Traveling with kids means we always look for hotels in the city center with a kids' club. The Sofitel initially looked like a great option, but when we arrived, we found out the kids' club advertised on their website no longer exists. This was very disappointing, especially since finding a place with children's facilities is crucial on a rainy day. I asked the concierge, and their response was completely unprofessional – 'Oh, it seems it disappeared a few months ago' – as if they weren't talking about their own workplace. They were very unclear. When I pressed for its exact location, they said it used to be next to the restaurant. I went to check, and indeed, there was nothing there. I suggest they update their information to avoid disappointing other parents.
I was also unhappy with the room's cleanliness. As soon as we entered, my child went straight to the LEGO table, and I immediately spotted a clump of hair, which made me feel quite uncomfortable. After closing the middle door of the bathroom, there was quite a lot of trash on the floor. This is a family room, so there will definitely be children – at the very least, it should be thoroughly cleaned. I recommend the hotel improve its housekeeping standards.
Regarding the hotel's location, it's quite convenient. Getting to and from Nanjing Station requires a taxi as the subway isn't practical, but it's relatively central. The vicinity includes Pioneer Bookstore and Yihe Road, plus a Starbucks and McDonald's nearby. While there aren't many restaurants in the immediate area, food delivery is an option.
Hotel breakfast: I was quite satisfied with the breakfast selection, but the staff weren't particularly enthusiastic. On the first day, they were proactive in helping us find a table, providing a high chair, and baby cutlery. On the second day, I waited a long time and eventually had to find a server to get baby cutlery, and we had to get the high chair ourselves. In other hotel restaurants I've visited, there's always at least one or two servers observing guests to see if they need anything, but there was none of that here. The service definitely needs improvement.

The room was very spacious. Although the last renovation was quite some time ago, it's still well-maintained and very clean. Some of the facilities are a bit old but complete, and the thoughtful little details are great. The service attitude was also very good. One suggestion: it might be time to replace the electric kettle, as there's a thick layer of white limescale around the spout.

This is an older, traditional five-star hotel. The decor and facilities are quite dated, and the rooms aren't very spacious. In terms of comfort, it might even fall short of newer business hotels like Atour. However, its major advantage is its excellent location and convenient transportation, essentially being a subway-connected hotel (less than 20 meters away). If your goal is to be as close as possible to Xuanwu Lake Scenic Area, then this is an outstanding choice. Breakfast is served in the revolving restaurant on the top floor, offering expansive views, and the variety and quality are fitting for a five-star hotel.

The Celebrity City Hotel Nanjing (Nanjing Chengshi Mingren Jiudian) is conveniently located near local attractions such as Gulou Square, Hunan Pedestrian Street and Shiziqiao Food Street as well as being a short drive from Nanjing Railway Station. The Line 1 Gulou Metro Station just a few blocks away connects guests to the rest of the city. All business rooms have computers with free Internet access, and there are also rooms for special-needs guests as well as a non-smoking floor.A conference room and business facilities are available for those traveling on business in Nanjing.
GGuest User2026.05.25
The hotel is located in the old city, very close to Gulou Station, with many local restaurants and various shops downstairs, making it very convenient. Xiao Jiu at the front desk was excellent, providing a free room upgrade. The room had a bathtub, which was fantastic! The hotel's breakfast was also good, featuring duck blood vermicelli soup. It's a great choice for both business and leisure travelers.
Tip: The hotel has food delivery robots. If you order takeout, be sure to tell the delivery person to use the robot to send it to your room. Otherwise, they might just leave it in the takeout locker on the first floor lobby. Before the robot delivers the food, the front desk confirms the guest's surname with the delivery person, which is a thoughtful touch.

Facilities: Everything is new and well-equipped. The toiletries are complete, even including a sewing kit, razor, body scrub brush, lotion, and soap. The comb is wooden, the toothbrush is soft and doesn't irritate gums, and the toothpaste has a refreshing taste (from Liangmianzhen). The shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner all smell pleasant.
The bathroom layout is sensible. I specifically chose this hotel for the smart toilet. Sitting on a cold toilet seat in winter requires courage, so a smart toilet is essential. Even the restrooms in the lobby on the first floor have smart toilets.
On the first day, the TV had a premium membership, which was a pleasant surprise, and I watched a few episodes of a show right away. However, it was gone on the second day. Other satellite channels are free to watch. If you want to watch movies, you need to log in with your own membership or purchase one.
Service: The front desk staff are enthusiastic. When I checked in, my room wasn't ready, so I was able to store my luggage, and they sent it up to my room once it was ready.
Environment: The decor is bright and new. Exit 3 of Hongqiao Station on Metro Line 5 is right at the hotel entrance, making it convenient to go anywhere. It's a ten-minute walk to Hexie Street, where there are many food options, so you don't have to worry about finding something to eat. There's also a bus stop nearby with direct routes to Fuzimiao and Zhongshan Wharf attractions. The front desk has transportation route maps available to help you get to scenic spots.
Hygiene: The room was cleaned daily, and supplies were replenished. Sometimes there were some hairs on the bathroom floor that weren't swept away, even though they were my own. The bathroom had a slight odor. I suggest placing some subtly fragrant air fresheners to mask the toilet smell.

