The hotel is located on a slope behind Arima Onsen street. The actual distance isn't far, probably just over 800 meters if you take a leisurely walk through the hot spring town. While there are many hotels on this slope, carrying luggage uphill can be a bit tiring. So, I'd recommend contacting the hotel in advance (or via Ctrip) for their pickup service. A hotel shuttle will quickly pick you up from Arima Onsen Station, and the ride takes only about five minutes.
The hotel is situated by the Rokko River. The rooms have been renovated and are quite clean. There's a Japanese-Korean izakaya on the first floor, open from 5 PM to 11 PM. This is very convenient, especially considering that many restaurants in the hot spring town tend to close early.
I must especially praise their hot springs! They offer both 'Gold' (Kinsen) and 'Silver' (Ginsen) springs. Guests are generally well-spaced out, so there's often no one else around when you're bathing – many times, I had the springs entirely to myself. The springs are absolutely fantastic, making it completely unnecessary to pay to visit the 'Gold Spring' in the main hot spring town, as the spring sources are reportedly the same.
Arima Onsen street isn't very large; you can comfortably explore the entire area in about an hour. If you have some spare time, you could also go for a hike in the mountains behind. All in all, the hot springs are the definite highlight here.

This was our first stay, and we were greeted immediately upon arrival and received kind support throughout our stay, making us feel at ease. We enjoyed making marshmallow sandwiches over a campfire, riding on the swings, and watching the adorable sheep roaming freely on the grounds. Just outside the front door, we could see the sheep, and the children enjoyed feeding and petting them, giving them experiences they wouldn't normally have. The air conditioning in the guest rooms was comfortable, allowing us to relax in a warm space, enjoy the view outside, and sip wine. We would definitely like to stay again. Next time, I'd like to try the hot tub.

The hotel is located in a somewhat remote area on a mountain, but they offer a shuttle service. We called the hotel from the visitor center, and a car arrived within minutes. Since we had stayed at another onsen hotel the previous night with luggage storage, we asked the driver if he could take us to collect our luggage before checking into Arima Princess Hotel. He readily agreed. The service was excellent. The hotel has indoor red bath (lighter) and silver bath, but unfortunately, there's no open-air bath. They also took us to the station when we left.

One of the brightest experiences of our journey is 2 days in Arima Onsen.
Our stay in the first minutes has painted our room: big, light and cozy.
The staff remembered especially: not just polite, but caring, I forgot my jacket in the cafe and a man standing at the stop came to give it to me. Thank you very much!
The hotel has its own cafe, where you can buy bakes and drink coffee, with a stunning terrace.
In the room there are all necessary: a recreation area, big windows, we were offered kimono and baskets so we could go in them to the onsen.
It was magnificent!
The hotel has no sources, but they are literally 30 seconds on foot, or the biggest public onsen in 7 minutes on foot (but with the unusual to go to the mountain in tabi sandals is a little uncomfortable but interesting). Hotly recommend, ideally from 2 nights to enjoy the full program and slow down the journey a little bit and think about life :)

The hotel is quite big. It takes a big slope to get there from the station. It's too hard to pull the luggage. I wanted to call to pick up, but the store number provided by Ctrip was one digit less, so I couldn't get through. It happened that a ********* family called the station pick-up number and picked us up together.
The hotel is good, the service staff is very enthusiastic, the mountain view outside the window is beautiful, and there is no one in the hot spring at night, so you can enjoy the private bath treatment.
You can also open a private bath for free.
Because Ctrip's phone number is wrong, I can't contact the hotel, and I didn't book dinner in advance. When I checked in, the dinner was fully booked. I wanted to find food in the town, but the better restaurants were also fully booked. Be sure to book dinner in advance during the peak tourist season.

Hotel service was good. Dinner and breakfast was provided as part of the stay. Food was good for the stay since there are not much options for food at Arima. Most shops are closed by afternoon. Though the hotel is old but it’s renovated (except for the old wooden cupboard) which made the stay more pleasant. Onsen is indoor and small so will need to go at hours with lesser people.
Public lodging facility, located outside of the center of Arima Onsen hot spring. Its selling point is the reasonable room rate.
TTomoko272025.07.10
I went with my mother, 74, my only daughter, 10, and I. The room is large like a suite room, but it was a little subtle because it was the size of the 3 rooms that I forcibly attached, but I thought it was a stone's throw because there was only a vacancy from this site. The bath was good! Isn't it basically a high inn? It was a suite so I stayed over 100,000 yen!

