The room was very clean and spacious. The owner speaks English, which was helpful. The map he provided was excellent; all the restaurants recommended on it were fantastic.
Since it's a guesthouse and not a hotel, only essential amenities are provided. The shared kitchen was a convenient feature.
As of June 2026, there was construction in the surrounding area and the roads weren't fully paved. When I tried to leave the guesthouse, my Yandex Go rides were canceled twice because they couldn't reach the property. It's recommended to book a taxi from near the main road (about a 5-minute walk) or from Registan Square (about a 15-minute walk). This was a bit inconvenient, but it should be fine once the construction is finished.
Overall, I highly recommend it because it's very affordable, especially since accommodations in Samarkand can be quite expensive.
Here's what I remember about the room amenities:
**Provided in the room:**
* Hair dryer
* Hangers
* Towels (not replaced during my 3-night stay)
* Shampoo
* Soap
**Not provided in the room:**
* Razor
* Toothbrush
* Kettle (available in the shared kitchen)
* Bottled water
The service was excellent, and the hotel was in excellent condition. The staff was responsive. Unfortunately, the maid was sick on the last day, so they couldn't clean the room, but I'm not a pig, so it's not a big deal. The breakfast menu was excellent. Importantly, the coffee from the coffee machine was decent, which is a rarity in Uzbekistan.
The hostel is located in the Old Town, which is convenient as the bus stop is only a 3-minute walk away. However, it's situated in a small alley, and there's a stretch of road without streetlights when returning from the main square, which felt a bit unsafe at night.
The owner was always helpful in solving various issues, for example, when I wanted to boil a couple of eggs in the morning.
There's a water dispenser available in the common area, which is handy.
The day before I checked in, guests reported no hot water, initially thinking it was due to late-night usage. The next day, it was still cold. When asked, the owner said a circuit breaker had tripped. Once fixed, the water was very hot, so it's important to report any problems promptly.
It was advertised as a 4-bed dorm, but it was actually a 5-bed dorm, which was quite a surprise. The owner claimed it couldn't be changed on the platform, a reason I found hard to accept. Even if the main listing couldn't be altered, they could have added a note in the remarks section. Otherwise, it feels like deception, especially for a 'non-refundable' booking where no money is returned. This was the case for both the female and male dorms.
With many guests staying, the cleanliness of the common areas struggled to keep up.
Also, I didn't seem to find any lockable personal lockers.
The owner, who uses a wheelchair, runs this hostel, which is commendable, and the price is good. However, the issues mentioned above do exist. Luckily, I only stayed for one night as a stopover.
The location is convenient. The owner arranged a room on 3/F and he helped me to carry the luggage upstairs. The room with double doors so the sound insulation is good. The carpets are pretty. Can watch YouTube and Netflix on TV. Air-con, hair dryer, shampoo, body wash and toothbrush are provided. I wish to use the kettle but I can’t find proper socket except near the bed and under hair dryer in toilet. I found some ants in the corner. Water pressure is strong enough for showering and flushing. After checkout, luggage storage is available.
Everything was great! Right next to Registan.
The place is beautiful. Nice, clean rooms with everything you need.
Delicious breakfast at the time you specify.
The host is very friendly, attentive to all your needs, and very helpful.
I would recommend it without hesitation; I was going for 2 nights and we stayed 3…
I couldn't meet the owner unless I called at the entrance, but he will rushed to me immediately. Very nice person. The courtyard is nice. The bathroom is large. It takes time to get hot water, but I took a warm shower. The atmosphere was very good so I want to stay again. And the location is great. It is very convenient because you can go within walking distance such as Registan Square.
I was traveling alone. I arrived from Bukhara by overnight train using Yndex Go. The building was at the end of a dark street. Even though it was late at night, around 7:30 pm, I was touched by the welcoming atmosphere.
They asked what time I wanted breakfast, so I requested 8 am.
It took courage to go out at that time, but I walked to Registan Square.
I could see the blue mosque building against the sky and headed towards it.
The breathtaking full view of the illuminated mosque was beautiful.