Cleanliness was terrible. We checked in too late on the first day and didn't check the sheets. We left early the next morning and didn't notice anything either. When we checked out, we found bloodstains on the bed and around the pillows! (We weren't injured and weren't menstruating.) The key thing is, the housekeeper came to clean the room, but she didn't notice anything! We told the front desk about the bloodstains when we checked out, and they just said, ”We'll be more careful next time!” What kind of service is that? The room also smelled musty and even smelt cigarettes at night! The electric curtain button wouldn't open or close, and I have no idea what it does. On the bright side, the two breakfasts we ordered with Ctrip were included, and we shared them with all three of us, which was nice. Thank you. The rest was pretty average!

CChuntianrannaifenBooked this place for a business trip to Nanjing and was pleasantly surprised. The room was very spacious, with a large bay window offering excellent natural light. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the shredded radish pancake was absolutely delicious! The lounge on the first floor was also very convenient for business meetings. My foreign colleague traveling with me also spoke highly of it. If I return to Nanjing, I would certainly choose to stay here again.

GGuest UserI booked Hanyuan because it is within walking distance to my folks home. And my grandma used to work at Nanjing Agricultural University, which the hotel is affiliated with. I read others’ reviews and knew it is an old facility. I did not have unrealistic expectations.
We arrived late at night. Taxi driver dropped us off at the side entrance that has numerous stairs to the door. We had lots of luggage. As we got out of the cab, we saw some staff member in the lobby looking out. Instead of coming out to help us, he walked away. My husband, myself and our seven year old all carried/dragged multiple items up the stairs to get into the hotel lobby.
We checked in and decided that we would need to add a bed for the kid. House keeping came quickly to set up the bed but was reluctant to provide pillows for the additional bed. I had to repeatedly ask before they agreed to bring an extra pillow. Don’t understand why there is such resistance to equip the additional bed with pillow- after all, we did pay for the additional bed.
Everything else was pretty good during our first three-day-stay. We then went away to visit families elsewhere for a week before coming back to this hotel.
This time, our car drove onto the ramp at the front entrance. As soon as we entered the building, lobby manager came to offer us help. He helped us deliver luggage to our room. We are very appreciative of his assistance.
We ran into some issues at the front desk this time. They asked for our passports again and took our pictures for a second time. When I mentioned that we were just here a week ago and all information was taken already, we were told that all information has been erased as we checked out. When we checked in/out the first time, we informed front desk that we were making the hotel our base camp and will be coming in and out a few times. It’s strange that they would delete our information and redo everything all over again.
Again we need to add a bed. House keeping brought a roller bed which has a stained mattress pad. I asked them to bring a clean one, they said they could not. They said they didn’t have any clean pads. They said the only option is to remove the pad and put the sheets directly on the mattress. They further suggested that since the sheet is clean, dirty pad doesn’t matter and that every mattress pad under bed sheets has urine stains. His words made my stomach turn but I was too tired to fight so they went ahead put sheets on top of the mattress pad that has a big yellow stain. Again I asked for pillows for the additional bed, they refused at first, upon my insistence, they agreed to bring pillows. They also took out a blanket from the cabinets under television and put it on the bed.
When the seven year old was ready for bed, I opened the blanket and realized it’s cover is dirty. It’s dusty and has multiple stings of hair on it. I called house keeping, a lady quickly bought over a clean duvet cover for the blanket but refused to take away the dirty one. She insisted that we keep the dirty duvet in the closet. I did not understand her rationale but there isn’t anything I can do. So that dirty duvet cover stayed in the closet.
Maybe I should not have come back to this hotel.
AAnonymous UserThe rooms were clean and tidy, and they provided everything for kids, including footstools, toilet seats, and toothbrushes. The cleaning staff was exceptionally good. However, the water park staff was a bit indifferent and lacked a welcoming smile. The golf service was quite mediocre. On the other hand, the rock climbing instructors, one chubby and one skinny, were fantastic, making it easy for kids to feel comfortable and relaxed. The evening theatrical performances were also outstanding, and the on-site management was warm and attentive. The desserts at the buffet were an absolute highlight, especially the row of large sliced cakes—simply amazing! The dinner buffet offered a wide variety of dishes and is definitely recommended. The duck blood and vermicelli soup for breakfast was also a standout. The front desk service was good; they helped with luggage and guided us to our room. However, the hotel should really provide a map as it's quite difficult to navigate for first-time visitors. With so many activities and staff, it's understandable that service quality can be inconsistent, with some good and some not so good aspects. But overall, the experience was great and highly recommended. Therefore, I give Club Med Xianlin Resort a full five-star rating.

