Excellent highly enjoyable hotel at the perfect location right in front of the Hakata Station. The hotel's service is way better than some other big brand hotels in Fukuoka. The amenities in the room and around the hotel are at top quality. It is quiet inside the hotel despite next to the busy area. The breakfast buffet and the cafe are also very nice and must try. The only suggestion to the hotel is please also include handwash in the bathroom on top of the hard soap.
We choice this hotel because of its location. Nice rooms, not too small as in Osaka and Kyoto. Kind stuff and good onsen. We had a good time there. I recommend itđđ»

The staff at this hotel were polite and very helpful throughout my stay, which made me feel welcome. The breakfast buffet selection was quite limited, but the food tasted good and was of nice quality.
I also appreciated that the lobby had sufficient seating, making it a comfortable place to rest or wait. One small suggestion for improvement would be to provide an extra pillow in the single rooms, which would add to the overall comfort.
However, the safe in my room was not functioning during my stay, which was a little inconvenient.

The location of the hotel was further from the station than expected, even if you use the nearest one at West 24. Since I'm not taking the train to get to the airport after checkout, it does not matter much.
I must compliment the counter staff, Meng, for helping me to check with the luggage service provider as well as my former hotel as my luggage did not arrive in time during my check in. It was a panicky situation for a solo female traveller, especially when I was due for a morning flight the following day.
Onsen facilities are great, there is even an onsite sauna. As the onsen is separately run, you don't have to bring towel from your room to the onsen.
Breakfast is great too, with several options from the buffet line.
Location is 30mins drive from fukuoka. 6000yen from Hakata station or Tenjin area. Excellent hotel. The hot spring closes at 11pm and opens in the morning. Hot tub for both men and women looks the same with stone work tub. Stayed for two nights. The breakfast is absolutely amazing and is different every morning delivered straight to room!!! Kudos for the friendly staff and great accommodations
My second trip to Yanagawa was just as wonderful as the first. I enjoyed the hotel's outdoor hot spring twice, once in the morning and once in the evening, and had it all to myself both times. My skin felt incredibly smooth afterwards. Both breakfast and dinner offered a great variety and tasted delicious. Transportation was also quite convenient, with a bus stop right outside the hotel providing direct service to Yanagawa Station. The only minor navigational confusion we had upon arrival was that the bus stop for getting to the hotel was actually near the tourist information center, but our navigation app guided us to alight on the opposite side of Yanagawa Station.
I stayed in the main building, not the new building, so the room was relatively small and the facilities were not new. But the price was affordable, the location was convenient, and the cost performance was high. It was a good choice for traveling alone. The breakfast was very rich!
I originally booked this hotel by mistake but was pleasantly surprised by some aspects of my stay. Tthe location was quite far from Fukuoka, where I had intended to stay for a concert.
I arrived at the hotel around 11:30 AMâ12 PM after an early morning flight, unaware that check-in wasnât until 3 PM. When I approached the front desk, the receptionistâa young girlâgave me a strange look before informing me of the check-in time. The lack of warmth in her greeting was disappointing, especially compared to my experiences at other hotels in Japan.
The weather on February 6, the day of my arrival, was harshâit was very windy as it was cold, and I had to walk from Seto bus stop to the hotel with two suitcases in freezing conditions. Exhausted from my flight and journey to Munakata, I had hoped for a more welcoming atmosphere. Instead, after a brief trip to a nearby Lawson to grab food, I returned to the hotel and waited in the lobby, as it was too cold to explore.
By 2 PM, fatigue took over, and I lay down on the lobby couch to rest. Despite dozing off in the cold lobby, no staff member approached me. The heating system inside the hotel was weak, and I kept waking up from the biting cold. At 2:30 PM, I heard guests checking in, which surprised meâno one had informed me that I could start checking in earlier.
When I lined up at the front desk, the same receptionist from earlier recognized me but seemed to push her colleague forward to assist me, which I found rude and unprofessional for a staff member at a four-star hotel. However, her colleague was kind and attentive. Since I speak Japanese, the check-in process went smoothly.
There was an error on my part regarding my bookingâI had mistakenly reserved my stay until February 10 instead of February 9. I explained this at the front desk, and the staff member tried to help but apologized, as the booking was made through a third-party site and couldnât be refunded. I understood this and simply wanted to inform them of my earlier departure.
The hotel itself is old but well-maintained. I stayed in a Japanese-style room, which, despite its age, was clean and comfortable. The air-conditioning unit was quite old, but amenities were available on the first floor. The hotel seems to be popular with families or tour groups. There are a lot of Korean guests as well. Even for a business hotel, customer service toward foreign solo travelers was severly lacking. It's embarassing to think that was the kind of training they gave their employees at a four star hotel. I'm writing this review while staying at Comfort Hotel, a cheaper chain of hotel but the omotenashi I received here is on another level.
There isnât much to do nearby Mercure Munakata. The closest kaisendon restaurant was about a 30-minute walk away. Unfortunately, the weather during my stay was terribleâwindy and snowyâso I didnât explore much. There was a church (?) next to the hotel, but nothing else of note.
One of the highlights of the stay was the hot spring, which had both indoor and outdoor baths. I didnât eat at the hotel restaurant, as the prices seemed high.
A free shuttle bus is available to Togo Station, but you need to inform the front desk of your preferred departure time in advance.
I didnât take many photos of the hotel itselfâthere wasnât much worth capturing besides the bath, where phones arenât allowed.
Would I stay here again? No.
Would I recommend this hotel? No, especially not for solo foreign travelers.
The Room with Japanese Garden located on Ground floor overlooking a magnificent indoor well curated and groomed Japanese Garden from the tatami floored Living room area and balcony seating area where guests can relax and enjoy with a peaceful mind. At nite they even have flood lights!
The room is spacious in 3 pax unit. Public bath is nice and clean but close so early at 9PM!! The breakfast was decently delicious and simple. Staff serving breakfast was kind and friendly.
The front desk staffs were nice and check out time is strictly 10AM and any extra quarter or half hour will be charged accordingly!! Thatâs sadâŠ