The walk back to the hotel was a bit dark, but not a problem.
It's a good location for visiting several mausoleums on foot early every morning.
When I ate in the courtyard, small children came out, which was adorable.
The mother and grandfather couldn't speak the language, but they were very kind.
The landlord's son speaks excellent English, making communication easy. The breakfast was also plentiful.
The room was very quiet with the windows closed, and the air conditioning cooled down quickly. There are many local pilaf and baked bun shops nearby, perfect for those who enjoy exploring local life. The locals are very friendly.
The courtyard was very comfortable, with many plants and birds, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decorations in every corner of the room were thoughtful, showing that the owners are people who love life.
This guesthouse also offers pilaf making workshops. If you're traveling in a group or want to experience making pilaf in a large pot, you can contact the owner in advance to make a reservation. The aroma is wonderful just walking by!
This guesthouse offers good service at a reasonable price, with more advantages than disadvantages:
Advantages: The staff at the front desk were patient and enthusiastic, spoke fluent English, and provided electronic stay vouchers. Overall, the service was excellent. They even folded and hung up our clothes neatly while cleaning the room. We mentioned a problem with the shower drain and towel replacement on our second day, and it was resolved immediately. Breakfast was served in the courtyard; the oatmeal porridge and pumpkin dumplings were delicious, and there was a variety of fruits—not large, but with a good selection.
Disadvantages: The location is slightly out of the way, in what feels like an urban village (?). Taxis had to navigate through dark alleys, and there didn't seem to be any shops nearby. Another issue was that while the courtyard was relatively quiet, the soundproofing in the rooms was poor. Two nights we heard loud music playing from a neighboring wedding celebration (?) late at night, which was really noisy.

HHami NguyenThis guest house is a wonderful budget-friendly option in Samarkand. It’s conveniently located near the city center, only about 2 km from Registan Square and other major attractions, making it very easy to get around. The room rates are affordable, with options for 2 or 4 guests, which is perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends.
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. The host is incredibly kind, gentle, and always willing to help with anything you need. One of the highlights was the homemade breakfast prepared by the family — generous, delicious, and offering a wide variety of dishes each morning.
For easier navigation or when booking a taxi, it’s best to search for “Bilol Hotel” on Google Maps.
Wishing this lovely guest house continued success and many more happy guests in the future!
GGuest UserThe location is convenient for transportation. Taxi drops you off at the entrance to a fast food cafe, which is also the guesthouse entrance. The downside is street noise: with the windows open, it's loud during the day, but even at night, the sound of passing cars can disrupt your sleep. The sights are within walking distance. There are plenty of local food options nearby, but there are no European-style cafes, restaurants, or grocery stores. The rooms vary in state of repair. I stayed on the second floor in a decent double room. The third floor has a window facing the opposite side, toward the construction site. It should be quieter there. I didn't turn on the air conditioning. I only use it if the interior is spotlessly clean. There's a laundry room and a shared refrigerator. Breakfast is nominal. The owner is accommodating.
GGolandI want to express my gratitude to the staff for their wonderful service and accommodations🇺🇿🫶
We checked into our room early without any problems, as the train arrived early in the morning. The rooms are new, the bed is huge and very comfortable, and the internet is fast and stable.
Breakfast is prepared at a specific time, based on the guest's preferences, and menu preferences are clarified. The breakfasts are so generous that it's difficult for one person to finish them.
I wish your business prosperity and recommend this accommodation to all travelers.
GGourav BoraWe had a great experience. Host is very friendly and considerate. The host went out of the way to arrange vegetarian food for us. Its a little away from centre but easily accessible via taxis which is very cheap. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, there is a big courtyard with trees. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed a lot. No complaints. Their home made jam is just awesome.
TTina333333Very close to the attraction, walk for about 10 minutes.
The store's service attitude is very good and the check-in is very fast.
Cleaning every day, great place, recommended accommodation.
The price is the most appropriate.
Air conditioning but the temperature was right at the time, we didn't use it.
