children. Thank you very much! The housekeepers are very considerate. It is quite cold in the mountains in autumn. I lit the stove, had an electric blanket to sleep at night, and the water for bathing was very hot. The food in the restaurant is also delicious and not expensive. I ordered stir-fried dishes and stew pots, and the children also liked breakfast. Although it rained for two days this time, there was a lot of fog in the mountains, and I didn’t see the golden mountain in the sun and the stars in the night sky, but the mountains with clouds are also another kind of beauty. I will definitely come again next time❤️

Stay comfortable and relaxing, with floor heating and humidifier😭 The overall environment of the B&B is also very good. It is a design B&B. The room also has skylights that can be opened and closed. The public space is also very spacious and bright. The sound insulation effect is good so you can have a good sleep at night. The housekeeper will also give you gifts after you check in. The warm osmanthus milk can be said to be on point~ Any problems were solved in a timely manner, and the travel guide was very good. I look forward to booking this hotel again when I come to Shangri-La next time when the azaleas bloom.

It was originally a parent-child trip during the National Day, but the child caught a cold, so we had to cancel it after much hesitation. However, we couldn't let go of Shangri-La, so we changed it to a staggered couple trip. But it was also because of this that we encountered a wonderful experience. The environment of this park is a bit like a curtain on the sky. It is a completely beautiful park. The mist brought by the residual heat of the hot spring in the early morning, coupled with the autumn colors of the back mountain, is like a fairyland. After soaking in the hot spring at night, I saw the biggest moon in my life. I really don't know why it is so big. Is it a comparison or are we really closer to the sky? [Facilities] This is my second time staying in a tent hotel. The first time was in Kenya. It was not that kind of short tent, but a semi-fixed tent room with two large beds, a bathroom and a shower. Although it is in a scenic area, it is comfortable. But I am not used to taking pictures of the room, so please read the hotel introduction. Of course, we must mention the hot springs. The open-air hot springs are similar to Japanese style. They are real underground hot springs with high sulfur content. Since they are open, you will not feel stuffy. I highly recommend them. [Food] This is definitely a highlight. We had two breakfasts, which were packed with breakfast. They were simple but tasted good. We had two dinners, and the taste was very good. Other local restaurants in Yunnan have heavier tastes, which we are not used to. The bosses here are from Hunan and Shanghai. We recommend stir-frying and hot pot. There is milk for bedtime in the evening. [Secret Adventure] It is a real adventure! Ask the boss for details. We customized it for us, including driver + photographer + off-road vehicle. We definitely went to places you can't go to by yourself, such as dense forests, pastures, and Shuoxi River. These are all exclusive routes that the boss led people to explore. There is no risk, but it is very exciting. The specific location is said to involve commercial secrets, so I won't disclose it. In short, it is highly recommended. Especially for those who want to escape from the city like us, and want to get close to nature, but are not willing to discount the enjoyment.
