"The riyals were exceptionally beautiful, typical of traditional Moroccan courtyard houses. The ambiance was impeccable; from the courtyard to the rooms to the terrace, everything was exactly to my aesthetic liking—exquisite and impeccably clean. The location was excellent, just a five-minute walk from the Blue Gate, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the Medina's old city. However, it was tucked away in a small alley, making it a bit difficult to find. Other riyals in the old city likely have the same issue, given that Fez's old city has over 9,000 alleyways—it's quite complex. Breakfast was a generous and refined meal per person, featuring three types of bread or local flatbreads, orange juice, fruit, yogurt, fried eggs, and coffee or tea. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Since we were driving, on our first day, the GPS led us to a restricted area, showing only 300 meters away. My husband parked there while I walked to find it, but at a fork in the road, the destination disappeared, replaced by two deep alleyways. A local asked me for 20 dirhams, but when I arrived, I discovered it wasn't the guesthouse I had booked, but another guesthouse also called Zamane. After much pleading, the staff led me to the Zamane I was looking for, located in a side alley. I noticed the sign said "Riad Zamane Maison d’hotes," not "Riad Zamane boutique & spa" on Ctrip. I wonder if that's why the directions weren't correct. The English-speaking manager was sick and didn't come to work that day, and didn't make proper arrangements. A special thank you to Ms. Nadia, who was in charge of housekeeping; she put down her work and walked with me to our parking spot, directing us to another road to park near the guesthouse. I also want to thank a handsome young man whose name starts with H (I forgot his full name) who helped us buy bottled water. He was always smiling and greeted us warmly; he was very friendly. I'd suggest that the guesthouse keep a few bottles of water in the rooms, at least one large bottle, as Fes is very dry and we desperately need them."

"It’s not a bad hotel, but its rooms are a bit old. I paid 1400D to ask for a normal double room and asked it to be “quite” but it’s not. The room locates right next to a main street so during the whole night you can hear endless cars, motors and police car alarms. The window fully closed yet blocked no noise. AC needs to be replaced to new one as it howling every few minutes like a diesel engine. The room is big and clean though. I had to wait for 25 minutes to check in. I don’t blame the staff as they were just too busy. They only have 3 people at the reception and they need to deal with frequent customer requirements, individual customers and tour groups at the same time! If this were just an ordinary 2–3 star hotel, I wouldn’t have much to complain about. However, for a resort charging 1,400 dirhams per night, this level of management and infrastructure really needs to be updated and improved."

Mourad especially went out if his way to help, much more than one had any reason to expect (thank you). Also, we ate in their restaurant at the end of our stay, the best meal of our trip, great service too, highly recommended."

We enjoyed the restaurant and breakfast so much that we signed up for the Moroccan cooking class. Cooking and laughing side-by-side with friendly, experienced chefs was fantastic. All the staff were helpful and attentive, which made for a truly memorable experience."

"It’s a lovely hotel and our ambassador suite room was very spacious. There were 2 bathrooms! The decor was very nice and the bed was really comfortable. The sitting area was large and beautiful too. The windows overlooked the pool area, which was quite. The shelves inside the wardrobe was dusty and the lighting was poor near the dressing area. We stayed for 2 nights and found the staff very helpful and polite. The buffet breakfast was average and didn’t have much Moroccan food. The salmon for dinner was nice. The desserts were delicious too. Highly recommend this hotel."

"I don’t want to leave! My husband and I leave tomorrow and frankly I’m ready. This was the best and most pleasurable stay! I arrived frantic and chaotic after a 7 hour drive (that’s another story) somehow I misplaced my passport and wasn’t able to appease my anxiety. The moment Abdul open the door to this majestic Riad I completely melted. Abdul was so kind, gentle and yet professional. His energy enabled me to calm down and reset. He offered us tea with cookies and for a couple of minutes I was able to unwind. I knew my passport was somewhere in my luggage and Abdul asked me to take my time. He’s genuine kindness and understanding allowed me to search through my belongings and I FOUND MY PASSPORT! Breakfast is delicious and vast. There’s so much to eat but I highly suggest the pistachio yogurt paired with fresh fruit and their jams slathered on Moroccos version of pancake/crepes. The orange blossom cakes are a chef’s kiss. The cleaning staff is amazing! I needed clothes laundered and they took care of it by giving me a basket 🧺 by my room. The next best thing was the Hammam with a massage. We were in heaven. Please book a massage you won’t regret it. We would stay here in a heart beat!"

My “room” (and I put that in quotes because it felt like a small apartment) was absolutely stunning. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and fun. You felt like you’ve actually been entertained in someone’s home; you really get to know the staff to the point of feeling sad to leave them. The service was kind and attentive without being intrusive. I would recommend this Riad to anyone with no reservation. Oh, and the resident tortoises were an added bonus!"

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An unexpected Moroccan traditional courtyard experience! ** The **Volubilis Hotel** that I stayed at in Fez this time was really great! The hotel is located in the old city of Medina, and it only takes 5 minutes to walk to the Blue Gate of Boujilou. The location is super convenient. As soon as I entered the door, I was amazed by the Moroccan traditional courtyard. The mosaic tiles and carved wooden doors are super atmospheric and beautiful for taking pictures! Special thanks to our Chinese tour guide **Director Lin (WeChat: **********)**, who helped to book a price cheaper than the platform and upgraded the suite for free! The room was very clean, the bedding was comfortable, and the terrace overlooked the panoramic view of the old city of Fez. Director Lin also recommended a super authentic tagine restaurant near the hotel, which was much better than the Internet celebrity restaurant! The hotel service is also very considerate. The front desk is fluent in English and helped arrange airport pick-up and local SPA. You must try the mint tea and honey pancakes for breakfast! If you come to Fez, I strongly recommend staying here. Find Director Lin (WeChat as above) to book and you can also get a desert group coupon, which is super cost-effective!"

"The interior of the building is stunning, and you are soon welcomed with some tea by the very hospitable Ayoub. Although it can be slightly daunting to make your way through the narrow alleys to find it, especially at night, you quickly get the hang of it. In fact it is just a few minute walk from the car park, and just 100 meters from the start of the market, so the location couldn’t be better. And we didn’t feel unsafe at all. You don’t hear the noise of the market, despite its proximity, but you do not have much intimacy, which is the reason I give it 4 rather than 5 stars. Our bedroom, was directly off the breakfast/dining area, and while it meant we had no staircase to compete with, we had no windows or natural light, and could hear the hustle and bustle from other guests. That said, Ayoub was super helpful, and really obliging. When we asked for restaurant recommendations, he would not only book a table, but also have someone collect us and accompany us in both directions. Also in terms of helping us getting transportation from train station or to airport. Very charismatic and full of fun, he helped make our stay very special."

"WOW! This was an absolutely incredible experience! Aziza was truly incredible and took such good care of us during our stay. The riad is lovely - from the guest room to the indoor courtyard. But the true gem of this place is the rooftop terrace. It is peace away from the craziness of the medina with an impeccable view. Breakfast was a true treat on the terrace overlooking the city and of course - Aziza made everything extra special! The location is wonderful - only 5 minutes walk from the Blue Gate.