Great place, I was very pleased! I'd love to come back again.
Location: The bus to Arima stops at the bridge, from there it's a 10-15 minute uphill climb, three flights of stairs. It's inconvenient if you have large suitcases; it's best to leave them somewhere. The hotel has a very atmospheric atmosphere, and the view from the veranda is stunning.
Amenities: They give one pass to the onsen (golden onsen), it's 5 minutes away, and it's fantastic (don't forget to bring masks and lotions; I didn't see any in the onsen itself). I went there in my hotel yukata, although I haven't seen anyone like it anywhere else 😁
The hotel itself is clean, has all the necessary amenities, and the futon is super soft – I slept wonderfully.
The building and furniture are not new, but for a ryokan of this type, that's understandable.
Service: The hostess speaks Japanese and Chinese; her English isn't great, but it's perfectly adequate for basic needs.
I didn't bring any food, I stayed for one night in a room (8) on the ground floor - it was spacious, with a view from the window of a fence with ivy, but this didn't spoil the atmosphere, as the room was quite sunny.

Facilities: The hotel is well-equipped with a kitchen, projector, and shower. There's a hammock and a sofa bed (I noticed there were two hammocks, so you can sleep on both).
Environment: Because it's located in the mountains, bugs are unavoidable. The hotel provides insect repellent, but be prepared. The view is stunning; the observation deck is less than a five-minute walk away, allowing you to enjoy Kobe's nightscape.
Service: Excellent. I had heavy luggage, so I called the front desk and they came to take it for me. The rest of the time, check-in was contactless.