GGuest UserThis spot in Xinjiekou is absolutely perfect for exploring Nanjing at a relaxed pace! It's super close to Deji Plaza, the Presidential Palace, Xuanwu Lake, and Jiming Temple. Getting to Yihe Road and the Nanjing Museum is also a breeze. Downstairs, you'll find a ton of local eateries like Hongmiao, duck blood vermicelli soup shops, and traditional salted duck places.
The low-saturation, minimalist decor creates a wonderful, atmospheric vibe, and the entire room is controlled by a smart speaker for ultimate convenience. The soundproofing and blackout curtains in the room are excellent. The KingKoil mattress offers fantastic support, perfect for easing weary legs after a day of walking, and the Dyson hairdryer paired with the comfortable shower delivers a top-notch experience.
The lovely lady at the front desk even gave us insider tips for less-known spots. Whether you're into shopping, enjoying the lake, or taking photos along the Wutong Avenue, this location makes everything incredibly convenient. It's truly the best choice for a leisurely exploration of Jinling (Nanjing).
AAnonymous UserService: Excellent, self-check-in with a passcode lock was very convenient.
Environment: Not noisy at all, and the bed was very comfortable.
Facilities: Hot water was fast. The only thing was the bathroom mirror was a bit low, so I had to bend over slightly to dry my hair instead of standing upright.
DDuntiechongyijiaqinThe environment is fantastic, especially the location. It's incredibly close to Fuzimiao, right next to the Fuzimiao Grand Market. Getting to Laomendong, the Fuzimiao Qinhuai Scenic Belt, Jiangnan Gongyuan, or Bailuzhou Park is super convenient – all within a 10-minute bike ride. The atmosphere here is also excellent with plenty of public areas (and charging points!). I didn't take photos of the rooms, focusing mainly on the public spaces, which include a dedicated drying area. Plus, there's an elevator and shared showers and restrooms.

GGuest UserThe front desk service was excellent, very attentive and polite. This time we traveled with our baby, and they upgraded us to a family room. The room was incredibly spacious and spotless, plus it had a tent and a children's bed, which made our baby very happy. The hotel has plenty of parking, and it's very close to restaurants and department stores. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Nanjing.
SSpongebobsquarepantsFive-Day Stay in Nanjing
Check-in Experience
We arrived early at around 6 AM due to the difficulty of booking train tickets during the holiday season. Although check-in was at 3 PM, the staff kindly accommodated us with an early check-in for an additional fee.
Accommodation
We stayed in two types of rooms during our visit:
Single Room - Spacious and located in a peaceful, quiet area of the property.
RV Room - Situated near the camping area where families and friends gather around a large bonfire for singing, BBQ, and games.
**Ratings**
Staff: 8/10 - Friendly and accommodating throughout our stay.
Shuttle Service: 10/10 - The driver was exceptionally pleasant and always smiling. Since my daughter has asthma and walking long distances is difficult for her, we frequently requested shuttle service between locations. This was especially helpful as ride-share drivers typically drop off at the entrance, which is quite a walk from the rooms and facilities.
Breakfast: 10/10 - Excellent variety of traditional Chinese dishes. They were accommodating when my husband requested takeout.
Cleanliness: 10/10 - Both rooms were clean, including the beds, towels, and bathrooms. As my daughter’s asthma is triggered by dust, I was pleased that the rooms were clean enough that she didn’t experience any sneezing or symptoms. We all slept well for the entire five days.
**Things to Consider**
It’s highly recommended to have your own car, as the property is quite far from the city center.
If you enjoy nature and outdoor activities, this place is ideal. Activities include:
- ATV rides
- Fishing area
- Playground (note: adults are charged rather than children, so it’s more economical for only one adult to enter)
- Small animal area featuring rabbits, ostriches, and llamas (15 RMB entry)
- Train ride (30 RMB)
The coffee shop has a wonderful atmosphere and aesthetic appeal, making it popular for photos. The property itself is spacious and perfect for leisurely walks. There’s also a temple nearby, approximately 20 minutes away by car.
**Challenges We Faced**
My daughter developed a fever and experienced diarrhea during our stay. When I called the front desk for help, the staff member wasn’t very accommodating and suggested my husband go buy medicine. This was difficult for us as foreigners who don’t speak the language well. I felt sad and helpless, especially when we couldn’t get any taxis or cabs to pick us up. We wanted to take her to the hospital, but no cabs were available.
However, the next morning, a staff member spoke with me who was extremely kind and accommodating. They even offered to drive my daughter to the hospital, which I declined because we needed to catch our train and she was feeling better after taking medicine. They drove us to the South Railway Station and thoughtfully gave my daughter bags and drinks. It was a very kind gesture that we truly appreciated.
MM679769****The hotel is super convenient for transportation, it's only about a five or six-minute walk to the subway station, which is incredibly friendly for tourists! I arrived quite early because I was on an early train, and the front desk staff proactively helped me with my luggage. Their service attitude was excellent, and they even arranged for me to check in early! The price is economical and affordable, and the environment is very clean. It's incredibly good value for money!
