The Wude Di Cultural Inn, formerly a private residence dating back over 200 years, was built during the Xianfeng and Guangxu periods of the Qing Dynasty. Its original owner, Lei Xiehe, the late Qing Dynasty manager of the Tongheqing Bank, donated his title of Wude Zuoqiwei, earning him the plaque ”Wude Di.” This courtyard is considered a scenic spot within the ancient city. The entire courtyard is arranged in a symmetrical, rectangular shape, encompassing four main courtyards, a backyard, and a kitchen yard. The courtyards are separated by gates and courtyard rooms, with the buildings rising as they go further back. At the end is a young lady's embroidery pavilion, overlooking the entire courtyard. The owner has meticulously preserved the original charm of the house. Walking through the gates, one feels as if one is witnessing stories of the past. As night falls and red lanterns hang high, the house becomes a focal point of both history and modernity. Sitting at a long table fashioned from horse stable stones, sipping a few glasses of wine, one feels a bit like stepping back in time.
