Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!

We loved this experience! After travelling from Tokyo that morning and all around Hakone, we were wrecked by the time we got to the accommodation. The hosts offer free collection from the bottom of the cable car. We text them saying we would be arriving in 10 minutes and they had someone waiting for us. The check in was smooth and the hosts are very accommodating, have good English and will do anything they can to help you. We had a room with a Mt. Fuji view who was on show for a few hours. They then brought us in a shuttle to a nearby restaurant and the restaurant brought us back to the accommodation. The accom was very big for the two of us and we found the beds really comfy. We also got private onsen for 30 mins (available between 10-11pm) for only 2,000 yen. In the morning, they dropped us back (again free) to our bus stop. We loved this whole experience and calm back feeling relaxed and revived. Couldn’t recommend more!

This hotel offers great value for money. It's my second time in Hakone, and compared to the hotels by Lake Ashi, this one feels much newer. The rooms are quite spacious for Japan, with a 1.5-meter bed and a 1.1-meter bed side-by-side. The toilet is separate from the shower, which is a wet/dry design. The view from the window is also lovely. The hot springs are on the sixth floor, featuring both outdoor mountain-view onsens and indoor ones. The outdoor area also has a single and a double private pool, which is a nice touch. Overall, it's pretty good. The breakfast and dinner are more Japanese style, with ramen, miso soup, sashimi, and sweet shrimp. The mattress in the room was really comfortable. All in all, a great stay. Right opposite the hotel is the Okada Museum of Art, which I highly recommend visiting, especially as a Chinese person. The first floor of the five-story museum is dedicated to Chinese porcelain from various dynasties, with the oldest being a green-glazed阁楼 (pavilion) from the 2nd-3rd century BC (Former Han Dynasty), standing about a meter tall. I won't say too much more, as photography of the artifacts is not allowed.

It is approximately a 5-minute drive from the nearest Kowakudani Station, with convenient access to tourist attractions such as the Yunesan hot spring theme park, Owakudani, and Lake Ashi. Enjoy the seasonal beauty of nature while savoring exquisite Japanese cuisine made from local seasonal ingredients, and experience a peaceful and enjoyable time.

The room size was pretty good, offering great value for money considering it's in the mountains and part of a well-known chain. We could even access the hot spring park at the sister hotel across the way, though we didn't go in since we weren't with kids. The complimentary dinner was a set menu, not the yakiniku buffet we initially thought, but with an extra dish, it was pretty much enough for two. There's also a big Family Mart convenience store at the sister hotel, perfect for stocking up on supplies. In the evening, it was lovely to relax in our hotel's hot spring. Even though it's a public bath, it's small, cozy, and has outdoor pools. The hotel is conveniently located right by Kowakien Station and Horaiden. I have to say, Japanese gardens are incredibly small and refined; every spot is meticulously kept and elegant. My only regret was slipping on a steep slope after getting off the bus. I scraped my skin a bit before my hot spring soak, which definitely became a memorable part of the trip.

I stumbled upon Odakyu Hotel de Yama through a Hakone travel guide on Xiaohongshu. After planning my Hakone itinerary, I decided to book a two-day, one-night stay with breakfast and dinner. The hotel itself is a resort destination. My stay coincided with the Emperor's birthday three-day weekend in Japan. By evening, I noticed all the room keys were out (picture 6), indicating a high occupancy rate. I barely encountered any fellow Chinese travelers, just one ********* couple; most other guests were Japanese on vacation or Caucasians. Most of the hotel staff's English was quite basic. I'd recommend using a translator if you're not fluent in Japanese. For instance, the staff member asked me about 'dinnertime' five times before I understood what they were saying. (⦁֊⦁꧞) The two meals included in the package require you to reserve your dinner times. One evening, I had a reservation for 7:45 PM, but I still had to wait. I was a bit annoyed, wondering why I had to wait when I had a reservation. I ended up waiting an extra 10 minutes, which is why I can't give a full five-star rating. Everything else was excellent. There's an ice machine and a washing machine on the first floor. The onsen (hot spring) layout was also very well-designed. While it's not sourced directly from Owakudani, it uses water from Lake Ashi, leaving your skin feeling smooth after a soak. The open-air bath even has a cherry tree—I can only imagine how beautiful Hakone would be during cherry blossom season! Oh, one more thing to complain about: there's no hairdryer in the room. As someone with bangs, this was inconvenient. Every morning after putting on makeup, I had to go to the large public bath to dry my bangs. The hairdryers there are Refa Pro, which are a bit heavy. The toiletries in the public bath are DHC, but the ones in the bedroom are from the French sea salt series, which are also very good. Other than that, there's really nothing else to complain about. (⌯'ㅅ'⌯) Honestly, I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Hakone. There's a shuttle bus to Moto-Hakone Port Bus Stop 6 every 20 minutes. There's also an Odakyu bus that departs from the hotel entrance at 12:00 PM, heading to Shinjuku. Hotel de Yama is the first stop, but it takes at least 3 hours to get to Shinjuku after making all the rounds.

