The Okura Okazaki Bettie is a beautifully designed modern hotel and was the perfect choice for our combined business/leisure visit to Kyoto. The location was reasonably close (short taxi ride) to excellent restaurants and sights in the culturally historic area east of the river. The guest room quality, cleanliness and comfort is excellent - finished to a high standard with large windows overlooking the garden below and temples beyond. Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the hotel's own zen garden. The choice of either ”Kyoto”or ”American” breakfast was amazing, beautifully presented bento style, exceptionally fresh, plentiful and delicious. Indeed this was one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Finally the service level is exceptional. Both management and staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Neither the most nor least expensive option in Kyoto - just simple great value. We look forward to returning next time.

G/f layout is very strange with restaurant/ breakfast place, being cut into 2 halves by the lobby lounge. You can’t enjoy your breakfast at all coz 1) I have to hold a tray with food carefully walk through the huge crowds, 2) more luckily I got Australian tour & Taiwan tour today, over 50 people including eaters & tourists gathered at the lounge+breakfast place chatting waiting to set off. Then the tour guide yell with high voice for announcements. What a lovely scene.
If you like meeting vibrant & overwhelming global tours or groups of secondary school students dashing around, that’s the place for you.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our first visit to Kyoto. This hotel is very clean with nice accessories and modern Japanese accommodations located in quiet neighborhood away from constant tourist crowds but at the same time in walking distance from the emperor palace and right across from Nijo Castle. It is only 10-15 minutes away on taxi from Gion district and other main tourist attractions that Kyoto can offer. I also would like mention Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto staff that made us feel very welcomed and specifically to Timothy Hui (front office manager) who went beyond his duties and make special accommodations for us during our visit in Kyoto.

This hotel has wonderful costumer services and the employees speak many languages. Right up the street there is a 7/11 store for all your snack run, there are cafe and restaurant within walking distance. The Karasuma-Oike station is literally 3-5 minutes walk. The best part is the traveler’s store that is about a 10 min walk. I been wanting to go there and finally got to visit it. This store has stationary items such as notebooks that can have you record your journey.

The room is not big, but if you put two single beds together, the space will be larger, which is convenient for opening the suitcase. You can see a small part of the street view outside the window, and you can see the city view of Kyoto outside the window of the corridor.
The bathroom toiletries smell like black tea, which I like very much. There are subway stations and bus stations around, as well as two super large convenience stores. There is a 24-hour Japanese fast food restaurant downstairs. It is not very delicious, but it is very cheap and convenient. It is very quiet because it is surrounded by residential areas. You can feel the life of Japanese residents by walking around.
We stayed for a total of six nights. The hotel only cleaned the room on the middle day. The garbage was piled up to the trash can and there was no room... And on the day of cleaning, it should be halfway through the cleaning and left because one of the two beds was made and the other was not made.
The hotel has only one elevator, which is shared by tourists and staff. If you encounter the staff's room cleaning time during the day, the elevator will be more busy and the waiting time will be longer.
There is an old lady staff member who can speak Chinese at the front desk. Her attitude towards Chinese and Japanese people is very different. She was very gentle and kind to the Japanese, and even chased me to say goodbye. When she saw me, she spoke Japanese first. Seeing that I didn't understand, she raised her forehead and looked at me sideways, ”English?” I agreed to speak English, but she still tried to speak Chinese in a cold and rough northeastern accent. After knowing that I was Chinese, her attitude changed 180 degrees, cold and unfriendly, and liked to use an imperative tone. She asked me when I could pick up the stored luggage. Considering that my companion was still on the way to the hotel, the future plan was still unknown, and I couldn't determine a specific time, so I casually replied ”I don't know”. She immediately said in an imperative way, ”You can't say you don't know, you can just say a time, three o'clock or six o'clock, but you can't say you don't know, otherwise I can't store it for you.” Although I was surprised, I still gave an approximate time of ”8 o'clock”. As a result, she took the initiative to say ”I'll write it for you at 6 o'clock.” I was really speechless. Why did she ask me? Just write a time at random. And later, when she saw me in the corridor, she even looked up and ignored me. However, she would greet me when she saw me in other occasions, but it was always stiff and fake, and she looked reluctant.
Except for this old lady who could speak Chinese, the other staff were quite friendly. Every time I returned to the hotel, they would greet me with a smile.

