"The hotel has a private pier right at its entrance. The pier for sightseeing boats is about a 5-10 minute walk away and has a great zip park. The hotel has two buildings; the one with the front desk doesn't have an elevator, so you'll need to carry your luggage upstairs. There are two restaurants, and dinner reservations are required. Breakfast was quite good."

"Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny"

"The hotel is located in a prime location overlooking the lake, the service was friendly and professional, the room was clean and comfortable, that shower was excellent if a little small, I ordered poached eggs which were done to perfection, the rest of the breakfast was buffet style which was OK. I would recommend this hotel for it's location, service and cleanliness. I think it needs a little tlc but our stay was very enjoyable"

"The hotel, which I chose randomly, was a pleasant surprise beyond my expectations. It was truly ”small but exquisite.” Although I booked a basic room, it wasn't large, but it was very comfortable. The towel rack was heated, and there was air conditioning, which was another unexpected bonus."

"The hotel is conveniently located 6-7 minutes from the station and lake area, making it easy to access boats and buses. The hotel's environment is pleasant, but honestly, the rooms are quite average. The carpet was a bit dirty, and there were multiple stains on the sofa. The bathroom only had a small bottle of shampoo, no shower gel, but there was a small bar of soap. However, the breakfast included with the room was surprisingly good. The à la carte main courses were very English and definitely worth praising. Just for the breakfast alone, I would recommend this hotel."

"The room is clean and tidy, the bath is convenient, you can cook, the service is thoughtful, and the scenery is superb. It takes 15 minutes to walk up from the gas station under the mountain, and the road is beautiful. There are many rural roads to continue to move forward, the scenery is getting more and more beautiful, passing through several small villages, it is convenient to eat and drink. It is easier to get motion sickness by taking a nearby bus, and the time is more than 1 hour."

"The hotel is located in the most bustling town in the Lake District, with plenty of shops and businesses. It's about a 5-6 minute walk to the lakeside pier. I booked a king room and a quad room. The quad room was in the building with the spa, and there was a bar downstairs. It felt a bit cramped for four people, and the bathroom was extremely small, plus there was only one. The king room in the main building where you check in was quite good. We stayed for two nights, and the breakfast was excellent with a good variety of fruits, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely time."