This hotel is nestled right on Lake Ashi, and after checking in, we took a stroll through the hotel gardens and were greeted by another magnificent view of Mount Fuji. The scenery is absolutely stunning. The hot springs were also incredibly relaxing. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. It was very convenient to pre-book the hotel's shuttle bus.

Expensive, but if you're looking for a luxurious hot springs stay, it's worth it. Includes entrance to the nearby Yunessun, which is a quick walk down the street. Bus stop immediately across the road helps with reaching other parts of Hakone easily. I got one without the in room onsen, but there is a public one inside the hotel itself and the room had a balcony with a gorgeous view of the mountain instead. Very authentic hot springs experience

gran terrace Le Lien Hakone is perfect for guests who want to discover the charms of their trip. Our hotel offers a comfortable stay, whether for business or leisure. The hotel is conveniently located about 3km away from Carinomori station. Nearby are many tourist attractions in Hakone, such as the Carving Mori Art Museum, Hakone Kokuen Onsen, Oyongu, and Lake Ashinochi. For those with time to spare, Hakone Rolls (trams, cable cars, and some recreational facilities are available) can be purchased at the ticket office of Hayayama Station. Among the hotels in Hakone, our hotel is highly rated. ● About extra meals on the day The museum is committed to the production of cuisine, providing guests with fresh ingredients as the principle. Breakfast additions can be communicated with the staff at check-in, Additional dinner needs to be confirmed by contacting the hotel 2-3 days in advance.

The ********* lady who was at the counter tried to help us as best as could. I felt the service was decent and I enjoyed my time. Unfortunate that the wind stopped some of the attractions. I feel that the location might not be ideal and the tram stops working after 7 so need to keep that in mind. But you can see the entire valley at night.

A nice but dated hotel So this is a recommendation. This hotel sits about mid way on the mountain and a ten minute walk down the road will put you at the rope way to Owadaunuki and the Aishi Cruise Boat. The Room was large and clean, the fuji view is a scam, the trees are way to high as you see from my pictures so dont pay extra for that. There are four private onsens which was a nice bonus you just have to bear in mind that this is an older hotel but pleasant and calm. One side note is dinner is not bookable for the day you arrive and nothing in the immediate area is open after 16:00 So if your arriving late, make sure your buy some drinks and food before your train otherwise you will be surviving the night on some overpriced popcorn and bottled water like me. Lastly there is a bus stop just across the road which goes to Odawara station for about 1300 yen and was very reliable.

This is a very nice hot spring resort hotel. Finding it at this price during the New Year period is great value. The hotel is quite close to Carved Forest Station, or you can go to Gora; there's a free shuttle bus. If you're taking public transport, you can get off at Tenyu Station. The rooms are large, with balconies, a reasonable layout, separate wet and dry areas, and heating. The hotel itself has a hot spring. If you want to dine at the hotel, you need to make a reservation in advance. There are also restaurants nearby; I arrived quite late and had some yakiniku (grilled meat) nearby.

11360173****Ryori-yaku (restaurant name), the hot springs in Hakone are unparalleled, but the food here really deserves mention. I've been to Ryori-yaku in Izu before, and compared to that, this one probably suits my taste better. It's not as sweet, so the food is refreshing and not cloying. The only downside is that the rooms are really small—every inch of space is precious!

TTim NazarovWe were looking for onsen with private bath on the balcony and probably hit the sweet spot. Unfortunately we had only 1 night stay, but it was fantastic. Onsen is located at the top station Gora, where you can get from Odawara. That’s around 2 hours from Tokyo all together, around 3 hours from Kyoto. Last 2 sections of the way are going through a picturesque steep railway. Views are great! Be sure to rush to the front or back seats (doesn’t matter which) to secure a spot for nice photographs. Private bath is fantastic, rooms are clean and spacious with a touch of ryokan style (tatami etc). That’s a perfect place to sit and relax doesn’t matter it’s sunshine or pooring rain outside. The food was fantastic (according to my wife), however the options are limited if you’re not eating fish or sea products due to allergy or other reasons. For Karaku team - I would suggest adding a signature wagyu set for those who would like something else. Selection of wine and alcohol drinks is superb. Free snacks and coffee are available till 8 p.m. as well with a view terrace. For those who like some regular conbini stuff - Lawson is around 10 mins walk with Miyazaki style trains passing by👌🏻 All in all, we wish we had stayed at least 2 nights as there are lots of activities around.  Thanks to Karaku staff for a warm welcome and tailored experience!