this hotel is in a good location, it is not a family hotel, breakfast was good, the only gripe we had is that we asked for non smokers room and the room smelled of tabaco, they did move us to another room which did not smell of tabaco but had not been used for a while and did have dust on the furniture.
they did try to please and make our stay pleasant

Nicely located hotel with great amenities and a historical touch/feel. Love how it immerses itself in a busy district but still has all the privacy.
The hospitality of the front desk could be improved but overall excellent.

Generally speaking, it is quite cost-effective for stay Kyoto Banjing to be a hotel in winter.Surrounded by some restaurants in online celebrity and shopping spots in online celebrity, the traffic is also very convenient, and it is a beautiful place to go out.But theirCleaning is not every day, just doing the most basic cleaning. Of course, this was made clear before, so it is acceptable on the whole.

6699nigelaStayed here for 6 nights. Staff fantastic, room modern with all usual Japanese up to date bathroom facilities. Just a 6 min walk from Kyoto central station so access to all other areas in Kyoto either by train, subway or bus very easy. Free extras were the afternoon tea, happy hour drinks and evening supper - rice with sauce and nibbles. A couple of the major Buddhist temples 5 ,10 and 20 mins walk also the Japanese railway museum. Loads of food choices at and around the station. Very clean and affordable.
CCarolinHotel was super nice! I loved almost everything.
The room was very big for Japanese standards and the staff was very professional and fluent in English.
Location couldn’t be better, right next to Kyoto Station and a lot of options for shopping and dining.
The only thing that was disappointing was the breakfast. They divide it in a western and japanese breakfast. But the western breakfast didn’t really have much western choices. And the coffee was not good. This could be improved.
Otherwise it was a perfect stay and I would recommend it. :-)
CCkyankcTitle: An Extraordinary Stay at an Exquisite Kyoto Gem
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a truly remarkable hotel in Kyoto, and I can confidently say that my experience was nothing short of excellent. From the moment I stepped foot into this elegant establishment until the day of my departure, every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations.
Nestled in the heart of Kyoto, the hotel's location was simply perfect. It provided easy access to some of the city's most iconic landmarks and cultural attractions, ensuring that I could explore the beauty of Kyoto with utmost convenience. Whether it was the majestic Kinkaku-ji Temple or the serene Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, everything was within reach, allowing me to immerse myself fully in the city's rich heritage.
The hotel's architecture and interior design were a true reflection of Kyoto's aesthetic beauty. The moment I entered the lobby, I was greeted by a sense of tranquility and harmony. The attention to detail was impeccable, with traditional Japanese elements seamlessly integrated into the contemporary design. The serene garden views from the common areas only added to the overall charm and provided a peaceful oasis amidst the bustling city.
The staff members at the hotel were the epitome of hospitality. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive service throughout my stay, they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Their genuine smiles and willingness to assist with any request created a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Their knowledge of the local area and recommendations for sightseeing and dining were invaluable, enabling me to make the most of my time in Kyoto.
The room I stayed in was a haven of luxury and elegance. Immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, it exuded a sense of serenity that allowed me to unwind after a day of exploration. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the comfortable bedding to the carefully curated amenities.
GGuest User“I had a fantastic stay at this hotel near Kyoto Station. just a short walking distance from the station, making it incredibly convenient for transportation, dining, and sightseeing. The amenities were excellent, and I especially appreciated the free laundry room. The room was quite spacious for Japan, with a comfortable layout that made it easy to relax after a long day. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto!”
GGuest Userhave suttle buses from the kyoto station to the hotel. and I have to say the shuttle bus driver is so welcoming and cheerful.
also convenient to go to sightseeing places by bus( around 5min walk)
but no convenient stores nearby. the closest one will be about 10min walk
