GGuest UserOur stay at Shukubo Gokui was incredible. So much history and spirit, and although we spoke very little Japanese we were greeted warmly by the family. Every breakfast and dinner served was so thoughtfully presented and delicious. The onsite bath is very clean and almost like a private onsen. The room was warm and comfortable, and it was magical to be in the space with the winter snow piling outside. The location cannot be any better, very near the beautiful Chusha Shrine, on the path to the other shrines in Togakushi, within walking distance to the town Onsen and ski resort, and probably one of the closest lodgings to the bus stop. The original structure is from 1815 with thoughtful updates to make the space comfortable and warm. That foreigners and visitors are allowed to stay at Shokubo Gokui that has been so thoughtfully cared for by the family for years is incredibly special, an experience we will remember for a long time. I hope we can return again.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located about 10-15mins walk from Nagano station and is easily navigated using google map. Hotel provide luggage forwarding service and luggage deposit after checkout. Amenities are not provided in the room but upon check in, hotel staff will inform you to pick what you need from the area at the hotel lobby. It can also be picked up at anytime of the day. The lobby also have a coffee machine serving hot chocolate and coffee throughout the day. Pastry are provided at certain hour as well. One time free Sake tasting per guest where you need to pick up special coin from the hotel staff. Rooms are clean and quite spacious.

FFAN_CFirst off, the location is incredibly convenient. It's quite close to the Zenkoji Exit of JR Nagano Station. From there, if you're heading to Togakushi, you can buy bus tickets at a small shop located at Platform 7 in front of JR Nagano Station. For Zenkoji Temple, you can either walk or take a bus from Platform 1. A taxi to Zenkoji would cost between 1300-2000 yen. As for the hotel facilities, they're perfect, except for the rooms being a bit small. The front desk on the first floor offers complimentary coffee and juice, and the coffee beans are excellent. From 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, they serve free soy sauce ramen. The rooftop onsen is wonderfully relaxing, and they even provide ice cream and Yakult. There's a 7-Eleven right next to the hotel. Plus, the hotel doesn't look old at all. Highly recommend for a stay in Nagano.

BBarz ChenI was very lucky to book the last room on Saturday. Although the evaluation on the trip was not high, the evaluation on Google map was excellent and it was better than expected. I had the opportunity to come to Huyin and stay again. Thank you for everyone received by the hotel. It made me have a very pleasant journey.

GGuest UserFirst of all, the two staff at the check-in counter showed a very strong sense of job burnout on their faces, and the whole check-in process was not very pleasant. However, the next morning during check-out, the ladies at the counter were very professional and everything felt fine.
After entering the room, I found it to be very stuffy and hot. When I turned on the air conditioning, it was only heating. Since the weather outside was quite cool, I understand that the system is centrally controlled and set to heating. I then tried opening the window, but it could only be opened a small amount. For some reason, no fresh air was coming in, and the room still felt very stuffy.
Later, I went down to the counter (again, the same two male staff from check-in) to ask if the air conditioning could be switched to cooling, but my request was rejected. I then asked if it was possible to borrow a fan, and they refused again with a very impatient attitude.
Overall, the stay was not a very good experience. The room itself was actually fine, but it was too stuffy. I hope this review can be helpful to others.

EEdwardTThe hotel is right next to Nagano Station, and while it's about a 5-7 minute walk, it's not an issue. There's a convenience store directly opposite the hotel, which is essential for nightly trips to the onsen. Plus, they offer complimentary ice cream, so after a bath, enjoying some ice cream recharges you every night. It's an older hotel; you can tell its design would have been quite grand in the 90s. The room lighting is a bit dim, but the soundproofing is excellent.

GGuest UserIt's a cozy and lovely little hostel. The location is super convenient, just a short walk from Nagano Station. It feels like an old house, but it's been decorated very cutely and comfortably. It's perfect for solo travelers or those looking to transfer goods. The only downside is that the bathroom is a bit cold.

WWei LeThis place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night.
Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

AAnonymous UserVery good location, just opposite the train station. Reception is on level 2, but staff is helpful to help carry luggages to and fro ground floor.
Room is small and toilet is squeezy, but still decent for a short stay. There is a Shampoo Bar at the reception to pick up stoiletries.
Breakfast is good, the complimentary soba noodles on selected weekday nights is also great. Nice view from the 10th floor, and also free space for customers to chill during the day.
Water was not provided complimentary to customers but instead was earned through a game.