GGuest UserThis hotel is quite unique! Because it's built on a hillside, its first floor connects to the fifth floor of a neighboring shopping mall, while its main lobby is on its own fifth floor. The higher floors offer even better views. The lobby entrance faces directly onto the mountains, providing stunning scenery, and the foot bath by the entrance is wonderfully therapeutic. Both large onsen pools have outdoor sections with fantastic views. They are fully equipped with jacuzzis, saunas, cold plunge pools, and massage areas, making for a truly satisfying hot spring experience! Both breakfast and dinner are buffet-style and taste excellent. Additionally, the hotel offers a wide range of complimentary activities. I highly recommend the Mori no Yu onsen facility that partners with the hotel; it has numerous hot springs with diverse styles, and the bathing experience there is even better than at the hotel itself. This was an absolutely perfect onsen experience and well worth it.

AANASTASIIA_BERDNIKOVAThis hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

GGuest UserThis was the best hotel I stayed at during my Chinese New Year trip to Japan, though it was also the most expensive. The hotel is right by the Hakone-Yumoto station exit, just across the little red bridge, which is incredibly convenient for families with luggage or young children. The hotel itself is comparable to a 4- to 5-star hotel in China. Both the service and facilities were excellent. They offer both private and public onsen baths. The private bath costs 2000 yen for 45 minutes, while the public one is free. We opted for the private bath. We arrived at the hotel at noon, dropped off our luggage, booked our private bath slot, and then went out to explore. The hotel even separates luggage storage for check-in and check-out, which is a nice touch. In the afternoon, you can explore the street in front of Hakone-Yumoto station, check out transportation options for the next day, and enjoy some local food. Of course, if you're short on time, you can also just drop your bags and hop on a train to start your journey. The room was also very spacious. We booked a triple room, and it was the biggest room I've stayed in during all my trips to Japan over the past few years. I must particularly mention that on our first afternoon, someone in our group was feeling unwell with a headache and vomiting. We approached the front desk before 2 PM, hoping to check in early and let them rest. The front desk staff were incredibly enthusiastic and processed our early check-in immediately. Another thing that happened was I realized I'd lost my wireless Bluetooth earphones after returning to Tokyo, and I suspected they might have been left at the hotel. Since I didn't have a phone number, I contacted the hotel via email. The very next day, hotel customer service replied. They not only looked for them in our room but also searched in the hotel's public areas. Although they weren't found, I was still very satisfied with the service of the Japanese hotel staff. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next trip to Hakone. Also, a tip for everyone: this area perfectly combines liveliness and tranquility. Other places, in my opinion, are either too far (requiring long train rides) or too desolate.

GGuest UserYama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good) The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned. The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed. Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage. Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.

GGuest UserI spent a wonderful night here during New Year's Eve. The waiter barely understands people and foreign languages, but he is friendly and good at communication. I booked a public bathroom first, but then I changed it to a private bath when there was room. My satisfaction improved a lot! The hotel is very close to Hakoyō-Yumoto Station, and the taxi cost was less than 1,000 yen. Later, we couldn't get a taxi and it was very comfortable for us to walk to the station for 15 minutes with our children🏳️🌈

EElle’s travelsOur experience staying in Hakone was perfect! We stayed at the Tensein in Hakone-Yumoto, an easy location to take the bus, car or train to some popular tourist attractions in the area. The check in itself was rather slow but the staff do their best to speak good English and discuss every detail about your stay with you. The room had everything we needed, the shampoo and conditioners provided was wonderful and there was a variety of products to use. On check in, the private onsen was given at 50% discount at 1,100 Japanese yen per use, we got 2 vouchers so used it 2 times (as we have tattoos we could not go into the public onsen). On check in you have to collect your towel and your choice of Yukata (traditional Japanese robe) which you’re welcomed and encouraged to wear around the hotel and gardens. The hotel is strictly no shoes, so upon arrival you leave your shoes in a locked box and keep the key. If you wish to walk around the beautiful gardens, there are slider type shoes available to slip on, as well as umbrellas to use if it’s raining. Outside they have a onsen for your feet to enjoy with a drink. All of the food and drink (apart from breakfast which was included) was put on our bill at the end. There was a wide selection of drinks, nibbles and food available for dinner and lunches at the dining room and there was a large buffet dining room for buffet breakfast and dinner (if you booked it). The hotel is just a short 10 minute walk to the town and 15 minute walk to the Hakone-Yumoto station. Visiting Mt Fuji is easy, with a bus ‘H’ running from stand 2 opposite the Hakone -Yumoto station. Get off at ‘Motohakone’. From there, you can take another bus and a train to get you to another town ‘Gora’ and surrounding attractions to enjoy.

GGuest UserTake the Shinkansen from Osaka to Odawara, then transfer to the tram to Hakone Yumoto, and then take a bus to Gora. Two people dragged their suitcases and walked uphill for 15 minutes. They were exhausted. When they arrived at the hotel, they found that they could wait for the train in Gora, and it only took 5 minutes to walk. The hotel facilities are not new, and there are not many guests, mostly Japanese tourists. The hot spring is relatively small, and the water temperature is very high. You have to come out to breathe after soaking for a while. I experienced the private bath and open-air hot spring, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. The food is OK, worthy of the price.
