The biggest surprise of my Dali trip wasn't the ancient city or Erhai Lake, but this forest B&B nestled halfway up Cangshan Mountain 🌿. As we drove up from the city, the urban hustle and bustle slowly faded, replaced by lush greenery and the sound of pine trees swaying in the wind. 🌄 **The Rooftop is Pure Soul:** I was absolutely stunned the moment I stepped onto the rooftop – the nineteen peaks of Cangshan Mountain stood behind me like a majestic screen, with the entire Erhai Lake and scattered Bai ethnic villages stretching out below. The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple were faintly visible. In the morning, drawing back the curtains revealed a sea of rolling clouds. In the evening, I'd sit on the swing chair on the terrace, watching the sunset paint Erhai Lake a honeyed gold 🍯. At night, a glance upwards showed the Milky Way so clearly it brought tears to my eyes ✨. 🌿 **Immersive Mountain Living:** Hydrangeas were in full bloom in the courtyard, and dappled sunlight filtered through the treetops onto the wooden floors. The natural wood-toned room had floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, making it feel like sleeping right in the forest 🌲. There were also three resident cats, each with their own unique personality, taking turns on patrol. Heartwarming Service but Disappointing Room Layout & Location 1. Amazing Staff Support: • As foreigners without Chinese phone numbers, we couldn't rent the ”Snoopy” electric cars. The staff went above and beyond, using their own accounts to scan, pay, and even remotely lock/unlock the cars for us throughout the day. They even handled the return process when there were technical issues. • Flexible Service: They were kind enough to serve breakfast at 8:00 AM (30 minutes earlier than scheduled) to accommodate our early plans. ＞＞＞ The staff here are the biggest plus. They were incredibly welcoming, enthusiastic, and supported us throughout our stay in Dali. Whether it was helping with our heavy luggage or providing local recommendations, their hospitality was genuine and much appreciated. 2. Room Layout: Not as Expected We booked a ”2-bedroom suite,” but it was actually two separate rooms with private entrances and no shared indoor area. The second room was extremely small; with two large suitcases open, there was almost no space to move. The photos on the listing were quite misleading regarding this separate layout. 3. Location & Accessibility The homestay is in a quiet, isolated area with no shops or restaurants within walking distance. You have to take a taxi for everything (5–30 mins to major attractions), which adds significant costs to your trip. ===＞ While the people here are wonderful, the high price doesn't quite match the room's convenience and location. Best suited for those who don't mind taking taxis and want a quiet stay.

This homestay is definitely the best choice for my trip to Dali! The environment is quiet and elegant, the courtyard design is full of ingenuity, and the boss's intentions are all in the grass and wood. The location of the homestay is quiet, parking is super convenient, and there is no need to worry about self-driving. The most surprising thing is the quiet atmosphere here, there is no noise, and the night is accompanied by the breeze to sleep, which is particularly comfortable. The room details are even more perfect! Smart toilet, soft and comfortable shower, high-quality spare parts, everywhere reflect the care for the needs of the guests. The whole homestay is spotless from the corridor to the guest rooms, and this meticulousness is touching. The boss is warm and caring, warm like a friend, and always gives the most authentic travel advice. If you come to Dali, don't miss this treasure homestay, believe me I will definitely want to come again after staying!

We loved our stay here. This place feels like such a relaxing retreat, it’s so peaceful , especially with the rooms looking into the beautiful courtyard. Loved the plants and the decor of this place. The rooms are big ans comfortable and there’s even a projector! The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us with some travel arrangements we were trying to make. Would recommend this place! Wish I could spend more time here just to relax.

First off, the hotel's location is incredible, right on Cang'er Avenue. From the road, you have the majestic Cangshan Mountains on one side and Erhai Lake on the other. The views are absolutely stunning! You don't need to rush for a good photo spot; just step out leisurely, and even backlit shots have an amazing vibe – any random spot on the roadside looks like a scene from a movie! Shared electric scooters are available right outside the hotel, and you can reach the South Gate of Dali Ancient City in just 10 minutes. Ride-sharing services make it super convenient to get to the Cangshan Cableway, the Erhai Lake shore, and Xizhou Ancient Town. 🌿 The hotel is newly opened, and the facilities are fantastic! The electric curtains, mini-bar, and smart toilet in the room are all super convenient to use. My favorite spot was the small balcony – just sitting there, enjoying the breeze, and relaxing was so blissful I didn't want to leave! 😃 🌿 The hotel breakfast is a buffet, and the spread of Chinese and Western options is incredibly rich. You can pile up on local 'erkuai' and rice noodles, plus there's fresh fruit and hot dishes. Eat your fill, then head out for more adventures! 🌊

