The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room itself didn't have a private bathroom or toilet, but the shared facilities were conveniently located right outside the door and kept quite clean. There's also a communal kitchen with plenty of pots and pans available. The location is a bit out of the way, about 1 kilometer from the lake and supermarket, which is a bit much for a room costing over 800 per night. Overall, it's decent.
The hotel environment is quite good. Each room comes with a dedicated parking space, which is great for families. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy. The kitchen equipment is limited and quite basic. I highly recommend the breakfast place right outside the hotel, Pembroke Pâtisserie – it's absolutely delicious!
The room was very clean, and the shared kitchen area was decent. However, the laundry room was really dirty! It felt like it hadn't been maintained in ages, and you needed to pay with Apple Pay. The toilets weren't super clean either, but for a campsite, it was actually pretty good. Definitely bring slippers! The lake nearby is even better than Lake Wanaka, and there were lots of campervans, so it had a lively atmosphere.
If you use Google Maps, remember to select the pedestrian path for directions. Otherwise, it may guide you to an abandoned house.
The view from the dining room was nice, but we found some short blond hairs on the bed. We weren't too concerned about it, but others might be.
The breakfast is quite Western—bread and jam, with milk or yogurt.
It's a nice place, suitable for a short nap before takeoff.
Nearby Saddle Hill is a great spot for viewing the Southern Lights if the timing is right.

Thanks again to John for his hospitality!
Especially good, the room is very large and comfortable, the courtyard is beautiful, the hydrangea is in full bloom, with leisure chairs and tables, and a sincere welcome gift. There are wisteria and cuckoos outside the breakfast room. I guess spring will be more beautiful!
Really nice looking room and a very good price performance ratio. And you even get a complimentary drink. Room was nice and warm upon arrival. I didnt really understand the self checkin for a second, cause i didnt know the rooms were directly at the parkinglot, where the whiteboards and the name are written. Really easy and useful for a fast checkin and checkout. I would stay there again.
The so-called living in a castle is actually a room converted from a stable. The room is very small and the shapes inside the room are also different, so it is easy to hit your head.
But apart from the above objective conditions, I think all the aspects are good. The breakfast is very good. You eat on the first floor of the stable. The coffee is amazing. The water and milk in the small refrigerator upstairs are very good. The waiter is very responsible for introducing each family and taking them to check in.
The so-called castle is a relatively large house, not even as big as some old houses of Fujian people. It cannot be considered as a castle. The garden... well... is not as flowery as the Imperial Garden of the Forbidden City. The plants are mainly succulents. It is not necessary to expect to see flowers, but it is also a feature.
The most recommended is dinner. You can make an appointment for dinner when staying here. It is a rare highlight of the food in this New Zealand trip. There are only four dishes, which are exquisite and attentive, and taste good. If you don't mind sharing the hall with strangers, you can experience the long table dinner and have a drink and chat with the neighbors who live in the stable that night. The English spoken in one night is almost the sum of the past two years. It is very relaxing and happy.
A large motel, the hotel grounds are a large park. There is a large lawn and a rugby field. very quiet. We live in a separate area. The room is not big and can accommodate 2-3 people. There is a public kitchen, which is large and cooking is no problem. There are dedicated public toilets and bathrooms, only hotel guests have keys, one minute's walk from the room. There is a medium-sized supermarket 5 minutes' walk away. It is a 10-minute walk from the town center, less than 20 kilometers from Queenstown, and a 20-minute drive. Compared with the same housing price in Queenstown, it is half cheaper.
A stay at this villa places you in the heart of Dunedin, within a 10-minute walk of Speight's Brewery and The Octagon. This villa is 0.4 mi (0.6 km) from St. Paul's Cathedral and 0.4 mi (0.6 km) from Temple Gallery.
Guests will find features like a virtual front desk.
Make yourself comfortable in this villa, featuring a kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator/freezer and an oven. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Conveniences include a microwave and a washing machine.
The location is particularly good, the sea can be seen outside the window, the large window is very doubled, except that it is a bit troublesome to take the key when you check in, and I have not received one. Others are perfect.

이이진희We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs.
As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.
GGrey mouserGorgeous aesthetic throughout this lovely hotel! Gorgeous views of the Shotover River, pool, sauna and steam room all make this a luxurious stay.
SSafiyoooI had a truly wonderful stay at this retreat. The place itself is absolutely spectacular — very calming, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The deck is stunning, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The owners were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and looked after throughout my stay. Their hospitality genuinely stood out. The dogs were lovely and added so much warmth to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, and the variety of teas available was out of this world.
As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and well cared for, which is something I value highly. The atmosphere is peaceful and nurturing — exactly what you want from a retreat.
The only minor downside is that it’s a bit far from the shops (around a one-hour walk). However, this was easily managed as Uber is only a 6-minute drive, and the hosts were also kind enough to offer lifts when possible.
Overall, an absolutely stunning place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay
AAnonymous UserA lodge on hill level hence a wonderful view on the other side of the mountain and the Queenstown Skyline. The city centre was also near.
Friendly staff. Thanks for the car parking made available!
The price including breakfast was a wonderful arrangement! We just love it. It let us be more productive with more time available on our side.
Thanks.
GGuest UserThe rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff provided excellent service. The breakfast was very good, and the restaurant had a tasteful ambiance. They also offered free hot drinks like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate 24/7. The location was convenient, quite close to Wanaka's attractions.
GGrace CaiAmazing stay at Melbourne lodge in Queenstown. The location is superb and the walk to the main downtown area is only 10mins though you will be walking uphill otw back. The room was spacious and well maintained, though take note that you will have to climb some stairs to access certain rooms but it was really a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it :)

DDew PitchaThe room is spacious, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything one might need. The bathroom is impeccably clean, and the overall eternity is quite pleasant. However, the electric blanket on one of the beds is not functioning. We have already informed the service department about this issue and requested a replacement, but unfortunately, no action has been taken yet.