The room was excellent, and the rooftop hot spring bath was a fantastic bonus. The staff were incredibly friendly and spoke great English, even patiently understanding my rather poor Japanese. With its convenient location and a wonderfully comfortable sleep, I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more.

GGuest UserThe hotel offer great amenities. The onsen is great & is a nice surprise. We enjoyed the free ramen, ice cream bars and yakult, especially after the hot bath. There is also washing machines with washing liquid for use for free. The price of the room is a bargain considering the free amenities. The location of the hotel is very convenient with a subway entrance just in front of the hotel!
GGuest UserI was packing my bicycle in a box in the lobby and Priyanka from the front desk was a huge help by providing a scale and finding a van driver to get me and my massive box there without being a sweaty mess. I am very grateful for the service, kindness and hospitality i was shown. I would 100% stay here again next time I go to Japan. They are located less than .4 miles from the airport and there is 24hr McDonalds and Lawson next door. I would recommend this place as a first stay in Japan.Â
P.S. If any upper management is reading this, Priyanka deserves a raise for going above and beyond for looking at bus schedules etc. without asking. You want people like her in your business.

GGuest UserThough location is a little far but the free shuttle bus to and fro Orio station made is super convenient for an onsen retreat. There's a direct bus from Kitakyushu Airport to Orio station too, which makes it even better. Thankfully, the staff kindly took note of the shuttle reservation request made during booking, otherwise, it would have been very inconvenient to contact them and expensive to get to the resort by other means. They left a note to check the official website for pick-up point but there was no specific information - something that can be improved. The location was found to be BEHIND Maxvalue Shop (see first few photos). The resort is visited by mainly locals so it was helpful to see and ask them for confirmation.
Facilities might a bit old but generally clean so it was okay. The room is nice and comfortable, particularly the view. It was very nice to see the hotel using reusable wares with even a refillable jug to get water from a machine at the shared space. Both sides of the natural onsen is switched between male and female everyday. Supper tantan noodles is great! Breakfast is not bad with both fusion western style and traditional Japanese options. It was a very nice and relaxing time!

GGuest UserI stayed with my child, but the semi-double bed was comfortable and the illuminated Iwato Bridge was visible from the room up close, which was very beautiful. There was also a large public bath, so we could relax and it was great value for money. I would like to use it again.

GGuest UserI went on a family trip. The staff were friendly, the hotel was lobby, the garden and it was so pretty!! Dinner and breakfast were all delicious and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. It was a very pleasant memory. I was worried that it was cheap, but it was giraffe.
