Central location. Walked to parks, theatre & train stations. The outside & entrance are still looking like a building site. The entrance and reception area are small considering how many peoples the building can accomodate. The receptionist is friendly & helpful though. Once entering the lift & living area which are clean and mordern. Felt a bit dark in the common cocoon area- may be few pictures in the wall will give this place some characteristics. If the company can create a common mingle area, which will be appreciated as it has quite international feel in the cocoon area. The shower area is a bit like the shower block when I go camping and caravanning. Clean and modern, but the shower head is terrible and splashing water everywhere- even in the suppose to be dry area! ( may be the face downward shower heads will be more suitable for that small area.). In general, I am happy with my one night stay with a small rucksack L. Value for money.

This is a very pleasant, well located hotel for the price bracket. The staff are nice and efficient. The rooms are basic and singles are quite compact, but have everything you need for a night away from home. The tube station and main road with lots of dining options is about a 5 mins walk away (if that) but it's far enough away so there is no noise.

A shower without a door or a curtain is not avant-garde, it’s not modern, it’s not even clever; it’s just a headache and inconvenience for hotel guests and cleaning staff alike.  The faucet in the shower is very modern. Two knobs, one which turns the water on, and the other which selects whether the water comes out of the fixed shower head above, or the movable shower wand. Choose wrong and enjoy a blast of ice cold water from above.  This is not something a person wants to figure out when they step into the shower first thing in the morning.

Booked for my parents who would be exhausted after their 10.5-hour flight. I was approached via WhatsApp by their front desk and it turned out that my special request was kindly honoured. Parents were satisfied with the location (although they landed at T3 and took quite a while through the immigration) and the room and amenities were beyond expectation. Would definitely book again when necessary. Would be nice to have fried eggs for breakfast though.

So the hotel is in a great location, super close to Paddington and Edgware Road stations. Reception staff were lovely. Signage is poor as the hotel is actually made up of several different buildings and former hotels/guest houses. I have stayed here before as its cheap and cheerful. They have refurbed the bathrooms but the rooms are very old fashioned. Bedding is very old. Under the beds had not been hoovered or checked (see picture, we found a pair of used knickers and a condom wrapper). The bathroom although lovely had a limited amount of hot water. Not even enough for me me person to a shower with a warm shower let alone three. The room was advertised as three single beds but when we got there it was a double and a single. Overall you do get what you pay for and I can cope with tired/old as it wasnt a luxury trip or special occasion however they need to absolutely work on cleanliness. The carpets and curtains smelt of smoke and cigarettes.

The hotel is okay. Room was big and spacious, bed a little bit hard But main issue is the location, it's not well located for anything other than the back entrance to excel 15 minute walk to Custom House. Can't take lime bikes near the hotel Don't book this hotel if you want to be exploring around London

Great service and friendly staff were always available. Breakfast was great for what you paid, and it was all you can eat. Toast, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, coffee, not a full English breakfast but very affordable. Things like amenities such as washing and towels were available, but had to pay a small price extra for. The facilities were good and there was a bar/hang out area which was open each night and made it very easy to.mingle with fellow travellers. Very central to the city and most landmarks were walking distance about an hour or so which is good when visiting a new city. Of course the London tube is available. Would highly recommend anyone travelling to London solo for a nice experience to meet fellow travellers without breaking the bank.

Quite a bog standard Hilton. The location was ok, good for me as I like walking and I wanted to be somewhere a bit different to where I had been before. Reasonably close to a tube. Plenty of cafes and eateries nearby. The place was clean and the bed was comfy. It was just fine, nothing more than that. Reception area was nice, staff friendly but the room was bland and edging on tired. I didn't eat in the hotel. The toiletries and complimentary water was nice and the towels and shower were decent. I've stayed in worse places, I've stayed in better places.

GGuest User 2025.05.17
The hostel’s location and cleanliness are solid, but the operation is a disaster.   First, reception is hidden inside a bar downstairs—confusing for new guests. Staff (who double as bartenders) often leave the desk unattended, forcing you to wait. The check-in system is broken: I was assigned an already occupied bed, and another girl told me she’d been moved for the same reason. After being reassigned, I was woken at 3 AM by staff shining a flashlight in my face, claiming there was a ”problem” with my bed. They confirmed my name but offered no apology—just rude disruption. Turns out, that girl didn’t return at night, so they removed her belongings and gave her bed to someone else! Instead of fixing their own mess, they disrupted multiple guests in the middle of the night. Unprofessional, chaotic, and downright rude—especially for a chain hostel. Never again.

Always a reliable place to stay as it is close to my work. In late 2023 and early 2024, I was often able to get a good value stay here in an accessible room. However, more recently prices have been a lot higher for this hotel on Trip.com, so I have stopped using it because the Stratford Travelodge usually works out quite a bit cheaper. It's a shame because I prefer the Ibis but can't really justify the cost difference.

