Outstanding
JJD75Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property.

GGuest UserThe feeling of vacation is full when you enter the hotel. The room is OK but there are a lot of bugs. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel, Italian, Asian and buffet. There are some tourist restaurants around the hotel, which are not recommended. It takes about half an hour to drive to any restaurant that is worth your attention. When you check out, you should take a good look at the bill. There are several extra items such as turtle protection fees for no reason.

JJiajiatangbaoNo wonder the president cut the ribbon at the hotel's opening. It's probably the most luxurious and modern resort in Sri Lanka right now. Perhaps because I booked a pool villa, the room experience was indeed excellent. It's highly modernized. Even the outdoor breakfast area wasn't too hot. The staff are very attentive; in the evening, they proactively offered a blanket if they saw someone putting on clothes indoors. Going to the beach is only allowed twice a day, and you must be accompanied by staff because wildlife passes through the national park. But it's definitely worth a visit; the scenery of the sand dunes and the sea of sky is absolutely stunning and magnificent.

MM445002****As one of Sri Lanka's top luxury hotels, the Shangri-La maintains excellent hygiene and safety standards; sniffer dogs conduct luggage searches before entry. The Shangri-La's breakfast and dinner buffets are well-suited to Chinese tastes. The beach is also beautiful.

RRavindranThe owner was very helpful. He was eager for me to sign up with a Safari tour that he organized and said that I could check out later which I appreciated. The tour was a little disappointing though as the breakfast he mentioned was not what I received. I was.however happy that he prepared some food when I arrived as I said that I wouldn't be able to eat the hotel breakfast that I paid for. The sheets had marks on them and I saw big cockroaches. There was no air-conditioning so the room was a bit stuffy.

GGuest UserWe booked this at the last minute due to a change of plans and so just went by the previous reviews but we are so glad we did! It’s a small hotel but with lovely large rooms with private pools.  We loved the sunset walk to the beautiful wild beach and our trip to Yala.  We didn’t have any problems with wildlife in the shower and loved the feeling of being in such a natural environment.  The real selling point of the hotel however is their staff and every one of them went out of their way to help us have a great stay.  Thanks again!

CChris&MariaThis hotel is located in a remote area, which turned out to be a huge advantage. The peaceful surroundings allowed us to completely unwind without any distractions — it truly felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Right from the start, we were treated to a lovely surprise: a room upgrade with a stunning ocean view. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was pure magic. The food was a highlight — beautifully flavored local dishes with a creative twist. Knowing that everything was sourced sustainably from local farmers made the experience even more meaningful. What really stood out was the hospitality. During my stay, I sprained my ankle, and the staff went above and beyond to take care of me. A special thank you to Lakshitha, who was incredibly kind and attentive throughout my recovery. This is a place where nature, comfort, and genuine care come together. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to disconnect, recharge, and experience authentic Sri Lankan warmth.

LLim Ku Hua JanaService was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. As it was low season, staff were attentive. Starry night at the beach which was peaceful and beautiful. Closes at 6pm but we still ventured out for the stars. Pool is long and nice if you want to swim laps. The dining menu has good variety and food was good. What we did not like was the additional taxes on top of the VAT and service tax. Balloons the total bill on top of the already more expensive menu compared to other 5stars hotel we visited. So need to add another 33% on top of the more expensive prices on the menu.

GGuest UserSet a quadruple room, in fact, can live 6 or 7 people no problem 😄 The hotel is located on the edge of the lake. Since we are going to Yarra National Park to see wildlife the next morning, the store packed breakfast for us very early.

JJoe0412A wonderful family run establishment. I was very ill during my stay and the owner took me to his doctor friend and pharmacy and took care of me. The room is comfortable and it has a nice sitting balcony. Its very very quiet and easy to sleep. Its 10 mins by tuk tuk to tissa lake and the safari is not far. They offer safari services although I didn't use. Wifi available. Lots of plugs in the room. Breakfast is flexible and accommodating. The family is so kind and warm. Highly recommend staying here.
