Tung Chung - 2 nights - private double room Expectation/Reality: this is the only provider of accommodation in the area so expectations need to be managed. They have the ability to essentially set terms, so the negative reviews here are likely from the folks who didn’t read the find print. The photos match the space very well. However the hostel reached out over what’s app a number of days before the booking asking for the $150 membership fee and $500 deposit, which I was not comfortable providing until arrival, however the hostel was okay with that. Security: very good, there is a gate lock and a lock to the door, very safe. Hygiene: overall very clean, no concerns. Hospitality: the check in and out process is all over what’s app, so you are at the mercy of how responsive they are which can be frustration when trying to get in. Once you are in, it’s fine. Social Atmosphere: good social spaces. Overall: given they essentially have a monopoly on accommodation in the area. It’s a pretty good spot. I accidentally broke the key and they came and fixed it the next day, but took off $50 from the deposit. So handle the keys gently. Over pretty good place.

We had an enjoyable stay. Great location for hiking and sightseeing, very peaceful setting, lovely views of Lantau Peak and close to the Big Buddha, the chairlift and good bus connections to all over Lantau Island. The buildings have seen better days, as you expect at a youth hostel, but the showers are hot and effective, the kitchen and BBQ facilities are good and the bed is comfortable. The manager is very personable and friendly and it was nice to meet his family. There are few shops to buy ordinary supplies in Ngong Ping, except a very basic 7/11, so you need to stock up before arriving or be prepared to eat at the expensive tourist outlets in the 'village' or at Po Lin monastery. Tourist facilities shut down by 5-6pm.

Good service, great place to visit and lots of activities we can do near by there, just I suggest to make the restroom more better.

Do NOT reccomend. The place is very far away from everything, the access to the area is very limited, the first bus is at 8:30 and the last is around 6 pm. I arrived a little before 4 and the hotel was locked, no way to enter. I clapped, knocked, screamed for a long time and no one came to the gate. After a long time under the rain, i called the number and the guy came to open the gate. The reception is close to the gate, which means he heard me calling and chose not to help. Once i arrived he asked me to pay 500 for deposit and 150 more for a member ship. He gave me some bedsheets which didn't fit the bed, no towel, and took me to the room. Dirty, so much dust, smelling bad and not cleaned. I couldn't even stay one hour in the room, even though i paid for two nights, i just packed up and left the hotel . Again, do not reccomend.

Location is good

Dinosaur theme room with children is good, there are a small amount of toys can be for children to relieve boredom, if you still like nature friends can try, hiking to see the sunrise, good weather and many stars to see 👍👍 very good choice

It's near Ngong Ping Market and Heart Sutra Jianlin. The location is very good, but the equipment is a bit old. It's OK for a youth hostel, but there is no bus transportation at night. There is cup noodle for sale.

Very good for a youth hostel. The best thing is the location in the mountains, which makes it possible to go on late or early tours, as you are already there. The facilities are also top-notch and equipped for all types of food preparation. Unfortunately, there were a lot of children staying with us, which increased the noise level considerably and the facility is rather thinly soundproof...but that is to be expected in a youth hostel.

It is suitable for people who want to think for a while, or for a group of people to have a barbecue and socialize. Because it is at the foot of the mountain, it is a distance from the sea and you can't see the water.

It will definitely make you more comfortable than the nearby Ngong Ping campsite.

This is my second time staying at Ngong Ping Youth Hostel. The service attitude and level of the front desk receptionist (hostel housekeeper) are beyond imagination (the staff on duty worked overtime until late at night, followed up the whole process after adding WeChat, and did their best to solve the many difficulties before we arrived at the hostel. After arriving, the attitude was humble and polite, showing the excellent youth hostel service spirit and level. It was really impressive! My child wanted to go to Sha Lo Wan to take photos, so we chose this hostel. The front desk staff added WeChat in advance to communicate and understand our arrival time, which was very polite. The four-person dormitory is clean, and there are tableware in the public area for cooking. There is no shortage of hot water for hairdryers. You can explore the Big Buddha and the third section of the Phoenix Trail to watch the sunrise. You can also take the bus to Tai O. We stayed for two nights and felt quite happy. The only thing to note is: if you want to cook your own food, you have to buy it from the villages along the bus route or Tung Chung or Tai O, and also pay attention to the bus schedule to avoid missing the bus.
