NPBI systems flood the air in an HVAC system with millions of + and – ions, and much like Ozone, this produces instability where the ions want to attach themselves to particles and the resulting bond renders virus inactive. This technology also causes particles in the air that are to small for traditional filters to trap, to stick together and thus they are able to be trapped in filters.