We had a wonderful stay at Dali Wanggong Hotel. The hotel’s design is elegant, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing. Our room included a lovely children’s tatami bed, which our child absolutely loved—it made the stay even more special for our family. One of our favorite moments was sitting on the balcony in the afternoon, enjoying a glass of wine while taking in the peaceful atmosphere. It was the perfect way to unwind. A special thank you to the wonderful concierge team—Xiaoyin, Xiaoxu, Xiaomin, and Xiaohang. They were all incredibly friendly, attentive, and always went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. Their warm hospitality truly made us feel welcome. During our stay, the hotel was preparing for a wedding, and the setting looked absolutely stunning. It made us think that this would be an incredibly romantic venue for a wedding. We highly recommend Dali Wanggong Hotel to anyone visiting Dali and would love to stay here again in the future!

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! I'll definitely choose it again next time I'm in Dali. As someone who's very particular about cleanliness, I was completely satisfied with the hygiene. The environment is also wonderful; our room had large French windows with a beautiful view of the flowers and greenery outside. The service was exceptional too; the staff were all incredibly warm and friendly, making us feel very comfortable. On our last night, we were told that the alarm bell was accidentally triggered, and they even gave us a souvenir as an apology – though we hadn't heard a thing, we were sleeping so soundly! 🤣 The little gift was also very thoughtful, including a cute elephant, a fridge magnet, and two packs of roses! The hotel's location is excellent. Although it's not inside the Ancient City, it's not far – about a 20-minute walk to the South Gate. However, the advantage is the great environment and tranquility, plus it's convenient for taking taxis. A taxi to the South Gate of the Ancient City costs around 11 yuan, and we primarily used taxis, so it was perfect for us! Previously, when we stayed inside the Ancient City in Lijiang, I actually found it less convenient. One day, during a heavy downpour, taxis could only drop us off at the city gate, and we had to walk back to our guesthouse in the rain. Staying outside means taxis can drop you directly at the hotel entrance. Finally, I'd say for Lijiang and Dali, it's always better to choose a hotel over a guesthouse; guesthouses often fall short in many aspects. 😅

Overall, my stay here was incredibly comfortable. The hotel boasts excellent scenery and is very quiet, offering a sense of escape that was perfect for me. The afternoon tea and breakfast were both very impressive and lavish. I also received a room upgrade, which was spacious and very pleasant to stay in. It feels like the hotel is aiming for a 'wilderness luxury' vibe, and both the aesthetics and environment are spot on. There's a fantastic activity space in the hotel where you can practice calligraphy, which I personally loved. However, I do have a small suggestion: for a space dedicated to quiet contemplation like this, perhaps some rules regarding quietness are needed. For instance, whether young children are suitable to enter, or if they do, to maintain quietness. Otherwise, if it's noisy while someone is trying to practice calligraphy, it can somewhat impact the experience. I also want to specifically commend the driver who took me to the airport; their service was excellent. In fact, all the staff I encountered were quite dedicated, perhaps because it's a new opening, everyone is very serious about their work. As it's a new hotel, the cleanliness is currently very well maintained. However, with wooden structures like these rooms, future maintenance will be crucial. I hope it continues to be well-maintained, and I'll definitely be back! 😊

Traveling with my family of four in March, we chose this hotel and had a fantastic stay! The front desk lady was incredibly helpful. On our first night, she even upgraded our room for free to ensure our comfort. The new room was huge, with excellent natural light, making it feel warm and cozy in the afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full-length mirror too – a big thank you for that! 🙏 This hotel is definitely worth choosing for a family trip. And the hotel's cat, Soy Sauce, is so clever and adorable; my kids loved playing with her every morning.

This guesthouse is a hidden gem; it truly felt like a home away from home. I forgot to take pictures of the room, but even though it wasn't huge, it was incredibly cozy. The bedding was so comfortable – I hadn't slept well for several nights in other cities, but I slept wonderfully here. The entire room's decor, including the appliances, wood, and bedding, all felt very high-quality; you can tell the owner has excellent taste. When you check in, they create a group chat for communication, which is perfect for introverts like me. The breakfast was plentiful and on the lighter side, gently waking up your stomach before you dive into Yunnan's spicy cuisine. In the particularly sunny afternoons, you can come back and relax with afternoon tea. I expected just a simple tea, but it was surprisingly elaborate! I'll definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Dali.