GGuest UserThe hotel is within a short walking distance to: good eateries, shops and the train station to Central London. There are ample parking spaces at ~10pounds/ day for hotel guests. This older hotel has comfortable, spacious rooms but a quirky shower head (aim at the wall as you shower to avoid flooding the bathroom).

GGuest UserI am satisfied with the location and the modern environment of the hotel itself (not the unreasonable tiny space of a standard double room - a pot 8sqm double room), but this is the worst hotel experience my family and I have ever had. My mother is an old lady who is almost 70 years old. She fell down at the hotel entrance on the day we checked in. We noticed that the ground at the hotel entrance was designed with a ramp to facilitate access for disabled people who need to use wheelchairs, but there was a small gap and height difference between the entrance and the ramp, which caused my mother to fall very badly. We booked the pot 8sqm double room for 4 nights in this hotel, the space was really incredibly small. The only thing I could thought of was to ask the hotel whether they could upgrade us to a slightly larger room to accommodate an injured elderly person, and the hotel catered our needs. The Front Office and Operations Manager Rax explained that due to the design of the hotel, the small rooms are on the floors above the ground, whilst the large rooms are in the basement of the hotel, so the only room we can move to is located in the basement of the hote, and we could only be able to move on the second day of our stayl. Although this statement is not very reasonable, the situation in the basement is acceptable. The second unpleasant and terrifying experience was that I was taking a shower in the bathroom in the room while my mother was having coffee in the hotel lobby at night, and there was no one else in the room except me. While I was showering, the lights in the bathroom suddenly went out completely, while the water was still running normally. This was definitely the most horrible hotel experience ever. I was so flustered, trying so hard to find the water faucet in the dark and turn it off. Once I opened the glass door of the shower room, the lights came back on. I hurriedly finished my shower and went to the hotel front desk, I saw Rax and reported this issue to him. From his reaction to me when he knew about this, I didn't feel that he had any empathy or sympathy for the terrible thing I had gone through. He explained that the hotel had a new motion sensor that would cause the lights in the room to turn off if there was no movement in the room. He even argued with me that it wasn't a big deal that the light went out during the shower. I suggested that he could explain this new feature of their hotel to guests when they check in, so that if guests encounter a similar situation, at least they will feel less panicked. He told me that even if he knew it in advance, he would not feel better. I was really amazed by the responses as a Front Office and Operations Manager. On the third day of our stay, when I was putting on makeup in the room and getting ready to go out, the alarm suddenly sounded. When we were trying to calm down from the unpleasant experiences we had encountered in just two days, suddenly these things that made us irritable and uneasy happened again, which really drive us crazy. I then met the Front Office Supervisor Asher at the lobby, he tried to understand our experiences patiently, and gave apologies on behalf of the hotel. He offered us free breakfast on the forth day morning which we did not ask for. Asher also talked to me sincerely, and that he would talk to the General Manager of the hotel about our case, and let the GM to have a talk with us too. I think this is the kind of attitude and crisis handling method a hotel employee should have. Finally I want to say that although my family and I have been a member of the Marriott group for many years, we will no longer stay in any of their hotels and any type of accommodation.

The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food options were good. We also appreciated the availability of locker storage, which made things convenient. However, one downside was the ongoing maintenance work during our stay. It caused some disruption, and unfortunately, we had to take quite a long detour just to reach our room. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it did take away from the overall convenience. Would still recommend for the price, perks, and service — just worth checking ahead if maintenance is ongoing.

GGuest UserLocation is excellent with just a few minutes walk from Gloucester Road station. Yet the hotel is bit old and toilet got some strange smell when we first entered and the toilet door can’t be closed. As I was staying with family, I could bear with it. Nobody answering the calls when I was trying to call operator or housekeeping; always asking to leave message which I don’t like! MM Alan AExcellent location within a 5 minute walk to Paddington Station. Other than this point, I was disappointed with the Hotel. Cost per night was quite high for what was their offering ... had to climb a shallow step stairs from street to lobby (no ramp), which was slippery when wet from rain/morning dew. Room was exceeding small and could not access the safe (on floor of closet ... needed to move bed to access closet), no functonal deadlock on door, shower and sink hard to access (medium sized adult) and no working A/C (though on the 4th night, they did bring me a stand up fan). Phone was also non-operational.

On the Trip site the check in time is incorrect (ov voucher it says after 12, but it is after 14) - despite us coming too early, they gave us the room and made coffee for free. The hotel is locked over night and the staff is really friendly. We were in the hotel trought the hottest days in history but they prepared a ventilator - because they don't have AC (normally).
