Hostels in Gansu, China

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the hostel. Its just too bad that nobody told me that I had to buy toilet paper. Also it's not allowed to take a shower after midnight. The staff was friendly and helpful. The common area quite cosy. The upper bed of the bunk bed I had was not really convenient. I didn't have my own lamp (like the other beds) and I would wake up everytime someone would turn up the main light. I would recommend to ask for the lower bunk. The location is good. Walking distance to the main attractions in the city center. I would still recommend this hostel :)

I booked a bed in the female dormitory for 2 nights, my friends booked other beds/rooms. The hostel has all the necessary amenities. There is even a washing machine if you need to do laundry. The bedding was fresh and clean. Plenty of sockets for charging devices. You will need to bring your own shower gel for the shower and the toilets are squat toilets which is standard in China. Met a lovely German girl while staying here. The host is a lovely and very helpful woman, she assisted us with any queries and even gave us some watermelon while we waited for our driver. If you want to visit any of the popular tourist spots in the Zhangye area she can organise a car tour for you and very reasonable prices- all very easy through WeChat. I visited the rainbow mountains/Zhangye National Geopark/Zhangye Danxia Geopark (张掖国家地质公园) and Mati Si temple (马蹄寺) while in Zhangye. The hostel is in a very good location too. The common area is nice and there is a tea station where you can help yourself to a cup of tea. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would stay here again.

This hostel is really lovely. The owners are so friendly and helpful. There are a lot of personal touches in the common areas, especially in the large sitting room. There’s space for washing and drying clothes, as well as filtered water available. I had a room with private bath, that was nicely appointed with lots of thoughtful details. I would certainly stay here again!

This is a special hostel where you can meet camels nearby and admire the sand dunes at any time! The view of the sand dunes from the rooftop was beautiful. The common areas were also stylish and relaxing. The area around the hostel is dark at night, and there may be camel droppings on the ground, so be careful. Other than that, I highly recommend it!

For a start, it is now called the Herdsman Lodge. It is up one flight of steps from the street, no lift. Someone has obviously spent a fair amount of time and attention on the look of the place, but there are some things which would make staying here a better experience. The beds in the capsule are really hard (worse than on a Chinese train) and squeal every time you move. The capsules themselves look nice, but some of the plastic is a bit flimsy. They did supply toilet paper, but if you don't like squat toilets, you're out of luck. The shower cubicles are tiny, I don't know how to shower without getting my clothes wet. There is a drinks fridge, but no drinks are in it, and no water is supplied or available. The water boiler in the kitchen runs out at some stage in the evening. Big tip: turn left out the door, go to the intersection, turn left and cross the road - the #4 bus goes to the Great Wall Scenic area, where you can see the fort, but not the wall.

I was in such a hurry to catch the train that I forgot to take pictures The location is very close to Lanzhou Station. When you exit the station, take an L-shaped intersection and walk 300 meters to get there. The sign with the name of the hotel is relatively large and obvious. When you enter the alley, take the elevator. When you get to the 3rd floor, you have to turn around and take the elevator. Go to the 9th floor. The environment is okay. It's non-smoking indoors. The smoking area is in the corridor at the entrance. The cleaning lady is very diligent. After checking in, there is a small spiral staircase to the second floor. There are girls' rooms, space capsules, and public bathrooms and toilets. The sink is on the second floor. The toilet is a pit and shower together. The sink is on the opposite side. The windows in the room are well ventilated and bright. There is a small lockable cabinet (the size of a backpack). The price is quite affordable. When I was choosing, I looked at almost all the youth hostels nearby. After staying here, I felt pretty good.

Lady boss is incredibly friendly and we had a great time together eating and chatting. Location is right outside the ancient city and walking distance to the museum. You would have to take a cab here.

Very good. Since I arrived in Lanzhou late, I don’t know much about entering the community. The landlord even remotely guided me how to get in late at night. I’m so sorry. The landlord is very nice. I can’t describe it better. The environment is also very good. Yes, it’s quiet and not noisy, you can have a good sleep, it’s very tidy, and it’s a five-star review!

The hygiene is very good, the environment is good, and the service attitude is very good. I give it a five-star rating. There is everything around, it is convenient to go out and eat, there is a supermarket downstairs, and there are many buses. The pedestrian street is also very close, the night market is particularly lively, and you can just walk to Zhongshan Bridge.

The location is good, it's close to Lanzhou Station and the subway station, the price is not expensive, the living experience is also very good, good value for money, it's a good place to stop for one night