GGuest UserWe had an excellent stay at this Machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse) for 3 days. We only did in-room dining one night, but that was also excellent. The check-in process is a little strange, as you will receive communication from the company that's a little dense and will not interact directly with the staff unless you choose to. We had to scan and send our passport photos and fill out a registration card, but that was it. The property is small by European/American standards in the sense that you will need to be careful to avoid damaging (including possibly your own head) things during your stay due to height and luggage weight. There's slippers provided to switch from your walking shoes to walking inside the property and there is an excellent bathtub and washroom with washer. My two cautions - this firm has English speaking employees available during business hours (and an emergency line) but it is geared primarily towards the Japan renter. Be prepared to know Japanese or be willing to take the time to translate certain things via your cell phone/app of your choice to understand how to work the various appliances. As an older building, learning the heating/cooling. The second caution, as an older building sound is an issue. You will hear the street and need to control your volume in order to be a polite guest. If this isn't something you're looking to do, then just throw the money at a more modern hotel experience. We liked it - not everyone will.
WWai Yu CatherineSuper location just opposite JR Kyoto station, with a convenient store in the hotel, washer available on 2/f 3/f 4/f, and you can watch live availability on hotel TV, then you need not rush up & down between floors, also lockers available
독독락당The Pocket Hotel offers a no-frills experience at a reasonable price. The room is just large enough to accomodate the futon you are given to sleep on and a little more. For people who need a bed to sleep, I definitely would not recommend this location. That said, I would say the room has everything on might need for a good night's sleep. The air conditioner is perfectly functional, a necessity in Kyoto's sweltering summers. Additionally, the limited space definitely means that accomodating guests with gargantuan suitcases is probably not possible. The washroom, while well furnished and perfectly serviceable, is public and located outside of one's room and is accessed by the same key card as the one used for one's room. In addition, the shower, located on the first floor for men and second for women, is also public use and accessed in the same way as the washroom. That said, the showers are split into individual rooms, so I would suggest one is offered more than sufficient privacy despite its public nature. If these minor inconveniences are unacceptable for you, this hotel is not the right one for you. As for the hotel's location, the hotel is fairly well positioned to go see Kiyomizudera and is a short walk from the subway. In addition, there are a number of great restaurants in the vicinity. In particular, there is a great abundance of ramen restaurants so it could be decent location to stop by to sample a number of different bowls. Between Daikoku Ramen, Ramen Rin, Ramen Yokozuna, Ginjo Ramen Kubota, and New Taihou, I enjoyed my daily dose of noodles for sure. It is also worth noting that there is a convenience store across the street and a pharmacy a little down the street. The pharmacy is a great place to pick up 2L bottles of drinks, but be warned that they might not be refrigerated. It's also worth noting that there is a Yoshinoya, McDonald's, and Yayoi Ken nearby so if you ever feel the need for a quick meal, it can easily me solved at a moment's notice. Overall, I would say this hotel is not one to stay at for the hotel experience, but rather as an option simply have a place to rest with proper privacy.
GGuest UserI used double - m for one person, but when I entered the room one step, I thought, ”Is it not so large?” In fact, when I was arranging my luggage in the room and moving color 々, I realized that if I was alone, I would take a room that was quite easy to use. I didn't eat at night for one night, but all other places such as lounge and receptionist have a luxury feeling and luxury feeling, but I feel at home somewhere I felt it was a lodging facility to say ”I travel to live”.
GgzsylviaThe hotel is newly opened, with a very elegant design. It continues the Banyan Tree's usual wooden elements to give people a fresh and natural feeling. The rooms are spacious. I love the wooden private bath in the room the most. The hot spring spa is amazing. The hotel provides exquisite dinner and breakfast. Walking in the hotel's small garden in the morning and looking at the dense bamboo forest is very healing. The staff is warm and thoughtful, polite and meticulous, and the ceiling level
