"Ranscombe House was perfect for our needs , we only stayed for one night we arrived a bit early and asked to leave the car at their car park which was ok. Went into town which isn’t that far away. Pip was a great host the room was perfect very clean and comfortable, breakfast was very tasty and plenty of choice. We had a free upgrade and the view from the midships room are great. Overall we had a great stay and will definitely be back. Thank you Pip for making making us feel at home."

"New Year's Eve party - We had a fantastic experience here! The food was absolutely excellent — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was delicious. The owners, Mark and Emily, are incredibly welcoming and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made us feel right at home. The staff were also outstanding — friendly, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. You both made 2026 an amazing one x You can really feel the warm atmosphere and pride behind this place. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back!"

"Revisiting Brixham, we had such a lovely experience staying at Driftwood B&B. Very comfortable, great breakfast and great views! Zoe and Keith are very welcoming and homely. Driftwood is very close to the harbour and shops. As you leave the front door, turn right and right again and within 3 minutes you are in the middle of the harbourside! Brilliant!"

"The feeling you get at Ranscombe house from the minute you arrive is that this is a warm and friendly place and that much attention to detail has gone into creating that. We were met by host Pip who showed us around and made sure we knew we could contact him if there was anything we needed. Toffees in the hallway, two small but comfortable lounge areas downstairs, hot drinks in the bedroom, an honesty bar in the dining room and an invitation to make ourselves at home, were all appreciated. We had a very clean room with the most comfortable bed and lovely bedding. Walking in to the room to a sea view at sunset was magical as was waking up to it in the morning. …As was starting the day with a, beautifully cooked to order, large choice hot breakfast and accompanying choices of cereals etc.. We were also really impressed with how warm, thoughtful, kind and friendly the two members of staff we met at breakfast, Jo and Grant, were too. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Sensitive too to some of us not being very awake in the morning. They both appeared as if they enjoyed their work and genuinely want you to relax and enjoy your stay. The B&B is very well situated. An easy walk into town and the harbour, yet quiet enough to hear the birds in the morning. A huge bonus was the off road car park and as Pip warned us about parking under the bird tree, the car stayed clean and safe there. Should we return to Brixham we would most definitely stay at Ranscombe House."

"Had an amazing meal at the smugglers. The chef Curtis showed us the different steaks and talked us through each one. I had the ribeye steak which I asked it to be cooked bleu, it was perfect and up there with the best I’ve ever had. All the team were lovely and friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit."

"A must stay for couples! The view was incredible (you can see in the photos below)! We also had a fantastic meal at The Rockfish restaurant, and the hotel’s location couldn’t be more convenient for all the shops/bars/restaurants in the harbour. The parking provided by the hotel was at the harbour itself, and was very convenient. We used self check-in, it was so quick and easy we could just get on with our short trip and waste no time! At breakfast we had the pleasure of meeting the owners, aside from the delicious (made to order) breakfast, the service was incredible. Highly recommend!"

"Such a good choice of place to stay: recommended by Headwater, as we were doing one of their walking holidays. We could not have found better! Our stay began with a welcome chat, lots of information, and glass of cider or Nathalie's elderflower fizz; this set the scene for two comfortable nights. Superb harbour view, nicely furnished rooms and lots of Breton and sea-faring touches everywhere. If you had mobility problems, the stairs are a bit steep and narrow, and of course lots of steps up from the town. Difficult to add more words to the other reviews about the breakfasts. Herve and Nathalie just excel! And their restaurant recommendations were also spot on. We would certainly consider another visit...and NB that Herve and Nathalie also have a two-bedroom self-catering cottage available nearby. Merci infiniment Nathalie et Herve!"