Amazing
HHiro771024This hotel is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from Motomachi Station on the JR line in central Kobe. They even have a natural hot spring bath, free ice cream, Yakult, and ramen for a late-night snack! However, because it's so popular and there are a lot of guests, you often have to queue for breakfast. On a few days, if we went a bit later, there were no seats left, and we missed out on breakfast entirely.
ZZhaocaixiaoluThe room was quite spacious. I recommend booking the hot springs as early as possible upon arrival. You can only book two different pools per day, and there are a total of five private hot springs plus one public one available. I've tried 'Cat's Love,' 'Seven-Segment Flower,' 'Boat's Love,' and 'Flower's [something],' but the 'Boat' one was a bit too small, even though the staff said it and 'Cat's Love' are quite popular.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is excellent, making it super convenient to get anywhere, and there are plenty of food options nearby. Right across the street from the hotel is a Don Quijote. The hotel itself offers free tea and coffee during the day, and even ice cream in the evening. Most importantly, the shower is a proper walk-in shower, which is much more comfortable than the typical shower-over-bathtub setup you find in most Japanese hotels.
ちちなみStaying in Kobe for a night, I booked this hotel after reading reviews that it's close to Sannomiya Station and relatively new. It was super convenient coming from Kansai Airport; I took the airport bus directly to the Sannomiya bus terminal, and after getting off, it was less than a 10-minute walk with Google Maps. Getting to JR Sannomiya Station from the hotel takes a maximum of 5 minutes, and the Hanshin Line is less than 10 minutes away – both are very close! There are plenty of dining options downstairs, and a 7-Eleven right next door. If you walk out the main hotel entrance and turn left, there's a cute dessert shop called Dorsia about five minutes away. Plus, it's not far from the Sannomiya shopping district, so you can easily walk there. I forgot to take pictures of the room, but in a double room, there was no problem opening a 26-inch suitcase.
GGuest UserThis was my second stay at the Hotel Okura Kobe, and the service was just as attentive and thoughtful as I remembered. The front desk kindly upgraded me to a higher floor room, which was spacious, comfortable, and offered fantastic views. The breakfast had a wide variety of options and was consistently good. Overall, a perfect experience – I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time!
AAnonymous UserNot sure what has happened to Japan standard in the past couple of years but had called the hotel to confirm that linens are scent free (standard in Japan before) and was told yes. Unfortunately they are not, this new laundry detergent that is slowly spreading throughout Japan is absolutely horrible causing all sorts of allergic reactions (not only to me.) I start having rashes, compromised breathing, and inflammation issues. If it’s the same detergent used back in America, then it might be eco-friendly, but definitely not human friendly. I truly hope that Japan goes back to the way it was before the introduction of some western products filled with harmful chemicals to humans. It is not because you don’t react to it that it is not harming your body, it’s only a question of time and when it does, you won’t know why and there is no turning back. Take it from an Asian American born who was the biggest fan of American marketed products. We do have good products like ECOLAB, which is both, sustainable for the environment without compromising human health. Maybe laundry company should look into that company or simply return to Japanese products before. Good thing thing their pyjama are still scent free so I had to wrap the bed and cover with their pyjama to get through the night.
GGuest UserHad a great stay here! The location is perfect—super close to Sannomiya Station, which made getting around a breeze. The room was nice and spacious, really comfortable. The area is safe and quiet at night, so I could actually get a good night's sleep, which is so important when traveling. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserIt's a bit of a walk from the station. The famous internet-famous church cafe is just a three-minute walk behind it. There's a Matsuya downstairs, perfect for breakfast. I stayed in a double room by myself and had plenty of space to open my suitcase. All the essential amenities were there, and the lighting was adjustable. I thought the service was great; the front desk always greeted me when I came and went.
JJugenshimaosuiAlthough this is an older five-star hotel, the lobby is spacious and features the traditional five-star amenities, which are well-maintained and appear very clean. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the Shinkansen line. It was raining on the day we arrived, but there's a covered walkway directly from the Shinkansen to the hotel, so we didn't get wet, which was very handy. Check-in was quick, and the staff were friendly. They even informed us about ongoing exterior renovations, mentioning that workers might be passing by at certain times. It turned out to be work on an annex, quite far from our room, but I appreciated the heads-up. We booked a twin-bedded city view room, which was very large and even had a capsule coffee machine, though I couldn't use it as I don't drink coffee. The staff cleaned our room thoroughly every day. For breakfast, you can go to the buffet restaurant on the 4th floor, which offers a good variety of Japanese and Western dishes. The staff there were also very attentive, reminding guests around 10:00 AM that the last seating was at 10:30 AM. Alternatively, you can opt for a set menu on the 5th floor. This is served in a restaurant where the staff wear kimonos and are equally friendly. We had three breakfasts in total and chose the set menu one day; it was simple but tasty. Right next to the hotel is the Herb Garden, which is easily accessible by cable car. A short walk down from there, there's a glass house resembling an indoor rainforest. We enjoyed afternoon tea in a café inside while listening to a piano and violin performance. The hotel is just one subway stop from Sannomiya. It's also easy to walk to the Kitano-cho (Ijinkan Street) area and then to Sannomiya. My only minor complaint was that our room was quite close to the elevator; I would have preferred a room further away. The hotel also offers a direct bus service to Kansai Airport, but it only runs twice a day, at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM. Since we missed the 11:00 AM bus, we took the subway one stop to the Sannomiya Bus Terminal, which is diagonally opposite Hankyu, where buses run every 20 minutes – also quite convenient.
GGuest UserLocation is great as it is practically adjacent to the Sannomiya train station. However, there is a major scale construction going on now, right exactly in front of the hotel and if you are not observant, it could easily slip your sight. Also note there are two Tokyu Rei hotels nearby each other and if you are taking a taxi from Shin Kobe station, remember to clearly specify the destination is Sannomiya Tokyu Rei and not the nearby one in Moto Machi which the driver brought us to.
As is typical of most hotels in Japan, even though we had a twin room, space was rather limited and we barely had enough to even open up a medium size luggage bag let alone two.
A big plus point was food options were everywhere and all within walking distance, with many eateries just directly behind the hotel and more as you walk down the main road leading to a row of various restaurants and various eateries for all budgets.
Check-in was of the touch machine kind which is typical of Japan now and staff were at hand to help and guide along.
They were also especially helpful providing useful information as to where to go for a good meal and how to get to other places of interests.
Given the proximity to train station, the food options around and the price we paid, Kobe Sannomiya Tokyu Rei is a good choice for a stay in Kobe.
