Hot Springs Hotels in Hambantota

As part of our 3rd trip to Sri Lanka, I selected this hotel on the basis of recommendations and reviews. I must say that I do not share the positivity of other guests. Fortunately we were only there for 3 nights. The main building is gorgeous and imposing. Contrary to the bedrooms, the common areas are extremely spacious and airy. The pool is large and the pool area and garden are nice and well equipped and tended. A proper foot shower to wash the feet after the beach would be an improvement. For such an hotel, the rooms are far too small. Lack of clothes storage makes matter worse. The bathroom is equally small and dark. The overall impression is one of a cramped and oppressive space which is most unusual in Sri Lanka. It is reminiscent of rooms in any large international hotel chain.The narrow balcony which is made smaller by the bath has only one bench chair to sit on rather than 2 chairs to relax in. The staff are attentive, friendly and helpful, so is the management. The food quality is good but variable, while some dishes are well executed while others are more disappointing. The menu is extensive but very expensive by local standards. Overall, if you are not bothered by the room size, there are some very good reasons to choose this hotel, but there are so many good hotels in SL that this one might not be first choice.

We stayed for 3 nights at Uga Chena Huts. It was a great amount of time - and 4 nights might just be better to thoroughly enjoy the property as well as Yala. The room was such a great respite after the crazy Yala drives. So much space to sprawl out. Such a comfy bed and pillows. Great shower and pressure. The deck with pool was lovely and really enjoyed hearing the waves from the ocean and the birds. Only criticism is the toilet room - it needs a roof for privacy - no one wants to hear their loved one’s issues going on in there! The service was spot on! They worked so hard to make eveyone happy and cared for. A shout out to Janith our ranger - he was so knowledgeable and made the drives fun and tailored them to my needs after I said no more bumpy “main road” of Yala - so helpful! (And on that note make sure to book Spa appointments! Your sore body will thank you after those safari drives) Tea in the spa was excellent! The food - amazing! Always ready to cater to our needs when we needed to change it up because of preferences. I will remember the fluffy truffle eggs from breakfast forever!! Best breakfasts I’ve ever had. And the quantity of food - you will never go hungry - ever! I had to start just having soup for lunch to save room for Safari snacks which is actually just lunch to go - and so good to! I can’t say enough or praise the property and people enough - wonderful in every sense. Oh and an elephant even made a visit to the car park where you board the safari vehicles as well as wild boar to top it all off! Thanks so much Uga Chena Huts!!

This is one of the most beautiful resorts in an amazing secluded nature we have ever experienced in Sri Lanka. Jannith and Nalin are doing a great job with their entire team. Always friendly, eager on making the great stay even a bit greater, taking care of excursions, individual wishes. We had a beachfront room overlooking the ocean, very clean, good beds. The restaurant is serving great Sri Lanka and Western food. The atmosphere is friendly, calm, familiar. The entire resort is very neat and well kept.

First of all, the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the place was very neat. The breakfast was very good with String Hoppers. Although there were construction going outside, it was calm and quite in our room. Although the facilities were low but not much of a problems. These problems are, 1. Some of the lights weren't working in the room, and in the bathroom only the light near the sink was working, all the others were not working, so it is not practical to have a bath at night. 2. The telephone in our was not working.

Great, great, super great First of all, I booked the Cocoon Suite, which includes 2 meals The hotel is very mysterious The staff explained all the way that after dark, you must be led by a staff member when you leave the room, because small animals will appear in the hotel at night. We saw a porcupine on the way out of the room. There is also an opening in the hotel, which is guarded by a special person 24 hours a day. This opening is the elephant's door. Two months ago, an elephant came Each large cave (large tent) is actually equipped with a small cave (small tent) behind it. If you are a family of four, then the small cave behind is just in handy. Of course, if you only book a cave, you have to pay 485 US dollars when you arrive, including three meals. The small tent also has an open-air shower. Special recommendation, must include three meals. It is inconvenient to enter and exit the surrounding area. The hotel's meals are also very good, and there are different menus for three meals. I guarantee that you will not get tired of it. I especially recommend the tuna for lunch. And the smoked beef.tuna for dinner. The key is that the safari early the next morning is still a VIP channel, and there is no need to queue at the door. A good guide is also very important, and this is also a matter of luck. Our guide explained while flipping through the book to show us what animals they are. We encountered a leopard (a rat with thorns on its body), a leopard, which is very fast, so you must look carefully at the low places, an owl, a crocodile, a wild boar, a peacock, an eagle, and various birds, elephants, deer, and lizards.

After staying at Amangalla, which was absolutely fantastic, we came to Amanwella. We were a little apprehensive after having had such a great time at the first hotel. But Amanwella was great, too! The architecture by famous Australian, Kerry Hill, is stunning and smack dab in the middle of a dreamy tropical beach! The infinity pool cantilevers over the serene and gorgeous view, with beautiful sunsets a-plenty. We enjoyed spending time in the attractive library, read and saw books on local history, to Nixon. The whole place was immaculate. We really enjoyed our safari to Yala National Park. Rujitha and an our driver Chummly accompanied us and they were awesome! Thank you guys! We had a blast! We saw monkeys, elephants and even a leopard! We got very lucky. We enjoyed the food and the people who served us in the two restaurants and the people at the front desk and even the tuk tuk drivers. We happily did yoga everyday! We also went up to the rock temple. Definitely got our steps in for the month, but it was worth it. Our room was large, comfortable, and beautiful with a great view of the ocean. We can’t say enough about the place. It’s relaxing and beautiful and the people who work there are both well trained but also kind. If you go, don’t forget to eat the ice cream! Honestly the best we’ve ever had. We also took a great cooking class with the Executive Sous Chef, who was patient, friendly and knowledgeable. So fun and interesting. We enjoyed the musicians, too! We had fun meeting a few of the other guests, and ended up having very interesting conversations with people from the other side of the world. But it’s also a place you could go and if you wanted to , you could just spend time quietly by yourself. Highly recommend Amanwella. We will treasure our memories forever.

The villas are stunning in a gorgeous setting - wish we could have stayed for more than one night but we were Turing Sri Lanka. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous: to have wildlife including monkeys and chipmunks in and around the complex was a special experience- highly recommend.

The hotel is very new, everything is in a very good condition and we liked the concept that it’s not a standard Hilton. You can feel that the service routines are not at the level as it should be, but the staff were always friendly a helpful.
