"This place has polarizing reviews.. After going there, I understand why. The facilities and services are good. You can use the swimming pool, washer and dryer (performance is poor), sauna and spa for free, and although the building structure is unique (1st and 8th floor reception, 2 elevator transfers, etc.), it's okay if you get used to it. We couldn't find the way by taxi, so we climbed the hill with our suitcases, but the reception on the first floor is near the spar mart. They were friendly, but the air conditioner was broken so I called twice and they didn't come so I just gave up. This place is in the middle of the old town, so I actually made a reservation based on the location, but it's literally in the middle of the club street, so even if you're inside the accommodation, you'll be staying at the concert hall all night long. There's no soundproofing, so you have to enjoy it together until 5 a.m. The noise is another level, as foreign reviews say. I’m traveling around the world, but this place is really ambiguous haha. The breakfast isn’t bad, but it’s just ambiguous… . Personally, I think it would be less noisy and better if it wasn't just in this alley because it's Albupay!!"

"This is by far the best hostel I stayed at, in spite of the number of occupants. I was lucky to have very quiet boys in the room. There’s only one bathroom, connected to the room, but it worked. The hostel is new, modern and spotless. The owner is very friendly. The hostel is also 5 minutes walk from the beach. It was perfect. It’s a long walk to Albufeira from the city buses, and not very clear where the FlixBus stops. I wouldn’t recommend walking from the train station, which took me 4 hours. There’s a local bus, don’t scrimp = TAKE IT. Or take an Uber, or Bolt. Or ask the taxi what he wants to charge from the bus stop at the train station ! The RedeExpress is where the bus station is (but not for the FlixBus). In summary, you can go to Albufeira by FlixBus, but it’s difficult to know where FlixBus leaves Albufeira from. That all said, Albufeira is very difficult in high season, TOO CROWDED, but the Portuguese are tolerant and very patient because they know that tourism is lucrative and has raised the whole country out of poverty. Residents enjoy cheap and / or free public transport on local buses (cheap monthly passes). Residents are respectful and kind. You can practice your Portuguese with them for a laugh, but they all speak English to varying degrees. Here you can meet real residents. On the beach, not necessarily in the pubs. I loved it here. Don’t miss it."

"The property is dated and in need of renovation, especially the rooms and the pool. There's no hairdryer in the rooms, but you can request one at reception. The rooms need updating; they're really bare; a little paint on the walls and a few colorful paintings would be enough. The velvet runners and cushions are now outdated and useless, having been immediately thrown into the closet. In the bathroom, the toilet paper is so soft it crumbles in your hand, especially when the steam builds up when you turn on the hot water. There are two sun terraces, each furnished with loungers. The terraces felt abandoned to me; if there were umbrellas and tables and someone would come by every now and then to bring towels and ask if you needed anything, it would certainly be a different story. The pool also lacks umbrellas. Furthermore, our room was on the same floor as the pool. Unfortunately, we had to keep the curtain closed at all times, otherwise other guests could look into our room. We also had to turn on the light even in broad daylight, otherwise we couldn't see anything. I suggest adding a light curtain in addition to the blackout curtain, which would block out prying eyes but let in light. It would also be a good idea to renovate the rooms, bathroom, and hallways. It's a shame, because the reception area, with its light green walls and round sofa, is very nice. The breakfast area is okay, but unfortunately, there's no variety. Besides cooked ham, perhaps other cured meats could be rotated. Also, add hard-boiled or brown eggs, lactose-free milk and yogurt, some cheeses, change the flavors of jams, add chocolate spread, waffles instead of pancakes, etc. There is a bar, but it's never used by anyone, which is a shame. The staff has always been extremely kind and helpful. I remember Carolina's smile as she checked us in and explained everything to us with a map in hand. A male colleague, also very smiley, kindly provided me with a hairdryer that evening. The breakfast ladies were also very helpful, and once they let us in even though we arrived late. I'm still giving it a high rating, so as not to penalize anyone, but I'm confident that the feedback will help us improve."

"We travelled as a family of four with 2 children 9 and 11 and really enjoyed our time at this hotel. The hotel is in a quiet area with a few restaurants and bars within walking distance. There are a couple of beaches nearby (Praia do Evaristo and Praia do Castelo) both with restaurants and well worth a visit. I would recommend hiring a car, there is ample free parking available. We stayed in a family suite with twin beds in one room and a king in the other. Each had its own door but were accessed by a single door at the front which could be locked and created a bit of additional storage space. The rooms were small but perfectly adequate. Ritual toiletries were provided, and the rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily. There is a small fridge but no bottle openers in the rooms. We stayed half board and the food and service was beyond our expectations. Everything was freshly cooked, and the restaurant area was spotless. In the evening’s salad, soups, vegetables and fresh meat / fish were offered as well as fruit, cheeses and a variety of desserts. The staff were great, even bringing salt for the poached eggs at breakfast without being asked. One slight disappointment was that the main pool isn't heated and was really cold. There is a heated pool on the roof terrace, but you had to be 16+ to access this. The hotel seemed to attract couples rather than families however, we had a great time and would definitely return."

"We used our Maui Timeshare as trade for our vacation exchange for Vila Gale Atlantico. Very nice location and property. Although I did not anticipate using 7 days and only used 5 days due to our schedule, the room we had was very good. Lots of room, service was great, bar and restaurant were also good. Very nicely equipped convenience store few blocks away. I would stay again at this property, but likely not in November due to weather which was not real cold, but not warm enough to enjoy the beach."
